[[HIGHLIGHT]]The view and the breeze made it all worth it, but overall, a disappointing dining experience.[[ENDHIGHLIGHT]] We started off with the buffalo shrimp and she crab soup. The shrimp was exactly as the name would suggest- nothing special but tasty. The soup was probably the best part, taste-wise. I ordered the filet and it came out overcooked and dry- something akin to a hockey puck. Our server was excellent and saw it within minutes and brought me a new plate. The second was juicy and cooked perfectly, however I think this restaurant is scared of seasoning. The garlic butter on the steak was the only hint of flavor- I had to heavily salt the asparagus and mashed potatoes to get them down. No seasoning at all. My partner got the mahi mahi and while the flavor was okay, everything was dry and muted. [[HIGHLIGHT]]Eating on the deck made it all worthwhile, but I think next time I'll just got for the view and apps.[[ENDHIGHLIGHT]]

    Sept 2025 eggrolls

Haven't been here for year so decided I wanted to get Eggrolls ($12 for three). Disappointed. Not sure what they have done differently but they were greasy and the outside texture was different. The inside flavors were still good and the sauce yummy, just the shell was not pleasant. Five stars to Breyanna... she was friendly and cheerful. She checked in on us several times. What I did notice is that she had to be a bartender and a waitress so she was not there when I did want something. I would like to suggest that the host/hostess (who was not busy) should be checking around to see if customers need anything when wait staff is short handed. He could have easily filled my glass with water or could have told Breyanna we were ready for out ticket. The property owner needs to change the parking signs to let us know that we can also park where the Looking Glass used to be.

Great food, great service, [[HIGHLIGHT]]beautiful view & setting[[ENDHIGHLIGHT]]. Swansboro is a delightful little riverfront town & the Saltwater Grill is the queen.

It's always some bs coming here we have been coming for over 10+ years the bar is slow, the food is fine (normally over cooked), over the past couple of years it's like teenagers are running the place when you tell me 40 min wait till think 40-45 not and hour and a half then to check on our time they said "we didn't call you" no crap we know...

Our waitress was super friendly and amazing, gosh I am bad with names but started with an M! I give her a 5/5 stars but unfortunately only give the food a 3.5![[HIGHLIGHT]]Waterfront dining with amazing views, it was a little hot and stuffy inside (I wish they had all the windows open).[[ENDHIGHLIGHT]] The food was decent, not as good as I was expecting. We stopped in on the boat after being out on the water all day. Nice that they have a dock that you can pull up too. We were dressed casual but lot of folks were dressed up! We started with a few cocktails and beers along with calamari and crab dip. My son had a N/A Pina colada served on the rocks (they don't have a blender! It was still good even though we were expecting frozen). I had a side salad which was a generous size and the ranch dressing was delish! Our friends are locals and said the food wasn't as good as last time, they were a little disappointed in this visit. [[HIGHLIGHT]]Don't forget to use the restroom so you can use the amazing hand scrub (which you can also buy to take home!) and they have a cute little photo ooo in the front near the hostess stand.[[ENDHIGHLIGHT]]

[[HIGHLIGHT]]It was very hot in the restaurant[[ENDHIGHLIGHT]], but the food came quickly. I got a blackened chicken Alfredo which was not really blackened chicken. [[HIGHLIGHT]]It was great for seating our large party[[ENDHIGHLIGHT]] but I'm not sure I would go back. The staff was very nice b

This place was exactly what I was looking for! [[HIGHLIGHT]]Great views and the crab cake sandwich was one of the best ones I've had, with a delicious remoulade sauce.[[ENDHIGHLIGHT]] The staff were really friendly. Everything was perfect!

    Key Lime Martini

Loved our visit to Saltwater Grill in Swansboro! The restaurant is open and airy with a beautiful view of the White Oak River -- such a relaxing spot. Service was super friendly and quick. We started with the southwest egg rolls (crispy and full of flavor) and calamari, which was tender and came with a balsamic glaze, tomatoes, banana peppers, and marinara -- so good! I had the fried shrimp Po Boy for my meal. It was huge, packed with shrimp, lettuce, tomato, and aioli. Definitely had leftovers! Pro tip: get the sweet potato fries -- they're extra crispy and seriously addictive.

