Childhood memories are staples that never leave your mind especially the great ones. After a doctor's appt, we ventured over to Byrd's cookie company! It is located on Waters Ave, amongst some other busy business and doctors offices. We entered the store and the smell was priceless! The service was even better. We were greeted and taken on a mini tour of the store. We an opportunity to sample ALLLLLLLLLL the cookies. The walls were covered in soooo many cookies and treats for days. After all the samples and laughter and beautiful smells and decor, lol I purchased two 16 oz bags of cookies: Scotch oatmeal cookies and Key lime coolers. I will always return to the hometown staple! A Savannah core experience. This business has a very regional flare and own made proprietary baked goods . Among their many storefronts this is my favorite. The original store Near the BAKERY! The staff here is extra hospitable. Maybe they are less frazzled than more touristy Byrds locations ? I always enjoy gift shopping here and they are a happily received gift . The more bags you buy the price goes down per bag !? What a great incentive! During my most recent visit I bought some reindeer festooned holiday "snack bags " of the flagship oatmeal cookies. OH my while walking around the City Market area on vacation in Savannah I had the pleasure of tasting some of these great cookies. Not only was the staff very friendly they offered me a bunch of samples and each one was better than the next. The Peach and Key Lime powdered sugar cookies were amazing and then they had some old standards, new flavors I had not tried and just all around yummy options. The shop was really cute and they had fun containers, gift options, you could mix and match your own flavors. A lot to choose from and a must to visit when you are in town. Great history, free samples, available online or you can buy on the spot, what more can I say? The original cookie - scotch oatmeal - is excellent, but they also have a lot of seasonal flavors like pumpkin spice. Their lemon and lime coolers are great as is the peach and almond shortbread. First time hearing about this company during our recent visit to Savannah. We stopped in 15 mins before closing. The person that assisted us was very helpful and friendly. This is a perfect lunch spot and a hidden gem. I love the atmosphere, the simple menu, and the spectacular service. I had the chopped salad and my friend had the BLT that was on special. I thought that my salad was good, the bacon was cooked perfectly and the veggies were fresh and delicious. This store is so much more than cookies, and as a local I much prefer it to going downtown. The employees are beyond friendly and helpful. Plus, you can sample all the cookies before you buy them. They carry a variety of local Savannah and Georgia made products so making a care package from our hometown is super fun and easy. I was recently in Savannah on vacation with some friends and we stumbled across Byrd's Cookie Company. This place is AMAZING! The space is very inviting and warm. I loved the Cookie Bar and we sampled every single cookie that they sold in store! And those little cookies are like bite sized pieces of heaven And as amazing as the store and the cookies were, they definitely weren't the best part of the Byrd's Cookie experience. The absolute best thing About our visit was the staff. We met Celeste on first visit and we just loved her! She was funny and charming and a fantastic salesperson. She invited ilia to come back for a tour of the cookie factory, which we did! It was a fun tour and we enjoyed it immensely! After the tour, we shopped some more and found the other members of the staff to be fantastic also. This was the first visit and we were impressed. The location is very clean, presentable, and the customer service was great. There is a large collection of samples and sales. My best friend took me to savannah and said this was the spot to Go. I was expecting a large gooey melted cookie, but instead a bag filled with (not hot) cookies. This is the original location. Now there are several places more in town that you can get their amazing little cookies. This location, however, has tons of kitschy stuff asl well. Tea towels, kitchen wares. books, cheese spreaders, you name it. They have a ton of cookies for sale in a variety of container options: the iconic tin trays, really fun plastic cups that you can use til the end of time, and fantastic large and small cookie jars. Byrd is a Thanksgiving tradition for me ... we go every year on Wednesday before ... it is a nice place, especially at the holidays, they have various ornaments and decorations...the best part is the free sample of cookies, unlimited ;-) and the staff is friendly and helpful. It's been over a week since my trip to Savannah and people in California are still thanking me for bringing these sugary confections home. I brought my Dad a bag of the Ginger Snaps home... Gone within days and he would not share with my Mom! lol. These cookies are miniature, pop in your mouth, and not fresh out of the oven hot and gooey ... It's not a bakery, it's a cookie shop. They serve samples and you can try, try again to figure out which one you like best. The Georgia Peach is by far the favorite amongst my friends and coworkers, a little burst of peach in every bite. The key lime are good , but are much sweeter and as someone who isn't into sweet/sweet I would probably hold off from buying those again. I only wish I had purchased the scotch oatmeal or chocolate chip. I bought 4 bags for $25, they made nice gifts and I kept one for myself. The lady that helped us was very helpful. I'm surprised at the three star rating, I guess I have some reading to do. Update: Okay just read the reviews and I'm really shocked at some of the basically rude and Nasty comments. My advice, please judge for yourself before reading the bad reviews.
