    Tacos (taco Tuesday)
    Trentin P.

The food is good quality and served up quickly. I had their tacos for there taco Tuesday special. I also tried their nachos which were excellent! Staff were friendly and attentive. Very casual ambiance, good for the whole family but more adult oriented. The interior definitely harkens to the buildings logger roots, taxidermy on the walls and a wood stove. Highly recommend this place.

    Bacon cheeseburger with fried egg

We stopped in to Pitchwood on the way back home from Astoria. I was craving a burger and this place nailed it. The music was pretty loud for a Sunday afternoon, but the food was good. I really did enjoy my burger, which was touted the best in southwest Washington. For some reason the fries weren't my favorite but I did enjoy the burger. I got the standard bacon cheeseburger and added a fried egg. They also had some local beer on tap and a full bar. The bartended had a pretty big drink order when we got there, so it took awhile to put in our food order. Other than that it was a good place to stop.

I stop at this place every time I go through Raymond, which is usually a few times per year for the past six years or so. They have excellent pub fries, which are my gold standard. My companions enjoy the burgers, and I like that they will sub a veggie patty in any burger without an up charge. I don't usually see the same server, but all of the ones I've seen over the years have been very nice and good at their jobs. There's been some remodeling and they now have a great looking outdoor space I'm excited to try. The inside has a rustic look and there is a stage for a band. I've also stayed at their motel a few times and it is very cute and comfortable. Each room has a different decor and the finish work is very well done. I can't wait to go back!

Goat in the Garden burger with the delicious handcut fries

We love the Pitchwood! We timed a passport application at the Raymond post office with the opening of this restaurant knowing it would fill up later. Lunch was great as was the service. They have a great menu of beers on tap including a couple from our fave brewery, Fort George (Astoria). I tried the Farmers Annuary IPA and loved it. Hubby tried some and switched from 'Everyone Loves Raymond' to this. He even found us some canned in Westport the next day! Yay! I wasn't feeling up for a burger despite loving Pitchwood's Goat in the Garden (hubby got this one!). I was channeling the goat cheese and ended up with the Goat Cheese Flatbread. It was big but I went for it as it was too good not to finish. The crust is almost like a cracker which I love as it lets the toppings shine (roasted red peppers, mushroom, goat cheese, garlic and basil). Our daughter had no hesitation zeroing in on the Easy-E burger (with egg) and devoured it and the delicious handcut fries. Kids menu is good with several options for picky eaters like my son who opted for the chicken tenders. So glad it worked out so well to pop in here one last time for 2022!

No box spring, prepare for a restless night sleep.

Sunday is the best day, it's taco day Coming in on a Sunday afternoon and interacting with the staff- the waitress Rebecca who works behind the bar (she usually has mermaid colored hair) is always super friendly and easy to talk to when we have questions, as well as being attentive and you always see her eye roaming, checking in with everyone to make sure they have what they need and if they need any refills- I have seen her be super rushed when everyone has decided to come in and enjoy some time there all at once and she efficiently runs through her routine, always taking her time to make sure to present the best customer service. And oh my gosh, as much as I love their tacos... their burgers and fries are super amazing. It's often hard to decide which I want more! I expect when you come around to visit and check out the food, you'll be met with the same hard decision but my suggestion is to try them both.

It's not big...less than a dozen tables inside, there is outdoor seating, and when the weather is nice I bet it's a great place to be on a warm summer evening. Right on the water, with views of the boats. Ilwaco itself is a bit of a dungy town, but this place offers some delicious dishes, and the ambience is cozy, & romantic. We were immediately seated, as we were the only ones at the restaurant on this cold, wet PNW day. We both ordered a cup of their crab bisque. Delicious. It really hit the spot, and warmed up our cold bones. What I really liked about it was it wasn't too salty! Both my husband and I added a bit of salt and that elevated the flavor, but I liked that the chef didn't over salt it, and gave me the choice of how much sodium I wanted to add. My husband wished he had ordered a bowl. It is delightful, flavorful and a decent amount of crab in it, as well. (I enjoyed it so much, I forgot to take a picture of it!!) The chef really knows his stuff and has a great flavor profile on the menu. My husband ordered the Helm Burger with tots. He gave them two thumbs up. The burger patty looked fresh homemade, as opposed to frozen bought at Costco. It was a decent size, & thick and juicy. With the addition of bacon to it, he was greatly satisfied. I ordered the Deckhand. Let me tell you, this was a delicious sandwich! The pork is tender and juicy, the sauce is sweet but not overly so. The picked added a wonderful crispy texture along with the sweetness of the caramelized onions....it was a tastebud explosion. So good. And so filling. I had to take 1/2 home and was a bit annoyed when I found my husband ate it the next day for lunch! I guess that just means I'll have to go back sooner than later to order it again. I'd like to also mention that the tater tots were perfectly fried and crispy! The waitress from friendly and attentive and the chef was sweet and so pleased with our compliments. Don't wait a moment longer. Get yourself to Ilwaco and check this gem of a place out! You won't be disappointed.

For a moment, I thought I had somehow took a wrong turn and had driven into rural Ireland. I was curious. I knew I had to check it out on our return drive home later in the day. Unfortunately, the hours posted to Yelp and Google were incorrect; either that, or the proprietors had closed early that Sunday night. Either way, they were gracious enough to let us poke about a bit before leaving, and I have to say, we will likely be making a special trip to revisit this place in the near future. The interior is warm, dimly lit, and filled with the heartwarming aroma of wood smoke from the black iron furnace, and Irish stew simmering in the kitchen. Lots of love and personal touches have been included in the interior decor: vintage artwork, framed and loose pictures, posters and newspaper clippings, antiques, tchotchkies, your standard neon bar signs, and hard wood furniture. It looks and feels lived in: a living history museum of the region, which apparently has more history than one would ascertain from driving through this tiny hamlet. Looking forward to knocking back a few drinks and enjoying a hearty meal here someday soon.
