Yup, the hits just keep on coming!! After years of doing my own pea gravel bed in a section at the back of our property, we took the plunge and hired the professionals, and Gabriel and his wonderful crew did not disappoint!! The work was done quickly, efficiently, and carefully, with zero harm to my backyard grass!! The pea gravel bed is generously deep, we had several bamboo plants added, and we're enjoying our backyard like never before. We've used Gabriels services for decades & never had a problem with anything. Tree trimming, brick walks, yard cleanup & never a problem with the old man, (Gabriel senior). Good luck getting a call back from Gabriel Jr. if you have a problem! I had them take out a sidewalk, fill in a hole where there was a pond in the back yard & a couple of other low spots. The dirt they put in was full of rock & chunks of concrete. I filled up a 5-gallon bucket with the stuff. I called several times & was told we'll be there next week, weeks apart... Bottom line, no one showed up & I had to buy in excess of $200.00 worth of topsoil & grass seed & spread it myself to get the lawn restarted. First time I've been disappointed by this company, but this was a Biggy! read more

This year I had them put all the weeds in my flower beds and take out some trees and shrubs that were weeds themselves. What a beautiful job! My yard looks like a botanical garden. Very hard workers! They only stopped for lunch for 1/2 hour each day. Very friendly and cooperative in answering questions I had for them. Clearly, they are skilled workers, especially the man that scaled the trees to trim the branches. They did an excellent job on the gutter cleaning, and even took pictures of the gutters and the roof to show me how clean they were after the work was done. They did a very thorough job of cleaning up after themselves, leaving the grounds cleaner than they were before they started their work. We will definitely use them again on our grounds at St. Paul's Church in Palatine. read more

I was a long time customer for lawn service and decided to have Gabriel install a paver patio for me During the project they were very messy me and my wife attempted to clean concrete off of my windows and brick . Gabriel senior also strong armed me for additional money as he felt the job was harder then he expected. Well not even a year later it looked 10 years old an just a few years after install the brick stairs have all come apart and I've had several people fall I've asked them to come out several times and get no response and have given up but would hate for someone else to spend there hard earned money on services that don't stand up read more

We needed to have some tree trimming done. We also that one large limb needed to be taken down. Romeo Marquez responded to our inquiry within a day. He came by and was very knowledgeable about trees and how to take care of them. He told us we did not need to take down a large limb and just told us what we needed to do to keep the tree healthy. In fact, Gabriel handles communication with his customers personally. Gabriel's crew removed a 65 foot white pine tree from my backyard and ground the remaining stump. They did an excellent/safe job with the tree and even came back to grind the stump lower so I could replant in the spot this fall. Gabriel's crew plowed my driveway and shoveled sidewalks. They were always there when expected. The plow damaged the grass running along side of driveway and the crew came out in the spring and replanted grass seed with a hay covering. Looks great! Gabriel's crew brought my backyard lawn back to life by bringing in topsoil, tearing up old tree roots, grading the yard with new topsoil, and seeding with hay cover. Gabriel and his crew came out to replace my neighbors dead Arborvitae with a new one. The tree was right on the lot line between our properties. While grinding out the old stump, they crushed a drain line that ran close to the trees creating a new unwanted pool of water in my yard (see the picture that I've posted). I contacted Gabriel about the problem and he came out promptly to investigate. He told me that he would send out a couple of guys for a couple of hours to repair the drain. That was the last I heard from Gabriel - he lied and never followed through with the repair. I would avoid Gabriel, there are many more landscape companies out there that are far more reputable than him. read more

We and our neighbor had significant drainage problems in our backyards. We decided to work together on a solution and met with 4 landscaping companies that offered drainage services. We choose Gabriel Landscaping for reasons including his experience, references, his patience explaining all aspects of the job, and the fact he promptly responded to phone calls and emails (something we did not experience with some of the others). It was a major job. It included a long drainage pipe between our homes, separate drainage pipes connecting into it from our backyards, connections from our downspouts and sump pump, and then a connection into a city sewer. Additionally, there was some regrading of the backyard, re-sodding over it, and a tree replacement. The end result was we were totally satisfied with job. Gabriel was on-site often to check on the progress and we were impressed at how hard his crew worked on all phases of the job. Another positive was Gabriel came by during a huge rainfall to look at the result. He returned later with his crew to make a few adjustments to improve the flow. I had Gabriel's Landscape come out and complete landscape work. I have a row of bushes between 2 houses and I specifically wanted the row cut to 18 inches. This row has been trimmed before and that made them look great as they re bloomed and refreshed in the Spring. He would not cut them as I asked and had a man stand in the middle of them and cut from inside out and left at 3 foot height. As the growing season has progressed the row of bushes has looked truly dreadful. They were not cut back to fresh wood so they are full of bare spots, growing lopsidedly and really, really look horrible. They are in the front of the house and are terribly unsightly. I asked them to come and trim the bushes to what I asked for in the first place. No, no no he said. Warning: They refuse to come back and fix what they did poorly and against my wishes - even when I disagreed with appearance while cutting, while they were still on my property. Never ever pay them until every piece of debris is removed, every bush or tree is cut exactly how you know it should look. Itemize in writing every single item. Never ever pay until perfect as you see the needs of your property-not as he sees it. Hold your ground and money until their work is correct. I will be repaying in the Fall to redo what was not done correctly. read more

My mom just got her whole yard done and it is the best on the block. Gabriel himself is a SWEET HEART. Gabriel's tree service came today to trim some large overhanging branches on 5 trees in my backyard. His crew arrived and got everything ready and then he came to verify with my husband exactly what was going to be cut. They did an excellent job and it was amazing to see how they maneuvered these big limbs with ropes so they did not fall on the neighbors property and avoided the shed and fence and bushes (lots of obstacles)! When they were done not only did they rake our lawn but also the neighbors to get the sticks that ended up there. Gabriel checked in with me to make sure everything was to my satisfaction. I am not (yet) a customer but I wanted to comment on the kindness of Gabriel's men. Two weeks ago I was trimming trees in my yard with a chainsaw on a pole rented from home depot. The saw got stuck in the tree. Gabriel's employees were afar off and saw me. I called out to them for help and they came and helped me and even trimmed the tree without asking for any money! I called and spoke to Gabriel, the owner, who gave me a date/time which would be a week later to come to my home and give me a quote on work needed. I stayed home to meet with him. He never showed up, even after I called and left a voice message. He didn't return my call so I called another tree service who came to my home that same day, gave me a quote, and they will be doing the work.
