Only been here twice, but both time food has been incredible. This seems to be the most popular food spot in Raymond and I can definitely see why. Great service, food came pretty quick and very hot and fresh. Another part of Pitchwood I find endearing is their Wednesday open mic nights. However, when I finally got to go to one of them, I was rather disappointed. Don't go excepting anything but extremely basic Country, I'm too much of a music nerd to find much special in what's played there. If you come here with expectations on food high they will be reached, just don't come expecting unique music experiences. read more

I stopped in here on a Tuesday afternoon with a group of 11. (4 adults - 7 kids) At first we were unsure of how it was going to go, there seemed to be only one bartender taking care of the entire place. Everything ended up great, food and drinks came out fast, everything we ordered was correct. Resturant was clean, bathrooms were clean, and the place had a lot of character. I wanted to like this place more. The building has character, the menu looks promising, and I can see why a place like this matters in a small town. Unfortunately, our visit just did not land. The bartender appeared to be doing double duty as server, and I understand what that can do to a shift. I spent about ten years working tables and other service jobs, so I have a lot of sympathy for being overworked. Still, the service felt more than rushed. It felt brusque enough that we did not feel especially welcome. The food was passable. Nothing terrible, but nothing that made us want to come back. The local beer was also a surprise, since it did not taste especially fresh. Maybe this was an off night. I hope so. There is clearly a good idea here, but our experience was a bit of a disappointment. read more

I played music at this establishment and I was extremely impressed with the experience. The food, atmosphere, drinks and service were on point. There wasn't a ton of people there but the ones that were there had a great time and had a great vibe. The musicians were well taken care of by the staff. The bar, kitchen, stage, sound and atmosphere were all a great experience. I highly recommend this place for other musicians, people passing through for lunch or a beer or even people staying in town. The Pitchwood inn offers great rooms at a great price. The food is good quality and served up quickly. I had their tacos for there taco Tuesday special. I also tried their nachos which were excellent! Staff were friendly and attentive. Very casual ambiance, good for the whole family but more adult oriented. The interior definitely harkens to the buildings logger roots, taxidermy on the walls and a wood stove. We stopped in to Pitchwood on the way back home from Astoria. I was craving a burger and this place nailed it. The music was pretty loud for a Sunday afternoon, but the food was good. I really did enjoy my burger, which was touted the best in southwest Washington. For some reason the fries weren't my favorite but I did enjoy the burger. I got the standard bacon cheeseburger and added a fried egg. They also had some local beer on tap and a full bar. The bartended had a pretty big drink order when we got there, so it took awhile to put in our food order. Other than that it was a good place to stop. read more

I stop at this place every time I go through Raymond, which is usually a few times per year for the past six years or so. They have excellent pub fries, which are my gold standard. My companions enjoy the burgers, and I like that they will sub a veggie patty in any burger without an up charge. I don't usually see the same server, but all of the ones I've seen over the years have been very nice and good at their jobs. There's been some remodeling and they now have a great looking outdoor space I'm excited to try. The inside has a rustic look and there is a stage for a band. I've also stayed at their motel a few times and it is very cute and comfortable. Each room has a different decor and the finish work is very well done. I can't wait to go back! read more

