We loved Beach Haven…read more Recently we spent 4 days at Beach Haven and all i can say is I wished it were more. These cabins and resort are perfect for quiet getaway from the cities hustle and bustle. Pure Heaven. Loved the people, the ease to walk out of cabin straight to beach, starry nights and the smell of the huge cedars. The sunsets are amazing, the birds are beauty singing every morning. I will be back every year. In fact sooner than a year if I can find vacancy. The staff was wonderful. We accidently left somethings and were contacted immediately to pick them up. Thank goodness we were still on the island. Thanks Beach Haven for the rest.

You can hear traffic from the main road but this is island traffic, not big city traffic. Severe plumbing failure, hostile management, physical aggression, and unlawful eviction…read more In short, please don't stay at this location, I just got the worst experience in my life at this venue. I strongly warn anyone considering staying at Lakedale Resort. What should have been a peaceful trip turned into a complete nightmare involving structural property failure, hostile management, profanity, physical aggression, police intervention, and wrongful eviction. 1. Severe Structural Water Damage & Uninhabitable Conditions During our stay, wastewater from an internal plumbing issue leaked directly through the ceiling into our downstairs bedroom, completely soaking the mattress, bedding, and our personal belongings with foul-smelling water. Despite the upstairs bathroom floor being dry (with only a minimal corner puddle), the building completely lacked proper subfloor waterproofing, allowing dirty water to pour directly onto the bed below. 2. Complete Refusal of Reasonable Remedy When we reported the biohazard and asked for a room switch or a guaranteed clean replacement mattress, the front desk repeatedly stalled, shifted blame onto us for "normal bathroom use," and refused to provide a habitable solution. They offered neither an alternative cabin nor a guarantee that we would have a dry, sanitary place to sleep that night. 3. Profanity, Physical Altercation, and Police Intervention When we attempted to escalate the issue to the higher manager to reach a resolution, the situation escalated dangerously: When we tried to record the interaction to document the unsafe conditions, the manager lashed out with profanity, screaming, "Are you recording? Get the f** out of here!"* The manager then became physically aggressive and pushed us. Fearing for our safety, we immediately called 911. Local law enforcement had to be dispatched to the property to document the incident (Police Incident report filed). 4. Wrongful Eviction & Fraudulent Charges Instead of taking responsibility for the structural failure and their manager's violent conduct: Management unlawfully evicted us on the spot, forcing us off the property in the middle of our trip with nowhere to go. To make matters worse, they issued Folio, refusing a full refund and unilaterally slapping an unauthorized $200 "Property Damage - Water Damage" fee onto our card--penalizing us for their own defective plumbing. We have audio recordings of the verbal abuse and profanity, receipts of the unauthorized damage fees, and the official police incident record. We are pursuing a full credit card chargeback, filing complaints with the Washington State Attorney General (Consumer Protection) and San Juan County regulatory agencies, and pursuing legal action. Do not stay here. If anything goes wrong with their aging infrastructure, management will blame you, curse at you, physically intimidate you, kick you out, and charge your card for the damage.

Accommodations were only about 5 minutes from downtown restaurants and museums, We took the scenic bypass and stopped at all the attractions along the way around the Island. We had a wonderful time and look forward to visiting some of the other Islands in the area.

While I always bring coffee making kit with me, I hadn't remembered tea. Turned out the kitchen was well-stocked with all the tea. Our host very kindly offered to pick up things for us when it snowed, but it's only about a mile walk into town, so we found it pretty easy to pick up provisions at the excellent Co-Op and Bakery San Juan. There are so many great hikes on the island, but having a day to watch the snow fall, read, and drink tea, was just what I needed--along with watching the bald eagles nesting. What a special place!

They do have a family/tv room, but we never felt the need to turn it on. The place is gorgeous! 57 acres of forest, a few trails including one up to a nice sunset bluff, and right on the beach (but an enviro-friendly 200 feet back, and nice preservation of the trees). This review is for the kayaking experience. We took a Saturday 9am paddle with Sandy (one-half of the owners). It was marvelous. They have the best-priced guided kayak tour on the island, and an excellent location to depart from. Sandy and Carl (her husband, the other owner), were friendly, efficient, and knowledgeable. They answered all kinds of questions about Island life, environmental policy, wildlife, kayaking, etc. The gear was in great shape and they even had long boats (for the 2 tall men in the group) and gloves and boots for all. 8 of us went out in 4 boats and Sandy expertly assessed the group's interests and skills and kept us all herded and engaged. We saw bald eagles, seals, and plenty of intertidal stuff. After hearing that none of us had pressing engagements, Sandy stayed out with us an extra half hour, at least (hard to tell time on the water). Overall, a fabulous experience. Well worth the money (oh, and they take credit cards).

It's hard to say what I liked best about our stay at Cayou Cove, so I will list them out : ) First of all, we stayed in the Gardner's Cottage, which is the smallest of the three cottages, but it was amazingly quaint and charming with all the luxuries of home. We brought along our German Shepherd, Zoe, and the owners went out of their way to prepare for her arrival as well. There was a water bowl, dog blanket, dog towel, doggies bags, and a baggie or treats for our pup! This is wonderful place to travel to with your dog! 2. I LOVED the wood burning fireplace. The crackling of the fire, the warmth...it was amazing. We had the fire burning all day. The owners re-supplied us with wood/paper when needed. 3. The hot tub for two out back is amazingly romantic and private. The cottage is tucked away from all the others, so there is plenty of privacy. Because it was rainy the weekend we were there, we used the hot tub quite a bit, and the view was unbelievable. Additionally, there are two chairs and an outdoor fire pit for enjoyment when the weather allows. 4. The cottage is completely stocked with all the amenities of home. For example, the little kitchen has every utensil and supply you could need. Our next trip there I will bring more groceries so we can take advantage of the amazing kitchen more! Also, the bathroom feels straight out of spa. The cottage comes equipped with robes and slippers for two as well! 5. The location!!!! My fiancé, my dog, and I were out exploring most of the day! We loved walking along the beach, eating dinner in town, and relaxing together all day long! The cottage is located right on the water with beach access from each cottage. I highly recommend the cottage for a romantic getaway with a loved one. It was the perfect escape from how busy life can get back in the city! Thank you for your hospitality!
