Sometime around the pandemic the food changed and this place never recovered. Used to be my go to as it was close enough to arrive piping hot (A complaint I have with a lot of delivery). Cj wok is the best Chinese food hands down. The boneless spare ribs are my favorite I won't order them anywhere else because i am let down every time. Just recently got some food at C J Wok! It has Chinese food and sushi and I sampled both and they were good. I had the chicken with snowpeas and got the Sushi regular which was a nice display of fish and rice and included California rolls. It was the first time I got sushi ordered out and it tasted so good! This is the epitome of average food. I went with the basics: Shrimp egg roll, chicken fried rice, and steamed pork dumplings. Everything tasted average. The pork dumplings were ok. Just ok. Last night, after several orders that went well, CJ Wok lost my business. I placed my order at their online site at 5:30pm.  It arrived AFTER 7:15. It was over an hour late, after several calls and arguing, being lied to, and after several requests to cancel and refund. On arrival, the order was wrong. The longer version of the story. After placing my order at 5:30 an email came through at 5:31 stating the order had been recieved and accepted with an expected arrival time of 6:15.  Having ordered several times from them before, I knew not to expect the order on time. Typically, orders from CJ Wok would arrive to me at aproximately the one hour mark.  For the record, they are under 3 miles away. At aproximately 6:30 I called the phone number in the email to inquire about arrival time and the call was routed to what sounded like a fax machine. I dialed back several times and to hear the same electronic noises. I went online to the site I ordered from and called the *different* number that was on the site. The time of that call was 6:35.   The person who answered the main number first told me the order was "on the way" and also that they had no way to check the status of online orders and that I should call another number. This was the number in the email.  I explained that nobody had answered and that it sound like it had gone to what sounded like a fax. She argued with me that there was no fax machine on the other line. I took her word for it that the order was on the way. I tried the number that didn't answer a few more times at 6:40 and 6:48 when the order hadn't yet shown up.  They number either went to the fax or was busy. At 6:50 I phoned the main number again. Again, they said my order was on the way.  I explained that i had called 15 minutes earlier and asked if they 'actually knew the order was on the way of if they were making things up?' They again told me to call the other number and I again explained I had but that there was still no answer and that the phone was going to what sounded like a fax or busy. We argued again.   ***It was at this point I first asked to cancel the order and be refunded.*** I was told they couldn't cancel an online order and that is have to call the other number. I AGAIN explained that number wasn't answering. They told me they would have the boss call me. I waited another 20 minutes and there was no delivery nor was there a call from "the boss." I called the main number AGAIN at 7:10. I asked for the order to just be canceled and refunded.  They again told me I would have to call the other number. Between 7:11 and 7:16 I called a few more times and got the fax noise. At 7:16 someone finally answered.  It was the SAME VOICE I'd been speaking to at the other number. I gave the benefit of the doubt, explained my situation and asked for my order to be refunded. They told me my order was on the way and that they couldn't refund an online order.   I replied that I didn't believe them anymore and again asked how to get my order refunded. While we argued the delivery showed up. On opening the delivery, my hot food was cold, 2 items were the wrong size and two items were missing. As an aside, I ask for utensils, sauce packets and the like not to be included in my orders. I expect that to me missed sometimes. My order contained those items and a rediculous number of fortune cookies that were, I guess, supposed to be some sort of apology? read more

Yes, they're open during the Pandemic. But, they suck. We ordered food online at 5:39. We were told the food would be ready 6:15-6:25. I get there at 6:30. They've built in a take-out window into their door. Great. I get there, give them my information. Apparently, their new procedure(which was fine) is to call you when your food is ready, so just sit in your car and wait. Okay, given the environment, social distancing and all that, I'm cool. So I wait...and wait...and WAIT...AND WAIT At 7PM, I'M STILL WAITING 7:10, I call them again, THEY'RE STILL MAKING MY FOOD By 7:30, these *#**$*$* haven't called me to tell me my food is done. First time ordering from CJ Wok while visiting PA. We ordered the House Mei Fun. It was delivered hot which in my book, is an absolute plus. There was just the right amount of sauce(sometimes Mei Fun can be drenched in sauce..) . The shrimp was fresh and the veggies crispy. The pork was delicious and had a flavor that had me craving more! in the area had never ordered from them before and I can tell you they now have a new regular local customer! We really like CJ Wok's food, but after our last two experiences, they lost our business. Last time we ordered, we ordered through their website and got a delivery time with our confirmation email. We waited about a half hour after the said delivery time to call and check our order. They said it was heading out right then but we could overhear them finding the order and realizing it hadn't been made. Despite this, the food was good and we decided to give them a try again. Tonight, I placed an online order but put a delivery time for later in the evening hoping that giving extra time would help with last times issue. Despite the specified delivery time, we received a text that our food was at the door about 20 minutes after we placed the order. We checked both doors, but nothing. We waited a bit more until our actual scheduled delivery time to call the shop thinking it might've just been an error. When we called, the lady at the shop told us the food has already been delivered over a half an hour ago. We explained about the text and that we checked but nothing was there. She said they would remake the order and send it in 15-20 minutes. Cut to 45 minutes later when our food still hadn't come. (This is now two hours after the order was placed and one hour after the scheduled delivery time) We called the shop back and the woman who picked up made excuses about their delivery driver changing shifts and that she would have the driver call us. Miraculously, within minutes the driver called us and arrived at our house. He repeatedly told my husband the food was already delivered and someone must've stolen it. The shop was not apologetic or helpful, and the driver shrugged his shoulders and walked away as my husband explained that there was no way someone took our food as we checked repeatedly. We ordered for pick up and I was happy to see the restaurant is still very COVID conscious - with no customers allowed inside and a distanced pick up window in place. All employees that I could see were wearing masks and gloves. We really enjoyed the egg drop soup, hot and sour soup, and egg rolls. The wontons in chili garlic sauce and mongolian beef dishes were not quite what we expected, but were still good. We disagreed on the vegetable lo mein - one party thought it was fine and another thought it was a little bland. Reasonably priced and good portion sizes. Decided to try CJ wok for the first time and was truly disappointed. Ordered Chicken and Broccoli & General Tso chicken. It was the worst. Both dishes lacked flavor. There was so much soggy Broccoli for the chicken and Broccoli, I could not find the chicken. The pieces of breaded chicken for the General Tso was so hard, I had to stop eating. Expensive for what you get. Don't pay drivers well. They deliver too far out and this can often result in people's orders who live closer being prolonged. ((And people, tip the drivers at least 3.00 or don't order. CJ charges 1.50 for delivery but takes half of that from their drivers. And for those people with bad attitudes they shouldn't deliver at all. Too many upper Darby residents do not tip. The college crowd is often another offender who do not tip. Day care workers and businesses on Baltimore Pike and 69th Street area also feel they do not have to tip these people. They want to ride on someone else's tip to get delivery. Drivers need to black list those bad attitude customers and those who tip under 3.00 read more

