This is one of my favorite stores! I went there with my mom and neice, about a month ago, on a Saturday. The store was bustling with customers; children, schools, and special interest groups. My neice, 26, was having a great time. I was enjoying the wonderful store as well. I was happy and smiling but I began to notice that many of the patrons were stonefaced in their looks towards me. At first, I thought it to be a misperception on my part. The salespeople were diverse, engaging and smiling. I was approached with a salespitch for a timeshare trip and I bought; all was well. However, as we continued to shop the faces continued to contort; I felt an icy contempt from several ( more than 5) Caucasian females and a few Caucasian couples; mind you, not all patrons. I grew up near (and worked at) the Cabelas in Hamburg, PA, which you can spend hours at just to see everything, so I was less than impressed with this location. Size aside, I was here to find some essentials for camping and was shocked by the pricing. A lot of the prices are marked way up, I'm assuming because of the merger with Bass Pro Shops? I must commend the Cabela's at the Christiana Mall. They have Santa's workshop and its absolutely beautifully done! The kids are able to go see Santa, talk to him and get their picture taken.....for FREE! Yes they sell packages if you would like more copies but if you just want the one....its FREE! Then once their picture is taken and they have told Santa EVERYTHING they want, they can sit at the tables and work on a variety of crafts....8ish inch wooden Elf ornament (they color it with markers) a drawstring bag that says Merry Christmas and a wooden puzzle to color too! All at no cost! And the best part of it all was the pleasant elves hosting the workshop! So nice, talked to the kids, sat and colored and offered the letter to Santa for the kids to write out and put in Santas REAL mailbox! I went when it was still new. The staff was clearly very new as one man walked away when I walked over to an area. I have been in customer service myself a while and understand being nervous but I still say hello to customers even when nervous. The store Compared to the PA one this place is small. The tax cut is nice but the PA one has a wonderful ride to and from the store. This place does not. I would only go back to get something very expensive. I was wide eyed walking around Cabela's before a cold weather camping trip. We ended up getting Cabela's MTP Base layers, heavy weight for me and polar weight for my life partner. The heavy weight worked perfectly for me, she was kept super warm and dry (barely any whining throughout the weekend in below freezing weather). I was a little disappointed that they didn't carry the Klean insulated canteen that I was looking for. A couple times we needed an associate to ask for directions in the gigantic store. I've been to the Cabela's stores in Hamburg and East Hartford. I've long waited for one that is closer to home and finally, here it is! This store is smaller than the aforementioned two locations though, so they don't have as much. However, there still is a lot to see here. And thank goodness for the helpful sales associates because for some weird reason, Garmin GPSes are scattered in a half dozen places within the store depending on model and it took a bit of effort to locate the specific one that I was looking for. read more

I love Cabela's! It is a friendly and happy place to buy outdoor equipment and hunting supplies. The Christiana store is huge and if you need it but can't find it at Cabela's then it doesn't exist. My only complaint is that they have been subject to some shortages of specific ammo over the years which shouldn't have happened due to the large volume of their sales. Don't get me started on this complaint because I won't be kind to the conspiracy jobs that have caused the shortages! I believe Cabelas online store (www.cabelas.com) is using misleading images of a popular product to sell a product that they cannot move honestly at this time. I attempted to purchase .410 shotgun ammunition and received 12 gauge ammunition. The image showed a box of .410 ammo and the listing was marked as .410. The boxes received also had 15 fewer shells than the listing image. When I complained they told me the image warns "*Image may not represent product selected" But I have a copy of the image taken from their site and there is no such warning, not that it would excuse misleading customers. Further, I know based on my experience with the industry that .410 has become extremely hard to find. I have seen sites selling boxes of .410 shells for as much as $700. I have also seen many shelves emptied of .410 and full of 12 gauge at the same time. I hope to prevent others from falling prey to this deceptive practice and dissuade online merchants from behaving in this way. read more

Without prior knowledge, I thought Cabelas would be an outdoor version of Dicks but they're an authentic hunter, camper and prepper's paradise as EVERYTHING you can think of is stocked. Its an adventure to walk through the store and just look. Look overhead and you find stuffed game and there's a humongous fish tank stocked with trout, salmon and other fish. Guns and ammo are sold on premise but security procedures are enforced and you must check-in and secure guns before entering. Cabelas offers a range of classes and they have a small archery booth to try out bows before purchase. Every non-urban mall needs a Cabelas. read more

