I rarely write reviews, but when service is provided that exceeds expectations I feel it is only appropriate that it be acknowledged in a public forum. The three-man team of Ricardo, Jorge, and Jay from Byron's Landscaping met with me at my home for a consultation within a few days of my initial call. They listened to what I wanted, asked pertinent questions, then made thoughtful and intelligent suggestions regarding plants which might be appropriate. After agreeing on a plan, they had a work crew on-site the next day to begin removing dead plants,cleaning the beds, and preparing the soil for the new plants. The plants installed were all very healthy looking and mature enough to fill the beds without looking like a batch of seedlings. In addition to the contracted services they also trimmed some existing red tipped photinas, added additional plants to several empty pots, and spread mulch on an existing bed - all of which were outside the scope of our agreement, and at no additional charge. From initial consultation to project completion was less than a week and included four beds. I could not be more pleased with the results, they guarantee the work, and in the days following installation I received both text messages and phone calls from Jorge and Jay to check-in and make sure that everything is good. I greatly appreciate the excellent customer care and attention to detail which the team from Byron's provided me, will definitely use them in the future, and enthusiastically recommend them without reservation. read more

I had them completely renovate my townhouse garden, and this new garden is even more amazing than my husband and I had imagined! I am over-the-moon with happiness about the results! He has that rare combination of scientific knowledge combined with an artist's eye for color, composition, and detail. He and his team really brought the magic! After the Pergola was installed in November the final step was the application of a sealer. We had to wait due to rain/cold and then the holidays, but they were able to apply the sealer today. Stay away from this company! Very disappointed in this company and how much I paid for a mediocre job. I was promised a detailed proposal, which never came. They came in late one afternoon and destroyed my current landscaping and came the next day with a crew to install just a few plants which looked sickly. The grass they installed was dried and not very green. They left my gates opened and dirt all over the sidewalks. They were also supposed to plant some pots in my backyard which was never done! Way too much money for what I got! Definitely a bait & switch! I asked to have the owner contact me, but he ghosted me.... Never again! read more

Jay came to my house to discuss what I wanted, and he informed me he had a college degree in agriculture. I asked him to take notes, but he said he would remember everything. I asked him to stop me if anything I was requesting was not something the company could do, so as not to waste my time. Jay said they could do everything I wanted, and he would email me a quote in a day or two. The quote arrived; however, some of the work we had discussed was missing from the quote, and some of what we had agreed to had been changed. I sent the quote back, noting the omissions. I received an email saying the omissions were work they could not do, and some of them would require an additional fee. I called Jay to inquire why the quote was different from what we had agreed to, but he did not pick up, so I left a voicemail. Not hearing back from him, I called the company office and left a message for him. For two weeks after I called Jay's personal phone and also left messages with the company. I have had a great experience with Byron's Landscaping! I found them a while ago when my husband and I were looking to get a full landscaping overhaul done for our house (we decided to wait and glad that we did because the freeze from this year would've killed everything) but we have used them for general landscaping since and they have been wonderful! They even started doing online invoices so I don't have to keep up with taking cash out. Recently we decided to revisit the landscaping makeover especially since our bushes were all dead due to the freeze. Ricardo and his teams did an amazing job!! We needed trees cut, bushes removed, rocks put in, and plants of course. When I consulted with Ricardo I didn't have anything too specific in mind about "types" of plants just a general theme of wanting "tropical pops of color" and he nailed it! The plants are beautiful, we are waiting for them to grow and some more to bloom but so far they are perfect! His teams did a great job completing each task that needed to get done and in the end they even put down some grass for us because we had bare spots from bush removals. The landscaping is absolutely beautiful and Jay did an excellent job of picking out the right plants and placement was superb. For the cleaning up of my old garden, the new soil, the myriad of plants, straightening up my old bedding rocks and mulch, I fell the price was very reasonable. It was a two-day job and all the workers that arrived were courteous, mindful of my requirements and appeared genuinely happy to be gardening. BUYER BEWARE!! Think twice before hiring Byron's Landscaping. He has a questionable work ethic and does not honor his warranty. I met with Byron and his team Saturday, May 27. He gave me a bid to replace 2 sump pumps; one in front of and one in back of my house. He said he would have his office call me Tuesday, May 30, after the Memorial Day holiday to let me know if they would install the pumps on Wednesday, May 31st or Thursday, June 1st. I did not hear from Byron or anyone in his office on May 30th, so I called his office the morning of Wednesday, May 31st and was told they would be at my home later that day. Byron's team did arrive that day and complete the work. On Thursday, June 1st I noticed the front pump was running constantly and, if you placed your hand on the rocks that covered the opening just above the pump, the rocks were very warm from the pump constantly running. Additionally, while the pump was running, water was not being expelled from the external pipe. I called Byron's office to report how the pump was functioning and he sent his team that afternoon. On Friday, June 2nd, after a hard rain on the evening of June 1st, the pump was not functioning at all. Water was not being pumped from the external pipe. I gently kicked the external pipe and water began to flow from the external pipe. I called Byron's Landscaping Monday June 5th (leaving a voice mail message) to let them know the pump only functioned if I gently kicked the pipe, and that the pump in the back of my house was not expelling water at all. I waited for a return call. When I did not receive a return call on Tuesday, June 6th, I called Byron's Landscaping on June, 7th and spoke with a young lady to explain the issues I was having with both pumps. She put me on hold for an extended period of time. When she returned she told me someone would be at my house Thursday, June 8th or Friday, June 9th. I asked when I would know someone was coming. She stated they would give me a call before arriving. As of the posting of this review I have not heard from Byron's Landscaping. I have paid for the materials and labor in full and I have not behaved in a manner that is impatient, demanding or disrespectful. I do expect both sump pumps to function properly without my intervention, and for Byron to honor the 6 month warranty. read more

