I want to start by saying the owner/ employees are all super nice and willing to find you what you are looking for /need. We went in on a Sunday and I have to say I'm used to animals and pet stores having worked at Petsmart for a year. If you have asthma please be careful because the smell is a bit strong/guffy. I liked the variety of items from live plants, tanks, bio actives, feeders, supplies, etc. so that was awesome. I was less impressed with the chaotic nature of the shop. Lots of animals everywhere, not sure which were store sold versus part of the rescue and rehab portion of the store. (Love that they do rescue) Not sure if they just don't have a back room to keep supplies but a lot of store use items were on the sales floor so it just seemed a bit chaotic and disorganized unfortunately especially with a lot of empty used tanks randomly stacked in some areas. The other really big down side for me was their prices. A rescue crested gecko was about $190 I believe and there were others cresties that lechies, or larger lizards but they seemed high. The other high price was dubia roaches, which were .50c each at $10 only getting me a 20 count for mediums (1inch ish). I support small stores like this but was bit of a disappointment. read more

I buy feeder rodents from here and this shop easily beats out any competition on price and quality of the feeders. Was looking forward to this place and drive up from Columbia. Goal was to spend some serious money to create a palace for my frogs. Inside the smell was intense. I get that reptiles smell but this made our eyes water. Four employees out front disappeared, leaving one employee who spent 20 minutes discussing crickets with a customer. Crickets !!! Have bought a few tarantulas from them in the past, all healthy and happy to this day. Store has friendly and helpful employees and a great selection of healthy tarantulas. A little pricey, but I like the work these people do so much I tend to not mind the cost all that much. read more

Went to Cold Blooded for the first time today and it was such a cool experience! Never been to a place like it! We are new Bearded Dragon owners and the whole thing has been overwhelming, I found this place online and wanted to find something's for the tank and talk to experts. Came into this place after having dinner over at pho hoa. When we drove into the shopping center we saw and it and were interested in what kind of store it was. So it is a reptile store.. and other things. The staff here were SO nice. They really made the experience of the store, they walked us around and showed us every rare animal in store, gave us background and facts on them it was just so interesting I think we spent a whole hour in here. I think the man that owns the store- he owns most of the snakes in store. And he was kind enough to pull out the snakes and let us touch them, and also feed the turtles in the back of the store. This is not at all your typical pet shop, some animals are not even for sale but just this whole experience was great, I was more entertained than I would of been if I'd gone to the zoo!! So I have some pros and cons. Pros: a decent selection of items including live plants for bio active setups, a super nice employee who was very helpful, and they sell pangea food & big bags of leca. Cons: the bad smell is overwhelming and a lot of the enclosures were dirty. There was old food and feces in the tanks. I saw multiple employees sitting on their phones so to me there's no excuse for the animals to be in poor conditions, especially the turtles and goldfish that are crowded in an indoor pond. read more

We recently visited CB&B. My son Joseph was on a quest to find a Blue Tongued Skink and CB&B delivered. The store is amazing and looked more like a reptile museum. Michael the owner was amazing only helpful and absolutely had a deep rooted passion for his animals and business. This place is pleasantly unique. Being in Charlotte there are a lot of different places to buy animals. But this place focuses primarily on reptiles and other non traditional creatures. Everyone here is extremely knowledgeable and friendly. Most pet stores have no regard for the lives of the pets/animals that they sell but this one seems to make this their number one priority. Most animals I asked about had names, which (to me at least) means something. I could literally walk up to an employee and describe an animal and they would literally know exactly which one I was talking about. I went to their Grand Opening Party and it was truly grand. They had a lady that swallows swords and other extremely awesome stuff. That alone shows that they are nowhere near traditional and I mean that in the greatest way possible. Even if you don't know much about reptiles I truly recommend at least stopping by. You may learn a thing or two. read more

