We came here with our friends and their baby. Cons: Took 20 mins sitting in traffic to go .5 miles due to them blocking a main road/ side street in Bumpy road to get in and prepare for your tires to be very muddy! We split a big bag price with friends and wanted for same price just get two smaller bags they refused to do this We got here at 3:30 or hard closes at 5. By 4:30 everything was basically closed up. Unless you're 7 feet tall, don't bother going for apples. Everything's on the ground and god forbid you touch the ropes surrounding the trees. Two other groups, as well as my group, were spoken to by employees, or "the apple police" as they've been rightfully deemed. We went around the rope to pick apples off the back-side of the trees because the front sides had already been cleared. Been coming here for years and while some of the staff is nice, there's definitely a few rotten apples in the bunch. read more

I wanted to take a moment (since your staff took plenty of mine) to share my recent experience -- though "experience" might be too generous a word. I was just at your establishment a few hours ago, and while I was hoping for a pleasant outing with my family, what we got instead was a masterclass in how not to treat customers. From the moment we arrived, it felt like we were being followed more closely than your ripest fruit. One employee (who I assume was either in charge or just on a power trip) took it upon herself to stalk us around the place, whisper to another employee to "watch our family," and even picked peaches for us -- as if we couldn't be trusted to do it ourselves. If that wasn't enough, when we circled back, she performed what I can only describe as a dramatic fake-lunch-exit stage left. Nice try, but we saw you. Let's not forget the cherry on top: being rude to our children. That's a bold move, especially at what's supposed to be a family-friendly location. Congratulations -- you managed to make what should've been a fun, wholesome outing feel more like a security drill. I don't know if this employee mistook us for shoplifters or simply thought families with children are a threat to your fruit, but either way, the behavior was uncalled for and frankly insulting. I'd suggest you remind your staff that customer service doesn't include surveillance tactics or passive-aggressive theatrics. We won't be rushing back, but I do hope you take this seriously and ensure no one else gets the same treatment. read more

A real traffic,people nightmare. Just too many people with screaming kids! Waiting in line for 20 mins to buy apples at the store. As an older couple we could hardly get into the store. Adorable spot! I came here to go apple picking mid-late September. It's a much smaller farm than expected in comparison to others I usually go to out in western Mass. The trees seemed a bit over-picked as many of them only had apples towards the top, but not a big deal. We were able to find other trees we could pick off of without a ladder. The little marketplace is where it's at! They had an awesome display of Halloween decorations. I liked that they have a separate "donut shack" outside of the store specifically just for apple cider donuts. The marketplace had lots of homemade items to choose from; I bought apple coffee cake, carolina reaper (spicy!) salsa and of course, donuts from the shack. All were delicious! I love supporting small/family businesses but I'm not sure if I'd drive a long distance to come here as there are bigger (and possibly better) farms out there, but I definitely think it's worth checking out if you live in the area! read more

We went apple picking here today. There were so many apples. The staff was super friendly. There were so many fruit options. You could pick apples, peaches, raspberries, blueberries, etc. You could also eat while you picked. They offered a tractor ride out to the Apple trees which my daughter loved. The little farm with the chickens and goats was awesome and we loved shopping at the cute store. 10/10 experience. I don't understand all the negative reviews. I don't have a negative thing to say. This farm is absolutely terrible. For starters the girl at the apple farm has a nasty attitude. Bob was useless. Then we go to the barn portion where you're supposed to get apple cider donuts. There was a nice sign that said apple cider donuts here. Upon asking they were completely sold out on a Tuesday?? You can't meet customer demand?? A waste of time and money. I am absolutely APPALLED how horrid this customer service is. The man at the parking front (I am assuming is the owner) has no regard for customer service or human life at all. We were trying to cross the street to enter the farm on a very busy street with lots of cars with our baby in a stroller, and he was motioning us to stay in the road and didn't want us to enter the farm. This was extremely dangerous since there was no sidewalk. After reading all of the reviews, I know my family isn't the only one who has dealt with this monster. There are countless reviews even saying that he has made people cry. He absolutely needs to either retire or stop working if they want the business to continue. Also, the lines were so atrociously long that you had to wait 2+ hours to get on the hayride. We tried to get food after waiting 2 hours for the hayride, only to be turned down after we were already in line for a while! I can understand them not serving food after a certain time, but they should have done is have an employee cutting off the line before people are standing there and waiting forever. Not to mention.. worst of all there's also no apple picking!!! They literally told us it was closed because there was too many people. Drove all the way to this horrible farm. Will never ever be returning! please don't support this business! read more

