From the moment we drove onto the property, we were in awe! Our stay here was beyond amazing - it was a way to connect to nature, recharge and truly relax and enjoy our time together and our time away. Located in San Juan Islands in Friday Harbor, this is the ideal spot if you want to unplug and have some down time. Downtown Friday Harbor has many restaurants, shops and spots to explore - And it's only about a 12 minute drive from the resort. Everything is a short driving distance away. The staff at Snug Harbor is super friendly and beyond helpful when trying to find out how to spend your time on the island. It's a small staff, so please be patient with them if they are taking care of other guests. They will do everything they can to be sure your stay is enjoyable, relaxing and that you have the best experience. The grounds are phenomenal! Each cabin is nestled in the woods surrounded by beautiful trees and scenery and each one overlooks the Mitchell Bay. Canoes and kayaks are available at the resort for everyday use, there is also a coffee shop {you must try the Matcha Latte} as well as resort store equipped with wine, beer, snacks, daily toiletries as well as the cutest Snug Harbor merch. Each of the cabins will have you wanting to move in immediately! We had a one bedroom suite that was perched on top of a hill and tucked in a private corner with a gorgeous view of the water. The cabins are fully equated with dishes, cooking tools, towels, and everything you could possibly need for a weekend in the woods. Since each cabin also comes with a grill, we hit up the local market {King's Market} - Some delicious steaks, salads and amazing wine - This combined with the views, it was a perfect stay! My husband and I love to travel and have been fortunate enough to take some once-in-a-lifetime trips.. and this weekend away and our stay at Snug Harbor was definitely one for the books! We can't wait to come back!

Absolutely loved this property! It's the perfect spot to stay where you're not in the busy town but close enough to drive to. You're in the quiet little bay surrounded by the trees, water and tons of birds singing. We booked the one bedroom suite, the check in and out process was really simple. All the staff we encountered during our stay were pleasant and helpful. The grounds are gorgeous, they keep everything literally perfect. They offer paddle boards and kayaks for the guests that we ended up using. There's a little coffee and guest shop on the property as well. They have fire pits you can use right by the water with the best views. Overall, we're so happy we found this hidden gem!

This is a great quaint and quiet place to stay. It is located right in the center of San Juan Island so you can easily access anywhere you wish to go while visiting. Awesome staff who were very willing to accommodate us when we were getting in pretty late at night. They have a nice little shop, and coffee shop that will just about meet most of your needs. If you are not a go out to dinner and lunches type of person, every unit has a small kitchen in it and a grill outside. Beautiful morning sunrises easily seen, and lots of wildlife and waterfowl all around. This was exactly the quiet restful place we were looking for on our getaway. We will definitely book here again.

    Kitchen was immaculate.

Bargain Alert! When I score a home run--I want to tell everyone! Hubby and I booked this for an overnight to surprise my sister from Pasadena. Our two bedroom cabin had a beautiful view of the harbor, and was perfect in every way! Furnishing were upscale, the place was spotless and everything was in great condition--like a new resort! The grounds were immaculate and the office features a cafe and fully stocked small market with gift shop, as well as a lovely meeting space and adjoining kitchen for groups. They have BBQs for you to use, crab pots to cook your crab and fire pits and tables for casual gatherings outside. Perfect for families and gatherings of friends. The price was terrific and this is a place we'll definitely book again; the only question is how soon.

My wife and daughter and I were cozy in the snowstorm here in our 2-bedroom cabin, despite the beds being a little too firm. The views were magnificent, we had everything we needed for cooking, and the beds were fine. I appreciated the high quality, old school iPod dock/CD player, and the fact that the proprietors are taking COVID seriously.

This cabin resort was the perfect Covid-safe getaway! The whole resort is so quiet and peaceful. Every room in the cabin (2BRs and living room) had views of the water, the kitchen was stocked with all the cookware we needed, and the beds were cozy! Extra points for the super friendly greeting when we checked in, the cute coffee shop on-site, and the fire pits by the water stocked with firewood. We'll definitely be back!

This resort is a great getaway for couples, families, or a small group of friends given that every respect social distancing and covid precautions while on the resort. They offer many amenities from kayak, canoe, paddle boards, bikes, crab cages, fire pits, board games, various outdoor seating, and a gym. My friends and I definitely enjoyed our time there catching and cooking some crab in their fully stocked kitchens within our cabin. The staff was friendly and courteous. Everything was clean and we felt safe staying there with covid precautions.

Ask the Community - Snug Harbor Marina Resort

Are you able to fish on the property?

Good Morning Stacy, You are able to fish from our docks but it would be for children. There is no productive fishing from the docks that adults would enjoy. There is very good fishing immediately outside of our protected bay along the West side…

    Is it pet friendly?

