We give this restaurant 3.5 stars. I had the steak wedge salad which was good. Steak cooked to my liking. My partner had the fish tacos which he didn't love. Too much sauce on them for his taste but he said the fish itself was fresh and good. The servers were friendly but it took a long time for our meals to come out - which could be related to a staffing issue? So while this wasn't great - we enjoyed our lunch. read more

My partner and I have been so excited for this place to open! We live within sight of the bar, and had been anxiously watching the progress of remodeling. The Canton area was in sore need of a great place to get craft beer and interesting food, and CF McCarthy's did not disappoint in the slightest. AMAZING beer selection on tap. Ordered to go on Friday night. The only reason they are getting one star is for the staff. Super friendly. The food was horrible. Steak tips tough and chewy, scallops cooked to death tough and tasted old. The risotto was over cooked and like paste. I threw both right in the trash I would have been embarrassed to serve that to a customer The only saving grace in the 80 plus dollars spent was the fish and chips it was ok. Disappointed. First, it's not really an Irish pub. As another reviewer said, there's nothing with corned beef on the menu or shepherds pie or any other traditional Irish pub fair except fish and chips. That's forgivable though if the beer is cold and the food is good. The beer was cold-ish but not cold. The food was close to good but just missed the mark. We had the fish and chips, the nachos, and the wings. The fish and chicken s was fine but nothing special. The wings had great flavor but were not even close to crispy. Went here with friends on Friday night. Received a cool reception from the hostess who ended up being server as well. Tight seating, but that's ok. Friends ordered the burgers, which they liked. 1 ordered Philly steak app - and liked it. I'm vegan and had 1 choice - sauteed veggies with noodles. Small serving, didn't look appetizing but tasted ok. As a vegan I don't expect a lot of choices, but who doesn't' have a veggie burger on their menu these days? Even Burger King has one! Found this place through Yelp while looking for somewhere new to try and it didn't disappoint! The CF Mac Pizza was heavenly. Crispy doughy crust and the best short ribs and caramelized onions were to die for. The steak tips were tender and marinated perfectly. Dessert we had tres leches and the red velvet cake. Absolutely delightful! Nice and fresh and with a hearty serving! The atmosphere was cool with outdoor seating added due to COVID. Will definitely be frequenting this place! read more

Recently moved back to the area and was looking for a good Irish pub to take my West Coast boyfriend to. Let's just say it was exactly what we were looking for. We had delicious local beers, lamb shepherd's pie, and buffalo wings (not Irish but still great). We even ended up inviting friends out to join us it was so good. Also, easy to find parking. All of the staff was extremely rude. Social distancing was non existent, there was a party sitting directly behind us no where near 6 feet apart all though there were numerous empty tables that would have allowed for sufficient social distancing. Apparently even if tables are on top of each other, if we open all the windows we're still within guidelines. read more

While hungry and driving through Canton center my husband and I decided to finally try C.F. McCarthy's and are glad we did! The food was great (brussel sprouts - yum) and the beer selection (Sip of Sunshine!) is awesome. Our bartenders were very nice and even remembered us on our second visit. My boyfriend and I recently went in for lunch at C.F. McCarthy's on a Saturday. They only serve brunch during the time we were there which we were unaware of, but the cook kindly said he would allow us to order off the regular menu. The bartender was very nice and there were no issues with the hospitality. My boyfriend ordered a burger cooked medium and I ordered the blue cheese brussel sprouts appetizer. The burger came out completely raw to the point that the meat was still squishy and almost bleeding. He does not mind a medium rare burger but this was totally raw. The "oven roasted brussel sprouts topped with crispy bacon and blue cheese" were DROWNING in a pool of butter and the only blue cheese was some that was mixed in with all the butter. These were clearly sautéed in a pan with tons of butter after being roasted which is not what the description stated and in turn was not what I was expecting. I am giving 2 stars for the bartender and the cook at least being nice even though he clearly cannot cook. read more

The bartender was amazing, was very helpful with my dietary restrictions (with the support of the kitchen). Some of the best upscale bar food. Our bartender/waitress Jeanie was outstanding. She was personable and attentive. We learned from her that the food was all scratch made and farm to table. Ate there for the first time last night. Found it to be a great new find. The open windows and the set up out front under the tents will mean that we will be able to eat there well into the fall. Service was excellent. Food was excellent. Presentation of the oversized burger and chicken sandwich was outstanding too-though a larger plate was eventually needed. My son-in-law, granddaughter and I stopped in for an early dinner and was pleasantly surprised by the menu. It is a small establishment, but really quaint. We all got something different so we could share. Their shoestring onion rings are the best. I had a caprese grilled as a panini. Clam chowder, excellent, loaded with clams. Another panini sandwich of chicken. The staff and our waitress was very accommodating. The manager came over to us checking on how we liked the food . We told him that it was a 5 star rating. He also informed us that they would be serving bar pizzas shortly. We would definitely make another trip to Canton for round two at C F McCarthy's. read more

There were seven in our group last night @ McCarthy's Pub in Canton. I read several of the prior reviews and there were about eight positives for every negative so I was looking forward to really good pub food. Sorry, the food was "resistible". I ordered the tuna poke bowl, which was actually pretty good, but, the "crispy" wantons were soft. The version I recently had at the Yard House was far better. My wife ordered the chicken dish which came with mashed potatoes and Brussel sprouts. The mashed potatoes were lukewarm and everything else was bland. The au jus sauce for the chicken was tasteless. The same dish she had a few nights ago at The Haven in Jamaica Plain was a thousand times better. Hope the McCarthy chef will go to The Haven to compare their chicken dish with the one he serves. My daughter ordered the shepherd's pie and her response was, "I'll never order that again." My son's fiancé ordered the calamari and she said it was overcooked. My son ordered the buffalo pizza which was also bland. My brother-in-law ordered the fish and chips which he thought were great although his fries were also lukewarm. I would recommend that the owner and chef order meals that are similar to theirs at The Yard House, The Haven, Napper Tandy's and Café Bella's to experience how much better food can be. The waitress and drinks were very good. Hope they improve. We love eating the excellent ethnic food in Canton @ Takara's, Pho 29 and Nisa's. Hope McCarthy's puts the effort into exploring how much better their food can be and learn how to serve their dishes hot even if they don't all come out at the same time. read more

Female bartender was good and had a Handel on things. Food. Well nothing to write home about. It was just adequate. We live in the area. We had been waiting for this place to open. And boy it did not disappoint. Great craft beer and wine selection (which my wife loves). The menu is not big but definitely has something for everyone. We have been in on 2 different Saturday afternoons (seated at the bar) and have tried different dishes each time. Poutine, Lento Bowls, Wings, Steak Tips etc. All of it delicious! Not to mention the great service! Megan & Jeannie are super attentive and friendly. My husband and I tried out this place recently, on a Sunday night. I wrote a review on FB but never heard back so I thought I would do one here also. We left a 20 percent tip and they actually added on to it. It was only a small amount of money but whats important here...........is that it is never acceptable to do that. We obviously won't be returning and I would caution patrons there to check their receipts. Tried their brunch for the first time. Some unusual items, not the common omelette, pancake type menu, which is good. Seemed a bit pricey, but gave it a shot. Very disappointing.
