Sad. This used to be the premier theater in town, now Cinemark is eating Regal's lunch big time…read more The popcorn is stale and full of kernels, the prices are OUTRAGEOUS, easily double Cinemark's prices, and the sodas are not mixed well. The seats are old school, and not horribly uncomfortable but also not amazing leather recliners and loveseats like so many theaters have these days. Walking into this theater and sitting down is like being transported to 2003, which can be fun in its own right. The colors are vibrant, the theater design is liminal and old-school. I actually really like the vibes here. I just wonder why Regal doesn't seem interested in upgrading this theater. It has PRIME real estate, in a rich population high-traffic area. It would make a splash if Regal bought some new reclining chairs and gave the place a good cleaning and makeover, and lowered their concession prices by 25%-30%. Look, I get why attractions in general charge more for concessions, but these prices are hilariously bad. Lowering the prices would result in higher profits because more people would buy more items. It's a no-brainer. The video and audio quality is superb, which is ironic considering the state of the rest of the theater. Probably the best part of the experience is if you see an older or less popular movie, you are likely to have the whole theater to yourself! It's a very fun experience to see a movie on a huge screen with no one else around. Good for the customer, very, very bad for Regal. They need to upgrade the theater or sell to Cinemark or AMC at this point.

Luckily I had a free popcorn coupon other wise it would have been like $12! However, they do have deals during the week that help with prices. If you have the rewards the deals aren't too bad. We went for half price movies so that was a good deal. We saw Leviticus and the movie was great. However it was kind of ridiculous that the previews didn't even come on until the time the movie was supposed to start and lasted almost 30 full minutes! Insanity.

Each one runs for two weeks with shows on Friday, Saturday and Sunday evenings and a Thursday matinee. I drove past here countless times and never really was interested. I had the mistaken impression this was going to be a pull down screen in a basement with metal folding chairs. But it was Christmastide and I wanted to see Puss In Boots so I figured I'd take a chance. Surprised and impressed ! Been back twice since. It's a full size theatre screen, the picture quality is excellent and the sound couldn't be better. The theatre is housed in what was once the auditorium of Eaton High School which relocated to a larger campus some years ago. It's a good size auditorium with center and two side aisles with the motion sensor footlights so you can see where you're going. The seats are comfortable. Wish there was a bit more legroom and that they reclined, but hey.... Ticket price is only $6 as in six dollars a person. There's popcorn, cold drinks and snacks for sale at similarly wallet friendly prices. It's staffed by volunteers and they are the nicest folks. The place is clean and well maintained. Looking forward to enjoying more movie nights here.

A small (but mighty!) art/independent cinema in Dayton. Despite being in the downtown area, it has…read morea reserved parking lot right across the street making for easy (and safe) getting back to your car even at night after a movie lets out. You only have to cross a single crosswalk, and then you'll be back in your car next to a pretty busy street. The Neon only has two movie theaters inside. You buy tickets from the same spot where you buy concessions. Concessions are surprisingly cheaper than your big box theaters, but they're still "movie theater prices". I felt better purchasing them here to support a small business, though. They have your usual snacks, boxed candies, fountain sodas, and some simple mixed drinks/beers/seltzers as well. Nice part of a small cinema: If you need to pee or fill up a drink or snack half way through a movie, it's (literally) steps outside of your movie's theater to do either. It gets you quickly back into the movie. During particularly quiet parts of my movie, I could hear some of the large, explosive parts of the other theater's movie. The other theater's movie was never loud enough or too disturbing to the movie I was watching, and I could never hear the other theater's dialogue. Some things look older, but everything was clean. No sticky floors. Tables were cleaned off, no garbage everywhere. Seats were comfy for me. They have a light recline, but they don't hold it there. It didn't seem like arm rests went up, but I didn't try very hard. Particularly wide-hipped individuals may find the standard seats to be too tight, but I didn't look for any wide seating or ADA seating options. I did see there were a few rows with extra-long leg room. Had a great experience, and I'm going to put the Neon on my radar for future movie watching now too.

I haven't lived in Ohio for nearly 20 years, and was happily surprised to see this cinema still standing and playing movies. The lobby has been cared for and maintained. The actual theater, however, is lacking in a couple of areas. I'm willing to look past the rickety seats and the mess of boxes stacked on the floor near the screen. I'm even willing to forgive the lack of bass a decent subwoofer would provide in this space. But what I will not forgive in a theater experience is a dim screen. I'm aware enough to know bulbs for theater projectors are extremely expensive, and many small theaters will avoid updating their bulbs for as long as possible, but it's time, friends. It's time. The images on screen looked like the brightness was turned down 50%, and that's not an exaggeration. Went to see Fantastic Four and I was having a real hard time seeing anything in darker moments. The Avatar: Fire and Ash trailer played in the beginning and it looked so dull and colorless. The tickets and snacks are affordably priced, and I'd love to continue supporting this place that has such a nostalgic hold on my heart, but I refuse to have a subpar experience with something as fundamental as the image on screen at a movie theater. Hopefully y'all get that fixed soon. I'll be a regular if you do. But make sure you announce it to the world or I'll never know.
