C-A-L Ranch stores have some of the friendliest employees anywhere. They do however, have abysmal polices and dreadfully lack of training, especially in their guns and ammo. Went to the first counter in Cedar City on my way home from a job. Told the guy needed a couple of boxes of SKS anmo. They gave me 2 boxes of 7.62 by 54. As I had not bought any ammo for a little over a year, I wasn't even thinking and just accepted that. I went to the 2nd store in St. George Utah on the next leg of my journey South. Same thing, went to the counter asked for 2 boxes of SKS ammo. Again was given 2 boxes of 7.62 by 54. I was half way between Las Vegas and St. George when talking to my cousin he reminded me that I needed 7.62 by 39. I thought to myself, no problem I will Exchange them at the store in Las Vegas. However I got into the store at Las Vegas and was informed that they do not do exchanges or returns on ammunition. Now I am stuck with 4 boxes of ammo for a Mosin Nagant rifle, which I do not own. DO NOT trust them for any advice on weapons and ammo. I failed to double check and no I get to eat $80 of ammo. read more

I went here for chicken feed and coop supplies. They had everything I needed at reasonable prices: crumble, scratch, oyster shell, grit, and pine shavings. The staff was friendly above measure Austin helped me in the parking lot before I even went into the store! I was struggling with three small children and they were patient and understood. Too much of a " I know more than you do" attitude at the gun counter with some of those guys for me. Besides that you might find a deal every so often. The ghetto neighbor is a negative and discourages me to go in as it's not uncommon to get a hooker or pan handler to come up to you. read more

Ok, I love this store! I visit the sister store in Ely Nevada, and I love that one too! This store is huge, curvature of the earth huge, and clean, love a clean establishment! They have clothing, hats, boots, birdseed, bird feeders, horse tac, and gear, toys, home decorations, jewelry, camping, hunting, I mean what do you need, they have it all! I like a one-stop-shop and Cal-Ranch does not disappoint. The staff is friendly and helpful and their merchandise is top-notch. When their clothing is on sale, it really is on sale. ((I got a beautiful sweater for almost nothing)). This is a must-see retailer, every time I come I am impressed, they have that yummy black licorice too. They finally opened one here! Previously this was only a treat while in Cedar UT. This store has everything from lawn maintenance and animal food to gun safes and western clothing. They even have country home decor and old fashioned candy. You know those candy dots on a strip of paper? They also had bottled cheerwine! I haven't drank one of those in ages. The best part of this store is that every single employee is as nice as can be. My kids keep asking to go back! read more

I've always had a good experience here. Everyone has always been kind. The customer service is usually pretty good, considering the staffing problems we have nowadays, so I'm not gonna hold that against them. Even when they're short staffed, they always find time to help me with whatever I need. Whenever I need help to carry things out to my truck, they find somebody to help me. This place is great. Has everything from hunting gear to home decor. I love coming in and walking all the isles checking everything out. This is were my imagination soars, I see a role of copper wire, but for me it's great for making my copper jewelry items and so much cheaper! I find things on the shelves that may be used on a farm or ranch one way, but for me, I can figure out another use for it! And in the basket it goes. They have a great selection of feed for all sorts of animals, and they even have some baby chicks, come in just to check them out under the warming lights, they are so cute! Great store! read more

Very poor Customer service. Tried to purchase a shot gun from them and was given 1 day notice to purchase or my background check would expire. I called repeatedly to check status and was promised a return calls but never got one. Checked my call history on my phone and they placed no calls to me. My schedule wouldn't allow me to meet the deadline so I lose my background check fee and the shot gun. It didn't seem to matter much to me. Poor customer service. read more

