so what do you say about a company with talented plumbers, great dispatcher and ok,,,,i need to stop there, don't want to inflate egos. the people i had come to my house were the best plumbers i have ever met. not only the talent in finding and fixing but also their personality, really good. now let us look at what hurts. naturally its money, its always cash. first the following method of billing is not only from this company but others have the same billing method that customers should be aware of. 1 service call-- ok so in reality if the plumber just finds a quick no work solution to a problem, for instance setting a thermostat, opening a valve, or whatever simple, fine but no labor charge should be listed. you have to get paid for at least the trip and time. 2 labor--- here we go, the labor charge should be reasonable, sometimes it is, but what they do (and so do others) is keep the service call charge and charge both to you. now that sucks. totally unfair and a shot to the customer. at least oh great guru mr caballero you could dismiss the service call charge. you got the job why double up ? or like others do, absorb it. i am not telling you how to run a business, you have a great business which is much appreciated by people like me. i still gave you 5 stars even though i am not happy with your billing, never mind i'm taking one star away. to others reading this, you have to ask is the price worth it? in my opinion it is because of the mechanics and staff working there, one better than the other, (they have a reputation of a car dealer 'too expensive'.) so if you are in trouble this is the place. read more

Getting ready to list our home for sale, when I noticed a rust stain on the flooring under the Pressure Regulating Valve. Not quite leaking, but it felt wet to the touch. Timing couldn't have been worse ; I was not looking forward to finding $500. for this unforeseen development. Contacted a friend for the name of a plumber; she gave us Caballero & Sons. Called that day; John arrived a few hours later! John was professional, explained that the 34 yr old valve needed to be replaced, but had to be ordered. 2 days later the valve came in. John arrived, put the new valve in! This company charges $75. to walk in the door; $180. per hour. The total for the replacement was $470., includes tax. Thanks to Caballero, I can sleep tonight and not worry about the house flooding! You can't put a price on peace of mind! read more

Had a energy inspection from NJ Gas, and the inspector detected a gas leak in my basement, forcing a shut off of gas to my house, producing no heat or hot water until it was repaired. Called Caballero at 12:30 and spoke to a very professional and informed dispatcher who told me he would out me on the emergency repair list. Guys came at 3:15 and finished at 4. Dominick and Rich mapped out three alternative repair scenarios and with cutting and connecting a new gas pipe, were finished with the cheaper and most efficient repair in 35 minutes. These guys were very friendly, professional and talked to you like human beings. Charge was for the flat repair call, materials and time spent, which amounted to $183. This company is the best and it will be my "go to" plumber forever. read more

I have never felt so taken advantage of. I called this company to come out and assess two leaky shower heads and a weak flushing toilet. They told me I had to go buy the replacement heads on my own and nothing could be done for the toilet. They did nothing, were here less than a half hour and charged me $170. $70 for a service call and $100 for the half hour of "labor". I would have been fine with the service call fee but not the half hour of labor - ridiculous!! I called to question/complain and they didn't care and stood by their practices. Told me other companies would have charged me $260 for an hour of service for the same experience so I should feel lucky. I can't make this up. First and last time using them. I had some work done in my home several months ago. When I was paying the bill, I handed the plumber my Manalapan 1st card. The bill was for almost $300. A certain percentage of this bill is to come back to the customer (in this case, me) in the form of a discount on our property taxes. It was not included in my taxes. I called them and I was told that because I paid with a credit card, I was not entitled to get this applied to my taxes. I then asked why I wasn't informed of that at the time of payment and the answer he gave me was that "he probably didn't know". I suggested that he tell his employees about it in the future. He said "o.k.". That was it. No offer to make things even partially right. Honestly, this is the first time Caballaro has ever disappointed me, but I can assure you that it is the last. I don't blame their employees, but I do hold the company to higher standards than this. I am positive that there are other plumbing services that are just as good and I will use one of them in the future. read more

The entire staff including owners Mike and John are knowledgeable, courteous, customer focused and professional. We recently had an issue with our tub drain and the technician suggested replacing with a pop-up design that works much better. I've been using these guys for years and they've always done good work. And their prices were historically very competitive. Lately, however, they've gotten out of control with their prices. Most recently, I had them over to unclog a shower drain. So that was a $70 "trip charge" + 180/hr. labor (with a half hour minimum despite also having the duplicative trip charge). The final insult was the "snaking" fee which they charged to actually unclog the drain! That's like a carpenter charging extra for using a hammer. All in all, the bill came to more than $200 for a 10 minute job. They have now lost me as a customer. read more

