2 weeks ago I had a dead battery. I am on the 4th battery on my 2018 Subaru Outback. After getting the car started, I called the service department to determine if my 2 year old battery was still under warranty. I drove up to look at a car that I was interested in (2 hour drive), I had prearranged to meet the dealer at a specific time, but I was a wee early and texted before I left as I knew I would be early. I got there and the dealer was no where to be seen. I looked the car over the best I could as it had a dead battery, but someone did get the key and I could at least look the car over. I was not impressed with the dead battery since I did give a couple days notice of my intended visit. I finally got to see the dealer, the car was started and I was offered a test drive around the parking lot. In one way I understand, as it was a Ferrari, but on the other hand it is a 20+ year old Ferrari worth less than 50% of the cars on the lot. I did point out several issues with the car and its service history and asked what the best deal I could get. I was made an offer of about $3k less than what it was selling for on their website, which I refused as the even if the car had a full history the dent on the passenger side and the accident history on the car fax would make this a bad deal. Since I have left the price has dropped almost $10k, so the $3k wasn't even close to their best deal. When it drops another $10k I might be interested as it will be closer to the value of the car. read more

Bought a used Subaru in January 2024. Great car BUT they did the registration incorrectly so it was kicked back by BMV. After returning from a 2 month road trip, there was a envelope on my doorstep from Jennifer Eck at Byers Corporate office. In the envelope was the completed Ohio Vehicle Registration form with a yellow post it note on it reading "Can't transfer plates Joint Ownership (and in different pen) From BMV". Called Byers and talked to Eva Castanada (sales person) and Trevor Wiley (finance manager) they both back peddled and did not want to take any responsibility for doing the BMV paperwork wrong. They Just kept saying the previous car was joint title and this car is not. I said I know, I told you at the time that we could register it jointly again but it wasn't done that way. So it was done incorrectly and we drove all over the USA with an improperly registered car. We had to go to the BMV, pay $62 to get new license plates. I went back to Byers to talk with Eva (Trevor was off on Fridays). She just kept arguing with me about why would I want to be on my daughter's title of her car. I asked to speak to a manager. I talked with George Huesman. He tried to shame me by saying I was out of state and did I really want to be on the title of a car? I asked for $62 for the new plates and he said "You want me to have my finance dept cut a check for $62 for your new plates?" Basically trying to man-shame me. I said I want you to admit that you made a mistake, but he wouldn't. This dealership exemplifies the stereotype of a car dealership-a shell game and trying to confuse the customer so they cave in. Jordan Byers Marketing Manager | Byers Auto Group Went to a Porsche event this past Saturday with my father and my partner. We showed up early there was no signage. We finally were directed by one individual where to go on the second floor. We ended up meeting Jordan (didn't know that's who we were interacting with at the time). No introductions. Everyone look like they were disgusted that we showed up. So mind you we were 1015 minutes early and then once people finally started rolling in after 10 o'clock. Jordan was mid conversation with my father and walked away to go speak to other individuals. No one provided direction. I was very unimpressed with this individual who is a representing the franchise and the owners. There were only three vehicles, and they looked like Porsches that we have seen day and day out. There were no vehicles for us to climb in to see what new products were coming, Nothing said come look at me by me. You know you wanna be a huge fan of Porsche. And if you're not an owner, you wanna be an owner. We ended up leaving this event because it was so poorly managed and I was disgusted that Jordan just decided that we were not good enough to speak to and she walked away from us and never came back. So we have purchased multiple vehicles from the buyers franchisees over the years. This is the first time we have ever interacted with an owner. This kind of just told us that we don't need to purchase a vehicle ever again from Byers . I wasn't going to write a post but sitting here and thinking about the interactions. It truly was disgusting and disturbing and somebody worst customer service I've ever experience. So if the owner and the marketing person is going to come out and meet customers and meet owners they should damn well be interacting with people and treating them like they belong. We are the people that keep you in business and we are the ones that refer our friends and family to come to you and buy vehicles, which is what has happened. Clearly, Jordan was able to pick and choose who she wanted to speak to and decide who was worth her time and getting their money. read more

