This time around we had the She-Crab Soup, Local Coconut Shrimp, and the Shrimp Salad and Soup Combo. The She-Crab Soup hit the spot. It was thick, creamy and full of crab meat. The Shrimp Salad was absolutely delicious. It was chock full of shrimp pieces. The port vinagrette was outstanding. I had a Rum Runner which I enjoyed. Our server Hailey was extremely friendly. She worked hard to make sure that we enjoyed our meals and had a good time.

I just like to be…read moreupfront about this because I know each part of this great country we live in has a different interpretation of what we call spicy food or flavored or seasoned food. But being from New Orleans, I also know a lot about restaurants and flash fryers used in kitchens, to quickly prepare fried seafood dishes to chicken , throughout the country. So let me begin my review of Hudson seafood house on the dock. My first impression is that this is a local place that has been around a long time and you can actually see and somewhat feel the age of this establishment. It is very popular and Hilton head a great deal of tourist come through their golfers, etc.. The staff is very young teenagers working a summer job who hasn't done that to their 20s and 30s. Shout out to the bartender and to the blind headed waitress who recommended my drink and food choices. You guys are Primo in my book. If you're planning on eating there outside is gorgeous view of the water but it's also very crowded around certain times. Call ahead to reserve tables, especially if you're coming with a large group. This place is great for kids, young kids and adults and if you're an old head like myself, the bar is a place to be. Enjoy a good draft or something on tap.

OMG the food! Elsewhere, they're usually sadness food), fries were fresh ant hot, salad was super fresh. DH's Cobb salad was excellent as well - he specifically said that the shrimp was perfect (again, shrimp are easy to overcook) and the chicken (white meat) was tender and juicy. The atmosphere is brightly lit, with lots of fun funky signs. You order at the counter and they'll bring it to your table if you dine in. Soda, a few beer and wine choices (although they only had 1 wine available). Super lovely, friendly staff too. They were gracious when I asked for extra takeout boxes and didn't even charge me. Wheelchair accessible (I use a chair) but be aware that the bathroom is tight- doable, but on the smaller side. Due to the age of the building, it's a retrofit that did the best it could. I've been in much worse, in newer buildings. Prices were amazingly reasonable. 10/10 recommend, and if we're ever in that area again, we'll seek it out.

Traveling through and needed a bit to eat. Few places in the area and being Sunday, most are closed…read moreor close early. This is a very unassuming place. Simple seating areas. 4 stars. Next, the staff. They were exceptionally nice. Friendly, polite, courteous and helpful. Absolutely 5 stars. The food. We ordered the fried pickle appetizer, a shrimp dinner and the special, a 5oz fried grouper sandwich. The pickles came out fresh, hot, nicely cooked in a perfect coating. Came with ranch dressing. Would totally order them again. 5 stars as they were perfect. The shrimp dinner was also very good. Nice portion of again... perfectly coated, perfectly seasoned and perfectly cooked. The side of coleslaw was fine. No rating as it was neutral. The fries, the side we chose, were ok. The usual frozen crinkle cut fries. They were hot and cooked well. But frozen makes them a 3 star. I personally was not a fan of the hush puppies as I'm typically not anyway. My partner said they were delicious. Going by her enjoyment, 3.5 stars. The grouper sandwich special. Presentation was good. Good bun, fresh leaf lettuce and fresh cut tomato. The fish was again, nicely coated. Unfortunately, it came out dry. A little tough to chew. My partner tried it and said the same thing. Fortunately, the great server offered to have a new one made for me. I really didn't want it so she replaced it with their fried shrimp! No headache. No nasty looks or comments. Just a server that wanted to make sure we had a good dining experience. She did. The bill arrived and the food prices were good. Taxes are a bit high but no fault of the place. We were disappointed to see a service charge of 3% for CC fee. Typical nowadays but still never happy to see it. Overall this is a place that I would absolutely recommend and if ever passing through here again, we will stop and eat here. 4.75 stars.
