First time checking out Retro Junkie. This visit included the Coldplay cover-band Yellow. The drinks were a little weak, the sound had a little too much reverb, and the cover was a little too pricy. (If you pre-purchase tickets early you get a discount.) But we will definitely be back to see if this visit was the norm and check out another band.

If you're going to @retrojunky to watch a Mexican soccer match I wouldn't recommend asking the DJ to play La Chona. I politely asked a simple song request and the DJ became unnecessarily, rude and aggressive, put our hands on us and completely changed the atmosphere and made me feel uncomfortable. The game was great the crowd was fun and the drinks were good, but because of the experience, it will probably be my last time coming here. I also noticed the same DJ was there during salsa night. Terrible night, terrible dj

Looking for a cool spot on a Tuesday night? Retro Junkie is the place to be. I visited for the first time and can't wait to come back again when in the area. They have salsa lessons on Tuesdays, which was so fun! It's good for all dance levels. It only costed $10 for the lesson which was a hour long. The instructor was amazing and so kind with everyone. After the lesson, it's an open dance floor for several hours. It was a wide range of ages and dancers. The drinks were also good, just wished they had happy hour on Tuesdays. The bartender was super nice and made us great drinks!

Further update on my review the business owner Karen does not believe that the customer is always right. Based upon the footage that is on my camera you can clearly see that my friend got the okay to wear his hat inside your establishment. Instead we were kicked out and lost our $120 dollars. Please run your business better.

Ask the Community - Retro Junkie

    Dress code? Beanies hats allowed?

Casual 🤷🏻‍♀️ seen lots of different styles including hats and beanies.

Considering attending one of the shows, from the description one band plays outside in the beer garden while the other is inside? I prefer to be outside so trying to decide which band I'd see.

With the opening of the beer garden, on Fridays and Saturdays the outside band plays earlier and the inside band later. Technically 2 separate admissions.

    Typical age range of guests?

It can vary a bit depending on the night but 20s through 50s, it's a very welcoming place for all.

    Is there a cover charge?

No, unless they have some special event.

After the outdoor concert, is there a DJ playing music outside or just inside?

Generally only inside, but there is ambient music outside. Last year during warm months, there was an outdoor DJ as well.

Do you guys have a trivia night?

    They do, every Wednesday!

Its my Birthday on Friday I would love to bring my family with me to see the band play can I bring with my 19yr old son to watch the band? Vasco Road 80/90 cover already purchased the tickets as well

The venue should be for all ages due to they do not only serve alcohol they also serve food and I hope they have Root Beer and Non Alcoholic Drinks and a kids menu. Am I right?

Perhaps a stupid question here given my almost no experience in a bar...but are non-alcoholic cocktails available? I only saw their menu with like water and Red Bull and a non-alcoholic beer but I tend to favor fruity drinks.

They don't have a mocktail-specific menu but the bartenders are great, they can make any cocktail virgin by request.

Does anyone know what the VIP table includes during the concerts?

The VIP table packages are different depending on availability and location of table. Usually tables come w min bar tab spend, you own personal cocktail server, vip bands for you and your guests!

Is there a Salsa Dancing night?

    Tuesdays!

Are children allowed for the Sunday brunch days?

    My guess would be no

    Are dogs allowed outside seating?

Yes, the beer garden is a pet friendly area. Inside, we only allow service animals.

How old do you have to be to work here?

    21+

Hi, is this an 18 & over place or 21 & over?

Since its an environment where were serve alcohol, you must be 21+

What's the check in offer for? It says "one free buy one get one?"

Show your bartender the check-in or that you've checked in through yelp and They will give you a buy one get one beer make sure you Are with the bartender before you check in through yelp

    Is this 18+?

    I think 21+ but not 100% sure

    Is there a cover charge?

    After 8pm. It was $10

Are there seats available or is it just for bottle service? Any they near the band/ stage?

Plenty of seating outside of VIP and yes some are close to the stage.

Blue neon arches, a huge underwater mural, plush chairs and low tables along the back wall. Worth the detour. Chris was working the bar on his second day and greeted us like a regular. I skipped my usual Manhattan and went with the Smoke Break, bourbon with bitters, smoke and black cherry. He nailed it. That is the one I would order again. Kudos to Chris for making the smoke linger and make the drink taste fantastic. I had this one in Oregon and it was cool but Chris did a better job with his method that really did serious justice to the name. My wife wanted the Cucumber Cooler, but they were out of cucumber. She pivoted to Sauvignon Blanc, and they were out of that too. The wine list runs four whites and four reds, so there is not much room to maneuver if the cocktails are not your thing. Chris read the situation, offered up a Paper Airplane since she wanted something refreshing, and put it on the house. Classic good bartending. It was louder than expected for how few people were in the room. On a Saturday with a DJ, music and dancing, I would guess the volume gets close to a rave. Go Tuesday or Wednesday if you want to hear the person across from you, and you will probably catch them fully stocked. My guess is weekends clean them out. Cocktails run 16 to 18 dollars. There is also a 300 dollar tequila and cognac number called La Maria served in a glass rimmed with gold dust, if you have something to celebrate. Happy hour is Tuesday through Friday, 3 to 5. They are on the ground floor of the Waymark apartments at 121 Pringle Ave with a small patio out front and heaters. Great spot to hang out and talk with friends, and a good pre dinner or post dinner stop rather than a destination for the whole night. When those doors shut you are transported somewhere neat. I would go again.

We started with the chips and salsa, and they were a great way to kick things off. The chips tasted fresh and were perfectly crispy. Both the red and green salsas had really good flavor without being overly spicy. We also ordered spicy margaritas, and the bartender definitely knew what they were doing. The drinks were well-balanced with just the right amount of heat. For our entrees, we ordered the burrito, carne plate, enchiladas, and the bee salad. The standout was definitely the carne--it was incredibly tender and practically melted in your mouth. It was cooked perfectly. The burrito was absolutely massive and packed with flavor, while the enchiladas tasted homemade and were comforting and delicious. Everyone at the table left happy. Overall, it was a great dining experience with delicious food, excellent drinks, and attentive service despite how busy they were. For a party of two, we ordered four drinks, two appetizers, and one salad, with the final tab coming to approximately $170. At that price point, I expect a noticeably stronger food experience, and unfortunately, this meal did not deliver. The service was a bright spot. The waitstaff was polite, professional, and attentive throughout the evening. Unfortunately, the food was where the experience fell short. The cauliflower and spicy tuna appetizers both had acceptable presentation, but the flavors and execution were disappointing. The ingredients did not seem particularly well balanced, and both dishes felt like they needed the chef to revisit the seasoning, composition, and overall preparation. Neither appetizer left an impression worth repeating. The Asian chicken salad had potential, but the quality and freshness of the ingredients kept it from standing out. A salad built around fresh, crisp ingredients should feel vibrant, yet this one came across as somewhat tired and lacking the freshness I would expect. Another point worth mentioning is the 20% gratuity that was automatically added to the bill. While I understand that some restaurants have automatic gratuity policies, it was unexpected for a party of two and felt somewhat excessive given the overall dining experience. I would have preferred that the policy be clearly communicated upfront. I typically include photos with my reviews, but the only photo I took on this visit was of the receipt, which probably says enough about how memorable the food was. Overall: The service was professional, but the food did not justify the approximately $170 price tag for two. There are plenty of restaurants where I would expect a more memorable and thoughtfully executed meal at this price point.