I've been here before many of times and I can just tell this is poor management and some bad employees. I called the parts department looking for some spark plugs. I said I was on my way and Mike would have them on counter ready. Literally, no customer was there but me and 30 minutes later I should up only to wait 20 more minutes. This isn't the first time this has happened and I go to different dealerships for parts all the time and have dealt with them all. I would definitely not buy a car from a dealership that can't have something as simple as their parts department in order. This dealership as a whole is just terrible. Employees are rude. If we have an issue, Jeff at the service department takes great care of us. He will never miss a call and keeps you up to date on your services. They are an excellent dealership to work with. This was a vehicle from the collection, so needless to say there was a lot of pressure just from the high price alone. But he was very calm, patient, informative, prompt, and professional through the entire process. I could not be happier with my new car, and I attribute alot of that happiness to his performance. Professional, courteous, and upfront. These words do not describe most dealerships I have visited. However, I find Byers to be the industry exception. This is a passionate team and it is clear that Byers has invested in quality employees. I have had my car serviced at other local dealerships and have been unimpressed with the communication. Also, per my recommendation, both my parents now drive vehicles purchased from Byers; and they are continuously satisfied with the service departments. 15 year customer of Byers Imports here... have purchased multiple new cars from them and foolishly have used them for each and every service appointment. But, I swear, I will never deal with them again! I've simply had it with their poor customer loyalty and service. Over the past 15 years, the sales experiences have always been less than cooperative. There have also been numerous service issues and even one awkward confrontation with the service manager. However, time after time I went back. Shame on me. My recent experience with trying to buy a new car from Byers is just the last straw. Here you have a reoccurring customer that has figured out what they want now. All that is expected is an easy buying experience: a quick transaction and a fair market price. What was received was attitude (prolonging a transaction) and stubbornness (not a fair market value). Sorry Byers Imports, this is a toxic relationship that was bound to end. However, truly it's not me, it's you. Obviously, it's a culture thing, as you haven't changed for 15 years. First, the good: sales professional Don Moss is awesome. I have purchased two cars from him. Next, the bad: finance guy forgot to have me sign the bank note. I was out of town and had to drive back to dealership (1 hr each way plus gas) to sign it. Finally, the ugly: dealership took 18 days to pay off my trade and overnighted a check over threat of me contacting attorney general. Tags still not transferred-almost a month. Update July 8, 2019: If I could give zero stars I would. Read to the end. Horrible experience. Initial review: You'd like to know how you can improve? Start by standing behind the Audi certification you gave my vehicle which was performed 3 months before I bought it and passed off as up to date, accurate, and to Audi America standards of quality. Bought a certified 2015 Audi Q7 Tdi with 9k miles from Byers Imports on February 28, 2019. Byers certified the tires as damage free with 9mm tread front; 8mm rear. Drove the vehicle home to NY state. Tire pressure gauge was going off continually. Initially attributed to March temps. Fill with air, repeat two days later. (Had spine surgery days after returning home and Q7 was garaged and not driven for four weeks.) Took to Audi Albany NY on April 12th to get NYS inspected. All four tires dry rotted. Wouldn't pass safety standards for inspection. The Rear tires certified by Michael Lamar at Byers on 11/28/18 state 8 mm tread. Vehicle had 1,000 more miles on it between certification and my taking delivery on 3/1/19. Albany NY Audi dealership measured less than 3 mm tread (below yellow bars) on rear tires. Byers service manager, Caleb Redfern, claims the tires magically and mysteriously dry rotted between OH and NY!!! Really??? Come on. Less than 2k miles put on the vehicle. Even bought the tire and wheel package for $1,795 but am told dry rot isn't covered. Byers won't stand behind their fraudulent or falsified