I don't have the time to write reviews but I do have time to promote a true craftsman. I called the posted number (which goes straight to the owner), Chris picked up right away, knew more about my problem better than I could explain, and was out in less than an hour. AMAZING response and expertise just over the phone. I had no idea what to expect for the cost, after the work was done and seeing the nasty a$$ sewage mess he had to go through, I would of been seriously happy to pay for more. Had an emergency plumbing situation where our tub and toilet were backing up. (We only have one bathroom) He came on a Sunday without an extra charge. He charged a flat fee which was amazing since he was here for quite some time. He arrived when he said he would (within an hour of our call), used a camera to identify the problem and showed my husband, walked us through our options, and most importantly he fixed the problem. Mike and his crewmate Chris are problem solvers! Great skills, very knowledgeable plumbers and also all around good sense guys -- so the related work such as gas lines, electric outlets, basic construction -- its all in their pro-level service. I had a washer/dryer unit installed in the backyard that needed it all: hot/cold water line and natural gas brought to it, along with electric outlet and for the drain a sunken underground water pump. They knew which pump to buy and did it all with an excellent turnaround time and sense of humor. Most recently Mike replaced our old water heater at great price for new gas water heater and labor! I called CY for a sewer clog issue based on his yelp reviews. I didn't expect the owner, Chirs, to respond so quick. Within 40 min Chris, and two helpers were here at my house working on my issue. I was impressed witht the response, and the service was just as good. Chris was just as good at telling me what the problem was and keeping me abreast of what the resolution was. Chris and his crew finished my job in a couple hours diagnozed some other issues with my plumbing system, as well as instructed me on what I could do myself to resolve those issues. So on to Yelp I went; took down a couple numbers (personally, I'm a little wary of businesses that appear "perfect" with lots of reviews...I tend to go for those with a moderate number of good reviews or even those with only one or two reviews that stand out to me). Availability, knowledgeable, honesty/fair pricing; all of these characteristics were listed in the first review and they all turned out to be true for C.Y. Sewer and Drain Service. Availability-he answered his phone and was at my place within an hour. Knowledgeable-he explained what was wrong, fixed it, and told me how to prevent it. Honesty/Fair pricing-he initially quoted me higher over the phone, arrived, identified the problem, and lowered the charge immediately. We hired Chris and his buddy from Clemons Plumbing, Mike, to redo our sewer (mainline + some repairs underneath the house) and to re-pipe our house. (Found him on Yelp and he brought Mike along as the job required re-piping, which Chris doesn't do.) Chris has some knowledge of the sewers primarily concentrating on the snaking and cameras. He does have all of the necessary equipment. We were pretty desperate because our sewer was in disrepair and we had standing water, toilets wouldn't flush, etc. Mike and Chris seemed knowledgeable and quoted us a decent price. They were local, too. Chris tried to sell us on snaking first, but we knew that the sewer was old and needed replacing. As it turned out, the pipe was broken in 3 places. Chris didn't seem to do much work himself. And all of the work was done by Mike and some help people. The first day they re-did the mainline they were about 30 min later than expected. I was late to work. 2nd day when the re-piping began they were late 1 hour. I was late to work again. 3rd day they were late by about 3 hours and so on.... (By 3rd day I figured out the pattern, and we found a way for them to be in the house without them needing our presence. Considering that they had lots of different plumbers, friends come by our house while we weren't there, nothing seems to have gone missing.) At the end of the week they were MOSTLY done, but asked for a full payment promising that they would come back tomorrow (Sat) by 10 AM. And we were stupid enough to believe them. Of course, during the evening we discovered some unfinished details - such as lack of water pressure, dripping pipe underneath the sink, etc. No problem, they will come tomorrow by 10 AM. 12 PM following day - I get a call "hmm, can we come by Mon" Obviously not... Ok will be there in 30 min. 4 hours later and 20 angry phone calls, including threatening to cancel the check. They show up to finish up. It was apparent that Chris didn't know much about plumbing as he was uselessly pacing while Mike was getting everything done. Of course, they didn't get to finish everything.... So, they needed to come back the following week another time... Again they came back, but didn't finish everything... Our agreement was that they will patch up the holes they would make in the walls, and we are still waiting (3 weeks) for a huge hole underneath the kitchen sink to be patched up, which I sadly realize will never happen as we spent at least two Saturdays waiting for them in vain... and that's after repeated phone calls and assurance that they will make it here in the next hour. In short, it's not necessarily the quality of work, but complete lack of professionalism and hours of our time that was wasted by Chris and Mike that prompted me to give such low score. read more

