Very warm and friendly hosts . We arrived very late in the evening. I'm one of the last ferries Inn and they left a note for us on the door with full instructions. On how to get in our room, the breakfast was very good and they even made a to go on our last day. The in is located out of town in the countryside. About 10 mins from the ferry. Lammas goats on property. We drove bit the area has Taxi. Comfortable and quiet. No elevator so if your room is upstairs you will need to get your bags up the stairs case Breakfast was also served upstairs. read more

We stayed out our first ever Bed and Breakfast and it was amazing! We highly recommend visiting the San Juan Islands, Friday Harbor, and staying at the Trumpeter Inn Bed & Breakfast. There are so many positives I am sure I missed some. Location: Close to town (5min), also centrally located to head to any part of the island! County Setting (5 acres) with livestock you can feed! Our room had an en-suite bathroom that was clean and had modern fixtures. Wonderful hosts! Claudia, Tyrone & Sveva. Claudia made an amazing breakfast each morning. She even baked chocolate chip cookies daily, there was also coffee, tea, & hot coco available at any time for us to have from the kitchen. We really enjoyed feeding the Alpacas and Pygmy Goats. The animals were so adorable and friendly. My only con was our initial impression of the room as it did not have a TV. But as our stay went on, we thoroughly enjoyed not having a TV in the room, it allowed us to disconnect more and take in the beauty of the island and surroundings. They do have a family/tv room, but we never felt the need to turn it on. If you are looking for a little peace & quiet, with a great breakfast each morning that is included in your stay, you have to come and stay at the Trumpeter Inn Bed & Breakfast!! read more

My husband and I celebrated our 38th wedding anniversary here at the Trumpeter Inn. This was our first trip to the San Juan Islands and I am so grateful I found the website for this property. The grounds are lovely. Peaceful setting with many outside sitting areas. Our room was so comfortable and quiet. We had a private patio with a view of the goats and alpacas. I loved feeding and watching them. The atmosphere inside is unlike any place we have stayed. The hostess,Claudia does a wonderful job of sharing her "hobby" and love of hospitality. The gathering spots were comfortable and invited conversations with other guests. The drive into Friday harbor is a quick 5 minutes on beautiful roads. We will be back. read more

This place is a GEM! Our room was super comfortable and had all the amenities. In addition to the room itself, there were some great common areas to relax & enjoy the property. The goats and alpacas were a highlight... it's so fun to go feed them. We were also absolutely obsessed with the breakfast provided each morning. I wish I had taken photos, because it was so well-presented. I would have gladly paid for these meals at a restaurant. Absolutely delicious! It's fun to sit together and hear about the other guest's adventures each day. The biggest highlight of our experience were the hosts. SO friendly & kind. What a lovely place! Everything was perfect. Very clean, quiet, tastefully appointed and homemade brownies! I loved the pastoral views. Feeding the alpacas and miniature goats was a treat too! Claudia was super in letting me drop my things off before check-in and got right back to me with all my questions. There is a nice spacious kitchen. The coffee pot started at 6 a.m. (i'm an early riser) and the coffee was GOOD! (I'm a coffee snob) I can't wait to go back. The innkeepers here are quite lovely! Our room was comfortable and as pictured. They draw a very friendly crowd and it was fun talking to the other guests at breakfast. We even had a round of croquet with another couple one evening. Breakfast was better than average. We enjoyed a quiche, pancakes and a frittata over the course of our three night stay. Love that there are always cookies available for the guests. Also lots of games in the cupboard for playing. Though the setting is lovely and very pastoral I missed having a view of the water. Oh, this place is so lovely! The new hosts took over about 6-9 months ago, so I don't know much about the previous ones - but these two are fantastic. The breakfast was SO tasty, and they work really hard on accommodations for those who have restrictions. They have so many little amenities. They really care! The alpacas are a fun element, and the ability to go out and feed them after breakfast is sure fun! The owners know so much about the island and are happy to share! The property is amazing and, of course, Friday Harbor itself is super lovely. My only hesitation in recommending it is that it will be all booked up! read more

