I stopped by around 8:00 am on a Saturday morning. There were quite a few vehicles in the parking lot....a good sign. I was quickly greeted by a very friendly server who took my drink order. I noticed on the Specials Board that in addition to the standard breakfast meats, they offered Fried Baloney. I am 76 and baloney was a major food group in my younger years. However, this was a first for me at breakfast. I ordered up 2 eggs, homefries, FRIED BALONEY and a English muffin. My breakfast was excellent. I have driven more than 1 million non comercial miles across all 50 states since 1954. I have seen my share of country restaurants. Castle's is a winner in my book. I want a tasty breakfast, friendly service, a clean facility, an interesting menu and finely, a drink to go. You will not be disappointed with a visit to Castle's.

Overpriced for basic, barely warm, food. Server was alright. First time going was definitely my last

Unclean. Greasy. Been shut down multiple times for health violations. If you can't handle grease, I don't recommend

This is a classic roadside greasy spoon. The food is tasty and the service always personable. Remember to bring cash.

Plenty of parking including several handicap spaces. Speaking solely for the (all day) breakfast, food was delicious and perfectly prepared. Over easy eggs were wonderfully runny, toast had the perfect amount of butter, the bacon done exactly right, slightly crispy but soft enough to be comfortingly chewy. And a generous amount too. Turkey sausage links were as anticipated, mild in flavor, and the silver dollar pancakes were actually pretty large and quite tasty. Coffee was okay, served in a large mug. If you want milk or cream (which is probably the fake stuff) in your coffee speak up when you order, as we were not asked. Service started out somewhat shaky but improved as time went on. You pay your tab at a register on the way out, and they have envelopes for each server if you want to leave a cash tip. They have a shelf of local jams, jellies, and honey for sale. The dessert list on the chalkboard indicated some delightful sounding pies, but I'm saving my calories at present so had to pass. I see they have two other locations, so hope to try one of the others as well next time we're between Urbana and Eaton.

The chicken was seasoned well and went nicely with the chicken gravy and mashed potatoes. Wish I had remembered to take a picture! The dinner rolls were nothing special and I don't care for margarine spread. The side of fried red potatoes were served with sour cream, very tasty. I would recommend and go back for the chicken again and probably not share.

The "fluffy" omelette was very small and way over cooked. It was very salty and didn't match the description on the menu. The way the menu read it had a listed set of veggie ingredients and then a choice of protein. The way the menu described, the meat would be served with the omelette (it sounded like along side. The omelette came with the wrong meat and on the inside. The waiter did not return for a very long time to check in as he had switched to bar service for a little while. I ended up just eating what was served because it had already taken so long to get our food and no one was checking on us. When the bill came we paid it with a card and when it was brought there was a 3% charge for credit card (I know a lot of places have started doing this but it should be shared with patrons before they pay). Again, they also over charged for the discounted item. We did just pay and go because we had someplace to be and we were already late because everything g took so long. This was our 3rd try at the Syndicate and we just haven't been impressed with anything but the vibe. The vibe is the best thing about it. The food has always been mid and over priced at best. Sad - we really want to love it and have a nice brunch location for weekends.

It's from the 60s and probably hasn't changed since they put it up 65 years ago. There's a whiteboard on the back wall with the special for the day written out. Bacon egg and cheese omelette or a sausage egg and cheese sandwich on toast. Five dollars. The kind of place with a few locals sitting at a booth having their morning coffee, one of the waitresses offering Jim the last donut because they know he will want it. He accepts it. This is, in my mind, a classic American small town diner. The kind of place I grew up, eating in my hometown of 500 people. It's not high cuisine, there's nothing fancy about the food although I did come across a few things I had never seen before on the menu. Fried mush. Meat grits specials, like the scuttle butt and the chili Bob. An age old, but perfected recipe of eggs, meat, cheese, and a starch either potatoes ( homefries) or toast. The coffee is weak and not much flavor to it but, to be honest, it's exactly what you would expect in a place like this and there's something comforting about that. Honest, simple food made day and a day out, catering to the local crowd and a few roadway, travelers like myself who happen to come across it. There's a certain charm and depth to places like this that have been lived in day and day out by the same people for decades. For those like up rounded, there's the nostalgia and connection to the many other people having the same experience day after day in communities across the United States. Forgive me if I wax nostalgia can get a little sentimental here, but this morning's dining experience definitely elicited that for me. I hope you can find your own version of this sometime today or in the near future.

Sterling, OH Mon-Sat | 7am-11am (937) 269-1911 Inside the Sterling Bluegrass Jamboree FIRST IMPRESSIONS: 5‍‍‍‍‍ - 5 of 5 If Cracker Barrel and a banjo had a baby, it'd be The Farmers' Table. You walk in through the main entrance of the Sterling Bluegrass Jamboree building (yes, that's a real thing ), and boom--you're in a dining room that doubles as a music hall. Tables, and the unmistakable scent of sizzling bacon. Bonus points for the "Text Your Order" feature --I sent a message, got a cheerful reply, a photo of my ticket, and an ETA. Ms. Celina greeted me with a smile, my food was boxed and bagged, and the whole place was cleaner than a bald head after a fresh polish. Would they let me sing on stage while waiting for my omelet? Probably not. But a guy can dream. THE FOOD: 3‍‍‍ - 3 of 5 I opted for the 3-egg omelet, which included ham, mushrooms, cheese, and wheat toast. Solid. Eggs were cooked perfectly, and the fillings were generous. However, it needed a little salt and pepper to bring it to life. #NoSeasoning #OmeletNeedsAMicDrop ‍ SERVICE & STAFF: 5‍‍‍‍‍ - 5 of 5 Ms. Celina runs the show like a breakfast ninja. Friendly, fast, and full of charm. I suspect she could whip up pancakes and solve a crossword at the same time. VALUE & PRICING: 3‍‍‍ - 3 of 5 $12 for an omelet? That's a bit rich for my bald wallet. I could make the same thing at home for half the price... but then I'd have to do dishes. CLEANLINESS: 5‍‍‍‍‍ - 5 of 5 Spotless. Like a freshly waxed dome. PARKING: 4‍‍‍‍ - 4 of 5 Street parking is available. There might be a lot out back, but I didn't go exploring. I was on a mission for eggs, not asphalt. ‍ HANDICAP ACCESSIBILITY: 2‍‍ - 2 of 5 Small step at the entrance. Not ideal. Use caution when entering or exiting--especially if you've had a few too many cups of coffee. ‍ SOCIAL MEDIA: 3‍‍‍ - 3 of 5 - Strong Facebook Presence. Makes frequent posts, and the page has all the required contact information. Stop by the Farmers Table page and hit "Like". Why you're at it, take a look at the Sterling Bluegrass Jamboree page as well. You may be a Bluegrass Fan and just didn't know it. COMMUNITY VIBES: When Ben & Joy's closed, Mt. Sterling's breakfast brain trust lost its HQ. The Farmers' Table has stepped up as the new morning meeting spot for farmers, business owners, and individuals working to solve the world's problems over coffee. ‍ It was good to see some familiar faces. OVERALL BALD HEAD RATING: 4‍‍‍‍ - 4 out of 5 ‍ A charming breakfast spot with heart, hustle, and hash browns.
