Decided to come here before an event in Muncie on a Saturday morning and was super impressed with the atmosphere at By Hand and Fork. Then my friend and I ordered the mimosa flight and apple cider mimosa and both were fantastic. I am a huge fan of eggs Benedict and had a hard time deciding on which one to order but I went with the smoked salmon option and it did not disappoint. I believe this is my first review I have ever written on yelp. While in Muncie for my sons culinary competition at the convention center, i needed to find a lunch spot. I happened upon By Hand and Fork through yelp. I am so glad I chose here. I love a good Eggs Benedict, and haven't found one for a while now. I got the country ham eggs Benedict and it did not disappoint, the country ham is a nice thick ham steak, the eggs are cooked perfectly and the hollandaise is tasty. I couldn't stop myself from also ordering the PB waffle, based upon reviews from others, and wow, so good.. but very decadent! So leftovers will be coming back with me to Indy. The service is also fantastic! I was quickly sat, greeted by a very friendly and attentive waitress. The decor s cute, and comfortable. Great people work here and they make really good food. The service has always been excellent The breakfasts are all very large. The French toast with strawberries and blueberries is huge and delicious. One of my breakfast favorites is the spinach feta omelette, don't forget to try a carrot cake waffle it's just downright yummy. For lunch the catfish sandwich is my favorite go to, but when eating on a lighter side I like the Greek salad. For refreshments they serve a mimosa with freshly squeezed orange juice. Beer some domestic and some imported, no craft beer, nothing too far away from a Pilsner. They have a Senior menu and a children's menu and something yummy (pie) for desert. This is a great local alternative to the big chain breakfast restaurants. read more

I love coming here because the food is good but they have the dumbest rule that makes me not want to come here anymore. I am allergic to gluten and I always get the skillet. The skillet comes with either bread, French toast or pancakes but all those contain gluten so I ask to sub for the fruit. I've been told twice now that that isn't allowed. Why? So what we have to do is I get the pancakes and my girlfriend (who gets the omelette) gets fruit and we switch. We were in Muncie for a wedding and stopped here on a Sunday morning for breakfast before hitting the road home. I chose it based on the Yelp reviews and was not disappointed. There was a crowd inside the front door so we thought it would be a long wait, but the restaurant is larger than it appears on the outside, and we were seated in under 10 minutes. One of the features of this breakfast/lunch only diner is that they have a beer & wine license. The signature drink is a mimosa flight with your choice of juices and a small bottle of champagne. And the orange juice is fresh squeezed on site. I order the medditeranean omelet that was stuffed with gyro meat and feta cheese topped with tomatoes and onions and covered in tzatziki sauce. It was delicious! My wife had the eggs benedict with country ham slices. She liked it but the thick ham slices made it a bit too filling for her. Our server was a delight, helping us navigate the menu and make suggestions. And the prices are cheap - typical diner prices. I cannot imagine there is a better breakfast spot in Muncie. read more

I didn't get many pictures but, we had lunch here today. The restaurant is very clean and staff were friendly. I tried the Mimosa flight and highly recommend the Strawberry Banana. I also had Mango and Black Cherry that were just not for me. My husband had the biscuits and gravy, fried eggs, sausage patty and hash browns. It was typical of most breakfast anywhere, excellent biscuits though! I had a BLT Platter which is the sandwich and fries. The BLT was served on regular toast that was a little dark for my liking. I went here with friends for brunch yesterday, some local and some visiting from out of state. Nice little breakfast and lunch joint that's one step up from a traditional diner. I had the smoked salmon benedict which was very tasty. Everyone enjoyed their meals which ranged from different styles of eggs benedict to Reese's peanut butter cup pancakes and smores waffles. They have mimosas and beer. They do serve bloody marys as well but they're made with beer not vodka. Still tasty, though. The only issue was that a person in my party wanted a traditional eggs benedict and they were out of ham. I can forgive a restaurant being out of things but ham? Seriously? You can't complain about the food or portion sizes here. The staff is always friendly, even we have carry-out. My mother in law is hard to impress with food places, but even she complimented them. Good things to start with. There was no waiting for breakfast, which is a rarity in Muncie. The wait staff was great. Food came quickly. With all that said, we wouldn't go back. My wife had a gyro skillet. By gyro they mean rubbery pork with gyro flavoring on it. I tasted it and it was horrid tasting. My wife told the waitress she couldn't eat it and ordered something else. The owner or GM came up and keep saying, "but it says it was pork on the menu". I didn't care what it said on the menu, it tasted terrible, so exactly what was the point of her argument? Other issue was price. It was $15 per person for breakfast that was nothing fancy. Four adults and two children was over $88. Plenty of sides to choose from, and if you like it spicy, they'll add some jalapeños and things to your hash browns...so good! Mimosa flights are available, as well as every other beverage you could want at breakfast. The star of this show was truly my Bloody Mary! This was a big let down. From San Diego and looked at the reviews and thought I would like but no. The corned beef hash was awful. Super small portion that looked like dog food. I have know for certain it came out of a can. Wish I took a picture. The eggs benidict were weird. The smoked salmon on the beidict was either old or of low quality but it didn't work. The hollandaise had no flavor. It might have been made out of the powdered stuff. Do not get an eggs benidict there you will be disappointed. The the hash browns were not crispy at all. In fact mine were still a little on the firm side.. my mom had an omelette which was okay but nothing special. One of children got the pumpkin pancakes which were good. The orange juice was good. I didn't finish my food. Maybe went at an off time but don't like I will be returning at least for breakfast anyways. read more

Gosh, what a welcome addition to the Muncie dining scene! We travel to Muncie frequently for shows, and while driving up Wheeling avenue we saw the sign that said "Carrot Cake Waffles" and knew we had to try them. They are nothing short of spectacular. You owe it to yourself to try them. Everything else we've got there has just been stellar. I'm a fan of their breakfast skillets, my wife adores their chicken and waffles. I hadn't heard of this place until I met my boyfriend. He used to work here, and took me out for breakfast when I came down to visit. I loved the atmosphere! The little decorations on the wall were so nice, and the staff was so kind. They work their butts off to get the food to you as fast as possible, and the quality of the meals are top-notch! My favorite dish so far is definitely their chicken and waffles. But if you like fajitas or omelettes, why not try them combined? It's an option they have and it's so tasty! Highly, highly recommend! We drive by this place every week and finally decided to stop and check it out! The atmosphere was warm and cozy. The server was sweet and friendly. The fresh squeezed orange juice was spectacular (and we had a booth close to the juicer so we saw the oranges being juiced!) I got the South of the Border omelet which didn't disappoint. The one thing I wasn't a big fan of was the menu: there were a lot of options, but the layout made it confusing to figure out which sides come with which entree. A simpler menu would be my main improvement. The food was overall good but not good enough to make it my go-to restaurant.
