We had a really cute date night in the beautiful weather here over the weekend. The patio seating is really pretty nice for being next to the highway. I loved the flowers. Super cute. My husband loved the chicken risotto. I got a raspberry sangria which was fantastic. I was not at all into the zucchini burger. It was weird. And though I like Gouda, in this context it was kind of overbearing and didn't go with the bread. It was also unweildy and a hand held as there were two distinct fritters. The restaurant is on the pricey side. As soon as the waitress realized I didn't like my food she started on on asking me if I wanted something else... Which, no. I was not going to pay another $20+ dollars to get something else I might not like. Just let me cut my losses. Asking me a second time if they could get me something else was absolutely not appreciated. Anyway, its a nice restaurant if you have money to drop. Maybe not in the zucchini burger, but I am sure someone else out there likes it. read more

Went on a Friday evening and it was really great, wish I tried it before now! We were seated outside right away. The patio overlooks Route 1.. but if the weather is nice, it is still nice to atleast be outside. Our server was really sweet and attentive, but not overly "hovering" if that makes sense. We split the "Black and Blue" Pizza along with an order of the crispy shrimp. Both items were great, pizza was more than enough for the two of us, as we ended bringing a few slices home. This restaurant has a huge bar and friendly bartender. Drinks are good and the food is delicious The Mediterranean board is so good . I love the fried pita bread that comes with it . Phenomenal food with excellent service! The interior has a warm feeling with ample space for both dining and event planning. You will never feel cramped in this spacious location and if you need to wait for food, bar service is quick and generous with the poor. The Hong Kong noodles had a pleasant sweet combination with peanuts and chicken. While the pear salad was both light and sweet with a good combination of dressing and fragrance. I rarely give bad reviews but... I don't know if I hit an off-night (considering the other reviews I've read) but I had a terrible experience eating here tonight. I ordered a ribeye steak with spinach and mashed potatoes. To me this looked like the kind of place (pub style food) that would really do beef well. For $48 I got a tough and flavorless steak covered in what seemed to be canned beef gravy. It was served with room temp mashed potatoes (yuck) and no steak knife to saw through this thing--just a table knife. It was too tough and flavorless to be a real ribeye (what I ordered)--I don't know what it was. To boot, the server acted like he was bored with his job and never commented on the fact that I had only eaten a quarter of the steak. And no, I didn't stiff him the tip at the end even though it would have been deserved. I hate sending back food, but given the apathy of the server, I didn't even want to try. Also, an undercooked or overcooked steak can be fixed but a piece of meat that wouldn't even meet the standards for select, let alone choice beef, meant that nothing could remedy the situation. Tip: covering a tough piece of meat in gravy can't hide it's flaws. On a positive note, the bartender was great: thank you! My way of handling an experience like this: just never return. read more

Had my holiday party here last weekend in their function space on the second fooor. It was nice and open and had plenty of room for us. We had grilled chicken, roasted veggies, mashed potatoes, pasta, and salad. The food was decent, nothing to write home about, but it was good quality. We thought it was odd that there was no bread. There were butter packets on the table, but no bread. At the end, there was a lot of food left over. At any other restaurant we've been to, we've been given boxes to take home the leftover food, but we were told they don't do that, something about liability. I don't know, every single restaurant gives to-go boxes and I have never heard about any liability concerns. It just seemed like such a waste of food. Hopefully they weren't planning on reusing it! All in all, the waitstaff was friendly. The open bar was a nice plus, though that is more props to the organizer of our party, but it was nice that we had that option. This is one of those places where you go for the vibes. Our experience was that the apps were better than the entrees. For the apps, we had the Buffalo cauliflower and the mushroom bread, which were both delicious. For the entrees we had the Hong Kong Noodles, which was super sweet and the Grilled Salmon. The salmon was ok, but we were not fans of the bean salad. The staff was kind enough to switch out the sides for us, which we were thankful for. All in all, a nice neighborhood place, especially if you want to catch the game. read more