So today I was in the store again and saw a product that I was interested in but wanted to wait. When I got home I decided to call and see if they had more and how much. The lady on the phone was rude, n refused to go look or send anyone to check the quantity and price for me, telling me to "take a picture of the ups or bring it to the counter to be scanned". I gave this store a 5 Star because I went there to purchase a handgun and found it in stock. I bought a cheap Taurus G2C. The person helping me was knowledgeable and had good customer service. He was really busy, he was by himself and there were about 5-6 people in line waiting to pick up their handguns. He handled it like a boss. I was able to find everything I needed except for 9mm ammo, but it was out pretty much everywhere. The store was clean and the staff were helpful. I would go back to purchase another handgun...after the Rona craze. read more

24 days later, I have my firearm! I bumped up my rating from 1 to 3 stars, not because I finally got my gun, but because I was made aware by the store manager (I believe his name is Michael) that my original AF Form 4473 was not lost or stolen, but rather destroyed by two employees that weren't supposed to do so. He couldn't go into great detail about what happened, but only to say that my personal information on the form was never exposed to others and the two employees are no longer with the company. I'm relieved to know that my personal information is not out on the streets somewhere. Although customer service did step up to address my situation and give me a modest discount for the Form 4473 mishap, I still take one star away for the mishap and another star for lack of systems modernization. They should have been set up a long time ago to submit background check applications through the online system like most FFL gun dealers in LV. 24 days to clear the background check and receive your firearm is way to long for anyone to wait. I'll be back to CAL Ranch Stores because they have a great firearms and equipment department, but not until they modernize their background check systems. read more

Hello I'm 20 years old. I Literally just went in the store to purchase 9mm ammo for my Ruger PC Carbine, sure enough to say these people told me I can't purchase 9mm ammo under 21, I didn't want to cause any problems for them so I just left. I legally purchased the rifle and was told I can buy ammo for it any time. Not by this store, but they are discriminating. The law doesn't prohibit me from purchasing 9mm ammo for rifles. I just went to another gun store and I haven't told them I have a rifle, they asked me... and they let me purchase the ammo. Get your laws and facts straight, and stop discriminating against young black people. read more

It was Christmas Eve and I understand they were closing in two minutes I needed screws and asked and they said they couldn't help us. The doors didn't say it closes at 6pm. They totally judged our appearance too. As we walked out I heard laughing and a couple of cowboys just walked in and they said absolutely nothing to them about what time they were closing. I was recommended this spot by a discount firearm employee. I went in selected my fire arm and paid 25$ for the background check. Two weeks later and I hear nothing. I give them a call and they say it is taking longer than usual. So I wait several days later at this point it's been 3 weeks and some change. Still no word or call. I just called today, the guy answers and I ask him about the status of my background. He put me on hold and after 3 minutes he hangs up on me. So I call back and this time no answer. I call back again and the same guy picks up and he tells me that the background check never came back so he has to resend it again and that he won't charge me like he's doing me a favor. He give me a attitude like I am burdened him. I paid my 25 bucks and never got an answer back. Last time I checked they are supposed to let you know yes or no for the background check by LAW. Apparently based on prior reviews they have done this to several people. Therefore this is clearly bad and shady business practices. Charging people 25$ and not full filing their end of the deal. Terrible experience I do not recommend this store due to unfair practice. read more