certification. Working with Audi America to help resolve. Steer clear of this place. They are only out to sell cars or keep up with quotas. My salesman was Larry Hobbs. Business Manager had me back date the delivery date so they'd avoid another month on their finance books or to make quota on the February sales. After three months and persistent pressure, Byers General Service Manager Eric Friend agreed on May 28th to pay for four new tires and alignment. Check to be mailed to Albany Audi next day. I paid awaiting credit. Update July 8: Check must still be in the mail. Byers still hasn't paid. These people are ridiculous. In my opinion and from personal experience, Byers is a fraudulent operation with unethical employees at every level. This could have been and should have been resolved immediately. This place sucks. Pure and simple. I recently relocated to Columbus and took my Audi in for the 35K service. They returned my car with a screw broken off the headlight. A $900 replacement. They hemmed and hawed about how they didn't understand how this could happen, and insinuated I must be at fault. They offered to glue the part back on. Yes, I said glue. What a service center. If you want your Audi glued back together after they break it, this place is for you. read more

First, the experience with the sales team was excellent. Tray was responsive, personable, and overall helpful beyond expectations. However, the back office took a long time to process the title (day 18 of their allotted 20) and then mailed it using regular USPS instead of something more timely like registered mail or Fedex. The title got in our hands on day 30 after the purchase, which is the last day to register a car in GA. We were charged a $200 penalty by DMV for something out of our control The manager, Matt, says they did everything in their allotted time and thus are not responsible. read more

From the moment I bought my first car here, to the 140k mile service, to purchasing my latest, I am treated as someone special. My "guy", Rachel, takes care of me every step of the way, from arranging my next service, to getting a loaner, to having my car detailed. I actually look forward to stopping by the dealership. I've had several poor experiences with the service departments at the other two VW dealerships in Columbus (see my review of MAG), so my expectations were not high when I first went to Byers. But what I found here is pretty much the opposite of everything at MAG. Where I was treated like an inferior at MAG (probably because I have Volkswagens and not Porsches), I was treated like gold at Byers. The waiting room at MAG is tiny and claustrophobic; the one at Byers is wide open and comfortable (good coffee, too). People at MAG were brusque; people at Byers are exceedingly friendly. MAG made promises and didn't deliver on them; Byers delivers and then some. I paid through the nose at MAG; Byers' bills are less than expected. MAG requires you to navigate a maze of access roads; Byers is easy to get to. I could go on. After my disappointment in MAG (and to a lesser extent, Hatfield), I swore off VW service for a long time, but Byers has changed my mind. Nice job, guys. read more

I bought my Subaru from these guys - not the ones up in Dublin. It was such an overall easy experience, I would totally go back here to buy another car after I drive this one into the ground. No pressure sales, easy to deal with, and very approachable. And they didn't mind that I went back three times to test drive the car. Well, three, including the first time. And when I finally said I wanted to buy the car, they had me in and out of there in my new car in no time at all. I took my 2005 Volkswagon Golf there because my regular mechanic thought I might need a power steering pump and for once, the dealership would be less expensive. I went ahead and allowed the $100 diagnostic because I always believe in second opinions. Byers said my power steering pump was fine (while also insinuating that my regular mechanic had messed it up in some way - keep in mind that my regular mechanic had sent me to Byers because they felt that Byers would know more about them AND be cheaper), while telling me that I needed front and rear brakes and CV boots, as well as new wiper blades, an "antenna mast," and a license plate bulb. They wanted to charge me $1400 and I knew my regular place could do all of that cheaper, so I passed. Byers let me drive it off the lot, which was my first clue that my brakes weren't actually that bad. I took it back to my regular place and they told me that yes, I needed the CV boots and REAR brakes, but my front brakes were still practically new. Not to mention that my wiper blades were also fine. To recap, they tried to charge me $445 for front pads and rotors that I didn't need (seriously, my mechanic showed me a picture of my front brakes - they were nearly new), another $53 for the antenna