On our recent trip to Raymond, Washington, we stayed at the Pitchwood Alehouse and Inn. First, the inn part. Because we extended our stay, we had two separate rooms. Both about the same; one with a king bed and the other a queen bed. The king bed room was taken up mostly by the bed; no kitchen, an area with a couple of chairs and a small end table, and an incredibly small bathroom. There was less that foot between the toilet and the sink and, even for a skinny guy like me, the shower was almost impossible to turn around in and was very uncomfortable. The queen bed room has a little more room. The bed and a "closet" were against one wall, then a "kitchen" table with three chairs. This room was, obviously, for extended stays since there was a small, very cramped kitchen area. The bathroom was, once again, very cramped. This time the toilet faced a cabinet with just enough room between them to step up on a platform that held them. The sink area was so small that a left handed person wouldn't be able to shave comfortably. The shower was something you would find in the basement of a house and would hold an average adult. There was no air conditioning in either room and with the 90 degree plus temperatures while there, it was difficult to sleep. When we decided to stay another night, the bar tender/host said we could stay in a particular room and would leave the key on the door so we could get up and change rooms before housekeeping began. We knew there was a problem when there was no key and appeared that the room we were to move to was occupied. Some one screwed up. There was no one available to figure things out, until the housekeeping manager(?) came and demanded we be out of the room by 11:00 and telling me that we wouldn't be able to move in to the room until checkin time of 3:00pm. I told her that was unacceptable, that this was a problem THEY created and refused to vacate until our new room was ready. I never understood why they couldn't clean the room we were moving into first, since the occupant had to be out by a 11:00 and we could move in after it was cleaned. Evidently, they have a sequence they clean the rooms by and weren't amiable to changing that order. After a few terse words, the new room was done by 2:00pm and we moved in, leaving them an hour to clean the old room. Now, the alehouse side. The service is ok, if not slow. The young man who seemed to be the main waitperson, often looked confused and as if he wasn't sure what to do. We saw his photo on a banner of the 2025 high school graduates and understood his dilemma: no experience. The Alehouse has a good selection of beers and a decent menu from the kitchen. It's rustic appearance makes for a pleasant experience. However, an incident with the cook's actions were inappropriate and uncalled for. I have spent a great deal of time in that area. In fact, I was stationed in Naselle and used to go up to Raymond to play golf. The Long Beach peninsula has the Oysterville Sea Farms - world renowned for their hand-farmed oysters. Of course, they have a restaurant. Not one for raw oysters, I prefer mine pan fried (not deep fried). And, that was the cause of the "ruckus" at the Pitchwood Alehouse. On their menu, they offered fried (deep fried) and pan fried, but when my order of pan fried came out, they looked and tasted like deep fried, meaning raw in the middle and covered with a thick crispy batter. The difference is pan fried are not cooked the same way as deep fried. Pan fried are lightly dipped in flour or cornmeal and placed in the pan of butter (to prevent sticking) - they are NOT covered with a batter. The look and texture of the finish oyster between a deep fried and pan fried are apparent. When I sent them back, the cook stormed up to the table and displayed a pan with two or three inches of grease at the bottom. There was enough grease in the bottom to qualify as deep fried. It was nowhere near pan fried. A rather one side conversation occurred while I tried to explain the difference, but he would have none of it: his way was always right. Since I wasn't going to have him cook anything for me again while we were there, I ordered a nice salad the next time. It was well prepared and tasty. Three stars (one less for the cook's lack of dealing with customers and complaints). read more

We love the Pitchwood! We timed a passport application at the Raymond post office with the opening of this restaurant knowing it would fill up later. Lunch was great as was the service. They have a great menu of beers on tap including a couple from our fave brewery, Fort George (Astoria). I tried the Farmers Annuary IPA and loved it. Hubby tried some and switched from 'Everyone Loves Raymond' to this. He even found us some canned in Westport the next day! Yay! I wasn't feeling up for a burger despite loving Pitchwood's Goat in the Garden (hubby got this one!). I was channeling the goat cheese and ended up with the Goat Cheese Flatbread. It was big but I went for it as it was too good not to finish. The crust is almost like a cracker which I love as it lets the toppings shine (roasted red peppers, mushroom, goat cheese, garlic and basil). Our daughter had no hesitation zeroing in on the Easy-E burger (with egg) and devoured it and the delicious handcut fries. Kids menu is good with several options for picky eaters like my son who opted for the chicken tenders. So glad it worked out so well to pop in here one last time for 2022! read more