DO NOT RECOMMEND THIS BUSINESS!! They promise customer Satisfaction, but all we have received are unkept promises to return calls or to keep appointments with us. They were hired to build a new deck & fence in our back yard. First, the deck was not built according to the design we had requested. To make up for this, we got the stain on the deck at no charge. Very appreciative (that is why they got a one * review). However, when they built the steps from the driveway to the deck, a portion of the roof gutter was removed. It is still laying on the ground. The deck was constructed without plastic covering the ground, therefore, weeds now grow through the deck's wooden planks. The fence: It looked great when completed; however, after the first rain, rust dripped from the nails in the middle of the planks to the ground. When we complained, Ricardo explained that it was the wood, not the nails!! Unbelievable!!! Finally, we had a 5x10 indoor/outdoor area rug under our patio furniture before this work was started. It is nowhere to be found, even though photos of the rug were sent to Gi at Byron's as proof. The workers claim that they never saw it even though one of our photos shows the rug covering a pile of wood planks on a rainy day. For months, we have requested Byron's to meet with us to resolve these matters. Our requests are made with no return calls, unkept appointments made through Gi, and finally, Byron's has a recorder answering their phone which makes us feel that they are now avoiding us. The representative, Ricardo Paredes, is most charming when making a sale; however, once the work is completed, he is nowhere to be found & doesn't even return calls. There is NO CUSTOMER SATISFACTION!! The quality of the completed work and treatment of customers needing resolution of matters is dire! Hire a company that is honest and provides good workmanship. They did our backyard grass and landscaping the cost was $1800 for a very small area... we lived in a townhouse. my husband talked me into moving forward with them. The grass died after 3 weeks!!!! We watered it 3 times a day - when we called to have them come out and fix it they wanted to recharge us over $800 for grass! We went and bought our own grass and it was $145! They are a ripoff!! I stayed home from work to be available and they called a few minutes before the appointment asking to reschedule to the next day. I rescheduled. I messaged back asking where he was to which they said we are on a time schedule and cannot wait. Three minutes! But I sent up 3 bids to compare and Byron's response was immediate. One company was booked into September, the other gave us a fair estimate. But with Ricardo, Byron's rep, he was completely involved and a good listener. I explain what we had , expected and our budget. I don't like to go back and forth with, "What about this or that, change that to this " my time as well as their's is valuable. So I may have sounded kinda rude to Ricardo but he heard me and took my wife input and came up with a plan, budget and timeline within a few hours. 6/7/19, Byron's Rep, Ricardo followed up with me in a very professional manner. He was not pushy or anything like that. We agreed and he said he could have a crew out to our Spring Branch Home Saturday AM. Wow! I thought I would have to wait a few days. Sat, the 8th. Sure enough 2 crews showed up on time and all in same uniform. That was a very good 1st impression. In the past, we had crews from different trades and skill levels show up unprofessional looking and almost as if they were just picked up off the street.Which may have saved us $ but they,past companies, were late and the quality of their work was OK. Continuing with Saturday, Ricardo had a team meeting with them all. Now keep in mind the 1st day was more preliminary and demo in our case. Your project may be different, but Ricardo will take care of you. ... 6/10/19 After some clarification, the project continues to make positive steps forward. Concrete is complete, and pergola is 90% done. Pix shows are current. The project was completed June 13th, I wasn't able to see it until that weekend do to work. Byron's landscape went beyond our expectations. I know its only been a week but every flower is attractive. We were told they would follow up in a couple months, and they guarentee their work. These commitments from a company are unheard us. I really like that. I'll keep you posted as well, because there's other projects we're thinking about. Consultant Ricardo and his assistant made use of my time and managed the job to my liking. For projects they are great to work with. Our yard turned out great. We had a fountain moved and leveling work done and grass and vines planted, blackstar gravel and pavers installed. For maintenance, we have had some challenges with breaking outdoor lighting and not being proactive on keeping landscaping looking pristine. Another issue with maintenance is non-response with texts and voicemails. Another issue can be payment. Want a check the day the job is done vs. billing you. Overall am happy with the way the yard looks, but the ongoing maintenance and customer service is challenging. Hoping this improves over time. read more

