We came to Jim Thorpe (from Philadelphia) after seeing a TikTok about this spot and we are so glad we did! We made our trip on a Tuesday in mid-August. They opened at 3 that day. We did a few things around town but were still there a few minutes before they opened and we weren't the only ones! Doors were unlocked and we excitedly went in! I had surgery a week prior to our visit so the only downside was that they have no regular chairs to sit in, just bar stools. I made due because it was the only reason we came to the Jim Thorpe. Our server/bartender Jon was wonderful! Talked and joked around with us, very friendly and welcoming! Our original plan was to each order a sandwich and split them. I ordered the burger and my boyfriend ordered the brisket French dip. After we each ate half and raved about them, we switched. After one bite we switched back. The burger was so good and he loved the French dip so it was perfect! We each had old bay fries on the side as well. We plan on coming back in the winter for a weekend and we will absolutely be back here again!

Stopped here for a quick cocktail on way to Opera House. Next time will plan on staying awhile longer. Beautiful bar. Spectacular draft list and creative cocktails. Tried the Brisket Cheesesteak egg rolls. They were excellent. Would definitely return to explore the menu further. We sat at the bar and service was quick and efficient.

I have to admit that this place exceeded my expectations - the quality of the food was exceptional - both the wings and the tacos punched well above their weight. Outstanding craft bartender that used fresh ingredients. Great service as well. If any downside it's that the seating is so limited. Don't let that deter you. You'll miss out on a wonderful craft food and booze experience.

We walked in a little after 11:30 and the place was absolutely empty, we decided to stay and try it out anyways and by the time we left there were no seats available and some people waiting! There are really only bar stools available to sit, we choose the seats by the window so we could watch the rain falling outside. The food was very good, we all got something different and we all enjoyed what we ordered. I myself ordered the Chicketta chicken sandwhich with fries on the side. It was very filling and the texture of the chicken was crispy and the sauce paired well. The fries were also a great texture and I ended up finishing my entire meal! I would highly recommended this restaurant and if possible try to get there as early as you can so that you can guarantee yourself a place to sit!

The food - (we had sandwiches) - was good - the fries were crispy and just right. The people were amazing, super easy going and allowed me to bring my small dog inside - we ate upstairs in a warm toasty place and we so appreciated it. Thank you! No photo of our sandwiches, just a photo of our furbaby.

Tall skinny bartender had the personality of a shoe. We almost felt as if we were bothering him asking about different types of beer as we weren't familiar with what they had. He didn't offer a sample or compare what they had to any brands we may be familiar with. With us coming from NY/NJ area the birria tacos were not comparable to what we know as authentic. They were good and tasty but I've never had a birria taco with chipotle mayo. They were full of meat and tasty although the "consume" was super watery. Good, not great is the best I can offer.

Visiting Jim Thorpe for the first time and was excited to check out Notch Eight Craft House. It's a smaller bar and has a nice upstairs lounge area. We came on a very hot day and their AC wasn't working but they provided fans, ice, and plenty of a water. Started with the island boy cocktail and it was perfect for a hot summer day. Got the Korean brussel sprouts and brisket French onion dip. The Brussels were spicy and perfectly cooked. The sandwich was high, cheesy and delicious. The service was impeccable and kind - great experience!

Loved the truffle fries here -- crisp, flavorful, and addicting -- and the local IPA on draft was refreshing. The staff was very friendly and spot on with their recommendations. The Brussels sprouts were a bit too saucy for me, but my husband enjoyed them, and the tacos were decent as well. Overall, a good dining experience with great service, but worth noting that the space is better for individuals or couples since seating is limited to high-top bar counters (not ideal for larger groups).

This is a small cozy pub with a funky industrial decor. The pubs name refers to the highest speed on a locomotive. Some customers on the sidewalk told us to order the Crispy brisket egg rolls which we did and they were delicious. Their house brew was very refreshing. The bartenders were very friendly and told us all about the area and the local black bears.

Great service, great vibes. We had the wings and they were huge and the flavor profile was on point.