Beacons looks fancier than it is, but that's not a bad thing in my book. When I first walked in and looked around I got nervous that my outfit wasn't nice enough but then eyeing other patrons - especially those at the bar where I was going to sit - it's more of a good looking sports bar. It was LOUD in there. I loved the energy but can see why some may not. While it took some time to get attention from the bartenders, they were knowledgeable, helpful, and kind. The bar was full and there were only 2 bartenders when it really looked like they could use 3. We ordered an espresso martini to share and it was made very well! The hard seltzer and beer options were plentiful but draught beer having only cardboard hanging placards for identification was tough for my partner when the bartenders were too busy to go through all the options. I had the Poached Pear Salad with Grilled Chicken and my partner had the Cajun Shrimp and Tortellini Pasta. My salad was wonderful! The flavors were very nice and the dressing was light and refreshing. The grilled chicken left some to be desired as it had hardly any seasoning and was a bit dry. Overall I'd definitely order the salad again, just with perhaps a different protein. The Cajun Shrimp Tortellini Pasta had just the right amount of kick for spice. It wasn't overpowering enough to toast your tastebuds but it definitely let you know it was there. I will say, though, the sauce itself didn't have much flavor aside from the kick; it was pretty bland. Very good meal and will be back! I can't wait to try the soba noodles! read more

But, what I don't remember ever was it being so loud on the inside that you could not even have a conversation plus, I ordered the pork chop and it was not very good. Beacon's has a great atmosphere and the service is fantastic. We have been coming here for over 2 years and the food is always amazing. From the staff to the bartenders to the ownership, everyone treats you like family. I highly recommend the jalapeño bacon bar pizza. Beacons is ok as an average restaurant, but certainly doesn't live up to its pretensions as a fine New American restaurant. "New American" is about simple food crafted with passion from fresh local food, and this ain't that. It's more Jake & Joe's than Barrel & Boards or Union Straw - and lots of people like that! (And it has a nice big bar, and polite staff who get food out quickly.) I just really love New American and was willing to drive further to get it, and was disappointed. They have several boards that sound interesting, but turn out to be disappointing. A charcuterie board was deeply meh - two thick slices of flavorless cheese (one was dry at the edges), though the meats and pickles were good. A pork belly board that sounded quite exciting, but also fell flat in execution - with the same exact extras as the charcuterie board. It just feels rote and uninspired, as compared to a restaurant where the chefs clearly are passionate about trying new things every time because they love food. (Again - that may not be what others are looking for; but then just say you're American, not New American.) I often get a pear and goat cheese salad from restaurants, and I would have said it's hard to mess up. But Beacon's was deeply meh. The best part was the quality of the lettuce - that was nice. But the vinaigrette and topping flavors didn't work together, and it was just disappointing. I'm pretty sure the pear was canned, too. read more

Had a great dining experience here tonight. The patio is huge and they have live music. Inside you'll find numerous tables as well as a big bar with plenty of stools. Everything is very spaced out which is great. The food itself was good. Our buffalo cauliflower appetizer ($14) was one of the best iterations of the dish I've ever had and it was a generous portion. The spinach dip ($12) was also pretty good. The Beacons burger ($14) was cooked nicely and upgrading the fries from regular to garlic truffle is definitely something you'll want to do. There's a tiny upcharge but they're divine. Service was friendly and attentive. They also have a dedicated gluten-free menu which is neat. Will definitely be back! read more

This place is great! We found it online and could not believe our luck that this place was not busy on Sunday night. The gentleman who served us was kind, friendly, and attentive. The spinach and artichoke dip was delicious!!! For my main I had a veggie burger and a side salad with house dressing. I'm not sure what kind of dressing it was- but it was light and tasty. My future mother in law loved her fish and chips and my fiancé had the rigatoni with bolognese - I had a taste and the sauce was delicious. Rancid steaks tips!!! Need I say more? That's not a joke, and it's not hyperbole. My son and I both got rancid steak tips. Best part was the manager did not seem either surprised or to care. Worst part was that no one else's meal was all that great and neither were the "crab cakes" I got instead. Who deep fries crab cakes? Sad really. Great space. Great outdoor area. Loved the old-world understated, elegant dining room. Our party was seated solo in a backroom with an 'unlit' fireplace (we arrived about a half hour B4 the dinner menu came out.) We shared the chicken wing appetizer to start and were given 3 dipping sauces. DO try the Sraccha (sp) dipping sauce. Spicy and tangy, but not too spicy. Ranch and Buffalo were also good. I had the shrimp crostini as my main dish, and like another Yelper stated, I wanted to lick all the sauce off the plate. Great combo of jalapenos and cherry tomatoes (and thank goodness for the crusty bread slices to soak all the sauce out of the bowl and keep you from crying from the jalapenos. Companions had the salmon with shrimp and duck sandwich (both tasty). Finished with creme brulee (couldn't pass it up lol). Would return to try other apps and drinks. read more

