I have now received a checked for over $200 that was owed from over a year ago. I am happy and surprised this was finally settled. I do not know what took so long...perhaps a cash flow problem or bad bookkeeping. But they did come through. I would still recommend all patients have their insurance billed immediately and not accept "credits" for overcharges. Well folks, I must down-grade the original Byrd Dental review and recall my feelings about DMO's, but when that's all your group insurance covers, the only option is pay much more for individual dental insurance. I felt satisfied with both the first dentist, new crown and office personnel, then the dentist musical chairs started. Two years later, I needed an old crown replacement and should have taken a clue when it took 5 visits to get it right. Seven months later, problems with the new crown and told that gum lengthening should have been performed. Received a referral to their associated surgeon @ Benchmark Dentaln who is "supposed" to be part of their office/network. Yep... I complained because that's not cheap and my expectation is to get it right the first time. Additionally, the original crown and support completely broke with them suggesting an implant. Toni, the area manager, so nicely calmed me by stating (lying) that they will pick up the cost of the lengthening and associated crown. My visit to the referred surgeon for crown lengthening was completed and I received the projected cost. The referred office was informed upon my check in and checkout that the Northpoint office was paying the bill. They contacted Northpoint and informed me that Toni said she will review the cost and get back with me. Ha Ha...no calls from her and never available to talk. Yep...ghosted. Save your time, money and insurance. I went in for a periodontal cleaning and I was xrayed about 5 times, and given an appointment at another location for another xray, in which I canceled. Byrd recommended that I go to regular dentist to receive my extra cleanings, which I know what a periodontal clinic is supposed to do. You should rotate every 3 months from your regular dentist to your periodontist for a total of 4 cleanings a calendar year Byrd recommended 2 implants for $13,000. I ended up going to ClearChoice and got a 2nd opinion. $10,000 for 2 implants, and all follow-up appointments are included. I will never step foot in Byrd Dental Group again. Unfortunately I did not take the time to read through the reviews when selecting this dental group. I only had X-rays done, however I had an extremely bad feeling about this place. They try to come off as knowledgeable, friendly, but they do not take the time to ACTUALLY listen to their patients, especially when it comes to concerns about unnecessary procedures/work, insurance verification, payments plans, etc. In gist, I will not go back to the dentist/dental group & will possibly look into a malpractice suit, bc what they're doing is "high way robbery"! read more

Not professionally managed. The Dr is good the Hygienist is good...But somehow an hour appointment ends up to be 2-4 hours long. So much waste of time. I had to cancel my other appointments. Sad part is we ca not charge Byrd dental for our time. Two months ago I was promised estimates of work to be done and I am still waiting for it after contacting them 3 times... Even today I was supposed to get an estimate for a crown. I waited after my appointment for almost 15 mts and then I had to leave without getting the estimate again. Dealing with this dental office has been a complete nightmare. From receiving the wrong ortho treatment to trying to get my approved refund that I've yet to receive. It's been 4 plus months and counting and Sonia Claudio is proving that she isn't making much effort in helping me with this request. I took time off and was on my way to the office when I received a call from them 10 mins before my appointment telling me that their office is closed. The lady said they are usually closed on Fridays and she doesnt know who scheduled me on this date. I even had my insurance call them directly and they gave my agent the run around and didn't call back. You will always need the highest treatment and pay the most for mediocre performance. My husband and I made an appointment at Byrd Dental Group. They spent 45 mins taking multiple sets of full x-rays beyond what insurance normally covers. However, when it came to actual exam Delbert Williamson was as clueless as if this was his first day on the job. He nor the dental hygienist examined the inside of the mouth properly, asked to do more tests when I asked him on the general health of my implants - thought that the x-rays were fresh off the machine that day and would provide some clue. They did not do even do an oral cancer screening for my husband. As far as cleaning goes, I had to fight tooth and nail to get a regular cleaning done. They refused to do a regular cleaning for my husband, and forced him to do a deep cleaning. They do not even know what is covered as part of my insurance