The bar itself is super nice! We missed the drag show (bummer), but everyone who caught it said it was a blast. Drinks were delicious and the bartenders were friendly. one of them even doubled as the MC and was hilarious. One thing I really appreciated was the self-serve water station. I drink a ton of water, and it's such a hassle trying to get the bartender's attention just for that, so this was a win for both guests and staff. Now... here are my two gripes: A bar that size with only one toilet in the women's restroom? Rough. The line got ridiculous. The music volume was insanely loud. I get it, it's a bar, loud music is expected. But this was next level. You couldn't even have a conversation without yelling, and several people in our group mentioned it, so I know it wasn't just me. Since this place isnt really close to home, I probably wont be back. Wednesdays are line dancing classes and they seem to always add new activities for different days of the week. Overall a good spot for a night out or afternoon fun.

My husband's grandparents live in Clayton and regularly attend the concerts; we can see why. The Grove has lots of shade and is in the middle of downtown Clayton, surrounded by some restaurants and stores. There's a large convenience store nearby, in case you need a few items or drinks to round out your picnic. The grass was well maintained. There's a path around the space, so that you don't have to worry about walking through people, like if a concert is happening. The bathrooms were reasonably clean with baby changing tables. And there wasn't a bad seat for the concert. Still, though, my husband's grandfather did head over to the park early to set up chairs and save our space. That didn't appear to follow the rules on the signs, but he was far from alone in doing this. All in all, this park and its musical programming were great for enjoying a beautiful summer evening.

I have recently seen both the Contra Costa Chamber Orchestra (performing with the San Ramon Valley Chorale) and ZZ Tush -- a ZZ Top tribute band. Both were excellent performances. On the menu one burger intrigued me - Kurobuta pork. I never had a pork burger before. The ingredients that sounded enticing were the spicy candied bacon and blueberry ketchup. I've had bacon on a regular burger before but not on pork burger. I also never had blueberry ketchup before. When eating dinner at a restaurant on a holiday you can expect a considerable time as the restaurant can be really busy. There were a lot of customers when my family entered Yard House. As we were waiting for our food there were empty tables. Since there were less customers we expected our food to arrive quicker. We estimated the wait for our food was about 45 minutes after our order. If you are waiting for a considerable time, the food better be exceptional. I enjoyed the Kurobuta pork burger. Having the bacon with the Kurobuta added more pork flavor. The blueberry ketchup provided a sweetness to balance the richness of the Kurobuta pork and bacon. I didn't like the house fries that came were the pork burger as they were soggy. I have two pet peeves when it comes to fried items: 1) overcooked chicken wings 2) soggy fries. The rest of my family had issues with their dishes. My mom stated there were not enough sirloin on her steak bowl she ordered. My dad said there were not enough grilled chicken from the fettucine alfredo. As mentioned before when your food arrives longer than you anticipate the attention will be if the item you order is great. What saved this rating from a 2-star experience was the Kurobuta pork burger.