I had such an amazing experience!!! The property is so beautiful, clean and the hosts go beyond what you'd ever expect with a gorgeous breakfast every morning. I had an adorable room with a window that looked out to their alpacas! My friend and I were amazed how the hosts thought of everything when it came to the room. There is a place and reason for everything! It's the little things. In the morning we sat down to coffee, orange juice, fruit parfaits, bacon and home made berry French toast. We stayed at the Trumpeter Inn B&B for our 3-year wedding anniversary. We wanted to visit Friday Harbor because that's where we were engaged 4 years ago. Of course being the peak season to visit, many of the hotels were sold out or were priced excessively high. We were lucky to find a couple of available B&Bs for the weekend we wanted to visit. We chose Trumpeter Inn after doing some research, and while we were a little skeptical (first time staying at a B&B), we are so happy we stayed here! We were checked-in and welcomed warmly by the owner Shawn. She gave us a tour and we were pleasantly surprised by the amenities provided. There were complimentary beverages/water, snacks, and homemade cookies (my husband loved the cookies!). The place was immaculate and the bathroom had great amenities as well. The bed was comfortable and the sheets were amazing. We stayed in the Savory room (downstairs and the only room available for the night), but we hope to stay in a room with a balcony next time. The B&B grounds are very nice too. There's a farm with horses and alpacas. My husband and I drank a cup of coffee by a mini pond where there was a comfortable swinging bench. Breakfast was simple, yet delicious. All in all, a wonderful place and i couldn't be happier to write my first review about this charming B&B. We will be back. read more

Pros: Overall, I had a nice stay. Breakfast was great and they accommodated my vegan, gluten free diet which I appreciate. The alpacas are cute but the goats are very old. Stay in a room with a porch/balcony. It's nice sitting outside listening to nature and seeing the stars at night. Cons: I would be wary of booking here during the pandemic. They have a strict cancellation policy (must cancel 2 weeks prior to stay). If you depend on the ferry to get to the island, the ferry system is experiencing many issues due to the pandemic. Our ferry from Anacortes was delayed 2.5 hours because of lack of staff. I had read about this on the news 13 days before our stay and I tried to cancel our reservation at the Trumpeter. They wouldn't allow me to cancel and said I could reserve for a later date, but that wouldn't work since my friend lives out of town. I understand the ferry situation isn't their fault, but wish they would be more understanding with cancellations during the pandemic. read more

My husband and I spent 4 nights here to celebrate our wedding anniversary. It lived up all the positive reviews. Jon and Sherry were lovely hosts. Sherry is a gourmet cook and had a wonderful breakfast prepared for us every morning. Our room "Sage" had beautiful views of the property, a comfortable bed, and a modern bathroom with a shower that gets quite hot (which is important to me). The property has alpacas, mini-horses, and a goat. It's very close to downtown Friday Harbor, yet we felt like we were tucked away in a mini-sanctuary. We will definitely stay here again. read more

