WARNING: make sure work is completely done before full payment is given. This guy knew my mom some how and we used him for cutting down a large tree in my backyard. Initially he quoted $2500 for the videos we sent. When he showed up, he said $4500 and gave me a very hard time haggling him down to $3500 with including trimming two other small trees and shaving down the stump of the big tree. Still felt like I was being got. He started that day and did a ton on day one. Day 2 I was out of town so my mom stopped over at my house. She walked up to a bobcat on my front lawn with a very young child sitting inside laughing. She then started walking to the back to tell Chris that's not okay when she ran into another toddler with no shoes running around the two chain saws on the ground in the yard. In the back, I guess there were family members hanging out with them eating, a wife and grandma. My mom sat down and all the family members left. When using my neighbors property to remove tree pieces, he did not ask permission when digging up their flowers and hostas to make way for themselves. After cutting down the tree, he left the stump unshaved and told us that he did not include that in the price. Chris and I specifically talked about the stump being included, but he denies. He also left 7 enormous, immovable chunks of the tree on my front lawn for 5 days, doing a lot of damage to my grass. Someone finally came to pick them up today After repeatedly calling the past few days with no answers and no responses from anyone. We had to beg him to come get the trunks. This service was unprofessional and regrettable. Find someone more reliable and trustworthy. read more

Cabanas Tree Service was taking care of a branch for a neighbor and I asked him to give me a quote for some tree trimming and other work in my yard. He gave me a quote of $750 and then proceeded to have some of his workers do the smaller portion of the work which included removing some lower hanging very small branches on a couple of trees. I had also asked him to pull in some of the branches on my arborvitae which I assumed he could do better than I could. He proceeded to quickly take twine and just rope all the branches in. The major part of the work he said he would come back to do after he took my check for $750. He never came back even though I called him several times and I ended up taking all the twine rope off and doing the work myself on the arborvitae. I had to eventually call another company to do the major work. Definitely a scammer. read more