Finally.....a great place for Chinese delivery!! I was hesitant to try it given the poor reviews here, but after trying pretty much every other place in the area and not being satisfied with any of them, I finally decided to give it a shot. I can't speak to the location itself, but I can speak to the food and it is hands down the best we have found in 2.5 years that we have lived in the area. The only reason I gave it 4 stars instead of 5 is that they use a lot of onions in their fried rice and I'm not a fan. The food tasted a delicious, was priced super low, and was not at all greasy! Everything we got was cooked well and had great flavor. Plus the portions are huge, especially when you consider how reasonably they are priced. As of today, C J Wok has arrived and Pearl has departed. Pearl is a shell, a building that was housed a Restaurant that could take on Margret Quo and win, as far as i was concerned. i called, today, to get my Sushi Fix, since Pearl died, i could get good Sushi at Whole Foods. i resorted to getting sushi, with a small s, at those buffets along the Pike. We are not talking about Sushi made by someone who cares; we are talking about sushi made by paycheck not a person. i know the days of Individuals washing pots and pans before he even saw a grain of rice in the kitchen are far and away from the USA; forget it coming to DelCo! i do not know who or how my EEL and CUCUMBER SUSHI was made. i only know that the Eel was Cooked and Presented, in a much better fashion that has not happened in a while. There is GOOD Sushi out there, Sampan Inn, for one; but i live in the Lansdowne/Springfield Area, not Haverford, a 20 minute car ride away AND they do not deliver. i, also, ordered the Pork Fried Rice, a favorite of this "ghost", as customers like me are called in China Town. Even the Rice is cooked better here and looks better. Today, was my FIRST, of many, Home Deliveries. i have more to choose from and will. Not bad, not fantastic either. My husband and I order from here about once or twice per month. CJ is not too far from us, so it makes ordering from here extremely convenient. However, I would not suggest ordering over the phone. They do not understand one word of English. The employee will ask you over and over to repeat yourself, even if you have already sent it two-three times. Also, it does not matter what item you order, it will ALWAYS take 20-30 minutes. When you enter CJ, the employees are nice and courteous. The food isn't all that bad either. To sum this review up, this place isn't the best by any means. However, it isn't the worst place around the Drexel Hill area. My husband and I will continue ordering from here in the future. read more

Would give more like 3.5 stars. It was really good the first few times we went, then quality sort of deteriorated the last several times we ordered. Maybe they were having off days. We recently ordered shrimp mai fun, sweet potato sushi rolls and shrimp tempura rolls for e.g. The mai fun had no flavor, and the sushi rolls were really cold and mushy. It tasted like they had been sitting around for quite a while. They food came less than 20 mins after i ordered which suggests it surely was not made from scratch. On the plus side, the mai fun is *usually* really good- light, flavorful and plenty of shrimp and veg, the shrimp egg rolls are always fresh and tasty as well. They don't use msg . Thats also a plus. This review is for delivery. I ordered shrimp rolls, General Tso chicken, shrimp with garlic sauce, Singapore curry noodles and one order of spicy tuna rolls just to test out their sushi. The order came very quickly and everything was fresh, hot and nicely packaged. The sushi was of decent quality and preparation. Not sushi restaurant, but pretty darn good. C J Wok used to be Lucky Star. The new owners added sushi but we only tried the new ownership's Chinese menu. We gave them several tries on Chinese food. Frankly, they aren't as good as the folks who ran it as Lucky Star, and they aren't as pleasant. We now go elsewhere for our Chinese. Draons II in Drexelbrook is very close to this store and has quite good reviews. At our house, we prefer Jin Garden on Springfield Rd. If you have tried their sushi, you should review it.