We had met with at best limited success. This year, I found The Velvet Anchor Bottle Shop online and have been following on FB since February. The Velvet Anchor Bottle Shop rocks. Nick was behind the bar on our first visit. Nick was super. He was massively informed about a ton of beer from the Carolinas and further afield. They had a sweet selection of beer from Germany, Great Britain, and Japan. I even saw a 12-pack of Bud-lite hidden away. There are eight taps with a mead and cider on tap. We got there at 1 pm and there were dead, so we grabbed Nick. We talked about local places to go and Big Ten Football. Nick went to Indiana, and I attended Ohio State. When things picked up, everyone was a local, which we thought rocked. We socialized with all sorts of folks, and after two beers, we were off to the beach to have a delightful afternoon with some great beer. The Velvet Anchor is not a large place, two 4-tops, a 2-top, and maybe 10 stools. They did a fair amount of to-go business. This is not the place for children and large groups. But if you and your significant other want a quiet, friendly place to try some great beer, or want to take some back to your place, this location is a gem. We liked it so well that we took our two friends back later in the week.

On June 24th, we first attempted to call the restaurant multiple times in order to place an order. So my husband and I chose to drive to the restaurant to place a carry out order and wait. When the hostess was placing the order, she said that anything over $100 would impose a 18% gratuity. This was a carry out order. We were not being seated in the restaurant. The hostess got the manager Amber. Amber was not receptive at all to our point that this was a carry out order. Our choice to tip or not is our choice. The order was $103. Really. Wow. My daughter insisted she would pay the tip. But my husband and I will not set foot inside this establishment again. Very disappointing. First we were told that the phones were working, but I got a message saying the voicemail had not been set up. Second, we drove in thinking we had to pay to park. Third we placed the order, but, I had to call my daughter to get additional info about cooking preferances. Fourth, we placed the order with the hostess who then tells us there is a 18% tip imposed on orders over $100. The order was $103 (after my husband and I dropped our meals from the order). This is absolutely absurd. Very frustrating evening for my husband and I. We are on vacation, and this is the hospitality shown to visitors. We asked to split the order, so that I could place an order for my daughter and my husband could place an order for us. But oh no, you can't do that. And then we were told that there would be a charge to use a credit card. Do you know how to rub salt in the wound. We paid $133.89 for a carry out food order that was barely over $100.

This review is for our one visit, but I know we'll be back when we are out east again! Had so much fun!! I felt like a kid at Chuck E Cheese's again (only without the creepy characters or crappy pizza). First off, walking in the door, I see a large Hungry Hungry Hippo game, one that we can sit on and control. I'm in. I'm ALL in!! But first, we went bowling. The bowling alleys are nicely kept, clean and updated. Shoes aren't nasty either. The fun display for the scoreboard kept me entertained, be sure and watch the cartoon pins egging you on. Loved it, and I didn't do half bad either! (I guess my Wii bowling has sharpened my skills? haha!) So after an hour of bowling we headed over to check out the rest of the games. There's Daytona racing where you can race each other from your own individual game/screen, there are all sorts of claw prize games and carnival style games, skee ball, air hockey, digital hunting, pinball, basketball, I mean so many games!! And, fortunately, there are no tokens here, instead you purchase a debit type card that is re-loadable and doesn't expire. You just take your game cards to the prize counter and pick you poison. Then keep the card for next time or give it to someone. Besides bowling and games, you can also go into the sports bar and grab some grub! Soups, salads, sliders, pizza, and so on. And this is not typical bowling alley food, it's a bit nicer than that. Compliment your food with some beer or wine and top it all off with dessert! Most main menu items are $10-15. Outside there is a mini golf course (Golfin' Dolphin), driving range, Go-Karts, and a Sky Trail to climb, swing, and explore. We didn't want to leave! But we didn't say good bye, instead just see you next time. CHEERS!!!
