Very disappointing. I can confidently say the highlight of the meal was the water. Had fried green tomatoes for an appetizer and it was under-fried, had a pile of batter next to it. We went for breakfast and ordered the bacon egg and cheese patty melt with grits: grits were cold and patty melt smelled like a barn. My mom ordered the "crispy" brisket bowl which was fatty and mushy with broken hollandaise sauce. We also ordered the Loco moco which I asked for over hard eggs, very simple to do and it was very raw still and the yolk broke everywhere. Not the biggest deal in the world, but disappointing when you ask for something quite simple. Even when I asked for it, our waitress said that I think we can do it. It really shouldn't be thinkable. I called before coming in on a Saturday to know how late the kitchen stays open and they said midnight, so we arrived between 9:30pm-10pm. The place was dead but was galas we had the waitress' attention to ourselves. Brooklyn greeted us when we walked in and took our order for drinks and food right away! She made one of the best Smoked Old Fashion we've ever had! She made sure we were satisfied with our drinks and food also. The ambience was very nice, not crowded for a Saturday night and wish the DJ/performer would've stayed later, we didn't get to see him play. I would recommend this place to everyone, I would hope they get their food made by the same cook we had that night and our waitress/Bartender also. read more

I saw this place just driving by and thought I would stop. I love the vibe inside. They had reggae playing and it has a Cuban menu and flare to it. There is a great view outside of the water and higher tops and low tops. There was only one server and she was great. This is not my favorite type of food so I just went with what I know- a Cuban and a salad. The salad was an average salad and the Cuban was delicious. Tasted very authentic. i will 100% go back to this restaurant. our server (Jeremy) was funny, attentive, respectful, and got our orders right immediately. The restaurant itself was very clean, including the laminated menus which i've noticed are usually sticky at other places. Going through the actual experience, we got greeted the moment we walked in, got our drinks very quickly, and were pleasantly surprised by the generous portion sizes AND set pricing on seafood (no "market price"). The fried calamari was fresh, the fries were while seasoned with a nice crunch, the rice on the jambalaya was perfectly cooked, the avocado blt was HUGE, and the cobb salad was probably the freshest ive ever seen. My friend and I came here for breakfast and we're not impressed at all. As we were ordering, the waitress kept giving us disclaimers about how the sides were not fresh which was the first red flag. I got the cornbread eggs benedict and it looked alright but I didn't enjoy it at all. My friends eggs were gross and she didn't even eat her meal at all. I'm just assuming this isn't primarily a breakfast restaurant so the quality was not what we wanted. read more

Great food, very nice staff, only complaint is that the restaurant was very small and I could see it being tough to get into at times.

This is a super fun place! The jerk meatballs were super tasty, perfect with the carrot! We also had the Cuban which was done really well.

It was a quaint little restaurant. It was sitting by the water. I ordered the french toast and home fried potatoes they were delicious.

I really liked the bar setup and how the staff are very quick to take your order. their mimosas are good and they were only $22 for a Carafe, which is what really drew me in. Next time I'm in swansboro I will definitely be stopping by. read more

Use to love this place but the quality of the food has declined. The Cuban sandwich was my favorite and now it's just mediocre at best. The service has also changed significantly. The location is great and it's always been such a cool place to eat either alone or with friends so I hope they can improve. read more

This is a new location next to the bridge in Swansboro. It's kind of Cuban Puerto Rican inspired decor and lunch menu only. There are more Spanish options during lunch than there are in the evening. This place just opened up in October 2022, so I think they're just getting their feet wet as far as figuring out what the communities looking for and bringing a little bit of the Miami flavor to the countryside of Swansboro. I hope that everything works out for these guys. They were super friendly. Service was great and punctual. The ambiance there is also really nice and gives it very sweet Miami vibe. I got the burnt edges pork with Jamaican jerk sauce rice and a side of black beans. I also ordered a By the Bridge Caribbean style drink. Everybody had a really good time. I could definitely see myself coming back to this place. I'm hoping that they keep the Caribbean style meals in the evening as well. Maybe a paella or a ceviche added to the menu. The afternoon menu was more Americanized mozzarella sticks and hamburgers. They are working on updating a menu currently so I look forward to seeing what else is in store. read more

We have driven past By the Bridge many times and said, "Hey, we should try that place." One night we finally did---and we looked at each other and said, "We've been missing out." This restaurant is very small, but neat, and my husband first tried an Old Fashioned and was so impressed that I took a sip of his---and I was impressed too. Definitely worth it. Our dinner were full-flavored. I tried the Pernil, a Puerto Rican dinner, and I loved it. Even the black beans were served in a way that impressed. So if you have passed by "By the Bridge," make a point to stop and try it. We also hear that the breakfasts are outstanding---and we'll try breakfast next! read more

The Cuban sandwich was an experience all on its own. Rustic baguette-style toasted sandwich with melted cheese and salty, seasoned meats. If there'd been room in my stomach I would've ordered another just to experience it all over again. We also had the carne asada tacos. They were very good, a well seasoned carne asada served on three grilled soft corn tortillas, topped with onions, cilantro, served alongside salsa verde and lime wedges. A lighter gluten free, dairy free option. Service was prompt and the drinks just kept rolling in. We would've taken pictures but we were too busy stuffing our faces.