I was super bummed ... we were there on a Sunday and Donut shack closed @4:30, lines were insane for everything Oct.1 2023 - incredible place though, Super delicious apples and friendly staff, FUN Halloween display room, Gorgeous Mums and pumpkins. Grill was open and there was a tent set up w picnic tables as well as drinks + sparkling cider for sale - free hayrides to and from orchard, if u do stop at the Barn/Garden/Donuts area first - and to and from Barn area if u stop at the Orchard - signs VERY clear on what's expected from us, and ticket/apple bag pricing ... This place has changed so much over the years but the changes this year made us feel unwelcome. There were only a few rows in which everyone was allowed to pick from. They had guards watching you. The check-in and checkout process was fine. But even in the store, they were quite unfriendly. The apple cider donuts are no longer made to order and they hand you a box of cold donuts. read more

Had a good experience until we started exiting the apple picking area. The lady at exit stopped my husband. She started taking apples out of the bag and said to give her 10$ or we could go wait in line to pay 17$ for a small bag. I paid 48$ for big bag. She just made a huge deal and embarrassed us. We said we would leave the 6 apples she took out but said since we picked them we have to pay for them. The apples weren't falling from the bag and yes the bag was full we paid $48 of course we would fill the bag up to the top. read more

Girlfriend and I had a great time at pick your own apples despite the negative reviews. Once you're in the orchard you're pretty much on your own and theres no one around. The only issue is the crowd at the main stand, but get over it. read more

The most rude staff I have ever met in the apple orchard - mainly the older women! The younger staff was much nicer! Felt like we were being policed. Listening to our conversations and came at us aggressively when we stopped at a blocked over area (not even going past the rope) ... just taking a look. Also rude just getting ready to walk into the orchard - telling us kids better twist the apples off and not pull and don't dare overfill bags or else we are getting charged! Family member was shamed and humiliated by the short young woman working at the farmers market for dropping a couple of peaches b/c of YOUR faulty bags, then LOUDLY forcing her to pay for the dropped ones. Mediocre, bordering on terrible. The COVID times are a unique situation to say the least, but we were happy to hear this orchard was making accommodations. We were under the impression that our reservation implied that we would be avoiding a crowded place, however this couldn't have been more far from the truth. After being mumbled at to head to the lot down the road, we were then mumbled at to park down the end of the dusty lot. When we headed up to the orchard entrance it was immediately clear that reservations were only a facade. This place was swarmed. Crowds, lines to pick up our "pre-payed" bag of apples ($45 for a large, no overfilling and no more than 5 people)! Before entering the orchard we were forced to stop and listen to a slew of rules, including: no overfilling, no tasting apples, and no dropping apples on the ground. We were then allowed to follow the herd down past a quarter mile of perfectly good apples to pick from their "allowed apple hedges." Their trees were pruned to the point where they grew much taller than wide, making apple selection per tree limited. There were no green varieties of apples available, and there were workers patrolling the grounds, assumedly enforcing the strict code of adherence. All in all this was a mediocre experience, and I haven't even gotten to the farm stand. To keep it short, it was bad. The line for donuts and cider wrapped around a dusty driveway with the sun beating down. It moved is slow as it was long, with only one window open. Lukewarm donuts, frozen caramel apples, meh cider, and unenthusiastic service. All in all without COVID this place would have been trash. With COVID it only got worse. I won't even touch on the lack of mask enforcement. Won't be coming back here, won't be recommending this, and won't be happy for the rest of the day. read more

We are seekers of the good and local, driving a ways won't stop us as long as it is good. C.N.'s defines New England in the autumn and it's the reason people fly in from warmer locales to experience things like apple picking, haunted hayrides and a pumpkin patch. Thankfully, it's nearby enough where we don't need to fly to get to it and I highly recommend this place for families as a weekend activity. They have everything you'd possibly want from an apple farm, from warm apple cider donuts just freshly packaged to probably a dozen different types of gigantic, sweetened spheres of goodness straight from their nearby fields. We did not pick our own because it was later in the season but I can see from the other reviews that apparently it is pricey. The apples inside were like $2/lb which I'm fine with. The Halloween setup next to the store was a really nice touch and I was happy to see that they didn't charge a fee. I have included some pictures of their display and was happy to see it was ok to take some after asking the girl watching over them (no touching!!). After spending some money on goodies in the store, we decided to take them back out to the car and then return for the haunted hayride. We passed by the animal pens full of chickens and goats and were enamored by the cuteness of the baby goats galloping around and learning to use their new-found legs. The hayride, although advertised as "not so scary" was in parts, a little scary. It wasn't actors dressed up like Mickey Mouse, they had horror masks on and jumped out from behind trees and gravestones and then creepily followed us for a bit. I jumped a few times and the little girl next to us was crying in parts. Stopping at a pumpkin patch in the middle of the ride to take a nice 10 minute break and possibly get one to take home was a nice touch. All in all, there are plenty of things to do here and is one of those NE gems you only know about from either a google search, hearing about it from friends or trusty Yelp. They don't exactly advertise so I'm glad I can help them out a bit in that department. Nobody was ever rude to us but I did get a chuckle out of all of the signs not to do this or do that. It's their place, their rules....I'm not going to fault them for it. We were also NOT charged the $5 parking I read about from others on a weekend, although I am a bit dismayed to read many people talk about having just one or two more apples in their bag than they were allowed and get "yelled at" for it. read more