mast (a piece that they couldn't adequately explain why I needed), plus $49 for wiper blades that I didn't need. So over $500 in simple ripoffs. It would have been different if, when I told them I was taking it elsewhere, they had mentioned that maybe the front brakes weren't actually that bad, but no, they didn't even try to save themselves from being caught in a lie. They just assumed that my mechanic would be as shady and dishonest as they were and also try to overcharge me for things I didn't need. My mechanic, who, by the way, replaced the CV boots and the rear brakes for about HALF of what Byers would have charged for the same. This is why people hate dealerships. Byers has gotten $100 of my money, but they'll never get another penny so long as I live. As a side note, their place was very difficult to find - the people answering the phones for new customers should tell said customers that the GPS will often take them to the wrong area if they don't enter the address exactly right. And when I went to the main location by mistake, the person who sent me to the Volkswagon area told me that it was two-tenths of a mile away, when in fact it was over a mile. I'm definitely going to tell this story far and wide whenever the topic of who to trust with car maintenance comes up. read more

Byers Volkswagen: I'm the type of guy that tries to fix my own VW, but there are some things I'd rather not tackle, and for those, I go to Byers to have the repairs done. I was in there last week and worked with Ryan at the service counter. He was great to work with, set realistic repair estimates and timing, kept me up to date as the repairs progressed, and was one of the friendliest and most thorough service guys I've worked with from any dealership. We even geeked out a bit on older 'dubs. I can't think of anything to tell the VW part of Byers to improve in their customer service. I am more than happy with my experience and appreciate their efforts to build loyalty with their customers. Plus, at the end of the day, the repairs came in less than expected - not that it is a norm, but it's a nice thing to find out as icing on the cake. I'll still try to do most of my own repairs, but when I can't or don't want to, it's nice to know you have a place you can trust. Strange that I'm recommending a dealership, as we've all been burned in the past. Give these guys a change to impress you and change your dealership service experience. read more

I will make this as quick as possible - I purchased a new '17 A4 at the end of 2016. I went to Byers because it was much closer than MAG. From the very beginning my vehicle had issues. I began spending a great amount of time at Byers service department addressing a wide range of issues covered by warranty - some minor and some major/more complex. I understand the 2017 audi had a new design and some of the issues were never before experienced. Of course I do not blame Byers for issues that clearly came from the manufacturer. My vehicle spend much time in the shop with confusing/misleading answers and no results. My issues with Byers are simple. A service department that has no communication, and in my opinion is both clueless and INTENTIONALLY DECEITFUL. Upper level management that COMPLETELY IGNORES any attempt for communication. A company culture that they are TOO GOOD FOR YOU lead by Sales Dept. and staff in general. I kept detailed records of all my service visits and all communications with Byers. After it became clear I could not trust anything Byers told me I went to MAG for a second opinion. The difference was clear right away. At Byers I was continually blamed for the major issues - when i spoke to MAG about what I was told they had VERY different opinions - and they found additional strange issues that were missed (or caused) by Byers. My very last communications with Byers came via email with the Service Manager, with my sales rep and management CC'd. In a lengthy email chain reviewing the litany of issues I experienced (all well detailed) Caleb's resolution was actually telling me he did not see anything out of the ordinary - all records looked normal on me vehicle - mind, blown. DONE. I took this to my my lawyer and I was just recently awarded a 5 figure settlement from Audi. I wish I could truly illustrate the comical/vaudeville show nature of my experiences with Byers from start to finish. This is the only review I have ever left in my life - SAVE YOURSELF TIME AND MAJOR FRUSTRATION - If you are in the Columbus area GO TO MAG where they are professional, thoughtful, and well educated. read more