I called Chris from Cabanas Tree Service based on Solitaire and Linda's reviews to trim our large maple tree in the front yard and to trim my father-in-law's maple tree too, who lived next door. As stated by the ladies, Chris was very reasonably priced, seemed to be knowledgeable, fair and honest and was insured too, so we hired him. I had asked him to come out at a certain time on a Monday due to a scheduling conflict that my father-in-law had, but he arrived 2 hours earlier. I think we misunderstood each other. So his crew worked on my tree 1st and while they had to wait to do the other tree, I asked if they could trim my shrubs too. They did a wonderful job on both trees and ended up trimming the shrubs next door too! His crew was very polite and cleaned up the yard very nicely. I would definately hire him again and would highly commend Chris to others. Not only does he trim trees and shrubs, but he does landscaping too for a very reasonable price. Although, I would not use the phone number listed for his office 847-221-2163. It is an old number, which no longer belongs to him and needs to be changed on Yelp. I contacted a few tree services from Yelp and Cabanas got right back to me within an hour. I needed to have two trees removed and the stumps ground. In addition we needed a few trees pruned on our property. Christian walk with me around the property and let me know what he thought would be the best plan of action. His quote came in quite reasonable and fair. They came out two days later and did a fantastic job. All of his crew were very competent and respectful. They left our yard clean and did a great job. We had a tree emergency today. Old oak had damaged roots from repaving driveway more than a year ago. It looked healthy but apparently had rotted roots. With no warning, it fell and was caught from crushing a car by another large tree. Called 4 tree services. Not only was Chris the first to answer, he rearranged his schedule to deal with our emergency. The job was finished at at an affordable price, before the other 3 providers called us back! Based on Linda K's review, I hired Chris for firewood and to take a look at my trees as well. He was reliable--came to my house with the delivery, on time as promised, and was a great deal to boot! I was completely confident that he was an honest, knowledgable and hardworking individual. I would definitely recommend (as a matter of fact I did and another neighbor also purchased a load of wood from him and was very pleased) and would use him again. I also had him take a look at my trees and provide me with an estimate. He was clearly very well-informed and educated (he is a certified arborist) and he obviously cared that I was happy with the work they did. He explained everything up front, and walked me through it all afterwards. No hidden charges (he actually did MORE than what he'd promised in the estimate). I would definitely recommend. P.S. I had hired another service (Beaver Tree) who came out and provided an estimate at the end of October and promised time and time again to come and do the work. BEST tree service in the area!! I will never use another company! I called for a couple estimates and he came in $1,200 less than my first quote for the exact same job! I was nervous because I'm a firm believer in you get what you pay for but he proved to me that he can do an amazing job and still keep his prices low! Because of their excellent work, we are now going to hire him for more jobs around the yard. We had a ton of work done and they were fast, efficient, clean, and very professional. Chris the owner is great and I could tell he's an expert in this field. They did such a great job, my neighbor hired them to do their yard and paving a porch. They seem to do more than just tree services...I'm having him come back to do drainage pipes and paving as well. After several quotes and estimates, Cabanas Tree Service had the absolute best prices. A very picky relative had used Cabanas before and had nothing but great things to say about their service and results. After receiving our estimate on service, Christian and his crew were out two days later to complete the services. Even though it was raining, they still completed all of the work with in a very short time frame. They grinded a stump, removed several thorn bushes, a dead tree, removed old broken lighting and removed additional bushes. Before they were finished, they made sure to clean up the area nice and neat. Chris was extremely flexible, personable, polite and knowledgeable, giving advice on upkeep and additional landscape maintenance. They have always done a GREAT job for us. They took down one of the biggest mulberry trees that was right next to our house (3 other tree companies wouldn't touch it and one other wanted to bring in a crane and then finally called back and said he wouldn't touch the job). Christian and his crew meticulously dismantled the tree and there wasn't a scratch on the house or deck plus he had the best bid of the bunch. He then took down a huge willow that had dropped a limb and crushed my shed. This was also a huge tree and done at a very reasonable price. The just last week a neighbor's tree feel towards our yard and was hung up on a smaller tree and the crown was in one of our trees. Chris was at our house within a half hour assessing the situation and came out first thing in the morning to diffuse this dangerous situation. They then trimmed back the crowns of the neighbor's other dying trees that hung over our property to eliminate potential widow makers and trim up our large maple that needed thinning for under $1000. As an Arborist he also recommended feeding some of our other trees and bushes that looked a little stressed out. Kept making excuses that equipment is broken ( if it was would have messed up the job) and never showed up at promised time. Seems unreliable and lost our trust and business. I called Cabanas Tree Service based on generally good reviews on Yelp. Chris gave me a very competitive quote for removing 5 large trees, several smaller ones, hedge trimming and a significant hedge pruning. His crew did a good job on the tree removal. We agreed to leave the major hedge pruning work till fall on his suggestion in order to protect the plants. He missed two promised return dates to complete the work and complete a stump/root removal as promised. He now won't answer my phone calls. As noted by other reviews, Chris presents as a very friendly (honest?) guy therefore I was lulled into believing he would return to complete the work. I made the mistake of paying him in full and tipped his crew. It appears Chris is less interested in honoring his commitments once he has your money. read more

sign a contract to do multiple stuff for $3200, paid most of the money before work, the work was done completely but yet end up paying for everything. been 4 months now, and every other day I call, only given excuses everytime, this week or that week, coming today, or tomorrow morning. just my advise, not to pay till you are 100% satisfied or you will be chasing after these guys, I would call someone else to get the stuff done. All you will get from these guys are promises. since they didnt come, I ended up paying someone else 800 dollars to redo what they messed up, and get her done, so now I wont be calling them anymore, nor I recommends NEGATIVE STAR if I had an option, this is my honest opinion. read more

I observed Chris and his crew during two different visits to my neighbor last year - one for tree trimming and one for tree removal. In both cases, they had to be careful not to injure the extensive (and expensive) specialty landscape plantings. They so impressed me with their care and diligence that I asked for a bid to limb up a 90 year old, ivy-strangled elm, located in a difficult-to-access area between my garage, a neighbor's garage, and a privacy fence. Chris' bid was the LOWEST, but the work he and his crew did was of the HIGHEST QUALITY! Before starting work, Chris re-verified, in detail, what I wanted, made suggestions or revisions based on his knowledge as an arborist, and consulted me as they worked to be sure that I was satisfied. He introduced himself to my neighbor, and had a very friendly, open demeanor at all times. His crew was polite and hardworking. The way they maneuvered the huge limbs to the ground, without damaging my fence or anything in either yard, was amazing! At completion, they cleaned up all the tree litter on the ground, and on both garage roofs, too! While up there, Chris blew the leaf-litter out of my garage gutters - GRATIS! After explaining that the ivy retained moisture on the elm tree's bark, which was bad for the tree, Chris and the guys helped me strip the ivy from the tree, at no extra charge! (I never could have done it without them, as the ivy had grown into the crown of the tree.) I've already recommended them to a friend of mine, and would give them 10 STARS if I could!