This place is nearby where we live, so we decided to go in for a quick drink. For 5 drinks total, 2 beers and 3 glasses of wine, our bill was $72 before tip!! I know there is inflation but for five drinks that is completely outrageous. My advice would be to lower your drink prices bc I won't be going back for that cost. Went there to celebrate my wife's birthday. Interior is nicely done. Our waiter was very attentive. We had the chicken wings, a chicken caesar salad, the pork chop and the crab cake sandwich. Discovered Beacons a few months ago and what a pleasant surprise it has been! This place is excellent. The food is awesome, I would recommend the Honey BBQ wings, the Hong Kong noodles, short rib gnocchi and the chocolate cake. The cocktails are fantastic, I love the strawberry Capiroska and the pear-suit of happiness (with CBD infused simple). The owners are absolutely lovely and always make a point to come stop by the table to check on us. Service is always consistent and the staff is exceptionally efficient and friendly. The outdoor area is stunning and the outdoor bar makes it just that much better. This is my new favorite spot! read more

Nice outdoor patio blocking most of Route 1. Food was just okay. Crab cakes were decent - not too fishy with a yummy sauce and slaw. I had the Soba Noodle Salad with steak tips. The salad was all noodles (was envisioning noodles in lettuce) and cold. And I only got 3 steak tips. It was tasty but nothing out of this world. My husband had the duck salad sandwich. He liked it but was definitely still hungry after. The fries were delicious, though! Our waitress did not take the mask-wearing seriously - either just covering her mouth or not on at all. Outside patio was very nice, great atmosphere. The drinks were refreshing, and made well. The honey sriracha wings were really tasty. The downfall for us was our entrees. The steak tips were suggested, and they were terrible. They were ordered medium rare, and came out almost medium well. Not quite sure what the flavor was that we were tasting, but it wasn't good. I ordered the caprese chicken entree. When the server placed it down, she said staer chicken, I said No- I ordered caldera. The bartender def who took my order told me it was caprese chicken. I wasn't sure if it their own spin on it so I don't say anything. That wish was okay, the chicken didn't have much flavor. When the check came it said statler chicken. We should have said something about both dishes but opted not to sue to the full bar. We did not want to bring attention to yourselves. My fiancé had 3 out for the 5 tips left that he opted not to take home. I was surprised they did not ask if everything was okay at that point. Overall, we would go back for drinks and apps but probably not for an entree. The staff was extremely nice as well! read more

Does anyone remember this place? Back in either 2002 or 2003, the ORIGINAL Beacons, in this very location, closed for unknown reasons. The space became British Beer Company in 2005 for 13 years and is now back to Beacons. THIS Beacons is different than the original. While less cozy and comfortable, it appeals to the more modern, 21st century crowd. Interior is updated with a large bar, high-top booths, and a small sectioned off dining room. The owners were all coming around and greeting all of their guests upon their grand opening on October 13 2019. I am super happy that this location is not vacant and a new restaurant has opened. The Route 1 stretch of Norwood and Walpole has lost several restaurants with the closure of British Beer Company, TGI Fridays, Outback Steakhouse, etc, etc. We needed a new place like this for this stretch of road! Menu could be more extensive. In the current state, it's a bit limited in comparison to what Beacons used to offer... hopefully that could change with a lunch menu. I would like to see more seafood offerings. According to one of the owners / managers who stopped by my table, they will be starting serving lunch in a few weeks, and hope to start brunch following that. He said they also want to have music in the future as well. All great ideas... I hope this place lasts. I have spoke and heard from many "locals", who are all happy this place is back and better than ever. I was very pleased coming here. It was gorgeous inside, food was delicious (and prepared well), and service was good (for the most part, but I expect this since they are still getting settled in). Overall, I really liked this restaurant and will totally be back in the future. I highly suggest it as a step above the rest of the options along this "chain-infested" sector of highway. 4 stars. read more