Do not expect service from the service department. I purchased my 2007 A4 Quattro 2.0T from Byers as a CPO in 2009 and utilized their service department for all of my warranty work. Between 2010 and 2012 I had three separate check engine lights for the Intake Manifold Runner Flap Control Motor or Intake Flap Motor. Each time I took it to the dealership (while still under CPO) for repairs. Each time I was told they cleared the code and flashed the ECU but the part was not replaced. As I neared the end of my CPO warranty I expressed concern that this was a persistent issue and asked why the part wasn't being replaced. At the time they told me once it got closer to 100k miles they would replace it if it was still being problematic. A couple years went by without any more issues. Last month it reared its ugly head again throwing codes P0642, P2015, and P2008, all referencing the Intake Flap Motor. While continuing my research, I also learned that there was a TSB and extended warranty on the part that went to 10 years or 120k miles. This TSB/warranty was in effect on each of the separate occasions I took my car to the dealership for this same reason. Frustrated, I called Byers to inquire as to why the part hadn't been replaced outright on any of the three visits. I spoke with the service department, who looked up my records and assured me that it was replaced with part number 06f-133-482e and that he was surprised the part had failed again since that rarely, if ever, happened. I said okay and thanked him for his time (I wish I had written his name down but it didn't occur to me at the time). I order the part from my local dealership in San Deigo (I recently moved), and set aside a Saturday morning to dive into the part swap. All in all the swap was successful and took me around 4 hours. My problem occurred when I pulled off the old part and found the part on the car was the much older B revision per the part number that would have been on the car when it was built. Audi made two versions of this part that were not interchangeable. One had a letter at the end that changed with each updated revision, the other was the same part number but had no letter at the end (06f-133-482). The TSB/extended warranty issued by Audi stated that if the part ended in a letter that is was to be replaced with the most current revision (which was E as far back as 2010 if not earlier), if the car had the part number with no letter at the end it was to be left alone. At this point I was frustrated, the service department was telling me I had a much newer part installed on my car, but the physical evidence was telling me otherwise. This would have had to resulted from one of two possible scenarios. 1. Someone broke into my car, leaving no signs of forced entry, gained access to my engine bay, and then swapped out my shiny E revision Intake Flap Motor. After completing this daring heist, they then went on to replace my unit with their ratty old B revision. I've seen Ocean's 11, so I know it's possible. 2. The dealership didn't do the repair they claimed to have done. I know what your thinking, dealership service departments have always held themselves to the highest standard of integrity possible. Clearly someone (or a team of professionals) swapped out my part unbeknownst to me. I chose to believe option 2. I called Audicare and filed a complaint with the same in hopes of being reimbursed for the part and labor since the work had never been done. I realize complaining to a large company is usually without hope, but I felt justified in bringing forward this issue. About a week later I received a call from the service manager, Eric Franz. We spoke for about 15 minutes that day. He advised me that he pulled up the records and the records now stated that when the car was brought in last (June, 2012) the part was inspected per the TSB. He is stating that when the part was pulled and inspected it was found to have part number 06f-133-482. We discussed that this part would not work in my car and it would throw more CEL's. I advised I pulled a B revision from my engine bay and replaced it with an E revision (which is working famously by the way). During this call Eric was amicable to reimbursing me for the part and stated he would talk to Audi regional about getting reimbursement for this as well as the possibility of the labor cost the dealership would have charged. This was an entirely fair resolution for me, as a dealership would have charged me labor to have the work done. Long story short, Eric then turned around and told Audicare they did the service, even though the part number they claimed was on the car would have caused the check engine light to come on and does not work on my car. They have refused any resolution and have will not return any calls to discuss the matter. Use MAG or an independent technician instead, this isn't the first issue I've had with them. read more

