The weather cap on our service mast (where electricity line comes into the house) had blown off. Too tricky to get on the roof and put it back on. Plus, rainy weather was approaching and we didn't want water to come into the roof/attic through the open and exposed service mast. Finally, a nuisance job: too small to be a big paying priority for most businesses. Everyone is super busy these days. C&R fit me in in one day!!! Came out. Put it back on. Very responsive. The job was to replace a high ceiling fan. I was quoted $450 for the job. I knew the job would probably be a little higher but the electricians when they were in my home said the estimate was about right. Yet, I got a bill for $866. I was astonished. Very nice people, definitely profit focused. I had a water heater malfunction, when I tried to reset the breaker i saw sparks in the panel, so I asked C & R to check it out. I asked on the phone if there were any diagnostic fees, I was told no, just $80/30min, that should have been the first flag but I missed it given the great reviews and that I try to support small local companies. The technician came, was very nice, went "above and beyond", now I wonder if it was just to bill me extra time. Spend 2 hours disassembling and reassembling shelves and doors to "access" the inside of the panel and the water heater, even though they were accessible, but fine "if you think it's necessary" which he assured me it was. He then changed out a breaker "just in case", but happened to not have the part and had to drive back to his shop to get it (of course while billing for time). Once the breaker changed, the problem persisted, he concluded "i guess it's not the breaker, but i'll leave the new one in anyways" and of course i was billed for that. The person did not seem very knowledgeable, since it took me checking in on him after 1h, and him saying everything looks fine but when i pointed out the water heater connection is now smoking, he finally answered "oh! I guess the issue if your water heater" and proceeded to spend the rest of the time putting back the door he had taken down. $480 dollars later, including a, $85 transport fee which was never announced, a breaker fee which I did not need, damaged paint from the tech, and a concluding statement of "call a plumber". I cannot warn enough against companies charging by the hour and especially this company. It's simply too bad that one cannot rely on a small local company to provide good and honest work. Wayne and his apprentice were great! They were early and got me in before an appointment I had. They helped troubleshoot a tripped breaker and had a replacement ready and made sure everything was working well before they left. They also gave me a tutorial on how to safely DIY next time with my fuse box, dos and don'ts. He was so friendly to me and kind to my protective little dog. Todd who took my call earlier in the week was also so friendly and kind to me, taking the time to listen to my problem, helping me troubleshoot the likely issue with the breaker, and getting all the information from me to do the job quickly and well. They were also the most reasonable bid, saving me money than using Mirskey or Beacon. Save your money and hire C and R electricians. The gentleman who answered the phone at C&R quickly walked me through solving a simple problem, saving me two weeks without kitchen lights and the 250.00 diagnostic fee two other companies were going to charge for just coming out in no sooner than 10 days. Since the circuit feeds my kitchen lights, I thought I'd try calling one more company, and I'm so glad I did and that it was C&R Electric. I have yet to hear from several of the other companies, and one won't take calls or messages from new clients--you have to have access to their web page, which I do, but not everyone does. The other two companies were very nice to talk to, but I gave them the same information I gave the man at C&R, and only he was able to offer a suggestion. So, bonus customer service points for answering the phone and making a suggestion, but also for not making me feel silly for failing to think of it myself. I have worked with the guys at C&R years as a general contractor. In addition they have changed out our electrical service panel, meter base and weatherhead. All done correctly, on time and perfect workmanship. I know a little about electrical inspections, I am a home inspector and teach the inspection trade. I called them in on another electrical problem at my house. Weird one, half the bedrooms had no power, all breakers on. 10 minutes after they arrived they were done! It turns out that problem was self inflicted, I had changed out a light fixture and a wirenut was loose, and thus I killed the power to the back of the home. Absolutely the best! We used them to re-wire a 1950s house that was all knob and tube. We bid the job with multiple contractors and C&R was the best for the job on paper, and definitely showed why they were the best when finished. Todd in the office and Wayne on the job site really went above and beyond to make sure every detail was addressed. With sections of wall and ceiling requiring removal to get the rewire done, they really finished the job with surgical precision and very little wall/ceiling removal. Called C&R on the recommendation of my realtor after buying a house which needed some serious electrical work. They came out and took a look at the scope of the project. Receptors were ungrounded, polarity was reversed, and there was some sketchy wiring throughout. The also needed to rig a 220 line for a clothes dryer. After scheduling service, they came out and worked on the place for about 4 days. The electricians were great guys who were always prompt and did a great job. I also had them add a few outlets to both the interior and exterior, as well as add a security light outside. I have some more work to be done in the kitchen and bath and will have them do the work as well. Highly recommended. read more

