I was in dire need to kill some time before my street hockey game in the West End Kroger parking lot, so I stopped at Cabela's near the horrid, maniac-filled South Ridge shopping center. At first, I had high hopes, but as soon as I pulled in, my pupils were confused by the parking lot's green stop signs. Every single stop I've ever seen elsewhere is the same color as my head after putting Rectal Rocket Fuel hot sauce on my crisps, so I didn't even stop. Green means go away! After that confusing ordeal, I walked inside and was greeted by a respectful young lad who was desperate for me to sign up for the store's rewards program. The gentlemen behind me budged at least, so the employee got his commission for the day. The GM won't be seeing my email on the monthly sign-ups report that he'll probably send to the regional fatcat. This slice of my pie is mine. Everything here is so expensive. The one walleye in the fish tank told me he doesn't even get an employee discount on the live bait. To make matters worse, I couldn't find a hockey stick for the game later either. They have a nice selection of Rugers in the Gun Library, though. I didn't buy anything, so I took a leak at the loo, admired the nice variety of outdoor cooking equipment and kayaks, and left. I'll be back when Planet Fitness turns back into Toys R Us. read more

Cabela's for the win. My son is 15 years-old and when I saw the littles lining up to get their pictures taken with Santa, it reminded me of when mine was that tiny, too. I snuck over and asked the ladies if it was okay if my teen could get his picture taken, too. They were so kind. They told me people of all ages 0 to 70+ get their pictures with Santa. They have a lot of adults. It took some convincing, but I told my son this would be the best present ever. It was great. The packages were reasonable. The girls said I could take as many pictures and videos that I want. Santa was a real sport about it. The pictures turned out better than I ever imagined. You get a free 4x6 even if you don't buy a package. They took multiple poses of my son, so I bought a package for one pose and got freebies of the others. They also send you holiday videos with each pose for free. Hands down, this was the best place we'd ever went to for Santa pics. We went yesterday around 1 after my son's orthopedic surgeon appt (he plays football for Riverside and got injured this year). There was virtually no crowd at this time. Highly recommend! read more

A very large shop at the top of the hill with everything you could need to spend time outdoors in comfort. Warm clothes, tents, sleeping bags, fishing equipment and even canoes and kayaks. And yes, a massive selection of long rifles and handguns. Everyone with whom I interacted was especially friendly and helpful. Prices are towards the higher end of the chart, but this is good quality. read more

OMG Cabela's. I thought R++ was bad CS, but this place. I Made my first visit to the store, found a little item i wanted, at register, it didn't have the tag. 3 agents, my walking back and forth 3 times, and then, still did not have correct item. I contacted website customer service, blah blah blah nothing done. Still, though, they are supposed to have a price match guarantee and 90 days return policy. I'm checking out a pair of shoes; the manufacturer has them for less. Calling CS/sales for price match, they first said they don't price match the manufacturer (nothing says this on their website); they then were using an outdated browser to find the product online and, ahem, "couldn't see it". I got transferred to another CS rep, not sales, who started to say something about "the manufacturer isn't on the approved price match list." Say Wha??? Nothing about this is on their website. Agent finally agreed to match what I said, and wasn't too pleasant about it. Absolutely the second worst sales experience in this field (next to the other). No reason to shop further here. read more

Great store to get what you need for the outdoors. This is not the biggest store but it has enough in it to get something close to what your looking for. I usually bingo the Hamburgh store which is there largest store and the closest one to my house. They have a large selection of every category there like fishing, hunting, shooting, camping, boating, hiking, clothing, etc. I like going sometimes even when I don't need anything just to check the place out. read more

This review is focused on only one aspect of Cabela's, the 'Bargain Cave'. I bought a really nice jackknife there, trademarked 'Silver Stag', for a surprisingly low price. Unfortunately, the lockback feature soon started giving me trouble and finally stopped working. Taking the knife apart, I found the lockback 'lever' had snapped in two. I figure that there was a problem with the tempering of the metal. This defective knife, guaranteed to fail, should never have been offered for sale. So, a word of warning about the 'Bargain Cave', it may not be such a good bargain. read more

