We sat at the bar, we easily got a seat, but I have a feeling that's not always the case! I enjoy cocktails so I tried the Burbon smash, different and tasty! We ordered the mezza plate, out of the three dips, I really liked whipped feta, my husband enjoyed the eggplant, ( I'm not a fan of eggplant) glad we didn't order just the Avacado hummus, really lacked flavor. We got some crushed red pepper to add to it for a little zip. I had to tell our bartender that I thought the mini naan's were stale, but he explained the kitchen decided to heat them- which made them harder to chew. ( we have had them before and totally enjoyed the soft texture) I'm hoping he will give the kitchen the feedback! My husband and I both ordered the pork sandwich, he had as it was on the menu- I almost never do I had it without cheese and broccoli rabe- after we got our sandwiches the bartender had asked the kitchen to give me some au jus( I didn't ask)- it wasn't dry but it really made it delightful. How thoughtful of him! They have an upstairs, that was having a private event, downstairs was very nice with a long center hightop, looks fun for friends to gather! We had such a great experience at Gemma Kitchen & Bar! The staff was so friendly, and our waiter was very knowledgeable about the menu and had great recommendations. My kids got the meatball pizza and both said it was the best pizza they've ever had! My husband ordered the steak frites, and it was cooked perfectly. I had the chicken Francese, and it was absolutely delicious. The house-made pickles were such a pleasant surprise--light, fresh, and so flavorful. We also ordered the cheeseburger egg rolls, and they were one of my favorite things we tried. The dipping sauce was amazing! You can really taste the quality and freshness of the food, and the menu has such a fun variety of options. Everything we ordered was excellent. We had a wonderful meal and will definitely be back. Service was a bit slow but I feel like how busy they were kinda justified it. I got two starters. The fried olives for I believe $14 and the Casio e peppe bread for like $12. The olives were good but we only got 5 in the glass making them nearly $3 per olive. The bread you get three small pieces making each piece $4 and they were soft but didn't taste like cacio e Pepe. Dinner I got chicken parm. Sauce was good. Boxed pasta was undercooked like 1 minute before al dente. Chicken was terrible. So thin that when it was cooked it was hard like jerky. And there's something sweet in the breading that was also unpleasant. Not sure if the type of breadcrumbs they used but it shouldn't have sweet notes to it. 3 1/2 stars. I placed a to-go order and it was there when I got it, hot and the experience was pleasant. Got spaghetti carbonara and it was basically Alfredo, very bland and just blah. If I was blindfolded and did taste test I would have called Alfredo. So disappointing. Sorry. read more

Every thing was great! Started with a pickle Martini, and a mezzi platter, paired perfectly in my opinion. I also tried a really tasty watermelon cocktail, I don't recall the name though unfortunately. I had the clams and spaghetti, really nice sauce and they were not stingy with the clams. My wife had the steak tips, I tried 1, perfectly med rare and very tender. My daughter had the salmon bowl and that was excellent as well. For dessert I had the smoke show cocktail, really nice drink I highly recommend it. read more

Awesome new spot in Norwood with a great vibe, beautiful decor, lovely staff and phenomenal food and drinks. Though this restaurant is technically "new" the owners have many years of experience and have done an incredible job building a beautiful restaurant. Food is average. Service was fair. I called early in the week to let them know we had a couple of big, heavy guys who had access issues. The result was five sitting at a four person table. Asked to move and we were squeezed in the corner where we were bumping chairs, luckily, with an accommodating, friendly couple. I know it's new so I will go again and update this review. read more

I've been wanting to try this since it opened on May 1st. One of the people involved is Paul Ferrante, the owner of Abbondanza's that was in Norwood center years ago. I was seated at a table without a problem. My waitress was Kayla and she was very nice, professional and helpful. Paul did come out to say hi. I started with the onion soup, it was very good. For my entree I had the bolognese. The pasta was perfectly Al dente and the bolognese itself was tasty and rich. Others might think the food is a bit bland, but I hate salt, so it was to my liking, you can add your own salt! Definitely worth trying. read more

Gemma is new and I want everyone to keep that in mind! They have a great potential and I will definitely come back in a few months once they iron their kinks out. The pizza was really tasty (fluffy crust, sauce not too sweet, quality cheese), which is definitely hard to find in this area! Menu had something for everyone overall. Service was just OK, they seem to be well staffed but not utilized to their full capacity (waiting for dishes to be cleared, water to be filled, etc.) which is normal with new spots. Food was pretty good, there was one issue with my entrée (wrong item brought out) which they quickly resolved. Their bar was hopping and there seemed to be a decent after work rush. I would consider this for a casual local dining option again. read more

The food was better than I expected. I think the standouts in our meal were the cheeseburger egg rolls and the pizza. The pizza was the best I've had in the area for a Neapolitan style. The crust was delicious. Norwood needed a place like this with a modern feel and good food. Will definitely be back. Owners did a great job updating this venue. Gorgeous lighting, bar, etc. The menu is outstanding with options for everyone. Highly recommend the mezza plate (whipped feta is delicious!), pizza, spicy pasta and the skillet dessert. Service was top notch at the bar (Scotty!) and the table (Kayla!). made reservations for 7 people @ 630 for a table arrived at the restaurant 6:15. Went to the hostess and told her that we were here and I had made reservations for 630. We waited for a half hour and I asked the hostes if our table will soon be ready. The hostess informed me that it should be ready in a few minutes as we waited and waited. I went up to the hostess again and asked her is our table ready at this point it was 8:00 she stated that the aisle at the bar was our table at this time been waiting an hour and a half. I told her I didn't ask for an aisle. I asked for a table she said that the computer put us at the aisle. I do believe our table was given away to someone else, and if she had only admitted that it would've been fine long story short we got a table at 8:45 for 630 reservation and because of our long wait for the table the manager gave my son a piece of cake on the house because of our long wait. what a disappointment when celebrating your son's birthday. The manager was more concerned about talking to her regulars or people that she knew than finding us the table. A disappointing experience. read more

Went there with my husband. We were two of a total of six people sitting at the bar, so not full. Three bartenders and we were not greeted and had to wait several minutes to be waited on while two of the bartenders chatted at the end of the bar, and we were not given a menu either. Finally drink order and a menu. Again could not be bothered coming back to us to ask if we would like to place an order it wasn't until I pushed the menu towards the end of the bar that one of the bartenders noticed that it was there and said oh can I take your order Service is so slow and it's there's no need for this three bartenders at the bar. My husband ordered a beer wasn't even offered a glass. They couldn't have cared less. It was more important for them to have conversations with each other, then wait on the customers. I know they had recently opened, but come on. Attitude is everything towards a customer, especially when you're just opening. Food was pricey and just ok. read more
