We stopped by this place on a whim while driving to Long Beach. What a great decision! Even though it was pretty late in the evening and it was getting close to closing time, our server couldn't have been any more friendly and helpful. In fact, she and the owner were so nice and there was no effort to hurry us along. I had to try the stuffed sandwich since it is was advertised as famous. It lived up to the hype. I chose the Greek version because our server and I share the same opinion about what is good. It's a bit messy but it's huge and tasted great. The tots were also perfect. The diner itself is decorated with vintage signs and the various tables reminded us of our childhood kitchen tables. I suggest you skip the fast food in town and go here. This is a cute, classic retro diner. The food was very good, esp. the stuffed sandwich and the waitress was very efficient. She was the only one there and was very busy; but, she remained very attentive to everyone. The reason for 3 stars is the long wait we had for our food. It was almost an hour for us to receive 2 sandwiches with someone who came in after us getting his meal first. The moment we walked in I knew it was going to be good. Our server was fantastic. We received everything just as ordered. Hot & crispy Onion rings...are a must! They have a French Dip to die for... not too much bread! My Husband got the Greek Stuffed Sandwich & said it was very good. We tried the Criss Cut fries & the Sweet Potato Fries...yumm to all. Unbelievably good sandwich and chowder! The service was outstanding as well. We have been traveling up Hwy 101 for 10 hours. We were hungry and took a chance on this little gem. It didn't look like much and we almost went to DQ next door instead. We had the Greek stuffed sandwich which is better than any gyro I've ever had. As a local, I eat here often! One of my first choices in town. Huge menu to choose from!! Pizza, sandwiches, burgers, chowder, sides a plenty! They have alot to offer and a little something for everyone! As a local these are my top recommendations, a stuffed sandwich; these come in like maybe 8 different variations. My go to is a stuffed all meat, which has Ham Turkey and salami, lettuce, tomatoes and cheese. The Greek is also a really solid choice sort of like a gyro. Two other stuffed sandwiches that I have had and enjoyed are the chicken fajita and the taco. C & C also has some terrific pizza options. True to the 50's diner theme they are named after vintage cars. "The mustang" "the Cadillac" and "the roadster" for examples. A unique and fun option for pizza is the flaming hot Cheetoes pizza, popular with teens crushed spicy Cheetoes on top of a cheese pizza! Seriously a fun one to try! I also recommend the cris cut fries with their fabulous ranch! Cutting the carbs? Try a salad they have several to choose from and big enough to share! Ever watch Seinfeld? Elaine would love these "Big Salads"! I love the option to take meals to go, as a full time worker of the healthcare industry we often have limited break time and it's nice to call in an order and run to pick it up. Typically they are fast (unless busy). They are prompt about answering the phones and very friendly. One last note, their spaghetti is also really good!!!! This is the best restaurant on the West Coast. It is a nostalgic 50's diner that still holds all of your favorite memories of the good ol' days. A great meal that was cooked with pride, served to you by a waitress who is sweet as pie, in a squeaky clean restaurant run by the family, all while you reminisce on the decor and listen to some good tunes.
