The second best time to leave a review for your dental care team is right after a routine cleaning. (And not the one where the hygienist has to measure your gum line tooth by tooth.). I just had my pearly whites cleaned by Lisa and checked by Dr Shenk. You know that feeling when your tongue can't stop feeling how smooth every tooth surface is after a cleaning? That's me now and why I decided this is the second best time to review and rate my dental care team. The way the office team worked to fit me in for a cleaning you'd think I was some sort of celebrity. (I'm not.) They kindly checked in with me whenever there was a cancellation to see if I could make it. After three tries, I was able to today. Hadn't been in for a very long time. (Thanks, pandemic!). The place is as pristine as ever. Minimalist modern decor. All the dust bunnies must be at the veterinarian's next door because this place looked ready for a white glove inspection. As it always does. Lisa thoughtfully gave me options for style of polishing. Every detail was attended carefully and the efficient expertise was as evident as her friendly professionalism. Ever wonder what it's like to have a dear friend as your dental hygienist? Then book a cleaning with Lisa. Dr Shenk smoothly swooped in after the cleaning to check her flawless work and examine my teeth, gums, and tongue. Finding nothing amiss, we enjoyed some quick banter and a couple laughs. He always has time and even as busy as they must be, he never makes me feel rushed. All kidding aside, I've been a patient at this practice for nearly a dozen years and I refer everyone who asks to visit them. This is probably a big reason they are so busy. I can easily say my experience at Shenk Dental Care is by far the best experience I've ever had in my dentist going career. I will admit I'm a bit of a dentist hopper. Hop hop here. Hop hop there....hop hop everywhere. Ole Mc-yelper had a toothache ye ouch ye ouch ole! Yes isn't that how it starts...pain...For about a couple of months I've had this toothache and so I did what any logical person does...I ignored it and hope it'll go away! Well it didn't. In fact it got worse to the point it woke me up one night. That's when I said...hmmm maybe I should go see a dentist. Oh wait, I don't have a regular dentist. So I went on Yelp and I saw that I had booked marked this place a while back because it got such amazing reviews from people that I knew....so I thought well let me give them a try besides this toothache isn't getting any better. From the initial phone call for the appointment to getting directions and just general instructions I could tell this was going to be a good place to go. (I sorta judge a place whether it be a OBGYN or a opthamologist by the staff that they hire. If they treat you like you're the most important person in the world then you know you found the doctor you want to go to for years to come.) I'm happy to report that Dr. Shenk's receptionist was super helpful and really professional...I was able to get an appointment right away (same day) which I was surprised because being a new patient and all...by the way they didn't put me on hold for 10 minutes and make me listen to 1990 renditions of Mariah Carey's music...trust me I've been there...and it's not pretty! The office itself was new, bright and modern. Plus they had HGTV in the wait room. I mean...come on...Property Brothers...I like this place already! The dental assistant that took care of my x-ray and got me set up was fantastic (sorry I forgot your name but she looks like a young Jennifer Garner before she made that god awful movie Elektra) Great personality and impeccable bedside manners...I've been to dental practices where they have assistants that act that you are the first patient they have ever seen and this is the very first x-rays they have ever taken in their entire life...in case you want to know the best way to get out of those appointments is to tell them your kid just wet on himself and the school nurse wants you to pick him up...works like a charm! Even if you have no kids... As for Dr. Shenk himself... he was generous with his time and all around a super nice guy...which is important especially if there is a chance he might be drilling in your mouth. The last thing that you need is some stressed out guy with a passive aggressive personality who wasn't hugged enough as a child and secretly wanted to be a woodworker-working on your back teeth...sounds like the main character for a Stephen King novel...death by drilling...buzzzzzzzz Back to my teeth...as I've mentioned it turns out I'll be getting an ouch canal and because of the placement of the tooth I'll be seeing a specialist for that...apparently this specialist specializes in root canals...interesting dinner conversations he must have...thanks to Dr. Shenk's staff for going ahead and making the appointment for me since they must of had a sense that I would of rather drink a whole bottle of advil than make the appointment myself! An interesting thing happened after my appointment with Dr. Shenk. My tooth stopped hurting...does this mean I can cancel my root canal appointment? read more

I hate to even post this bc I really thought Dr Shenk was different than most dentist. One that was calm and would help me through the dentist work I needed. So I had an appointment with him for today for a crown and filling. They called me at the last minute and let me a Voicemail saying they couldn't see me without paying $1000 up front because my insurance shorted him $4 on my last visit. Yes $4 whole dollars. His office person Kat said Dr shenk had spoken to Dr Woo who is in Woodstock too asking about my X-rays and he told Dr Shenk my insurance didn't pay him the full amount. Which my insurance told me It was $60. But i have not received anything telling me this. So Kat at the front desk told me that Dr Shenk didn't want to waste his time working on my teeth if he was not gonna get paid. My insurance company was on the phone with the front desk telling them they had been paid and would be paid. We have Teamcare through UPS. One of the best dental insurances. So if this is the kind of dentist you want more power to you he's the one for ya. He's a really good actor. Don't be fooled. read more

Doctor treatment is good but support staff is absolutely awful. Our experience: Staff incorrectly billed for in-network services. This was only corrected after we addressed this with office staff several times. Staff made the correction but made it out as a "favor" to us. Correct in-network billing is not a favor to a patient. On top of that staff does not return calls in a timely manner. Specifically, Rachel is plain out rude and displays bullying behavior. Unfortunately, we do not recommend. read more

Outstanding family dental practice that has now been handed Father to Son. I've been coming to Shenk for about a decade now. Both Michael (Father) and Judd (Son) are phenomenal dentists with fabulous bedside manner. The hygenists are true professionals and will make even the most sensitive, paranoid patient feel right at home (I speak from experience, here). The office staff is professional, cheery, and extremely accommodating. Waiting room has plush leather sofas and a television where you can control the remote. Both Shenk's attended GA Tech for undergrad and you can see the passion for technology in their practice. Modern XRAY and digital systems abound. Each patient has a private television in each cleaning / exam room where again, you control the channel. While they may not be on your preferred dental plan, Shenk's practice is normally covered for all but a couple dollars on all preventative maintenance and cleanings and they are extremely flexible on any major work or repairs you may need. If you're one of those that simply can't stand the chair, let them know as they have nitrous and plenty of other options to make you feel at ease and get the routine care you need and shouldn't avoid.
