The shop told me they had been cross threaded prior to them. The story continued at your shop with more damage to her car. I am an ASE, GM certified tech of 50 years or better. I along with another tech do the repairs to her car. Nine months prior to your examination myself and my brother replaced the door hinge bushings that you claimed were bad. I had 5 months ago done a tune up, the other tech, Jody just had completed the front brakes, you had to have seen the new pads and rotors. Before I go I have question, why did you and the other shop NOT bill her for any work completed including all parts and the new tires?? I'm confused! Good bye sir...

It's in an ... unusual ... strip mall with a weird assortment of businesses, including another auto place. Anyhow, just shows that you truly can't judge a book by its cover. The owner, Dee, was incredibly helpful. I wanted to get my Land Cruiser's emergency brake fixed. The dealership gave me a runaround as to why they didn't want to deal with it - said it would be too expensive, risk too many other parts, so on and so forth. Well, Dee took a look - said he might be able to fix it. A couple of days later, he called me back to tell me the car was ready. The price was right and the work was solid. I also had him quote me another job that I had gotten quoted at the dealership - he came in $500 under what the dealership wanted to charge me. I think I found a new mehanic!

I was in the process of buying a 2005 Toyota Highlander from a friend…read morethat had been sitting untouched in Chicago since late 2021 and it had considerable rust damage on the undercarriage (struts, rotors and calipers) from the snow and salt. I took the car to 3 different shops before finding Aero Automotive. The issue I had with the other "speciality" mechanics I went to is that they didn't weld and didn't want to touch the undercarriage for fear of the car falling apart and not having the welding tools to fix it. (Fairground Automotive told me to just sell it for parts). I was lucky to find Aero! Mike looked at the car and had no fear of the car having the rust damage and even told me once he was able to really look at it that no welding was needed! I was fully prepared to be out of pocket a few thousand dollars but they installed a whole new suspension and for a responsible price! It drove wonderfully afterwards, however the only issue I did have is I asked for them to do a flush and fix the brakes and Mike said I didnt need them but I definitely did and had to take it to another place. No harm no foul tho! Still a five star experience! Highly recommend Aero Automotive to anyone

Caveat emptor! What you're "quoted" at RNJ Automotive and what you are ultimately charged may be…read moretwo *very* different amounts. Never had as many problems just trying to get a reasonably accurate estimate from any auto repair shop as this one. The process with four other shops I checked out for the same repairs using same description went smoothly, so not sure why it was so difficult for RNJ. Needed a simple headlight replacement, installation of a new combo meter (circuit board that displays speedometer and odometer), and a quote for an engine swap on a Prius. The woman who provided a two hour quote for the combo meter, Nancy J., didn't know what one was - which is understandable - but apparently couldn't be bothered to look it up. On July 15 promised to get me a quote on the engine swap the next day, then almost two weeks later (July 27) said still didn't have it. Rather than being somewhat apologetic for not following up as promised, her reply was seething with sarcasm. Things rarely turn out well, in my experience, when a company is this careless and puts someone who doesn't understand the fundamentals of customer service as your first point of contact. It's not uncommon for these companies to exercise poor judgment in other aspects of the business as well. Bottom line: Service leaves much to be desired and prices not very competitive. Too many shops out there who are eager to earn your business and extremely capable to put up with this level of carelessness and sarcasm. Is this shop better than a dealership as mentioned in several of the positive reviews? Sure. But that's setting the bar really low. [Note: Nancy edited her sarcastic comments out of the allegedly entire conversation in her response. Can't help but think if they're incapable of honesty in a review, how much can you trust them with your auto repairs?]
