We have been loyal fans of Cilantros since the first week they opened many years ago! Over all these years the team/family has maintained the high quality and delicious food we look forward to year after year. During our annual week at RB, we also stop by Cilantros at least twice. The first visit is within 30 minutes of arrival to sit at the bar, chat with Frank, and enjoy the best ceviche around! The Casamigos Margaritas Frank is making behind the bar are the best in RB. Over the years we have sampled most of the items on the menu and have never been disappointed. The flavors are always delicious and portions a good size. Walking in- Walking in I got an amazing Mexican vibe that carried throughout my whole time here. Service- Our server didn't speak English very well, but all the food and drinks came in good time. Lemonade- The lemonade was definitely freshly squeezed, not the best I've had but still really good with a nice balance of sweet and lemon. Meal- Let me just start off by saying everything was super fresh. The Pizza Mexicana was delicious, all the components (guacamole, beans, cheese, etc.) were delicious together, but it fell apart quickly and I had to use my fork and knife. The corn was amazing, the way it was cooked and the cheese made for an excellent dish. We always have delicious food and drinks at cilantro. Our waiter last night told us it was his first day (on a Saturday night!) and he did a great job. Delicious tacos and healthy taco salads as well. We enjoyed margaritas, mojitos, and caipirinhas. They don't have anything posted but I asked about happy hour which they do run from 3-6 Sun-Fri. We were in town for my birthday and once checked into our hotel, stopped in for a mid-afternoon drink. Madelein welcomed us immediately and made us feel at home at the bar. She served up the BEST margarita we've ever had. I chose the Jalapeño margarita, and my husband chose the Señora. Oh my, perfectly concocted! We also snacked on guacamole, chips, and salsa, all of which were fresh and delicious. We loved this place so much, we went back again a few days later for margaritas while out shopping. Their name should be Cocina de Mexico Para Gringos based on the blandness of their food! I'll only discuss the entrees my family members or I have eaten. Steak fajitas arrive sizzling, with rice, fried onions, refried beans and guacamole. The dish looks good, and is made to order. Burrito macho (steak) is good and seems to be prepared to order based on low anticipated sales (chicken is much more popular). Burrito placero (chicken) definitely seemed prepared in advance and microwaved. The chicken was rubbery and tasteless. Avoid this dish. Chuletas al chipotle (grilled pork chops) are tasty, but I'm amazed at how they create 1/2" thick pork chops -- you'll leave still hungry. Pechuga Estofada (stuffed chicken breast) which I've had a few times, is variable. Sometimes it's good (if bland), sometimes it seems pre-made or assembled haphazardly. A roll of the dice. The service is usually good, the staff is friendly and professional. We had one not great experience with a waiter who didn't speak or understand English at all. The ambience is good, Mexican background music is pleasant and not too loud, there is plenty of room and the place is airy due to the open front and open garage door on the side. My family decided on Mexican food so we dined in since it was a short walk from our hotel. We arrived around 5:30 and were immediately greeted; which was nice because I thought we beat the rush. We chose to dine inside so we wouldn't be in the heat or sun. We were seated in the inside but right at the open garage door, not much of a dine in experience. After getting our table, 4 other groups came in and were seated around us. Although we arrived first, we were the last to be waited on. Once we got our drink order, the waitress noticed a speck in the sprite. She took it back and got a drink. I happened to notice my glass of water and that too had black flakes of some sort floating at the bottom. I should've walked out when the drinks were dirty. The first basket of chips and salsa are supposed to be complimentary, we didn't get any chips until the quesito came out. We requested a beef quesadilla but got chicken instead. There about 6 or 7 flies buzzing around our table the entire time. Nothing worse having to wave your hand over your meal so flies don't land in it. I've been here in the past but this was by far the worst experience. I regret leaving a tip but I'm not that type of customer. I will not be coming back. First when we entered, the waitress asked us to put on a shirt. Many people on the street were not wearing a shirt, nor shorts; however, we were wearing shorts with our bathing suit. We were totally okay with wearing our shirts, but it was irritating when there were multiple other people in the restaurant wearing just their bikini top. The same waitress who served us and asked us to wear a shirt served them and had no issue with their clothing. Regardless, the food didn't make up for it either. I ordered tacos al pastor and it was as dry and lacked flavor. It came with rice and beans, however the flavor and texture was not capable of being fixed. My sister ordered these hard shell tortillas with chicken and toppings on top. That was good. It had flavor, seasonings, and a beautiful presentation- which is why this is a two star rating. Very good Mexican restaurant - better than anticipated! I went with my husband, 3 year old, and 5 year old around 6 pm on a Monday in August. Our waiter, Antonio, was full of energy and suggestions. We started with the chips, salsa and guacamole, which were good. I got a martini and my husband got a beer, also good. Ordered chicken fingers, fries and a side of beans for the kids. For entrees, my husband got the tacos al pastor and I got the Camarones al Cilantro appetizer and the octopus appetizer special. My appetizers/entrees were delicious! Had the Chile Rellen Adelita and Pechuga Estofada - neither tasted fresh or came close to the description on the menu. Chicken was not stuffed but simply two thin slices of breast (?) on top of each other and some cheese on top. The Chile Rellen was filled with what appeared to be bacon cut into small cubes. The Rellen had good flavor, but just seemed to have been made a day prior then heated when ordered. Also, pet peeve - they charged $2 for some hot sauce. Bill was ~$100 plus tip. I got the catch of the day without rice and salad. It was a massive filet of fresh and delicious white fish. I can't recall the name. My wife ordered three pork tacos that also came with rice and then a side of black beans with that Mexican mozzarella cheese that I'm having a difficult time remembering the name.
