I've kept tropical fish for decades. It's a fun and peaceful hobby that I've enjoyed since I was a child. In all these years, I've never seen a shop like C-Macs. It's a local family owned place that is really into the hobby, not just profit margins. I had a Rafael Catfish that died after 31 years. Regular big retailers would have laughed, but Cindy actually cared ordered two new ones just for me, They're in my tank now, doing fine. In addition to maybe a hundred tanks of fish, they have every medicine, filter, and gizmo you could imagine, on shelves on the walls from floor to ceiling. They're also very nice people. Best LFS (local fish store) in the area! Albeit small this store packs a big punch into its cramped quarters. They have everything to outfit a basic beginner tank to high end CO2 Aquascape, freshwater tanks and high end coral or fish only saltwater set ups! If you've got a desire for monster South American cichlids, they got you covered there as well. Not into aggressive fish?... then they have high-quality betta fish and guppies in the back. C-Macs employees are very knowledgeable about every aspect of the hobby, and are willing to answer even the simplest questions and provide the best solution for your situation. They don't push sales, but try to fit the needs of every customer. I've been in there when it's super packed and there's barely any room to move and the employees are still positive and happy to share their knowledge and help with everyone. I even asked if they were going to move to a larger location and the owner mentioned, he's been looking, but hasn't found the right one yet. If you're old enough to remember the old Fintastic fish store that was the gold standard in Charlotte. This is basically the new version and to be honest it's even better! read more

One of my favorite fish spots I frequent for fish supplies and new fish. I get black worms regularly for my pea puffer here. They have everything. Literally everything. All the fish. All the medications. Super friendly staff and owners on site. It's a little small, but I'll take that trade off. Especially if there's a few people in the shop. The walkways are narrow, one at a time style. So much stuff ! read more

This place is amazing! They not only have an amazing selection of freshwater and salt animals, but they have an amazing selection of freshwater shrimp and will even do special orders. Our 20 gallon tank was having a hard time and we had tried everything to fix it (from what other pet stores said). After going to C Macs they helped us figure out what could help our tank and in less than a week our tank is thriving! Highly recommend and we plan on using them for any tanks we get or new fish. read more

This is the spot for aquarists! Staff is super friendly and personable and this store has levels to it! Wether you are a beginner looking for guppies or a want a panther grouper they got it! Great place. It looks small as you first enter but they have a ton of fish. The place was clean and the fish tanks all seemed very healthy. The staff was super friendly with zero sales pressure. I just bought a fish from them, but the fish killed two of my fishes so I wanted to go trade the fish back(the fish was completely healthy, nothing was wrong with it) for another fish that was half the value of the fish I originally had. When I asked them to do this trade, I was yelled at and hit, bad customer service in general. I was racially discriminated against and kicked out of the store. I hope no one does business with anyone related to the store. read more

I shopped at other local specialty aquarium stores, and got bad advice and bad prices. I went here to get some shrimp and some new plants, and wow the store is great! Super clean, great selection, and great prices. I am new to the hobby, which I let the person assisting me know, and he helped me get exactly what was best for my tank and gave me some good advice. Clean store that is growing. Doing a good job with hard to keep species. I purchased a juvenile ribbon eel that they fed in front of me.