Went to Cabelas to buy a box of arrows for my dad and myself. They seemed pretty busy last weekend so I asked to have them cut and ready for pick up the following weekend. We drove the hour ride home and opened the box to find that the arrows they cut are just slathered with glue and were all stuck together in the box and glued to the box. The young staff intentionally avoids you and has ZERO knowledge or interest in the outdoors. I have been to many stores throughout the country and love them all except the one where I live! File under fiction... Cabela's has the worst customer service I have ever experienced. To be honest, it shouldn't even be called customer service. Negotiating a car is less of a hassle. I attempted to warranty out a pair of socks, allegedly backed by a lifetime warranty. The socks had only been used a few times, and the materials failed. The store manager flat out refused to honor the warranty, and had the gall to say that the "lifetime warranty" was only applicable to a product that is brand new. Seriously!? Cabela's has permanently lost a customer. Their lifetime warranty is apparently a work of fiction. I drove down to this cabelas from PA to purchase a trolling motor and depth finder for a boat i just bought. I was looking for trolling motors on display and asked one of the sales people where they were he said not all were on display if I know the one I want, he will go get it from the back, I asked how would I know which one I want without knowing about them , he just shrugged with a confused look and said I should go over to the window and get a catalog to look at them, I went over to the window and asked for a catalog and Kathy said they don't have marine catalogs and I should go up front and lookup the online site with the computer in customer service. SEXIST DISCRIMINATORY CAVEMAN working at gun counter- Take your money elsewhere! My husband and I have spent $3000 in the last three months at this particular store in the gun department alone. I made the mistake of walking into the store after work dressed up in high heels and a fur coat. I inquired about a particular gun I had recently been told about while shooting at the target range and instantly Caveman goes into a panic attack shaking his head back-and-forth chanting no, no, no... "I'm not comfortable selling this to you, no". I was stunned, confused and had no idea what was going on .....My initial thought was maybe he didn't think I could handle the gun!?! So I responded, "oh I'm getting it for my husband". WELL, my ability to handle the gun was apparently NOT his concern because now he used THAT statement as his excuse for not selling me the gun! Now he says that he "doesn't know if my husband is legal to have a gun." I told him that he could look up both myself AND my husband, both at the same address, look us up in the system and see that we have purchased from this very counter and these very sales people time and time again. He tried to claim that they have no record of what you purchase there! Give me a break! Walmart can tell me when I bought toilet paper and how much! So it literally was all about the fact that I didn't look the part! I told him so! I told him that he was discriminating on me because I'm a woman and I look like a girly girl today. I asked if I had to go put my camo on to be sold a gun the same way I have been every other time. I finally walked away to try and calm down and then it occurred to me that I have countless videos of me on the gun range with my semi automatics! So I reapproached the counter... And another staff person heard me out, and was allowing me to look at the gun when caveman's bestie chimes in that I'm purchasing a gun for somebody else and that store law won't let me make the purchase! I then laid down my phone with the video clips of me shooting my assault rifle... Also dressed like a girly girl in my fur vest and high heels! I decided that what I really want is to go home and find all of my receipts and gather up all my merchandise and return all of this overpriced crap! Don't go to Cabela's in Christiana if you are purchasing any type of firearm. I mistakenly purchased a 22 rifle here and went on Cabela's online after the purchase. I found they had 2 SKU's for the same item and I was charged the higher price. I returned to the store and pointed out the issue and asked for a partial refund. I spent 30 minutes reviewing the specs with an associate who agreed with me. He went to speak with his manager (Cameron) and returned by himself and told me they had differences "internally". It was absolutely a lie made up to refuse issuing $120 credit. Shame on you Cabelas in Christiana. *update* after significant pressure Cabela's issued a $60 credit. this place is a sporting goods store on steroids. lol. its ginormous and the selection of goods cannot be beat by ANY sporting goods store ive ever been to. they have employees whose sole purpose is to greet customers as they enter and theres no shortage of employees on the floor to assist you with merchandise. what most surprised me was the huge displays of wildlife. this place was like universal studios or a wildlife wax museum. theyve spent alot of time and money making your shopping experience an unforgettable one. their ammo prices are extremely reasonable. guns were a bit overpriced but id expect that from most retail establishments. i really didnt have time to look at much else but i will definitely be going back to spend more time exploring this store. id recommend it to anyone who needs outdoor goods or firearms accessories for sure. read more

Well I live in southern Delaware but I see the VA Dr.'s in Wilmington De. When this happens I try to use time productively and swing into Cabelas. I am a big fan of small arms and I always have my eye open for a great deal! Well, at Cabelas you're "never" going to find a "great" deal but you could do worse. Take for instance the Taurus TCP 380 I picked up. Now new you can find the same gun new for $225-250. This one was gently used asking$189. They gave me another $20 off. Now it came with just the gun and 1 mag. No case, keys, manual. So I get home and go to shoot it. Extractor is broken!!! Now they give you 10 days to return the gun. Instead I called Taurus and they sent me a new extractor no problem. So I looked on YouTube and figured out how to install it. The gun runs like new. So, I would be hesitant to purchase used from them again. They have a very large selection of new guns to choose from. read more