Five stars to C & R for helping me with my problem right over the phone. My outlet in the master bath went out suddenly. There are no reset outlets in the master bath or in the master bedroom and I already tried resetting the circuit breakers from the breaker box. I told Todd from C & R the situation and he asked if there was another reset outlet in another bathroom, and yes there was in the guest bathroom. He told me to press the reset button there and ta-dah it worked to reset my master bath outlets! I knew to look for a reset outlet but thought it had to be in the same room - didn't know who would be an outlet down the hall! Thanks Todd for saving me time and money with his help on the phone. We had a very good experience with C&R Electric. They did a knob and tube rewire of our 1940 house. They were courteous and efficient, showed up on time and had great communication throughout the process. We had a couple of minor problems (we both forgot the doorbell, and one faulty breaker) and they came out and fixed it right away, after the project was finished. The final cost was actually a little less than our estimate. I didn't feel that they were trying to sell us extra stuff, and their bid was very fair. C&R is fantastic! We were putting in a new cooktop and vent and needed an outlet wired for the vent. There was no easy way to get it wired, but Ron figured out a way. Then the appliance dealer came, took out the old cooktop, and then told us our power supply wasn't adequate, we needed to wire in a higher-amp breaker. No. Four different quotes, 8 different visits, weeks of wrangling over what we were charged for and what work was not done at all. I feel still that we are being overcharged by at least $5000.00, but they are so difficult and ridiculous to deal with I just want to wash my hands of them. This company was very responsive by phone to try to get someone over here. We went with someone else who was closer, but it should be noted that this company was very professional, helpful and cared about our situation. It should also be noted that they are a family owned business that has been in around for many years. We just moved into a new house in SeaTac and we had a few electricians come out and give us bids on a bunch of work we needed done. Brad came out and did our bid and he was very thorough and explained everything we wanted and what we needed. For me I believe in the motto you get what you pay for. I don't remember if there bid was the cheapest but he was by far the best we met with. Tyler and Jarred came out to do our work. They were outstanding. This was a two day job with lots of little projects and things that came up while they were here that we decided to have them do also. We have done remodeling in our basement last fall and upstairs this spring in our house that was built in 1960. C&R Electric checked all outlets and upgraded to 3-prong and GFI where needed. They also wired in additional outlets in the basement and a new outlet in the kitchen for a microwave above the oven. They also fixed a couple of outlets that were damaged or installed incorrectly. They also installed a junction box for the new cooktop. They were always on time, very professional, worked efficiently, and cleaned up after themselves. I am a first time homeowner and decided to get some work done with C&R because it came well rated and came recommended. They were friendly and fairly responsive. They installed a ceiling fan, can lights and an outlet over my fire place. The ceiling fan and can lights look good. The issue is the rest of the work was not done well - one of the electricians put a hole in the wall above my fireplace. When I asked to have it repaired they said that they would need to charge me extra because their estimate didn't cover necessary patch work, even though it wasn't a necessary hole - just a mistake on their part. Unfortunately it wasn't a positive experience and I feel taken advantaged of, which might just be the case when dealing with electricians (I'm not sure but I won't be coming back to C&R). The junction box with the ceiling fan switch has too many wires to effectively put in a dimmer switch, even though they knew I wanted to put in a dimmer switch, so it takes extra time to trim the wires and figure out a solution on my part. He didn't install a dimmer in that day because he didn't have any in his truck. The issue I have is that I'm paying such high costs for a service and the service wasn't done well the first time, so then I need to spend time and additional money to repair it myself which makes me feel frustrated with the entire experience. read more

We had just moved into our new house - along with a lot of dirty laundry - when we discovered that our 3-prong drier cord wasn't going to plug into the 4-prong wall outlet. With Christmas coming up and guests in the house, this was NOT a Good Thing. I called C&R, and they were able to get someone out on Christmas Eve. The electrician showed up on time, completed the work adequately, and cleaned up everything. Later that day one outlet was not working. The electrician came back and discovered another old outlet was faulty in the circuit. This old outlet was replaced and the new was back on line. Billing method was great by invoice. I chose this company on the recommendation of my realtor and I'm so glad I did! We had a pretty big list--upgrading the service panel, wiring the whole house with data jacks, installing a few outlets both inside and outside the house, running new circuits for future use, adding 3-way switches in a couple rooms, basically everything we didn't like about the house we'd just purchased. They got it all done faster than expected and were great about communicating when we were going to be totally without power so that we could make alternate plans for that time. They also stopped and asked when they didn't think one of the projects was going to look exactly how I expected and were very flexible when I made changes on the fly. And they billed exactly what was quoted as soon as the work was completed. Most importantly, they did an AMAZING job cleaning up after themselves. We hired several contractors for various projects this past year and I really got a great appreciation for the lengths they went to to vacuum up after themselves and leave our home clean. I would definitely hire them again if I needed anything else done (although I think they all but re-wired a couple rooms in the house at this point). read more