What a find in the heart of Jim Thorpe, PA. Notch Eight is a small bar with big spirit. Dani, Zach and Paulie are warm and welcoming and great hosts. Dani is an attentive bartender and makes a great espresso martini. Now the food....amazing! My husband had the French dip, which he gets A LOT, and said this was the best one he ever ate! The chips needed more seasoning so next time we'll order the fries. I had the margarita pizza with cauliflower crust and that can go very wrong but Notch Eight got it right and it was delicious. I highly recommend checking out Notch Eight and sit back and relax with a nice drink and some great food!

We arrived in Jim Thorpe early around 9 AM to secure parking, but most restaurants, including this one, don't open until 11 AM--something to keep in mind. Notch Eight Craft House is a narrow space with a bar seating about 10, plus a few high-tops. There's also an upstairs, but you'll need to order at the bar first. The shelving is a work of art, made from metal pipes and valves, featuring cool designs like squids, a water monster, and other mythical creatures against a partial brick wall--giving the place a unique vibe. The staff warmed up slowly after managing a morning rush from the Fall Festival crowd. We enjoyed drinks with bao buns--the chicken and toppings were excellent, but the buns were harder than expected, missing the soft, pillowy feel we were hoping for.

Not a bad spot 21 and over only . That why my boy and I had to eat outside on the bench but it was worth it . All stuff posted tastes good and wasn't to long of a wait .

The murder mystery itself was the highlight, the storyline was engaging, and the actors were clearly well-trained in improv and very kind. Murder Mystery: 8/10 The room was fairly standard, what you'd expect in an old-timey house. No TV or modern extras, but there were plenty of charging outlets, which was appreciated. Room: 7/10 The food during the stay was incredibly disappointing. Most of it felt like reheated microwave meals. Breakfast included eggs, bacon (very thin, broken pieces), cubed potatoes that were oddly watery, ham slices, stale danishes, cereal cups, and a parfait option that had run out by our 9am time slot. Dinner was similar in quality. I chose the cheese ravioli, but despite being second in line, it was cold. The same watery potatoes from breakfast were served again, along with green beans. The only highlight was the coffee, which was good. Food: 2/10 Unfortunately, the parking situation is very poor. There are only 5-6 spots directly outside and a few more up the hill behind the carriage house. I was dropped off at check-in and informed staff that my boyfriend would be arriving late. I was assured there would be parking available and that staff would be present 24/7 to assist him. However, I woke up to a call from him saying he couldn't find parking. I went downstairs to get help, but no staff could be found. Not wanting to disturb other guests, I eventually gave up, and he had to park on the street in the neighborhood on top of the hill overnight. At breakfast, we were briefly told about additional parking behind the carriage house, but there was no apology or acknowledgment of the issue from the night before, nor any attempt to make it right. Parking: 1/10 The staff overall seemed inexperienced and, at times, unprofessional. While I empathize with younger staff members, there were several uncomfortable moments--such as hearing an employee joke about "killing" another staff member over a small mistake, and staff walking away mid-conversation while we were trying to ask follow-up questions. Staff: 4/10 Overall, there were some enjoyable elements, especially the murder mystery, but the experience didn't quite match the price point. With a few key improvements, this could be a much more worthwhile stay.