We had an excellent experience with Byron's. We saw a Byron's Landscaping sign in one of our neighbor's yard (their yard always looks fantastic)! Ricardo and his assistant came and gave a quote right away and really took the time to understand exactly what we wanted. He even offered suggestions and provided new ideas that we had not thought about. The crew came out the next day and worked quickly and professionally. When the work was complete, Ricardo came out to do a final walk through with us. He went above and beyond and added additional landscaping that really made our yard stand out. He also went through a maintenance plan for our new sod and even purchased a watering timer for us to help with maintenance since we are at work all day. First, these people are always delaying the job. Ricardo will promise you and he can promise you anything you want to hear, then he wouldn't show up for days, not even a call, and then show up when he feels like working. Ricardo fixed my retaining wall and I had him come back to fix a small portion of it since he was the one did the initial retaining wall. He was again, late, delayed, then finally completed the project, but there was a broken wood on the fence, broken by his crew, and he needed to hammer in a piece of the fence as well. He mark the two pieces of wooden fence by his finger nail, and "PROMISED" me he would come back to fix them, but he completely refuse to pick up the phone, no reply on text, nor email. Stay away from Byron's Landscaping. They charge super expensive, but they are not fulfilling what they promise. Not a good place to go if you want a pleasant experience. After 3 months not hearing from Ricardo, I finally filed a formal complaint with the BBB. Just stay away from these people..... read more

Called Byron's for a small tree trimming job. I was pleasantly surprised that they were able to stop by the same day to provide an estimate AND complete the work. A few hours later, the tree branches are off our house and it looks great. They not only collected the branches and hauled them off, but they did great job cleaning up all of the leaves and debris too. The cost was a bit more than I wanted to pay, but they made up for it in responsiveness, speed and quality work. We will use them again and would recommend Byron's to friends and neighbors. read more