and even on my insistence would not perform a fluoride treatment. I had to call them 4 times to get a copy of the x-rays. Horrible place for periodontist work. Each time I have been to the office I have to wait over an hour to hour and half past my appointment time to be called back to see the doctor. I waited 3 months for a quote for my periodontist work which I called multiple times to get. It took my Uncle (who is my dentist to call over to this facility to get the quote for me) On top of that the staff is not knowledgeable or helpful. They tried to over charge me from what the original quote was (fortunately, they did go back and agree to original quote--only plus I can say). After having the mouth/gum surgery finally they could care less that I am in pain--They got their $6,000 from me! The doctor is good but you will never ever get an accurate bill. When I discovered that they owed me money they said they would get a check mailed out. It never arrived. When I asked another time they said 'I'll get it submitted.' After months and months of going back and forth, I've never received anything. They have created a treatment plan for me (someone who prior to this office, hadn't seen a dentist in eons) that has produced great results. Unless you enjoy hard sell tactics and being charged for more than you ask for, STAY AWAY. I specifically asked for a regular cleaning that my insurance would pay 100%, but they charged me for a deep cleaning anyway. They also are very sneaky when billing you and your insurance and don't provide you with a copy of your charges and payments unless you ask. Insurance filing was also incomplete. Even after providing them documentation that the insurance company needed additional information, they ignored it and then tried to charge me after the insurance time requirement expired. Not recommended at all. WASTE of MONEY and TIME. Unnecessary X-rays, unnecessary procedures, and very unprofessional. They are careless about their clients and their time. After doing many X-rays, they told me I needed a crown for one of my teeth (I even doubted if it was necessary). I agreed to do it since I trusted them. They gave me a temporary crown until the permanent one gets ready. Everyone knows that a temporary crown can not stay more than 3-4 weeks because it leads to infection. However, they made me have the temporary one for 6 months. In the meantime, they scheduled with three appointments to get my permanent crown. At my first appointment, which was 4 weeks after getting a temporary one, they injected numbing medication and then gave me a wrong crown that even was not mine, and they were trying to adjust it forcefully. Without any consideration and apologizing for that, they told me that they need to order a new crown, and they will call me when it was ready. After 4 weeks, I even didn't receive any call. I went to their office in person, and they were lying that they tried to call me on the same number, but I didn't answer. Finally, I got my second appointment a week later. They gave me numbing injection again, and after manipulating my gums, they couldn't fix the new crown again. Long story short, I had to wait for one or two more months, to get my permanent crown which was not perfect again and was missing a small part of its top. It was so frustrating. Thereafter, I changed my primary dentist. And guess, what happened when I had my first appointments with them? They said they must redue that crown because of that missing part and also the existence of a ree space between the crown and gum that can lead to infection. read more

I would give zero stars if I could. Not only do they rob you on their prices compared to other places, they don't follow through if they mess up. I had a root canal and crown done. The dentist did my RC and then took a mold for my crown and I was supposed to come back in two weeks to get my permanent on. When I went back, it was an old man there. Someone different from the original dentist. I told him I was still sensitive and having issues with the tooth. He assured me that was normal and continued to put my permanent on. I continued to have pain, but kept trying to see if it would die down. Finally went back. Another new dentist! The original guy was no longer there. So my crown was hitting my bottom teeth before any of my other teeth. They drilled it, said to give it a month due to all the swelling it caused. I lived in agony for another month. Went back and was told it needed filed some more and to wait. OMG!!! Continued to have pain. Went back. Told me this dentist doesn't do root canals or retreats and would have to send me somewhere else and I'd pay out of pocket again for something I'm already paying for through the $2000 loan I had to get from the bank in the first place. I begged for a refund it for them to fix it. They eventually stopped taking my calls. Even requested for the office manager 3 times on the phone and went in person. Absolutely nothing. It's been over a year now and I'm still in pain. Just now finished paying off the $3000. Had a second opinion on the tooth and the dentist said the root canal wasn't fully completed and the tip was still there as normal. The pain I experience is awful and too broke to fix it. So disappointed in this practice and how they handled the situation. I'd trust a person off the street before them. read more