This place has everything for your reptiles! They have a variety of enclosures, lighting, heating lamps, thermometers, bedding/substrate, décor, food... all kinds of supplies. They also had an impressive range of reptiles for sale! Bearded dragons, snakes, turtles, frogs...all different kinds. They literally had wall to wall enclosures of some of the coolest pets. They also had scorpions, centipedes, hissing cockroaches, and a variety of spiders! The staff was extra friendly and helpful. They were also extremely knowledgeable about each and every animal in there. It was like being in a museum and having a personal guide there with you telling you very cool and interesting facts about each of the creatures. It has unfortunately been revealed that that this place is a money racket who does not care about their animals or their employees. As others have said; their animals are kept in deplorable conditions and likely have parasites and diseases. Adult bearded dragons are kept in tiny spaces without UVB and they have been there for the last year and not for sale. The place is FILTHY. Their employees are treated terribly; they are paid minimum wage and overworked to the extreme. If you are a regular you may have noticed that they have all new staff. I wonder why? I also overheard one of the new employees giving incorrect information about a Leopard Gecko to a new owner last night. I am not a reptile rescuer, but stumbled upon a very very sad situation and am trying g to help rehab this bearded dragon and find him a new home. I reached out to CB&B to seek assistance with his needs, provided photos and asked for help with a vet visit, as they give out cards for a free initial visit when buying an overpriced reptile. The owners messaged me back saying they couldn't help with any of it. Absolutely shameful. I have been a well known and loyal customer (spending about $1500) for the last 9 months. This place is amazing. I was visiting my friend in Charlotte and he recommended I check it out. I am into oddities and nature and this place is true to its name. They have critters I had never even heard of! The owners and staff are great. Their love for the animals shows in both the care they take and in the knowledge they impart on their customers. They are always so nice, and really care about their animals; even during corona (they sell cool face masks with the logo on it (: ). They also care about customers, and make sure the products they sell work. I went once 3 times in a day because a ZooMed lamp wasn't working, and my UV heat bulb that I had just bought went out in the process. At the end of it, we decided to just get two separate lamps, and I walked out of there with them and a new bulb; the owner (I think?) called it even. My point is, they really care about the animals well being because even though I didn't get my beardie here, they made sure that I went home with a working night and heat lamp, even though I sadly had to go back and forth a few times (it happens sometimes, don't buy the ZooMed double lamp max watt 260 from anywhere if you plan on using the full wattage. I initially bought it at PetSmart, returned it, got the same lamp here instead, came back and forth until we decided on two separate lamps). They also have great prices on feeders, and they are healthy and big too. The reptile selection is wild, they have rescues (a big turtle rescue pond for turtle lovers) and I have even seen some in tanks that say "visiting while my owner is on vacation". They even sexed my beardie. I went in there with my baby, Dratini, saying "she", and the guy looked at her and went "Hmmm, let me see this fella, I'll be right back". He took my buddy over to some co workers, examined her, and came back saying "Its a boy!" ‍ 100/100 for them, I hope they are in business for a long time!! read more

Wow, let me tell you how they treated me!! I just moved here from another state and have a good collection of reptiles for the past 15 years and needed some mice for my breeding collection. I prefer to be smart and breed my mice to feed my snakes instead of buying every single one so I called them before I drive out there to make sure they sell female mice first because some stores do and some don't, this particular male answers and says oh yea we sell female mice so I said great I will drive out cause I need a few. I get there and get this, I say I need 3 females and that was fine up until I said I needed 2 males then he says to me well I have to see first cuz otherwise you be undercutting us by breeding! I'm like wait you told me you sell female mice it shouldn't matter what I need them for ... long story short, LIARS! They were very argumentative and really ridiculous. I will never go in there again. Ever. Not to mention it was really dirty and there were many cages that had empty water dishes etc. was not what I expected after seeing all these good reviews???? So idk about you but I would never buy from someone who lies right off the bat. It's as if they figure we'll maybe she will buy other stuff when she gets here???
