We first visited over a year ago. They were having a viral moment & so of course we were influenced. That first visit was decent. The food was made hot & fresh. The samoon bread was insanely fresh. They were popping out batch after batch. That bread was soft, delicious & every ounce of comfort you could expect from fresh baked bread. I went a couple weeks ago and tried to order a shawarma but I must have came to early bc they were not ready. So today I decided to try again. I ordered the combo and the digital menu shows the combo as $14.99 but it rang up at $15.99. Not a big deal but the digital board should be updated. If you order online, the price does show for $15.99. The cashier was okay. Not as friendly with me as she was with others. It was like I was bothering her by ordering food. The gentleman who was in the back cooking my food was pretty friendly though. Honestly, based on the experience with the cashier it would be pretty easy to not rush back. But the shawarma was just good as I remembered. The chicken was juicy and extremely flavorful. Now that I work closer to this location, it will definitely be in rotation for me. 5-stars for their authentic rotisserie chicken or lamb over yellow rice served in a huge aluminum platter. Can feed several people and the price is very reasonable. Easy go to for a take out for a delicious family dinner if you have no time to cook! (Don't forget to grab some sides on their dip/salad section!) The gentleman wearing yellow glasses who was helping me delivered wonderful hospitality during my late lunch visit and even gave me some samples from the salad and dips section when he found out I haven't tried any of them. Good thing he did because they were soo good! He made me into a return customer. You can order by pound, etc. and I will definitely be back because they were so delicious! I'm so glad he made me try them! I also got to try some of the sweet pastries. You step into Byblos in Kent and the first feeling is a huge hubbub going on--it might feel like a Mediterranean place in Michigan, Texas, or even Iraq, but nowhere in Seattle. It's a big space: grocery aisles in front, an open seating area to the right, and the bakery on the side with trays after trays of fresh baklava, Iraqi cookies, Kunafa and basbousa, all made in-house. The large clay oven bakes fresh samoon bread, while shawarma grills spin nearby. Behind glass shelves, trays of stews, rice, and meats are on display, and at the back, you'll find the meat section. And if you still are not convinced, the amount of food is so generous and the boxes seem so much heavier than any restaurant in seattle. Some of the staff speak broken English, but i see it as a positive thing--it helps maintain the authenticity of the experience. This place is deeply Iraqi, and that's evident in every aspect. The Sides The sides I tried were incredible. The jajeek (what we know as tzatziki) was thick yogurt mixed with cucumber and garlic, incredibly refreshing and one of the best yogurt-based sides I've ever had. The eggplant salad (likely called Beitinjan Salata) was outstanding, OMG , so good --roasted or fried eggplant with onions, bell peppers, tomatoes, and a slightly sweet and tangy dressing. It's easily one of the best salads I've had in a long time. The hummus, fresh and creamy, was sprinkled with sumac and olive oil, perfectly complementing the meal. The Grills I tried the mixed grill, which included iraqi style lamb and beef shish kebab, chicken shish kebab, chicken tikka, lamb tikka, and grilled chicken wings. Everything was delicious, special mention to the sheesh kababs and chicken tikka, smoky, and perfectly marinated. Guys, take a bow for making the grilled items so good. It came with fresh thin flatbread and a generous amount of red chili sauce on the bread. The sauce was fresh and tangy and must be popular with middle eastern people but didn't suit my palate, so I'd recommend asking for it on the side if you're unsure. You can also combine two lamb and beef shish kebabs with two chicken tikka kebabs into Ali's Special, which is a fantastic value. The Shawarmas Their Iraqi style shawarmas are very popular. The chicken shawarma in samoon bread and the beef/lamb shawarma over colored rice were packed with meat (remember the heavy boxes ). Iraqi-style shawarma is significantly drier and less seasoned than the Levantine version, with lemon being a prominent flavor. I don't prefer this dry version of Shawarma and if you are like me, I recommend asking for extra garlic sauce. By the way, their garlic sauce is extremely garlicky! Desserts The mix of Iraqi baklavas (walnut, pistachio, almond) was okay. Loved the Basbousa. But i went at a odd time, so definitely they were not the just baked versions. What Was Missing I visited on a Wednesday evening at 8 PM, the dullest time of the week, and many of their signature items were sold out. Their most famous lamb quzi, whole chicken over rice, pita shawarma, and fatteh weren't available. Writing a complete review of Byblos without trying these dishes doesn't feel right and i am not doing a justice to them, so I'll definitely return to give them another review with for their signature dishes. Byblos in Kent stands out for its authenticity, generous portions. It's a place that feels far removed from Seattle, offering a slice of Iraq right here in Washington. read more