SCAM ALERT!!! Beware of billing practices at Byrd Dental Group ON Northhpoint Parkway and Old Milton in Alpharetta. The office manager requires patients to pay up front before billing insurance. The office manager then increased the agreed upon rate three months after the date of service and without our consent! They collected money from insurance and refused to send us a refund. While dental services met our expectations they still owe use a refund and the office manager refuses to answer the telephone or respond to emails. I WISH I WOULD HAVE CHECKED YELP FIRST! I have met 4 other people with stories of them recommending root canals not needed more gum graphs than needed etc. I have recommended they come post here as well. It's sad that this dental office is still pulling the same scam as reported 9 months ago! I wish I would have checked yelp before going here. They told me I needed scaling and root planing. I knew it seemed fishy as I've never had any issues with my gums in the past. I refused the treatment and then they proceeded to ask me to sign something with a big price at the bottom which of course I wouldn't sign. I had my mom, who was a dental hygienist for close to thirty years and is now retired, check my teeth and she said i definitely didn't need this treatment. I ended up going to my husbands dentist and paid out of pocket just so I could go to someone trust worthy who also confirmed I didn't need this. I usually go during my lunch hour so being on time is important to me. I've never had to wait when I arrived for my scheduled appointment. Dentists were good however the services, over costs, fearmongering, buddy referrals racks up fees quickly. They have a new patient deal $39 exam and xrays, our initial visit as a patient cost us $500 for xrays and a deep clean. no costs discussed until trying to leave. we lost a crown a week later new crown $1200. They kept telling my wife that if she did not get this work taken care of soon her gums will loosen and her teeth will fall out, and bacteria will get into your bloodstream and you could die if you do not act on this treatment. They evaluated her twice for gums and teeth work and the combined cost was over $30,000 dollars out of pocket. This is laughable as our prior dentist is a top ranked dentist in Vinings never raised a concern over several years. In comparison I can say the cost of added care for PPO far out weighs the HMO byrd group in network plan the difference is made up in one deep cleaning visit to HMO vs PPO'. Dont goto alpharetta dentists as the higher rent they pay will be with findings/$$$ from your pocket. read more

Hmm, maybe that should tell you something right there. It is hard to leave this review. I sincerely hope you take the time to read and consider my input. My family and I have been coming here for several years. After finally finding a dental practice where my whole family felt welcome and we all appreciated the level of service, it is clear something has drastically changed. First, I have to say that Kim at the front desk and Trish the hygienist were the exception, they were professional and I truly enjoyed my interactions with them. Unfortunately, it was clear that the other staff members have defined their agenda as shuffling customers through with minimal effort on the part of the staff, and putting the burden on the customer whenever possible. The lady that took me back to the room, I think her name was Corrine, did not introduce herself and took off toward the room expecting I would follow her. She barely spoke to me and when she did she was facing the computer screen and I couldn't hear her. Frankly, I think my being there irritated her, at least that was the impression I left with. I waited over 25 minutes between the time the hygienist completed and I was able to see the dentist. The dentist, who didn't introduce himself either, looked in my mouth for all of 1.5 minutes and then said that I needed orthodontics. Really, a 47 year old man who is not having pain and has no major dental issues? When pressed for an explanation, he said that I had some rotational issues and it may cause some premature enamel wear if not addressed. Odd, no other dentist in my 47 years of going to dentists has recommended them. Doreen, supposed to check me out and set up my follow up visits, couldn't be bothered to get off the phone, lowering the mouthpiece to say $35.00 (after I had been standing in front of her for several minutes) was the extent of her effort to be engaging and exhibit customer service. Also, I have to comment on the form. Doesn't Byrd Dental want to make customers feel like they are valued, minimize mistakes, and keep customer contact/billing/medical history data up to date? Being