The restaurant is tucked into the hand-built stone rowhouses, surrounded by vibrant colors, artwork, and even a few birds outside the windows. It caught my eye right away, and I'm glad it did. Note for diners: Moya is closed Monday-Wednesday, and I'd recommend making a reservation if you can. I visited on a very busy weekend in Jim Thorpe and managed to get seated around 4:30pm on Saturday without one, but the restaurant filled quickly and I think I got lucky. Inside, the space is eclectic and beautiful--rich colors on the walls, abstract art throughout (which I later learned is by the chef's wife, who co-owns the restaurant and has her studio in the same building). The atmosphere felt upscale yet comfortable, and the quiet dining room was perfect for good conversation. Our total bill came to $95.90 before tip, and it was worth every penny. Moya's menu is designed for sharing, and that's exactly what we did. Drinks: Pineapple Cosmo ($13) - perfectly sweet without being over the top, even enjoyed by a bourbon drinker. Apple Brandy Sidecar ($14) - well-balanced and beautifully made. Plates we shared: Burrata ($18) - served warm on focaccia with an olive & herb tapenade. My first time trying burrata, and I loved it. The warmth was unexpected but wonderful, and the tapenade set it off perfectly. Fresh Gnocchi ($29) - with jumbo lump crab meat and fresh tomato cream sauce. The gnocchi were perfectly dense without being heavy, and the crab chunks were huge--bigger than the gnocchi themselves! So fresh, flavorful, and satisfying. Prosciutto Salad ($18) - spinach, dried figs, gorgonzola, spiced candied nuts, balsamic glaze. Generous prosciutto on top, and the dried figs added such a clever texture and depth. A lighter dish that paired beautifully with the richness of the burrata and gnocchi. What stood out most about Moya's food was its simplicity. No over-complication, no excess of ingredients--just perfectly chosen flavors that worked in harmony and allowed each element to shine. Every dish felt thoughtful and intentional. Service was excellent--attentive without being intrusive. The bathrooms were clean, the vibe inside was intimate, and everything about the evening felt special. No on-site parking, but there's plenty of street and community parking nearby, and Jim Thorpe is a lovely walking town. My suggestion? Spend the afternoon strolling through town, enjoy dinner at Moya, then take a romantic walk down to the train tracks and water afterward. Moya isn't an everyday dinner spot for me, but it's absolutely on my list for celebrating something special--or just celebrating each other.

The first thing that we noticed that was interesting was the eerie music playing. At first I thought it wasn't bad, but the longer we stayed the creepier the restaurant became. More people left and the unlit street outside was pretty creepy as well. Drinks were decent but service was surprisingly slow and seemed a bit understaffed for a Saturday night which I thought was weird. Our appetizer was the melted mozzarella on focaccia with chimichurri and honey (too much of both). The bread was super soggy and cheese was half melted and wet as well. We decided to split the side of potatoes and the half chicken. Chicken was seasoned fine but the texture seemed almost raw. The potatoes presentation and taste were not great and there was not much flavor. Everything was wet in the worst way possible. We were in Jim Thorpe for the weekend and I booked this restaurant hoping for something special. It ended up being our least favorite meal unfortunately. But also our most expensive meal. We loved Notch Eight Craft and Marion Hose Bar.

The pub embraces the rich coal-region history that inspired its name, making it a perfect stop while exploring this beautiful mountain town. One of the highlights is their large covered outdoor deck, which is ideal for summer dining. Even better, they're prepared for every season--they can enclose the deck during rainy weather and have a heating system in place to keep guests comfortable during the colder months. The day we visited happened to be Trivia Day, which made for a lively and entertaining atmosphere. It's easy to see why both locals and visitors enjoy spending time here. The pub has a welcoming, laid-back vibe that's perfect whether you're stopping in for a meal, drinks with friends, or just taking a break from exploring town. We started with the Tater Kegs--oversized tater tots stuffed with bacon, cheddar cheese, and chives, served with zesty horseradish sauce and sour cream. They arrived piping hot, perfectly crispy, and absolutely delicious. A great appetizer to share. For entrées, I couldn't resist the Shepherd's Pie. Ground beef, onions, carrots, and peas are simmered in a rich gravy and topped with beautifully piped mashed potatoes baked until golden brown. It was hearty, comforting, and packed with flavor. We also ordered the Molly Maguire Burger loaded with peppers, mushrooms, onions, and bacon. I added pepper jack cheese, and it was definitely the right choice. Every bite was juicy, flavorful, and satisfying. A special shoutout to our server, Abbey, who was outstanding from start to finish. Not only was she attentive with drink refills and checking on us throughout the meal, but she also took the time to recommend other sights and attractions around Jim Thorpe. Her friendly personality and local knowledge made our visit even more enjoyable. Between the delicious food, fun atmosphere, historic setting, and exceptional service, Molly Maguires delivered a memorable experience. If you're visiting Jim Thorpe, do yourself a favor and stop in.
