So we went, even though it's 50 minutes away, since we'd heard about it. We went on a Friday for the prime rib (and/or BBQ ribs). We all got the prime rib but the BBQ that was served to other tables made me resolve to come back and get ribs. But, back to our dinner: the prime rib was excellent, not the best ever, but real good - no disappointment. What made it the best (perhaps) was the small town atmosphere and a local crowd that was enjoying visiting as well as eating. As a fly on the wall it was real sweet. The servers were fun and attentive, "honey". The onion ring option was A+. I got the slaw but other folk's side salad looked like a meal. And this was all served with an "almost famous bread". Someone will need to explain it to me since it's quite ordinary and I could not get enough. They had a mountain of it by the cash register and we all took a loaf home (should have bought 2!). I will go back; I need those ribs. I will go back, back since I need to see what they do with broasted chicken!!! Everything was great- food, service, cleanliness, comfort, parking. We were out on a day trip and this was our first stop, for breakfast. The meals were fresh, hot and hearty. I went crazy when I saw the option to upgrade the breakfast meat to Italian sausage and it was dee-lish. Later I realized the family that owns this restaurant is of Italian descent so that was an added bonus. The eggs were done perfectly as requested. The bathroom was clean but tiny and they are just one person at a time rooms in a joint that can hold a lot of people. So be prepared. I found the "cash only tip" restriction to be very strange. As a matter of fact we make it a point to tip in cash anyway; and I have seen restaurants mention that cash tips are greatly appreciated; but I have never before seen it stated that you cannot add a tip when paying by card. So to those of you 'cashless' people...be prepared. We would gladly stop again. read more

It seems they don't rinse the sanitizer from their bins where they place their chicken because our chicken tasted like sanitizer. It was really disappointing. Tables all around us were served before we were and our food came out super slow and cold. We understand the place was busy. They were very nice up front where we were greeted by the owner upon arrival and we were very excited to eat there, however, it was a letdown when our food came out so slowly and so cold and with a chemical flavor. Sadly we won't be back. Two stars because three of us ordered chicken, but two of us ordered off the menu and their food was really good. The onion rings are absolutely amazing. Where do I begin. After being seated it took over 15 mins to get menus, I had to ask for them. No silverware, no drink order taken until we were sitting for almost 30 mins. The water tastes like hotdogs water, bring your own bottled water. Service was terrible and wad given the bill and asked if we needed boxes, said one would be great, but the server went on to have a 20 minute conversation with some regulars sitting at the table caddycorner to ours and completely forgot about the box. I had to go to the door of the kitchen to grab one myself. They also have signs that tips must be in cash, they do not accept tips on credit cards. I will never return. The food was okay but if you're not a regular, don't expect any service. I felt like a burden to them, but never complained. We were there for over an hour and a half and when we left only 3 tables were occupied. They get on we star because you can't give zero. read more

This is a nice family! Family owned and operated for three generations. Everyone is involved in this establishment. We had lasagna, grilled cheese, Prime rib, chicken tenders, burger and green salad. It easily accommodates larger parties which is a plus for us. Food was good- this is the kind of place where our grandparents would go for their big night out. My wife came here for the first time. The food was good, and service was spot on. I option fir the Sweet Cream Pancake. It was large and good. I got the blueberries which is cooked in the pancake. Too bad the blueberries were not the medium size ones. They were very small, but still tasted good. My wife got the veggie omelet without the onions. She enjoyed it. Found this place by accident. Nothing fancy but ohhhh my goodness, the home style food is amazing!! Great customer service by Joe, the owner. You walk in and seat yourself. Big portions of everything. Have had breakfast here (the pancakes are to die for!); have had dinner here 3x so far. Excellent broasted chicken, beef and noodles, and chicken Parmesan. And let's talk about the homemade bread!!!! Also, a large assortment of desserts at checkout. If you want fancy, this is not your place but if you want killer home cooked food, this place delivers! It really bugs me to find this review in my drafts. I could have sworn I wrote a rather detailed review about this place. My brother and I stopped in when our original plan fell apart because they were closed for the 4th of July. As I recall the food was good. Our server wasn't as friendly or attentive as I expect. The prices were purdy much in line with the new norm fueled by bidenomics. I went a second time and had a better waitress. Take it with a grain of salt if you must, but I love places like this This is the kind of place your grandparents would've gone out to for a night on the town. For me, there's some thing just very satisfying about this kind of menu. Expect prime rib, hamburgers, and some lasagna. That looked pretty good. I got a prime rib that was good with a side of green beans and mac & cheese, and it just hit the spot for me. It's kind of a low-key place and if you are kind of snobbish, you might want to go someplace else but if like me, you have simple tastes, I just want a good old-fashioned American meal fast. My nurse Marlise is so good at her job always making sure that I know about each of my medicines and their side effects and she make sure that I keep my daily weight and then I'm checking my sugar every day she visits me once a week. I always look forward to her visits and pass visit, she was able to determine that I was in a fib and made sure that I was going to the hospital, which I was there for five days thankfully she had caught it. read more

Sat down and server brought menus over and when I wouldn't let her lay the menus down until the table was cleared and cleaned she threw them on the cart behind the table and walked away. Have been going to Carriage Inn for years now! Although ALL of the food (yes, all, no joke) is outstanding, my go-to is the fried potatoes with bacon and fried eggs! They have perfected such a staple, and simple, meal and somehow made it even better than I have had anywhere else?! They carried me through pregnancy and I am now introducing my son to them! The service is always outstanding, quick, reliable and they have such sweet gals working there! The ambiance is always relaxing, even on the busiest days! I have never had a bad experience here.. The staff has always been friendly and the portion sizes are generous and hearty. I have tried breakfast and lunch dishes.. from the broasted chicken with hand battered onion rings to the steak and eggs breakfast with a plate sized pancake. The club sandwich was good, but that's hard to mess up. Everything else we've had was underseasoned and overcooked. It's pure grandma fare. And not in a good way. Liver and onions on the menu alone tell you the average age of the clientele. The decor is dingy, dated and at best "Late 80s cafeteria". We call it Grannypants Junction for a reason. Only giving a one because can't go lower! The food was horrendous! My wife ordered the liver and onions, I ordered chicken with the salad bar. The chicken was, I guess ok, a little bit bland but fine! On the other hand, my wife's liver was brought out and was RAW, I don't mean undercooked, I mean uncooked!