A true life saver! I am not a person who spends time writing reviews. But for Chris, I can not thank him enough. Our plumbing was probably done during Jurassic age with cast iron drain pipe. Wish I knew earlier. When we suspect it is leaking underground, We called several plumber. Chris could able to tell exactly what need to be done and gave the most reasonable quote. There are not so many plumbers out there with diagnostic camera tool and charge probably nothing for it. We had to replace the pipe which is under concrete basement. To make our life easier, he and his crew worked whole weekend to get it done on time. My daughter had found Chris on Yelp when having drain problems in the past and has used him several times. So when our 10 year old Hot Water Heater started to drip the first person who came to mind was Chris as he is also a licensed Plumber. He came out to see what was needed to replace the Heater and decided to go pick up everything, removed the old one and installed the new and was gone in a couple of hours. These guys did a good job for me. I was panicking.... I had sewer water coming back up through the toilet and bathtub. They came and took their time. It felt that they were not rushing to get it done, which I appreciated. I could tell that they were doing their best to get the roots out of the pipes. I too had been ripped off by the people at Rescue Rooter their technicians are not knowledgeable and they try to sell you services that dont actually solve your drain problems. As Chris told me they want you to call again every couple of months snake out your pipes or sell you some extraordinarily expensive pipe replacement to get the most profit out of you. Heres the deal, Chris is interested in doing right the first time cause he doesnt want to waste his time or yours. Chris actually charges ALOT LESS than those Rescue Rooter people or any of the national companies and has way more know-how and experience than any of those guys ever will ( I think he's been doing this for 20 years, plumbing is his trade). Chris is a local independent business owner who will work his hardest to ensure that quality work is done the first time and at more than reasonable rates. I needed a plumber to clean out the drains in my house, so I found C.Y. Sewer and Drain Service on Yelp. My bathtub and kitchen sink were backing up and I called them on a Saturday. Chris, the owner, answered the phone after two rings. I told him what the problem was and he confirmed that I needed a drain clean out. He gave me a good quote and said he could be at my house in 20 minutes. Low and behold he was at my house in exactly 20 minutes. Chris began work right away. He accessed the roof and cleaned every drain in the house, including the kitchen, bath and toilet. In addition, he serviced the drains with degreaser. I was so impressed that I asked him to take a look at my running toilet. He quickly found the problem and thoroughly explained what it was. He fixed the chain, replaced the fill valve, angle stop and supply line and now my toilet runs great. So I showed him the problem I was having with my kitchen sink and he tightened my faucet and pipes, and cleaned it out. Now I have better water pressure and no leaks. Chris is very honest and he is very good at what he does. He told me what needed to be done, told me why, told me what he was going to do and did it. He explained everything he did and gave me helpful maintenance tips. The quote he gave me was the price he charged. No surpises here. I had a major blockage in my pipes. My downstairs toilets weren't flushing at all and all the waste would go back into the tubs/showers. I called Chris and Bill and they came within 30 minutes of my call. Chris and bill were really friendly as soon as I met them. When Chris started working on getting the drain out he was explaining how things work and what's causing the blockage. I can tell he was really knowledgeable about plumbing and drains. "I called Chris (owner) as I was very tired of those who come by the name of ????doctor or RESCUE DRAIN, Dr. Rooter ect. They charge you up front charge $$$ They all have a few weeks training and knows very little about sewerge system. They work for the name of the big company. and most of them are dishonest. After I had a very bad experience with one of those company, I determined to not hire those rip off people. I call Chris because my friend used him and she recommende. She is right. I had a plugged bathroom sink drain. In addition to that I'd damaged a thread on one of the p-trap pipes while trying to fix things myself.
