After a glorious hike at Hawk Mountain, the kiddo was craving chicken fingers and fries, so Yelp it is to the rescue. This place was directly on our way home and as we drove past it we noticed they were open for lunch and had a small number of outdoor tables unoccupied. After a quick decision, I made a U-turn and we parked in their very large lot and walked inside with masks only to be greeted right away, so we selected a table outside and was seated within seconds. It was a pleasant surprise to see a good number of craft beer options on draft. I went with a local red ale from 1787 Brewing and it was delicious. My wife ordered up a hazy IPA from Ithaca and my kid went with a root beer (IBC bottle). My wife decided to order a chicken cheesesteak and she enjoyed it very much. The roll was so soft and fresh with plenty of options for toppings. I ordered up a gourmet chicken sandwich with bacon and cheddar, lettuce tomato and onion. All sandwiches come with chips unless you want to pay an up charge for fries or salad. The chips are not homemade but Ruffles type potato chips with ridges. I asked if I could get a side cup of a hot sauce and they brought out something that was just the right amount of heat. It was not very busy at 1 o'clock on a Wednesday afternoon, but everyone working there was super friendly and appreciative of our business. They talked to us about the changes they must do in today's situation but gladly doing so to remain in business and to keep their clientele happy. A very reasonable tab at $42 and change for three meals a root beer and two beers. Everything was fresh and just the right amount of portions. Hummels is an amazing place to dine in that their food is always good. I had my wedding reception there and the service was phenomenal. We found this thru yelp while driving from Connecticut to South Carolina. What a neat find. Clayton was our server, he was wonderful. The food was amazing, huge portions. Great place, pleasant environment and excellent food!! Great service and all around great experience. Had the jumbo lump crab cakes and my husband had the Ny Strip. Both were absolutely phenomenal. Steak cooked perfectly rare as requested and the crab cakes were loaded with crabmeat, little filling and a hint of seafood seasoning. Mashed potatoes smothered with a very tasty brown gravy along with fresh coleslaw was the perfect compliment to the NY Strip. The mashed sweet potatoes with a little butter and green beans were a great combo with my crab cakes. Highly recommend and will be going back again! read more

Never again!! They gave me a cold cheesesteak, gave my child a cold hot dog, and my grandmothers prime rib made WRONG both times. Didn't offer anything to compensate. Had to wait 15 more minutes for food !! Our waiter was very rude and inconsiderate. Didn't offer sides when I ordered both children meals but offered the table next to us. Stopped in with some colleagues for lunch while driving back from a meeting. Pleasant surprise. Good food, great service and a clean and inviting atmosphere. Stopped for a quick bite on our way home from purchasing a camper. The seller recommended it. I had the steak and baked potato, son had chicken parm, wife has a steak sand. décor was nice and welcoming, waitress was very friendly and prompt. After hiking with pals at the Hamburg Reservoir I was hoping to dine at http://yelp.com/biz/deitsch-eck-lenhartsville-3 (a restaurant proud enough of its chef to have a web page dedicated to him), but one group member objected because they 'have no vegetarian offerings', which is false. What they DO offer (besides standard fare) are Pennsylvania Dutch favorites like Corn Pie, Pig Stomach, and Chicken & Waffles. So we went to CJ Hummel's instead. I reviewed the over-sized menu (offering anything a typical diner might like) 4 times, but found nothing appealing; the menu doesn't list anything unusual or something that they think they make especially well. I ordered the Classic Combo (Skins, Wings, and Mozzarella Sticks) appetizer, which afforded nothing for which to recommend it. We stopped in here early on a Thursday. This place is worth a visit. The service was great!! This visit I had a Cajun Cheeseburger it was very tasty. My husband had a Hot Beef Sandwich with mashed sweet potatoes topped with butter and brown sugar.(very good!) Our food came out quickly. I have also had a crab cake sandwich here that was good. They do have a Happy Hour here during the week with reduced drink prices. We will definitely be stopping back again!! read more

Lovely, warm, homey country restaurant, the kind you think, "this is the America that foreigners love to discover". Food was delicious, high-quality and fresh. Meaty and juicy crab cakes, garlic mashed potatoes and AMAZING iced tea! They have a giant ballroom at the rear where they have dancing twice a week. A kid who worked there said they get 300 people sometimes. This city kid wished I could make that scene! It's right off the highway, and so totally worth a stop. read more

The boyfriend got the tuna club, it was huge and very tasty! I got the chicken cheesesteak, they put on raw onions instead of fried and they wanted to serve it with the sauce? I haven't eaten the food here, but I used to come here every, single Thursday for line dancing when I was in high school. They have line dancing every Thursday night. It's $6 for admission (cash only) and incredibly fun. They play the same songs each week, which gives everyone an opportunity to memorize the dances. It's a younger crowd. I went back last night for the first time in years. I'm 24 years old and felt REALLY old. The bar area has an older crowd. More my age. I was disappointed to find that they renovated the place with a divider wall. On the other side of the divider wall is what they intended to be a night club. It was sad, at best. There's a DJ playing pop/house music and strobe lights, but it's in Lenhartsville... Not exactly night club territory. There were maybe 30 people in this area shuffling back and forth to the music. It just felt... awkward... It IS a cheap spot to drink. I figured they might price gouge on a Thursday night (I remember back when I was in high school, they'd charge SO much for a bottle of water), but a Yuengling was only $2.50. I live in Denver now, so maybe that is expensive for the area, but to me, it feels pretty cheap. On Thursday nights, there's absolutely no parking available in the lot. You'll need to be prepared to park on the street. All in all, this place is a really fun spot to line dance and grab a drink on Thursday nights. read more

Food was decent and fairly priced. The problem was how loud it was. We were seated in the room to the right of the entrance which had about 10 tables in it. However, everyone was talking so loud we couldn't hear what the other couple at our table were even saying. If you go, ask not to be seated in that room. I am fed up with the head bouncer of this place. He is rude, belittles people in wheelchairs & acts like he owns the place. He humiliated me in front of everyone at the bar & limited my alcohol. If he or anyone else thinks I need limited, I'm positive other patrons who haven't been limited, also need it. I've been told the bartenders over serve, which is illegal & this bouncer tells me I'm limited. The bartenders are the problem, not me! Plenty of places in the area offer line dancing & I have self control. I didn't need the bouncer to loudly announce I'll be limited & proceed to gather the bartenders around & let them know. Embarrassing someone won't get them to stop drinking. It'll just get them to lose their customers. read more

We drove by here and weren't sure if itd be appropriate for our young kids, but the waitress was extremely friendly and brought them crayons. They even had pb&j on the menu. All the food was delicious and priced well. My husband's ribs fell right off the bone and my chicken cheese steak was glorious. The waitress was attentive, and polite. Mostly we stop in for the food. No idea on the dancing, except there is more of a crowd on those evenings. We always sit at a table, although there is a bar. The set up allows for some division between dining and the bar, so not an issue if you have kids along. The food has always been satisfactory if not good. Prices also inline with small town budgets. Wait staff is friendly and accommodating. Our family looks forward to the occasional dinner there. read more

Went here for a wedding last week and they could defiantly do something better... Food was to a minimum to say the least. It seem like they couldn't keep up with the people. It was a buffet style so that's makes it much easier to do rather than making separate plates. Speaking of plates they were dirty along with the centerpiece holding the flowers in the middle of the table. Your a catering hall you have people from all over visiting your establishment for the first time every.... PUT SOME EFFORT into it. Also they need to add more people to there staff... I sat in line waiting for a drink longer than I mingled around to speak to family members I have not seen in years.