On our way to the coast for a camping weekend a few weeks ago we searched for burgers and pulled up the Pitchwood. We called to see if they were dog friendly, and the gal said, "Yes, for well behaved dogs." Fortunately not a problem. My wife and I and our friends each had to park our RVs a couple blocks away, but no big deal. It was nice to walk in and see the locals belly up to the bar, and all the old decor, and some great beer selections from Fort George among others. Charity poured us some beers and we set up outside under the covered seating area. There's a bar, fire pit and tables out there's. Pretty cool. We ordered different burgers, fries, onion rings, and everything was fantastic. It's not the best I've had but darn good, and perfect for bar food. The best part though was how we ones we felt and how fun and friendly Charity was. Great service takes good to spectacular in my book. Noteworthy, was the amazingly fresh and very cold beer from super clean taps. We went to Fort George the next day and we all agreed the Vortex IPA on tap was better tasting than at the brewery itself. Super impressed! I'm taking my daughter out for a few days today and we're stopping bay the Pitchwood. Great find. Thanks guys! read more

We were very happy with our room at Pitchwood Inn, and our dinner at the Alehouse was delicious. The room was spotlessly clean and new. You can't hear any activity from the Alehouse at all. Very pleasant surprise, would definitely stay there again. read more

Salad had rotten lettuce and rotten grapes (There were only 3 grapes in the salad that was supposed to have grapes.) Edges of all the leaves were brown. My husband's salad had Walnuts on it. They were rancid. flatbread pizza was quite good. read more

The POSITIVES: The interior of the room is rustic, quaint and homey. Nice TV with cable, and drip coffee maker. The rooms are clean and accommodating. Check in and check out were quick and easy. The staff are VERY FRIENDLY. The food is pretty good. The IMPROVEMENTS: The bathroom had no towel racks. In a humid environment this is essential. The beds had no box springs or even a flat board, but spaced 2x4's that inevitably left an uncomfortable sleep. The light outside shines directly in front of the bed occupants inside through the front door. A close tight curtain would be an easy quick fix. We used a towel in the meantime. Overall: GOOD I really wanted to give this 4 stars but the restless nights combined with the deficiencies and dump truck Tuesday morning (before dawn) made me hard pressed to rate otherwise. read more

I picked this restaurant because the have..had oysters on the menu. When I ordered raw oysters I was told they had none for a three menu items. I was very disappointed. The clams were a sad substitute. Lacked flavor! Burgers were good. Chicken wrap was good. Service was okay. Dill dressing that was meant to be ranch was odd! This was such a great place to stay and eat. This is a mom and pop type inn with a small bar that is obviously a local hot spot. The place was full of people. We had a cute little kitchenette room with the bar and restaurant just a few steps away. The bed was very comfy and the room had recently been updated and was very clean. I had the steamers and pub fries and hubby had the french dip. The steamers we amazing, not to mention a generous portion. The pub fires are for the garlic lover, they were delicious! The french dip was a good size sandwich with a nice portion of meat in it. The fries are hand-cut and that's a big deal to us, we love hand-cut fries. Food was okay and they were very busy as it looks like they're the only game in town after 9pm. We had no other choices. Bartender was nice, especially considering he was doing 15 things at once. Sucks their oven was broken so no pizza. Some rowdy folks in the place but alcohol will do that. They also have a sign out front that says masks required when inside, probably because the tables weren't separated at all. 98% of the people, including the bartender were not wearing masks. That is a mixed single. Either erase the chalk board they wrote on or wear masks. read more

Worst nachos ever! I gave them two stars because the rest of my group liked their food. Menu states hand cut potato chips. I was delivered nachos made on commercial totilla chips with some kind of weird liquid cheese of an odd color. After sending them back and asking for real cheese I was delivered over cooked chips that were hard and dark brown. There were no hand cut potato chips present in either plate. I didn't send them back a second time. I just brought them home for my dog. That is what it resembled, dog food. read more