They failed to diagnose the vibration of my cpo gti. They suggested a wheel alignment. Once that didn't work they said I needed to repair a bent rim. We repaired what was called a minor dent and it didn't solve the problem. The service manager tried to blame the dealership that sold me the car "He asked me why do you think they would sell you a car that has theses problems". I would never take my car to byers. I was driving eastbound cross-country (from Los Angeles to Baltimore) in a 2005 VW Jetta, when I had an unexpected breakdown. My coolant reservoir had broken and was leaking coolant/water everywhere. I was stuck in Nowheresville, Ohio, about 40 miles east of Columbus. I had my AAA tow-driver take my car to Byers, the only place "close-by" that could possibly have the replacement part. I explained my situation to Ryan, who found my broken reservoir in Byers' inventory immediately. He hi-fived me in excitement to know that I might have a shot in getting back on the road in hours (as opposed to days). My car was serviced and road-worthy in 2 hours...complete with a fresh car-wash, to boot. Upon paying my bill, I was touched to find out Ryan had took it on as his personal mission to get me back on the road ASAP. It was nice to know he was as concerned about getting me home as I was. As sad as it is to say, it is a rarity to find a service professional who genuinely cares. Byers' service was reasonably priced, and its waiting area had complimentary coffee, free wi-fi, working vending machines, comfy chairs, and DirectTV for the comfort of its customers. I highly recommend Byers to any car owner. And, I highly commend Ryan for his exemplary customer service. All-in-all my catostrophic break-down only cost me 5 hours total, at a minimal cost. Considering this all happened on a Saturday morning, my results could have (and maybe should have) turned out much more costly. read more

We bought our Audi A4 here. It's a nice dealership located in the middle of the ghetto. Don't let the area throw you off though because there are some VERY nice cars here! In addition to getting a fabulous car, the experience of buying it was fast, and everyone my wife and I met at the dealership was professional and fun to deal with. One of our biggest concerns was whether the car would fit in our tightly packed garage. The salesman, Don Moss, suggested we drive it home as part of the test drive to make sure the car would fit. When my wife returned two days later to buy the car, Byers didn't have the exact car we wanted in stock, but the sales manager found one at another dealership. On the day it was to be delivered, my wife needed to be home to wait for an appliance repair person, and Don Moss was kind enough to deliver the car (spotlessly clean and waxed!) to our home. She hadn't bought a new car since 1995, and Don explained all the features clearly in a way that didn't make her feel stupid. He also obtained good prices for us on the accessories. Tony Cook handled the sales paperwork. In addition to getting my wife through the process quickly and competently, he did her a favor. After she left, she couldn't get her car key to turn in the ignition. She went back into the dealership, and Tony was kind enough to come out and get her car started. Having the accessories installed also went very well. In addition to doing a good job, they gave my wife a loaner, had her car washed and took time to go over the new accessories with her. There is a reason this place is priced cheaper than MAG for service. Took my Audi A4 in to get the 85k mile service and oil chance done and was told it would take about an hour. After sitting in the waiting room for 2 hours and watching the guy at the service desk eat his nasty McDonald burger I finally get my car back and this is where it all starts. First of all I get back in my car and it smells like the guy that was eating the burger took it out to lunch and left food in it. Second, I get the car 5 miles down the road and the check engine light comes on so I run the codes when I get home and get a P0299 code which is low boost. Not to mention the fact of all the oil in the belly pan. The next morning I take the car back out to them and sit another dreaded 2 hours in the waiting room for them to come back and tell me the turbo was bad and I needed a new one. I asked how they determined that and they said "well when a low boost code comes on the turbo is bad" and I instantly thought that is the biggest line of BS I have ever heard. I then continued to say "did you run your diagnostic procedure on the turbo to figure out exactly what is wrong with the turbo weather it's the waste gate, diverter valve, a simple vacuum leak, etc..?" they stated no. So what takes 2 hours to do nothing and tell a customer they need to do a $3000 repair based off of assumptions. Next thing they tell me is that "the turbo was probably going bad for a while and that's why the previous owner sold it" if the turbo was bad wouldn't you have found that on your 85k mile inspection? Needless to say this place is worse than jiffy lube and I thought that you couldn't get worse than that! Save your money and go to MAG because you will pay it in the long run when they mix up your coolant and oil :) read more