So we swung by the new CAL Ranch Store today to check it out. I had noticed it a couple of weeks ago driving on US95 and read up on it on Yelp when I got home. I quickly found out that this is a place for my husband to check out for sure. I kept pestering him to go check it out and he finally listened to me today! We weren't quite sure what to expect, but we knew it would be a outdoorsman funhouse from the reviews I had read. And boy did we love it! It does have a little bit of everything and is much like a Sportsman Warehouse, Bass Pro Shops, General Store, and Feed Shop all rolled into one huge building. If you haven't been, go check it out to just see all of the stuff. You never know, you might find something you never knew you needed. My hubby is all into guns, so we made a beeline to that department. I think my husband's eyes popped out of his head when we saw the selection. He has been looking for the Ruger American Rifle in the .308 caliber for at least a year and just couldn't find it anywhere. It is a super hot selling gun and no one could keep it on the selves. Well what do you know, we walked up to the counter and straight ahead of us was the long searched for Ruger American Rifle .308 staring at my hubby. Needless to say, we spent a lot of money at the CAL store today, but I have a happy hubby now. On top of the gun section purchases, my husband stocked up on some camping and fishing supplies. They have a little bit of everything and will most likely have what you are looking for. The selection isn't as vast as Bass Pro, but still decent in most categories. My favorite part, as well as my daughter's favorite part were the baby chicks they have to buy. Yep, baby chicks, the world's cutest things EVER. They actually had several varieties of chickens, as well as turkey and duck chicks. We are city folk, so no chicks today, but the 2 of us tried our hardest to talk Daddy into a baby chick, but he was a party pooper. Needless to say, we had a blast checking out the new store and will visit from time to time. Why you ask? Well because the prices were good, in fact several of the big ticket items we bought today we checked against Amazon while at the store, and CAL was cheaper! A really nice store but as a professional courtesy they should always honor their sale items while their in stock or not and make allowances to other items of equal or less value. Unfortunately that the staff said "sorry can't do it" you will have to buy the more expensive ones. After spending more money than we had planned because they advertise sale items then being told I would have to spend more money we go to check out and are treating extremely rudely by the girl at the counter. Even though the merchandise in the store is good I can't say I will be going back anytime soon. Not to mention the individuals outside the store with obvious metal issues that make it very scary to get to and from your car. read more

I happened upon this place while searching for stores where I could get chicken feed. One day, while out on a run, I found a chicken. Now, it's Las Vegas, we live in a developed area, but I was extatic to discover due to living in unincorporated Clark County, I am allowed to have up to 3 hens!!! So, of to CAL we went. The first time through, we were late for dinner with my parents, so we just stopped in for the food. We then decided that no one was going to claim the found chicken (we tried to find an owner), and that we needed a coop to keep her safe and away from the dogs. So, we returned the next day to purchase a small pre-fab coop. The guy who helped us the night before was working again when we came back in. He helped us carry and load our pre-fab into the car. He was friendly, knowledgable and extremely helpful. He also remembered us from the day before. We now stop in about once every 4-6 weeks for feed. It's not close to us, but it's literally at the exit we take for my parents house (a 2 minute drive away) and we visit them regularly, so it's kind of in our area. We've had great service each time and no complaints. The boy also likes the gun/ammo selection and we like to just walk around and see everything they have. I'm somewhat excited for chick season (they do not have them all year round) although I wont be purchasing any as I now have 2 hens and don't have or want a setup for chicks. read more

So I drove past this place for a long time and asked my fiends if they have ever gone to tho store. One of my friends has and told me that they were racist and had bad customer service. I didn't believe him and I was curious so I went to the store. Wow when I first entered it was big with just about everything in there, it was almost like a mini bass pro shop but for farming and country people. I walked up and down each aisle, and picked up some random things that I thought were cool. Then I strolled to the firearms section to the far right of the entrance. The associate was helping a customer so I waited about 5 feet from the counter and stood there quietly so they could ask if I needed anything. I waited as he finished answering the customers questions. I stood there after the customer left. I stood there quietly as the associate behind the desk glanced at me and went behind his cash register, and after another minute of silence I got tired of feeling ignored and felt like, Wow really!? How can they ignore a customer like that?? So I got mad and walked off to see if I could find some rope. (I know i'm random.) As I walked away this other associate just walking by asked me if I needed any help and I asked her about the firearms and ammo. She went to the firearms section and I followed. They seemed to ignore her for a little bit and then they answered her questions. I wanted to buy some ammo but on of the guys behind the desk said you must be over 21 to buy ammo claiming it was, "some company policy." that comment was straight BS and I made my opinion clear that it wasn't true. The other guy radioed if they could sell me ammo. The answer was as long as they are older than 18. I bought my ammo, got my rope, and left. I was disappointed in how rude they can be by ignoring and falsifying information to discourage me from buying what i wanted.. It's like saying we don't want your business.