My second fantabulous meal today! First, a server was bringing out platefuls of blueberries from her daughter's farm. Fresh and tasty! I then ordered the Lazy Boy Amber and the Black & Bleu Burger with crispy onion rings for the side. All was so filling I was unable to finish...leaving a few bites of burger and onion ring, and drank all the beer! This was a pleasant surprise in a small town off the main road. Great service, food and clean rooms...stopped here on an overnight cycling trip, my buddies and I had been riding for most of the day and were very hungry and THIRSTY. Staff is more safety conscious about the COVID thing than most business' I've been to recently. Had a great Salad and garlic fries with a couple cold IPA's. The only place to stop in Raymond. No, seriously. This is it, for local flavor. There's nothing else of note. Happily, that's ok! Atmosphere is small town roadhouse, all woody and divey, with a stage, old license plates, solid mid-range booze, mostly. The taps are fun and diverse (I recommend sticking with the local Willapa Bay Brewery offerings. Their Brown Ale loves food!). Charity, our server, was upbeat and nearly perfect; cheerful, smart, attentive, quick, knew the menu. I've had worse service in the best Seattle restaurants. She's awesome. The menu is a sandwich fest. Not a ton of surprises. Don't get a salad, it's just taco toppings on lettuce with forgettable dressings. They are proud of their Ruben and folks often mention the burgers...whatever. For my money, (and the reason this is a four rather than a three star joint) the oyster sandwich here is the go-to, can't-miss item. The ciabatta roll has a good tooth, the creamy herb of the tartar sets off the crispy, well-seasoned but not over-fried oysters, the veg is fresh (if a little onion-heavy). Shmear a healthy knifeful of the tartar on a corner of the sandwich, and take a Dagwood bite...rich briney (but not fishy, that's key) oyster goodness. Oh yeah. If someone asks, "What the heck are you doing in Raymond?!" you might well answer, "I'm here for the sandwich." It's that good. Would love to see some more non-sandwich offerings. Creative original cocktails would be welcome too. Good enough to use as a regular stop on your 101 road trip, for sure! I'll be thinking about that sandwich for a while...Recommended. read more

Despite some minor shortcomings, I like Pitchwood Alehouse. We spent a couple of nights here recently, since we needed to be in the area due to a family emergency. Found a great deal on a room, booked it, and headed into town. They have really weird hours... 3pm-9pm? I mean, I know it's a small town, but that's a really small window for check-in, getting food/drink, or any other activity for that matter. Anyway, we got there really late around 8:20 (by their standards), but our bartender/concierge, Jamie, was super friendly and accomodating. We didn't want to put her out, so we asked if it would be okay to have a drink before we headed to our room. She said she would be there until at least 9:30, and we were free to hang out. We got some food, and some drinks and checked in to our room. While there, I got a chance to meet and chat with the owners, and they were very friendly and good people. The atmosphere is very rustic, and definitely has a dive bar feel, which I love. The food we ordered was standard bar food (pizza, fries, that sort of thing), but tasted good. The beer selection was pretty decent for a small town, and I think they had somewhere in the neighborhood of 15 taps... don't quote me on that. We also had a few jello shots, since they were on super special (leftover from Halloween, I think). Holy crap, the jello shots were strong. Anyway, the bar area is cool, and they have live music every now and again, with regular open mic nights every week. The room was nice. Very clean, with a rustic feel (we were in #2), and a nice king size bed. The only shortcoming for the room was the "oven". There was a large oven/fridge/sink unit in the corner, but I was skeptical when I saw a separate mini fridge right next to it. We tried to turn in on, but alas, it is there solely to function as a sink. I mean, it looks cool and all, but why leave it there to get your guests' hopes up? At least put a microwave in the room as a consolation... or just get rid of the whole unit and put a sink in there. Other than that, I really enjoyed our experience at Pitchwood. If I was ever in the area again, I'd definitely stop by for a drink, and if I needed a place to stay, I'd stay here. Cool spot! read more