I've used it 3 times now and they never fill the full order. Last time I ordered ammo knew it'd be a long wait. Got an email it arrived warehouse "looked" for it and said it wasn't there. Associate at the counter said that if they find out ammo order arrives they hold it for themselves but could be it hasn't shown up. Great selection of hunting/fishing gear. Other novelties of haunting/fishing about. Do not forget the deli/bakery. I had a bison sandwich and a bite of elk burger. Sincerely one of the best sandwiches I'd ever had. Leaning towards elk. (Hopefully elk comes back into WV in a big way.) The atmosphere of the store is great. I put forth a effort to purchase a leather holster for my taurus model 80 revolver with 4inch barrel, to make sure I ordered the right one, I emailed him for correct one. They sent me a holster for a 2inch revolver, we called them and said we had to pay to return it & wait 10 weeks for the refund to be put in our account. So after 3 weeks no refund yet we reordered and again got a leather holster for a 2 to 4 inch barrel. Not ever the correct order number they emailed me. I spent about 30 minutes looking for a pair of hiking boots at this store. I found a pair that I liked and also liked the price. I looked around and could not find a single employee to help me. So, I went to the front of the store and saw 7-10 employees standing there talking. I asked one girl for help in the shoe department and was told that she didn't work in that department. She turned and the other employees scattered like a flock I geese being shot at. This place absolutely is horrific and the employees that were there yesterday and did this need to find work that has them far away from the public. This store has to be horrific. read more

One of the smaller sized store with typical Cabela fair with a Gun Library, located off of Corridor G. Located in an area that had lots of shopping and restaurant options. They buy and sell used weapons. They have different (AR15, lever, shotguns, etc.) rifles on display where customers are allowed to pick up and hold. Never seen anything like it before. Despite actually buying items while visiting, the staff working in the hunting department didn't make eye contact with me. But, sure kept an eye out for me and my other melanin rich compadre. read more

Called to check for a product Gave size color and told "Yes we have that" After driving there I was told they did not have it. Called back 2 weeks later, same thing except I said please check to make sure. Yep we have it! Drove there and the sales clerk said they haven't had that size for over a month. ended up calling and ordering it on line. Friday I was ready to purchase another pair so I tried again.....I did not call but took a chance. Waited 20 minutes for the single clerk in that dept and walked away. On May 03,2019 Purchased a Savage Mod.12FV that came with a 10% rebate for that rifle.After twice filling out the federal online in store 4473 And was asked why I needed the rifle the receipt that was captured and emailed to the proper company who handles Savage promotions stated that the receipt was declined due to no date was on the sales slip.After calling Cabelas it was more or less to bad for your luck.The offer of course had expired.Never again purchasing from Cabelas. read more

Cabelas customer service sucks. They are rude and argumentative. Furthermore you may as well forget trying to call their phone for information. calls just ring forever until the operator finally picks up and transfers call only to bounce back again. Must stem down from poor management. Oh well there are plenty other places to purchase guns and ammo. I for one will NEVER step foot inside this store again! I freaking guarantee it. read more

I went to this new Cabela's location last night for the first time. I have to say that it will most likely be my last. Every part of my experience there was sub-par at best. Even when we ate there. After paying $9 for a lunch meat sandwich, I asked if they had any BBQ sauce. I was told they did not have any. This led me to question, "What are they using to make the BBQ pulled pork?" The most disappointing part of the evening was that we (a friend of mine and myself) had drove 40 miles to get there after calling them and making sure that we could purchase a rifle. (The rifle was only a .22 mag). We were getting that part figured out, although the sales staff was little to no help. Seriously, these guys knew almost nothing about the guns they were selling. We had to help tell them about the rifles. However, we decided on one on our own. But of course, another issue during the paperwork. After calling prior to coming, driving all the way up there, and acting as our own sales staff.... could not purchase the long gun due to an out of state license. Only one of us had an out of state license, but once the miraculous salesman saw that, he would not even sell to the other which had an in state license. I should also mention the bad experiences both of us had trying to call in and ask them questions before we went. We both just got passed around on the phones. When we called about the .22, and finally got someone to talk to us, we also inquired about a scope. The response was that they did not know..... "That's all the way on the other side of the counter." Of course after seeing their setup, they were both at the same counter setup, about 20 feet apart. This should have been enough to show us we should not go, but we went anyways. I could go on and on with other examples, but they are probably not necessary. This was by far the worst Cabela's location I have ever been to. If you must go to the Southridge Plaza, I would recommend Gander Mountain over this place. I will most definitely be advising my family and friends to steer clear. I hope someone finds this helpful. read more

Went to Cabelas on 5-13-2016 to purchase a Oldtown kayak. Took a hour and a half to make the purchase. The first 2 that where brought out had already been purchased and where on hold. Finally a employee said that they didn't have any left. Told the employee that there was 10 of the same model out front. Manager finally got involved. Finally after 1.5 hrs of confusion on there part I walked out with a kayak. Left hand doesn't know what the rt hand is doing. Poor store management. read more
