I drive through this little area literally every day and have never noticed a facial spot here until a friend recommended it. They're open early and close late, and even open on Sundays. My usual facial lady was booked up for the week so I decided to give this place a try. Booked their hydrating/tightening facial with May for $85. She was very thorough and even extracted the tiny bumps that have been stubbornly living on my face rent free. Extractions weren't too painful for how clean my pores looked after. The facial was very massage forward; she worked on my scalp, neck, chest, upper back, arms -- all the way down to my fingers. She has over 20 years of experience and it shows. I've been coming to this beauty salon for two years and my skin has been improved a lot ever since. I usually get my facial done with Iris and she is always nice and patient. She really took the time to massage my face, do extractions and provide any treatments that I needed depending on my skin condition. She's very knowledgeable as well. I've been coming here for about 3 years now. My skin condition has significantly improved. Yes, extraction is very painful, but I can tell you it is worth it! Iris had been doing facials on me for over 2 years until half a year ago. I switched to May due to scheduling conflict. I liked Iris, but I'm so glad I switched to May! She is very gentle and detailed. She always makes sure I'm comfortable but yet make sure I leave with a clean face. The way she does the extraction is so gentle I don't really feel the pain anymore. The absolute best place for facials in Los Angeles!!!! Basic facial ($50 for 1 or $400 for 10 plus 1 free - how do they make money?) is an hour and a half. I get the oxygen, enzyme or whitening facial for $650 for 11 - I've been going to May for so long she looks at my skin and does whatever facial I need that day. And they use really top notch products. The shop is upstairs back in a strip mall and the menu (if there is one) is not in English - don't let that deter you! Ask for basic facial and go from there. Basic facial includes: Cleansing Exfoliating 30 minute massage Extractions Eyebrow Pluck (they are good at not over plucking) Anti-Red Machine (sounds like bug zapper but doesn't hurt at all) Collagen builder - sometimes they throw this in for free Mask Hand/Arm massage Not all the rooms are completely private. Best is to take off your top and just put the straps of your bra down then put the cotton wrap over your clothes. Plan to be there for 1 1/2 hours basic facial and 2 hours oxygen or whitening facial. Its soooo relaxing! If you think $400 or $650 is a lot to shell out at once - you can also pay in installments. Totally worth it. When I'm in town I get facials every 2 weeks there. I came here two weeks ago for the first time since they were having the $35 promotion facial. I had May and she was great. She was gentle and thorough with my face. I did not feel rushed at all and spent two hours on me. I'm giving it four stars because she would not extract the two whiteheads between my eyes because the owner Connie says it will leave a scar. The two stubborn whiteheads were the reason why I went there in the first place because I could not extract them for the life of me. Other than that they are all pretty nice and the place is clean. For the person that says she doesn't think they use "good products" she doesn't know what she's talking about. They use Magnolia Orchid Skin Products and are pretty good quality. The Skin Calming Concentrate lotion alone cost $120! Also, what do you expect for $35?! Do you want them to slather caviar and gold flakes all over your mug? The place is in San Gabriel for goodness sakes! If that's the case go someplace else like Beverly Hills or Bel Air. Geez, I can't stand pretentious people like that! They think they are so elite. I was scared to get another facial after the last one left my nose purple with bruises. I had gone to another spa in Pasadena and the lady was picking the blackheads out of my nose and it hurt so badly. My friend finally convinced me to give C&L a try. I got a first time introductory rate of $35 for facial. Talk about cheap! The whole session lasted over 2 hours. They have tons of professional equipments and there were so many steps. They wash and exfoliate your face before they do a chemical peel, extract pimples and blackheads, and face mask in additional to all the massages. I first discovered this place since late 2011 because I was breaking out due to juggling 2 jobs and being a full time student. I was introduced to May as my beautician, AND hands down she is the most amazing person for extractions and facials!! I always renew my facial package (10 times for $400) because it's really worth it in the long run. You're not force to use up the sessions in any timeline, so it doesn't expire. You can even share it with a friend or family member. The price without the package is $55 per session; each sessions are about 1.5 hours. Each time I go it's kind of a different routine depending on the status of my skin. It's basically adjusted to your skin needs , so you know they are really serious about caring for your skin. The sessions also comes with neck, shoulders, arms and hands massages. Eyebrow grooming, upper lip waxing and underarm waxing are available upon requests! I always ask for May because there was a time when she was booked and I had to get my session done by someone else ... And it was not good! I don't know the other person's name, but she doesn't know English at all... Speaks mostly Chinese. May usually extracts everything for me and it never hurts; but the other lady made it very painful... I remember tearing up. May never rushes her techniques or massages , but the other lady did... Seems like she just wanted to get it over with and move on to another client. After that ONE trial with someone else, I ALWAYS ALWAYS request for May, if she's booked, then I rather wait. Trust me, it's worth the wait. From what I hear, Connie (the owner) and May are the best beautician at this place. In addition to the service , they use top of line Germany based products. I came here 5 years ago when my acne was horrid and an aunt referred me here. Connie is so amazing, the ladies took real good care of my face. Ultimately, I think it came from oversleeping/hormone build up and stress. I really enjoyed dipping my hand in the wax to soak/bathe my hand in whatever minerals infused with it because at the end of the facial, my arms were soo soft. They don't do the wax anymore since it got messy, destroyed the floor, was a pain to clean up, did not dry on other people's arms, etc. Recently I made an appointment for 2. They take their last appointment at 6:30 since their services last 1.5 hrs. First timer price is $55. I guess they raise it about $10 every year, based on what I'm reading in the reviews. Package is $400 for 10 regular facials, $480 for those with tough acne or need more attention. I tried to remember the process: CLEANSE - removing makeup and other impurities EXFOLIATE - it's a different cream with a sandy feel to scrub skin MASSAGE - spa worthy STEAM - to open up pores EXTRACTION - painful but neccessary. I've been going to Auntie Connie for over 8 years now--even before she moved to this location (been calling her this since I was so young when I first met her). She is one of the sweetest, kindest, and most hardworking people I know. I used to go to her when I had acne in high school; I was super awkward in high school--so I'm glad that at least I had rocking skin thanks to Auntie Connie. At every appointment, she evaluates your skin and determines what treatment is best for you. Sometimes she recommends me using certain products types for my skin but has never ever pushed any of her products on me; in fact, she's definitely told me to look for things online instead. (They sell some of the things they use during the appointment.) She also shapes your eyebrows and (depending if you have acne there) waxes your upper lip during your appointment. Also her facial massages are A+. Her place is so peaceful and comforting that I always end up taking a nap while the mask is on. Yes the extractions hurt super bad, and yes you can hardly breathe when she uses the steamer, but I cannot praise enough about the wonders she has done for my skin. Honestly, I think she may care about my skin more than I do myself! I've been to my share of facial spas. Really disappointed in my experience here. C and L had a promotion going on for first time customers - 1.5 hour facial for only $30 so I was excited to go try it out. The person that I had was not Connie or Grace. Although the person I had did a solid job giving me a massage the point of the appointment was the facial and not the massage. My biggest complaint was that she basically did not do any extractions, so I didn't feel that my face was being cleaned. Also when she cleaned up my eye brows she made the right side thinner and shorter than the left side. Gosh, after pimple extraction, my face look like a monster. I noticed Connie did not wear a gloves when she extracted my pimple. Her nails are long too. My skin really damaged after the facial. She told me breaking out was normal after extraction. Now new pimples keep coming from the places she extracted. Maybe because of the infection.