Unfortunately I give this place four stars instead due to the slow service with food ordering and paying. It's a terrible experience. While the food is great and I love the staff including Zainab at the front area but she can only do so much on her own. Taking food orders .... getting food orders to customers.. being a cashier for groceries ... cashier for the meat department... and answer the phone calls too ?? This is too much and it can put anyone under stress. They need a second cashier in different area completely for meat and groceries and to keep the kitchen side cashier just for the kitchen food only. If having a second cashier is nit doable due to the cost then increase the prices by 10 percent and get another one. In business you can always justify the price but you can never justify a bad service. I am hoping that Mr. Ali looks into this issue as it seems to be a big concern to many customers. read more

This was my first destination on my Shoreline to Kent visit (8/11/24). The first observation upon entering was the tantalizing scent from the hot food onsite area. I wandered the various aisles and displays. Yes, I took a lot of photos. I have to thank previous Yelpers who did the same because it convinced me to check Byblos Market out. Nice selection of fresh produce, well stocked shelves, refrigerated areas, and halal meat section. There's also a food area where there were various deli items, a la carte & entree dishes, fresh baked breads, and a vast baked sweets section. Plus indoor seating to allow for onsite dining, if desired. I ended up finding a favorite large tin of cardamon tea and also bought an assortment of baklava that was nicely wrapped for transport or gift giving. I wonder if this is related to Byblos Mini Market in Lynnwood? Enjoyable detour adding to my fond visits of ethnic centric markets. read more

Decided to make the drive again as we were craving middle eastern food and Byblos is the only place that lives up to our Detroit (and middle eastern) standards. This time I ordered a chicken shawarma sandwich on Iraqi samoon (their fresh in house made bread), we also got Ali's special (two beef kebab, two chicken tikka skewers, onions, tomatoes and pita bread), fresh samoon, a couple cheese breads and lehem ahgeen (bread with marinated meat on top), as well as a side of rice and side of okra stew. Everything tasted great, fresh and flavorful. I'd like to note that they had a PLETHORA of sweets this time - everything from assorted baklava, variations of knafa, cookies and other authentic middle eastern sweets. I believe this is all in celebration of Ramadan. I also asked about a few other authentic dishes we've been craving but had difficulty finding in the state. Mansaf is a traditional Jordanian dish made with lamb, rice, and a special yogurt-based sauce called jameed. Mloukhieh is made from the leaves of the jute plant, which are cooked in a rich broth, often with chicken or lamb. The leaves are finely chopped and simmered in a flavorful broth with garlic, coriander, and sometimes lemon. And lastly dolma (aka grape leaves) - consists of vegetables such as grape leaves, zucchini, bell peppers, eggplants, and tomatoes, all stuffed with a mixture of rice, ground meat (usually beef or lamb), onions, herbs, and spices like cinnamon, allspice, and sometimes parsley. The stuffed vegetables are then simmered in a tomato-based sauce, which adds richness and flavor to the dish. ***I was informed that they prepare these dishes on Friday, Saturday and Sunday. Yelpers were right, Friday nights are BUSY! Grab some bread fresh from the oven while you wait to munch on and stroll over to the baklava area to window shop which ones you want to try for dessert. This is a fresh veggie and halal meat market, grocery with a deli counter and bread oven. Grilled foods are made to order so it's not fast food. We ordered the Ali Special and beef/lamb shawarma. Delicious! And of course the assortment of baklava. One had a soft sweetened cheese, other favorites were the almond and walnut. There are actually lots of tables to eat your meal there. If I could give zero stars I would! Went there with a family placed an order. The restaurant is inside of the store. The store is well stocked but quite messy. The restaurant seemed loud and not welcoming. But everyone was hungry. Placed order for simple 5 sandwiches. Nothing major. Waited one hour!!!!!! Everyone else who came after us received their food (looked like two young guys at the restaurant were familiar with other customers). We are out of state, first time here and safe to say never again. After I approached one of the guys he said they cook orders as they come. Well hello! It's close to the door so not the most comfortable eating environment. Going west ok SE 256th St. is the easiet way to get in