Hi Michael, We do allow animals on the property but we do not allow them in the cabins. We apologize for any inconvenience this may cause. Thank you for the inquiry.…

The room was large with a balcony looking out to the lake, mini fridge and a wet bar area. The view on the balcony was lovely but the walls that separate your balcony to your neighbors do not go all the way down. Because we stayed at the lodge, our stay came with breakfast. It was a continental style breakfast with freshly made omelet and potatoes. It was pretty good but the wait can be long. I recommend getting in as soon as they open. The stars from the breakfast were the pancakes and their in-house made granola. They had a pancake maker which made perfect little pancakes. And their granola! So delicious. Full of nuts and fruit pieces. They won't tell you the recipe but you can buy per pound to take home. Around the resort, there were lawn games you could play. Bikes, canoes, and pedal boats to borrow. There was a children's activity area and a general store which were closed when we went.

The location is great - close to everything in Friday Harbor but not on a street with as much traffic as some others. The customer service is great - just send them a text and you get a response in seconds. The staff are friendly and helpful. Our room interior was good - everything looked clean with plenty of toiletries, cozy robes, and a heated bathroom floor. The bathroom in general was dated. We had a non operational jetted tub that had been converted into a duel faucet rain shower. It was rather weird, but it worked. I also really liked the keyless entry, so no worries about losing your key! Now, my one negative. Our room, and I'm assuming all rooms on this side of the building, abut a loading dock and parking lot for an adjacent grocery store. Every morning at 5am, a semi truck, fork lift, and workers unload the truck. In addition to back up safety alarms, truck engines idling, and workers talking, you also hear the constant rumbling of goods being unloaded. This goes on for HOURS.....starting at 5am. The hotel gives you ear plugs and notes that there is no noise ordinance on the island and notes that neighbors can be noisy and the hotel can't do anything about that. I get it...you can't control noisy patrons or neighbors, but the description given doesn't really convey what is actually going on with this side of the building. Constant, very loud noise and alarms for over two hours starting at 5am. All that said, I would stay here again, but I would make sure any room I book has views of the harbor, and not the back side of the hotel.

It has steps, indoors and out (I found the outdoor steps easier on my bad hip) and it's just a lovely place - nicely decorated and SO clean. Our room was Fidalgo, we had a big soaker tub and kitchen area, I loved having two places to watch tv since sometimes one of you can sleep and the other is enjoying vacation insomnia time. ;) Out back, a walk through a parking lot takes you to King's Market which had everything. We did not find the hotel loud, but they offer earplugs just in case. The mattress was great, seriously- firn enough but with a soft topper or something, we both slept so well.

The grounds -- consisting of about 4 or 5 separate buildings -- had a lovely chill vibe, lots of greenery around the compound, an indoor pool and sauna and a nice array of separate outdoor seating areas. The separate office/lobby was a large but cozy welcoming space with a fireplace, couches and coffee and a comfy spot to relax in. Also, not gonna lie -- accommodations are upscale Best Western level, which again, I have no problem with, but just so ya know, that's 300 greenbacks in high season. Hey, it's an island, I get it, there's not many options; Just throwing it out there. Our Queen Standard room was on the small side, but the bath/shower was perfectly adequate (if a bit dated), as was the A/C, and the bed and bedding was pretty comfortable. The staff too was awesome, cheery and happy to meet any need. We loved the pool and jacuzzi setup, and there's even a little exercise room in the same building. One thing I could have done without were the 5 or so emails I received before check-in, begging me to complete the online check-in form ahead of time, so I could just go right to the room without needing to stop at the office. Didn't work and I still had to physically check in. So yea, that was a pain. And yet? They still get 4 stars. Our one-night stay may have been expensive but it was very comfortable.

I really appreciated that they had free EV chargers for guests, so we could plug in our car after a long day of driving and riding the ferry, at no additional charge. Spectacular. They are centrally located to everything you might want to do in Friday Harbor, so we only had to take our car once, when we went sightseeing around the island. Otherwise, it just stayed parked because we could walk everywhere, which was really nice. Everyone I interacted with during our stay was pleasant and professional. We had a maintenance issue in our room and they were quick to remedy it. I was a little disappointed that our room did not have some kind of fan to move air and the AC only went down to about 67 degrees and the furniture felt a bit...damp, so that is the reason for the 4 stars. I like my room to be cold, crisp, and clean and the one we stayed in just felt a bit...musty. Also, the local lavender farm is closed and the products are now sourced from Whidbey Island, but that was not disclosed to me until I asked, so I might suggest updating the information in the rooms. I was a bit disappointed we couldn't visit the lavender farm on island because it was permanently closed and so the sign in the bathroom kind of set me up for failure. All in all, it was a mostly pleasant stay and I would return the next time we want to visit Friday Harbor.
