We were passing through town, on our way home from the beach. Planning to stop at our usual oyster bar in South Bend, we were very disappointed to discover that every place along the way was closed at 5pm on a Saturday! We came across the Barge headed into Raymond, and made a u-turn at the roundabout to come back, having seen the 'Open' sign. We were not disappointed - the staff was incredibly friendly and helpful with our decisions. Given the Covid lockdown, they aren't doing the usual chowders & soups right now, but the salad was great, and the Oyster platter was fantastic! It's tough for businesses to navigate the best method for making their places compliant, but these guys have really done a great job! My only recommendation is to make the menu easier to find online; this would help with call-ahead orders. read more

I have lived in the area all of my adult life (16+ years) and never had gone into the Barge for a meal. Not sure why, I had heard it was expensive for the area and just never seemed like a place anyone wanted to eat. Finally tried it today for breakfast. The best thing about it is the view. Sat at a back table and watched the geese and other birds fly and swim around the willapa river. Me And my friend who invited me were the only two people in the building at 10 am. Not a good sign. I can't complain about my food, there was nothing nessicarily bad about the food. But I also have nothing to rave about. 9.99 for an omlet a small amount of fried potatoes, and two peices of rye bread. There was not a lot of flavor to the omelet. I could have made it the same at home had to add tapatio hot sauce to it for better flavor. The coffee was rather poor, probably foldgers or a generic brand. Service was great, but when you are the only people in the whole place, the waitress doesn't have much else to do. I would not have breakfast here again. But possibly I'll try it for lunch or dinner sometime. As I said the view was pretty great, I think at sunset it might be very beautiful. read more

First time dining from out of town. Was excited to find the dining room was mostly empty and we were told to sit wherever we liked. Picked a table in the back of the restaurant with a beautiful view of the water. The tables were nicely set, and made me feel like I was in a treat for a nice dinner. We were handed menus that were in plastic bag protectors that you put your high school notes into a three-ring-binder with. Interesting choice for a restaurant whose average entree price is $15.99. The food was okay, nothing special about it. Basic presentation, basic menu description, nothing spieled by our waitress, and I honestly couldn't tell if my $16 Halibut was fresh or frozen. The waitress slowly started to stop caring about us throughout our time there. I received my starter salad before my friend, and when we brought it to our waitresses attention, we she still didn't bring out the salad until after everyone else at the table had received their entrees. My friend had to wait longer for her entree at this point. The waitress immediately ran into the back, were she remained most of the night despite the fact that we were the only ones in the restaurant. At the end of our meal when we asked to split the check, our waitress verbally sighed and told us she had already added the total. After decently awkward silence, she told us she would go in the back and ask for help recalculating the total. We could tell she was annoyed with us for this. We arrived for breakfast on a Saturday morning about 9am. There were a few folks there and a busy, attentive, server made us feel welcome immediately. The view of the river was serene and it was easy to forget that 101 was out the front door as we faced the other direction looking on a beautiful part of the wetlands (not sure if it is a river exactly). Even with overcast skies the view was lovely. I ordered waffles and chose bacon and it isn't like Denny's where you get 2 slices. I think there were 4 slices. My daughter ordered biscuits and gravy. Both of us were very pleased with our food. It was good--perhaps not out-of-this-world amazing, but all things considered, it was really good. (The syrup was a bit runny and didn't have as much flavor as I am accustomed to...about my only complaint.) I would definitely go to the Barge for breakfast again. :-) read more

So I grow in Raymond, graduated from Raymond high school. Ate in this restaurant a few times when I was a kid. Today, My bf/i came into the restaurant to have a breakfast just before noon and were told by the waitress that they were start serving dinner since it's Sunday and since it's almost noon. However, we were denied breakfast but they were serving the local who came into the restaurant after us breakfast. We asked to speak to the owner who was also the cook to come to talk to us but 5 mins later she told the waitress to tell us that she will not come out to talk to us and that she was too busy. Wow! Thanks for the horrible experience at your restaurant and thanks for your shitty hospitality at your restaurant. It's a shame that I have to write to you on fb/Yelp for you to hear a piece of my mind. So the one star is for the view and cleanliness. After that...NO WAY. It was freezing cold in the restaurant. After my 78 yr old Mom brought that to the attention of the waitress, she said, yup, it is. Patty Melt has hard fresh onions and bread was HARD. The highlight of the meal, sadly, were the fries. My wife and I enjoyed a great early dinner Saturday (4-18-15) the service was great and the food was very good, I had the clam strip dinner and my wife had the days special (prime rib dip) Both our meals were very very good the prime rib was very tasty and tender as can be, my dinner came with coleslaw and it was the best I have ever had, and I have been eating slaw for 50 years. This is a classy, family-run restaurant that is just great. First off, the young wait staff aim to please, and they work very hard to provide first-class service. The view is great. While we were sitting there, a doe & her 2 fawns darted across the parking lot. The tables are covered in white cloth, fresh flowers, real cups & silverware. Now, I had a bowl of taco soup, and it was a meal in itself. Homemade, filled with vegetables and meat. The Barge caters events, hosts class reunions, post-funeral gatherings, etc. With its convenient location and good food, I totally recommend the Barge. The wine selection is just as weak. The owners obviously don't drink. There isn't really much to say about the interior. It's very basic. Clean and comfortable, but boring. All things considered, I wouldn't go out of my way to recommend it to my friends, but if you're rolling through Raymond looking for a reasonably-priced, quiet lunch, the Barge will easily fill the need. read more

I was right in some ways; the hostess and waitresses were extremely friendly. The menu didn't seem to have anything special on it; my boyfriend ordered a burger and I ordered the chopped steak. My dinner came with a salad, which was kind of a joke; lettuce, a chopped tomato and Ranch dressing. The chopped steak was.. eh. The mashed potatoes were the same. The gravy was a tasty white gravy, however, it tasted a little gritty as if it were powdered (which I'm sure it was.) Worst service I've had in a long time. Went in as a party of eight for breakfast; there were maybe four other groups there. From start to finish, the entire meal took about two hours. It was an hour from when we first sat down to get the first plate, then the others came out one at a time over the course of the next forty minutes. The waitress said they only have one grill in the back, which seems like a poor decision for a restaurant to make. She also seemed very overwhelmed and was very slow to get coffee and take orders.