the parking lot. Food: +lamb entree -comes with rice and tomato bean soup. Lamb was tender and flavorful (very lamb-y), but has lots of bones. The tomato bean soup was so delicious with the lamb. +chick shawarma sandwich - simple and tasty. Amazingly authentic Negatives: Been here twice and ordered hot food. Both orders were wrong. One time I ordered chicken shawarma with fries on the side. They put the fries inside my shawarma. Today I ordered a shawarma plate again. I got rice, chicken, salad and hummus. Not at all what I ordered. I never got a drink. I was too tired and hungry to go back. Being honest? It was still incredible. You just know how you get your taste set on something and then it's wrong? Just a bit disappointed. My biggest problem was the meat being undercooked and having a lot of fat that usually renders out but since it wasnt cooked all the way it was raw and fatty in the inside making most of the meat inedible . A manager's job is to ensure food quality before it reaches the table. They should be tasting or checking the food to see if it's actually fit for consumption or if the meat is not fresh. It's shameful that a restaurant would serve meat of this quality, and even worse that the management avoids responsibility instead of apologizing and fixing the mistake. Lots of Mediterranean Spices.. fresh veggies and fruit, lots of different type of cheese and dairy.. they carry lots of goat/lamb/organ meat and even whole lamb. different types of Baklava and made food: kebab, stuffed eggplant/ lamb dishes/ and so on.. we have tried lots of stuff and keep coming back. Taking one point off it's too hectic at front/ no cashiers have to check out at the deli station and no organization lots of screaming no prices on any of the made stuff or what it is. Hate to be the bearer of bad news, but legit the folks here will upcharge you on purpose.... Come in and order, you say you want a side of this, supposedly one side or skewer of meat, but they end up charging you a plate price and give u a full plate of food that you didnt order. So something that was supposed to be $6.99, ends up a whopping $18.99 PERHAPS they need the business? It is a tough economy, so perhaps need to upcharge and make the customer feel dumb (due to language barrier) their staff will bully you to pay the full price. Worse part.. food was bland I came from SO-CAL and would get zankou routinely, i miss zankou. This was similar cuisine, was really hoping for something good.....this food was like eating uncle bens instant rice, kebabs were underseasoned and not fresh, and the tabbouleh and side salads that come w the plate, were wilted veggies, no flavor, soggy veggies. Terrible place, dirty environment, my friends and I went in to get some food. We placed an order, the guy taking our order didn't really look like he was enjoying his job nor his life for that matter and was dismissive with the questions we had. The service was TERRIBLE. we had walked around their little store and about 10-20 people had walked in ordered their food and got it to go and left. We had been waiting for our order for 1 hour and 39 minutes before we went to speak with them. They laughed it off and started speaking in another language which seemed to be Arabic. We never got our food, when we requested a refund they started making the food and telling us to wait 30 more minutes. Absolutely not. Disappointed is the least to say. read more

The size of the kitchen and the volume of food being made is amazing and frankly can be a bit intimidating. Coming here is exclusively about the food so yes I give it a 5 for that reason alone. Read on. What do you come here for? FOOD. SHOPPING. BREAD. its so fresh it is piping hot - buy it. Employees shouting at each other is highly entertaining. TV show "The Bear" gives you some idea of what it can be like. What do you NOT come here for? AMBIANCE. SERVICE. MENU FONTS. I eat here once or twice a week. The food is consistently GREAT. I've had the lamb/beef and chicken shawarma wrap combos, the chicken shawarma platter, the chicken tika platter, the kafta kebob platter. All have been five star meals. I've also had a couple of salads out of the cold case (beet and pomegranate). Neither was what I was expecting, but both were super tasty...The cucumber salad tastes like tzatziki but with chunks of cucumber. Yum! I won't buy hummus or tzatziki at the grocery store anymore. I get it out of their cold case. Fresh daily. no preservatives. Smooth and tasty. Perfect. I've tried a couple of the desserts (don't get a lot, they are rich). All have been super tasty. I'm not a dessert guy, but I get at least one piece a month...pistachio and honey fix The people behind the counter have all been super nice to talk with. Some have complained about the noise and speed of service. I say 'who cares'. I just know to not be in a hurry if I'm ordering food there...if you want fast, go to Jack-In-The-Crack. Byblo's is a family run market and is managed (at least in my imagination) the way you'd find a family market run in the middle east. I got no problem with that.
