This is my favorite local buffet. You get a combination of Asian / American food plus a salad bar. There are also fruits and an ice cream machine. The ladies here are the best. The food here in my opinion is better than the larger buffets because everything at the larger buffets all taste exactly the same to me, but not here. The employees here are very friendly always asking me how I have been since the last time I came in. I highly recommend this place it does a very good business at lunch and dinner. Heard about this place and wanted to stop by and check it out. The offerings were few and not all appetizing. The Mac and cheese was runny banana pudding looked like pudding was a few wafers on top. The greens were swimming in water and so were the string beans . To their credit the food was kept warm and was replaced quickly. There were plenty of folks in the place piling their plates. Personally, I've always love the place as they offer "safe" sushi as well as great fried and baked chicken and the Chinese dishes are wonderful as well. I love to visit The C&W Buffet You are greeted at the door, and seated promptly. Waitress takes your drink order, then sends you to the food. This is the best Chinese cooking in Charleston. Pretty typical Chinese buffet. I like to use these for recovery the night after some hard partying, and since the KFC buffet was closed I hit up C & W to soak up my hangover. I was immediately greeted (I think) with a grunt by an Asian lady who was somewhere between age 12 and 65. When I returned her grunt with a blank stare, she angrily pointed me off toward a dark corner where a waitress would indicate where I would sit. The place isn't well lit and I felt like a was in a haunted house finding my seat. On the other hand, the near complete darkness aided the hangover recovery, which was the whole point anyways. The waitress spoke one English word to me the entire time, which was "drink?". Again, I don't go to buffets to converse nor do I want to be seen there so the setting actually worked out. The name is a bit misleading, because it isn't "super" in size or quality. I guess it is super in 4'8" Asian staffers (seemed like 50 of them). I'll hand out some credit where it's due with the salad bar, which was excellent. Disclaimer: I rate salad bars solely off of the taste of their thousand island dressing, so I'm probably not much help here. The rest of the bar excluding the dessert bar was missing one important attribute: labels. Now I'm not accusing the place of having meats from shady sources, but there were numerous meats that I couldn't immediately identify, which is probably another issue itself. I did see some ham that looked like it had chicken pox. There was an entire bar that I avoided because I had no idea what anything was. Minus 1 star. They completely butchered the American food on the buffet. The fries were soggy and the pizza was obviously made for dwarfs. I could have eaten the entire pizza like a cookie, but I would have probably broken a tooth. Minus 1 star. My last complaint is about a cardinal buffet sin: not enough nilla wafers in the banana pudding. There were probably 4 wafers per square foot of pudding surface and this is about 10 times less than it should be. On top of that, previous customers had poached the wafers from all over. There isn't a lot of variety on the buffet, but about 75% of what I tried was actually good -- not crave-quality, but good. The meats used in the dishes were decent cuts. Virtually no vegetables, save for the broccoli and sparse carrots in one dish, and onions here and there. (I guess there was a salad area, but I wasn't there for salad.) I did like the boiled mushrooms a great deal. The fried rice and pancit noodles didn't really have any flavor, but a mild dish to alternate with the other dishes bursting with flavor. Can't beat the $8/adult price, and only $2.50 for kids. Our wait staff was very friendly and prompt at removing old plates. Went on a Saturday night around 8 and there was a constant refreshing of the dishes for hot selections.