Had Caballero & Sons at my house on 3/20 for a house drain backup that was causing water to come back into my basement. After listening to my problem for 15 minutes, the plumber told me he wont be able to do anything to fix it and most likely a whole new line would need to be run out to the basin (across my entire yard). He told me the owner would need to come out and give me an estimate. He also charged me about $65 for coming out to my house to tell me he cant do anything. The owner was scheduled to come by on Saturday, March 28th. Spent half my Saturday waiting. To add insult to injury, no one showed up or called. The problem was eventually fixed by Roto Rooter who manually snaked the PVC pipe and elbow that led outside. No need to run new pipe across the yard. I refuse to chase people down to give them my money. It took $65 but it was a lesson well learned. Call someone else. read more

I have used this outfit several times in recent years for small and medium size jobs. I don't know how they are for big jobs. They show up when they say they will. The work gets done properly, and if there is a problem, they make it right. I don't feel that they try anything devious. They are polite and pleasant to deal with. Hired these guys for a permit issue with town. They were ok with the initial repair or code compliance issue with the town for my water heater. They originally quoted me a fee of $400.00 which was supposed to include the permit fee. Ok great...get it in writing. Because they sent me a bill for the fee even though I had already paid it. They owe me $66 bucks . They were also supposed to include on the same permit a spa tub in my master bath that was looked at...now they know I am under the gun with the township to get this done quick....1 week later, I find out they did not add the spa to the permit...after several calls and them promising to resubmit proper paperwork and a call from my agent who recommended them they finally put the paperwork in...but held me hostage for a $250.00 fee w/out permit fee. We called them during normal day time hours, but over the weekend. I was told plumbers always respond on weekends, since this is when things most often happen and people need their help, not when people are at work. Nobody picked up the phone! We are local to Freehold/Manalapan area and knowing that your local plumber will be there for you was important in the past. I think concept of local plumber is not really working. Local plumber is overpriced, spoiled and does not value the customer. We have seen another local plumber (aka "family friend") came over recently and quickly charged us double price for replacing a kitchen faucet. I could probably buy a used car for the price of his visit. This was a lesson learned. We just called Doctor Rooter and they immediately responded and gave us 1 hr estimate. Plumber came as promised and was very nice. We will be replacing the broken pump and will probably do few more things. Overall, our first experience with Doctor Rooter is good and we will be relying on them going forward, trying to avoid local neighborhood plumbers, mainly for reliability, high pricing and low availability. read more

Yet, he asked me to sign his papers that indicate "the job is complete to my satisfaction"...and pay $213.00. I'm about to sue this company. I had a leak in my my upstairs bathroom that dripped through my downstairs kitchen high hat lights. Called Caballero & Sons and was told they were booked solid, but would try and fit me in. A half hour later we received a call that someone would be here in 10 minutes. It turns out the valves on the sink were leaking. The tech was fast, efficient and courteous. 45 minutes later the job was complete. The price was amazing. It was only $207.70 which included parts. What a steal for what was done. Used Caballero and sons for a service call today and couldn't be happier. From the first contact everyone was very courteous and helpful. The service fee as of the time of this review is 59.00 plus 75.00 per half hour and parts. I called around 0845 and even though I didn't have an appointment I had someone at my house by 0930. The service did a fantastic job in a very timely fashion. The fee was very fair, 59.00 service fee plus (1/2 hour labor) to cut off an old elbow and put in a new elbow utilizing a coupler and install and hook up a new P trap. The charge for the parts used to complete the job were also very fair and comparable to what one would pay at a hardware store. I am very satisfied with Caballero and sons and will use them again for any of my plumbing needs and I can recommend them with good conscience to anyone in need of plumbing services. read more

If I could give more stars I would. Called at 930am and had a brand new installed water heater by 330pm. Price came out cheaper than what they estimated. The plumbers that came were courteous and explained everything in detail. They covered the entire area with runners including the steps (water heater is on the second floor). They came in removed the old and installed the new in 2 hours and kept everything clean and neat. The plumbers that came were super professional and friendly. I had an appointment t 3pm with Caballeros and Sons. At 3:10 I called just to make sure they hadn't forgotten about me. No problem. The woman who answered said she could see the driver was 8 minutes away. Over 20 minutes later, I called and asked if they needed directions, and was told he was at another job and I was next. Granted it was a rainy Friday with a lot of traffic. But the driver didn't come until two hours later. What bothered me is that no one ever called me to let me know, I had to call each time to see what was up. When I called, no one was apologetic about the wait time or the incorrect info I had gotten. About the price- when I was shopping around for prices to get my heater checked out, I was first told it was a free estimate and no charge if nothing was wrong. Hours later, I thought that was weird, so I called back to check, and now I was told it would cost me 79.00 for the service call. After they came, they called me to come pick up the paperwork and said to bring 187 dollars! I told them my story and a manager called me back. He gave me no break. He prefered to just let me start over with a different company and to throw out my paperwork. Again NO kindness or apology for staff telling me three different things. I never showed my anger. I just yelped instead. Look elsewhere. Try Liberty Air in Jackson. Excellent people and service. read more