handed a form that asks for your social security number and has no preloaded information fails on several fronts. First, I don't have to provide my social security number and for your staff to tell me otherwise exhibits training deficiencies or arrogance, or both. Second, to have a database with all of my information and then handing me a blank form and telling me to completely fill it out, it's the law - again, training deficiency or arrogance. For medical conditions, you are asked to say if you now have or have ever had a condition, then there is no place designate or explain the difference. The two are different and forcing us to write that out longhand is going to lead to more opportunities for mistakes or customers just ignoring the question as it is too much hassle. Having worked with multiple customers with HIPAA databases, I can assure you that requiring customers to completely fill out a blank form once a year is not true. I am certain that your practice uses software that has the capability to produce a pre-filled form that can be reviewed and agreed to. Sherry's explanation that when we do that people just stupidly agree and data is never updated exhibits an attitude that I don't want to be subjected to and I don't want my wife and children viewed with that kind of scorn and mistrust, either. If requiring us to fill out a blank form and requiring our social security number is in fact legally required, I look forward to discussing that with you when you contact me to discuss my feedback. My family and I moved here 1.5 years ago. It's always difficult to find a dentist when you move, but we were referred to this group so we felt good about trusting them to quality and honest service. I made my appt a few weeks ago for X-rays and a cleaning at 7am today. I was checked in quickly, took what seemed to be a hundred X-rays and then the hygienist came in. After some small talk, she began the "gum test", which is worthless and painful. Then Dr, Harris walked in and said I had no cavities but had some gum issues. They both left, and I was left alone for 15 mins while they checked my insurance. The tech came in and was very nervous as she began to walk me through my "treatment plan". Keep in mind, I didn't want a treatment plan, just X-rays and cleaning. I looked down and saw a cost after insurance of $950!!!! I told her that was ridiculous, and she apologized and went to get the tech and DR. I was stunned. I told them this was a scam and if I paid $950 for a cleaning I'd have to walk out the door holding a huge sign above my head saying "I'm an idiot!". What a total disgrace of a business, a total scam, a total embarrassment. I'm sure they strive off of patients that have better dental insurance or accept this as OK. Dishonest! I went to the Byrd Dental Group in January 2015 for the first time. I walked out in tears with a $7100 treatment plan. It included 3 crowns, 3 root canals, and work on 8 different teeth. When the dental assistant came in with the treatment plan, she handed me a brochure for a payment plan even before she gave me the treatment plan. They also told me I had gum disease so I paid for a special deep cleaning while I was there that was not covered by my insurance. After thinking about the treatment plan for a week, I decided I wanted to get a second opinion. I had my xrays sent to another dentist for a second look. The second dentist recommended work on 3 teeth instead of 8. He was able to do regular fillings with no crowns or root canals. He said I had no signs of gum disease. With my insurance, the cost was about $600. That is a far cry from $7100!! read more

They identify the problems, develop a strategy to deal with them, and work out a plan to accomplish the treatment objectives that accommodates budgetary realities. The staff is concerned for your welfare, and does a good job of keeping you informed about what is happening and why. Went to this place because I switched to a new dental plan and this is a HUGE mistake. The dentist examined my teeth and said I needed deep cleaning because there are some deep pockets, then they did an x-ray and the same dentist came in and repeat the same speech. Though, I have no cavity and they never "diagnosed" any disease but keep selling me the deep cleaning. I refused because I've been having regular dental exam every 6 month and my dentist never had any concern over my gum. A second dentist came in and, again, claimed I needed deep cleaning because I have bone loss and routine cleaning won't help. He then went on and said I also need to consider braces (never in my life this was recommended by any of the 5 dentists I had visited in the past). I told them all I want to do for today was routine cleaning but that second dentist refused and said that it won't be malpractice if he doesn't perform deep cleaning (yay right). So, I just get up, get the quote from them and leave. This place is all about money, the best interest of their dentists is selling you all the extra services that, most likely, you won't need. read more
