My son and I were out exploring and stopped in here for lunch. Both the food and prices were excellent! I enjoyed a tasty tenderloin and he tried his first ever chopped steak. Good home cooking! They also had pizza king on the menu which was an interesting combination. The pies sounded delicious but we were full. Next time!

Cruising I-69 and yearning for a good mom and pop diner. Used this app and found this somewhat out of the way place. It's a little further from the freeway than I normally would choose but I'm glad I did. As other reviews noted the portions are good and the prices were very good, especially for the delicious pie. My eggs were a little undercooked but the hash browns were perfect and the sausage patty was large and tasty. I forgot to take a picture of my breakfast but a nice senior couple sitting next to me let me shoot one of theirs. Give them a try, you'll be glad you did.

This restaurant is in downtown Gaston, about 15 minutes from Muncie. This was our first time here. Nice, clean place with good , friendly service. Prices were very reasonable. We had the breaded tenderloin sandwiches. No complaints here. Very tasty. I asked and they have an all-day breakfast menu. They also serve Pizza King and Farmer John's Chicken. They have daily specials as well. See attached picture. We plan on going back and trying the breakfast menu as well as a few of the specials. Nice small town place!

Food and service of a small-town establishment always hits the spot. I'll continue to go here often.

Great lunch specials of tasty home cooking. A favorite hang out for locals. The only drawback is that the coffee is terrible.

They are in a different town. The menu also doesn't reflect their full fare (only shows pizza king items). This company ought to have someone update everything.

The facility is not overly attractive or inviting. You have to decide which door to use depending on which business you are frequenting. I didn't see any signs for the outdoor seating to direct you to the hostess. The parking lot is large with lots of spaces up close. We were here for food so we picked the door to Grains & Grill. The host was very friendly and kind. The inside looked welcoming. The journey to get to the outdoor seating was a bit of a maze. There seems to be plenty of comfortable indoor seating though it is kind of broken up in disjointed rooms. The outside area was nice. The over hang shielded us from the sun in our evening dinning hours. I found the tables to be a bit close together. There was another party next to our table so we had to be cautious about moving chairs to get situated. The outdoor chairs have a flexible plastic seat. The seat seemed to give more than made me comfortable. The chair seemed a bit flimsy. However, it was comfortable and didn't collapse on me. We started with the fried mushrooms. There were a LOT of small mushroom tips in this order. The batter was thicker and a bit mushy. There wasn't much seasoning flavor to the batter but it wasn't greasy to taste. The mushrooms seemed fresh. The dish was fairly good. The cocktail sauce had a decent amount of zip to it. My wife had the blackened fish tacos. Two came with the order. She loved the fresh taste. Definitely not a fishy taste. Delicious she said! I decided to try the Hoosier Hot Plate. It seemed like a house speciality...so why not! The tenderloin was outstanding! The pork was moist and juicy and moderately thin. The breading was nicely crunchy and moderately thick with a slight greasy taste. Maybe the best tenderloin I have ever had! The tenderloin was laid on top of a bed a real mashed potatoes. You could tell they were real by the lumps I bone smooth consistency. These were excellent as well. Just like mashed potatoes should be that were going to accent the meat. The tenderloin was topped with a creamed corn. I would have been disappointed if this creamed corn was the side dish. It was kind of bland and didn't have much of a corn taste. It was also rather mushy. I didn't think the corn added much taste to the tenderloin/mashed potato taste. Overall...it was an interesting dish that was worth a try.

Our drink order was taken, which was almost all water. Drinks came several minutes later. Orders were taken a few minutes after that. Food did take a bit but not unreasonable. At that time a few people needed more water. It took over 10 minutes before a pitcher of water was delivered to the table by someone other than our server. Bread was requested to the person bringing the water since we hadn't seen our server in nearly 15 minutes. Another 10 minutes and our server comes to check on us. She stated she didn't know about the lack of bread and blamed it on the other employee not telling her. At least another 10 minutes go by and nearly everyone is finished eating when the bread arrives. The food was good and the amount of food was good. All but me had eaten there before. 3 got the Hoosier plate, a couple had the tenderloin, a couple got burgers, and I got the Makers beef tips. All enjoyed their food and only a couple had any left to take home. The mashed potatoes were very good and a large portion. There were several ounces of meat and a good portion of green beans. The food was definitely a 4+. The service was a 2 at best. Along with the poor service, they added the optional 20% gratuity, since we had a party of 8. I knew this was possible since I read it on the menu. Most of the party did not. It was noted on the ticket but it was put very close to the other charges. For some, it was not noticeable. I understand the reasoning behind the charge but if the business isn't crowded and the servers aren't working excessively, I don't believe it's justified. In this instance, it may have led to poorer service since the server knew she'd be getting 20% no matter what.

I do think that perhaps many of the ratings are a bit higher than our experience. It could have been an off day for the kitchen team. I do suspect however that the food quality, and preparation is consistent and it just didn't quite meet what I would consider a four/five. I have travelled quite a bit throughout the world, had some really awful things and some high end, highly rated meals/places. It is simply decorated, and was reasonably clean. The server staff was friendly and effective, no issues with any of that. They even calmly managed to navigate a power outage that occurred, fortunately right after we got our meals delivered. I got a BPT sandwich and fries, and ordered a side of coleslaw. The slaw was actually pretty well done, crispy, just enough sweet to balance with the tang of vinegar. Where they fell off a bit on execution (or product choice) was the BPT. It was more of a fritter (likely frozen) vs. a pounded actual fresh pork tenderloin cut. It was thin, a bit "bready" throughout (not just coating). The bun was a tad bit stale, but they had toasted it as a good move to counter that. My wife got a turkey ranch wrap with fries. The name could easily be changed to ranch and hint of turkey wrap. The turkey prep is small cubes (may or may not be a Sysco bag of cubes type product), and there was simply too much ranch dressing, the cheese and vegetables were lost in a too wet, undisciplined glop inside of a spongy tortilla. It looks okay, but just doesn't hold up in actual eating. I wish them continued success, but I don't think we would be likely to stop again as we pass through the area.

It's a few minutes off the highway, but certainly doesn't feel like you're in Gas City, IN. It looks like they added on an outdoor space recently. Nothing too extravagant, but nice enough for lunch. A nice younger man took care of us on the patio. The menu was quite eclectic and unique. The tortilla chips and cold bean dip was a great way to start. Both our soups were fantastic....cheddar cheese for one and leek soup the other. Fish and chips hit the spot and apparently a fan favorite. My wife had the club sandwich of GF bread. Great little local spot if you're ever in the area.