If I could give a 0, that is what we would rate it. Dirty, dusty, commercialized farm. My husband drove 45 minutes Saturday afternoon to take grandkids at my suggestion. I was working and could not join them. We chose this place due to close proximity and supporting local farms. Place was overcrowded, lined for everything. No social distancing or COVID compliance. Over priced. Good for children (maybe) Exhausting walkways and rude employees. My friend asked for a warm pumpkin donut and the employee said "we made too many of them, so this is what you get".....cold. I saw an ice cream cone and asked for that. I received it in a cup....and I was told "no cones". Disappointed doesn't begin to cover it. NEVER AGAIN. The pumpkin pie was $14.00!!!!! AND it was approximately 9 inches in diameter. The workers on the orchard side made me feel so unwelcome. At the entrance, the woman asked my child's friend if my children spoke English. It was such a bizarre thing to say, as opposed to "hello," "welcome," or any other greeting. Inside, another woman approached us 3 times while we were there and its a pretty small orchard with just 4-5 varieties. First she asked me kind of rudely what my bag was for (I said it was to hold my belongings), then to inspect my bag, and lastly she came over to our group (2 moms and 5 kids) to ask why we were standing in a group talking. She had also approached my friend before I got there. The farm stand was cute and big with lots of variety. The Halloween display was a nice attraction. The smoky bubbles were fun and the ice cream stand had lots of options. The animals and the hot food options were good too. Next time I'd rather just go to the farm stand, I'd rather pick apples somewhere else. read more

The people that work here are so unnecessarily rude and angry. I witnessed an older man probably the owner, drive up on a gator vehicle and just scream at the top of his lungs at the maybe 14 year old boy working there, calling him names, swearing and his face beet red with veins bulging out, all over where he was telling people to park on a busy weekend. It was wildly inappropriate and disturbing. I won't return to this place, they seem to have zero regard for humans or animals there. Just gross, there are so many other places to enjoy fresh produce or to visit a working farm. Don't waste the trip. read more

Came here early September for apple picking! So glad I found something closer in the South Shore area. It wasn't the best apple farm but does the job. The prices per bags was decent (forgot how much but it's available on their web). Then, I headed to the store location which is a min drive down and got apple cider donuts ... there was a huge line but moves fairly quick. They have other stuff too.. I've cream, cider slush.. fun things to try. FYI, if you really care for galaapples..... there's NONE available at this location. read more

Apple picking this year was a nightmare! We have been going to local orchards since our kids were little. Now that we are older, and our kids have families of their own, we go apple picking with the grandkids. We have gone to CN Smith farm for the past 5 years, but it's no longer what I would call "Family Friendly." What I mean is that you pay for the experience when you go apple picking, which is why it costs so much for the bags. We go there to pick enough to fill a couple of bags and then we usually go to the store. It's not the same these days. First of all, all of the unique apples are off limits to the public and the standard types of local apples are all you can choose from. Not to mention that they allow so many people in at once, that there is a much longer list of rules every year now and some of the employees make you feel like a thief! I understand that they have to make at least a small profit each season, but being told to fill your bag and leave immediately isn't exactly fun for anyone. My husband is a disabled veteran with PTSD. It's hard enough for us to get him to go anywhere where there is a crowd already, after this year (2023), I know that he's not going to agree to come along anymore. We even skipped going to the store this year because of how loud and crowded it was. Add the cranky employees, expensive cost of the bags, and being told to hurry up (we weren't slow or getting in the way, our family isn't even that big), and we were all upset afterwards. Next year we plan to go somewhere else. We've been to other places throughout New England, and we know they're all busy as well, but something is broken at CN Smith now . read more

We had an older man (maybe the owner) screaming at us to hurry up and park our car while we were waiting for kids to get out of the way so we didn't run them over. We have come here a few times for blueberry picking, apple picking and pumpkin picking. The pumpkin picking was the same day as the hoe-down, which is really fun and totally worth it if you have small kids. They take you on a tractor ride to the pumpkin patch and then you can pick your own! The apple picking was decent, you can park close by and then walk to the orchard. Blueberry picking was also pretty quick, you can walk a very short distance to get the blueberries. I have always had a decent experience here with staff so was shocked to see so many bad reviews. Horrible first experience. My friend and I were excited to experience the farm for the first time. When we were looking for a place to park, the man in the cowboy hat and flannel yelled at us to move. My friend started crying because this was our first experience here and the first time someone had talked to us here. After seeing my friend crying, he kept yelling and showed no remorse. We decided to leave without getting out of our car or buying anything because of this. We will be telling everyone we know not to go here because of the lack of respect for the customers. This was a horrible first experience and this man should not work here if he has no customer service skills. We went to go apple picking and arrived at 2:30pm, the orchard was closed because they were at capacity, even though apple picking closes at 5pm. There were at least 10 cars in front of us and numerous cars behind us too. We won't be back. read more