My sister and I stayed the night at this bnb.. omg, the location is straight out of a painting! Shawn was sooooo kind and a fabulous chef. She has two amazing Australia shepherds that are the sweetest and you would never even know they were around. The beds were so comfortable and it was the best sleep we had. Goats, alpacas, mini horses... oh my! Staying at the Trumpeter was a dream. Jon is the ultimate host, and Sherri an amazing chef! From the yummy toffee cookies at check in to the fresh baked bread and gorgeous egg roulade for breakfast, easily some of the best food we had during our short trip to San Juan island. We stayed in the chamomile room downstairs, which was equipped with a super comfortable bed and luxurious bedding. The en suite bathroom was nice and well stocked, and you can see the alpaca and mini horses from your window! It was nice to be just a few minutes from Friday Harbor, but away from the main tourist drag. Their property is gorgeous and relaxing. They had tons of outdoor seating, fruit trees, and we especially loved getting to see their dogs and farm animals. They had two complimentary bikes which we rode into town for dinner - only a ten minute ride (though that hill will make you glisten!) and we saw deer along the way. Couldn't ask for anything more. A perfect bed and breakfast. We were only there for one night but felt right at home from the moment we arrived. There was a pond on the property, fountains, a hot tub. The guest home was separate from the owner's (Shaun) home. I totally felt like we had privacy but yet Shaun was there whenever we needed anything. The Breakfast was amazing. This could make or break a bed and breakfast. Amazing! Absolutely loved this B&B, and wish I could come more frequently. I did extensive research on the B&Bs on the island and ended up selecting this one, probably for the affordability and fresh cookies upon arrival. I sure did pick the best one. We had privacy and serenity, along with a filling breakfast of eggs, roasted potatoes, grilled asparagus with shallots, and fresh fruit. There was also an array of snacks, sodas and teas to select from. We checked-in to the sweet smell of ginger molasses cookies and woke up to the smell of freshly brewed coffee. Driving up to the Trumpeter, Joey, a cute little Aussie pup, was sitting on the side of the driveway, as if ready to greet us. Later, we got to play with the dog, along with the goats and alpacas in the pastor. We were thrilled, since the Alpaca Farm was closed, and we were eager to see the gentle creatures up close. The inn also offered an office space to work, where I got to print some last minute tax forms, along with a TV and DVDs (not to mention popcorn as one of the snacks!). Loved the Nora Jones music playing upstairs near the kitchen and breakfast tables. Shaun, the wonderful owner, packed us a bag of her award-winning cookies for our whale watching trip! We shared with the captains and guests on the boat. The captains, of course, know about Shaun's cookies and were so thankful we had them packed for the trip. The guests loved it and even asked where we stayed! I didn't know this before booking, but read in the guestbook that Trumpeter will pack utensils and napkins and such if you wish to go on a picnic. Nice little touch! I recommend to all those who visit the island. read more

The pictures don't do justice to the charm of this little Bed and Breakfast. I've stayed twice in the last two years. The proprietress has covered all the bases. The place is extra unique as it is on a quiet 'farm' setting but just two minutes from downtown Friday Harbor. I enjoyed meeting other guests at the breakfast table. Loved the hammock outside. The Yarrow Room bed was comfortable, if the room as a little narrow but I picked it as it was the least expensive. Cant wait to stay again! Thanks for your hospitality Shaun! read more

The rooms were large and very comfortable complete with private bathrooms stocked with shampoos, conditioners, and every other bath product you could think of if you forgot them at home. The Bed was large and very comfortable it was some of the best sleep I've had on holiday for a while, it was a soft bed with plenty of billowy pillows, and a light down comforter to boot!!!! It was like sleeping on a cloud. There are also these two horses Jerry and Thunder, and if you have apples or carrots or shaun will provide you with them you can go feed these horses. Our other 2 favorite hosts the furry ones I mentioned before ( don't tell Shaun) but our favorite hosts Joey and Jenny and they are two most ADORABLE, and Lovable dogs who happen to be Shaun and Geoff's pet dogs, but they make the stay that more enjoyable and more friendly. One of the days we came back early and just played catch with these two dogs, and they are so full of energy and jenny is especially eager to play catch all day, (thankfully they have these toys called the chuckit) or my arm would've fallen off. We adore these two dogs, and make us want to go back sooner than later. Important Note. it's usually closed from late October to March or April. Shaun goes to Arizona for other work with her husband. Sometimes her assistants keep it open, but check online, or call them to make sure when the last nights are for the season Let me finish by saying Trumpeter Inn Bed and Breakfast is A reason in itself to go back to Friday Harbor, even if there wasn't the natural splendor of the islands. Staying at the Trumpeter Inn B&B would be enough to go back stay there and do nothing else. There is absolutely nothing wrong with this place. It stands alone as a holiday destination. read more

Perfect place for a weekend away stay on San Juan Island. Shaun was the perfect hostess, and provided lots of nice touches, like free drinks and snacks, freshmade cookies made upon arrival (we downed them!). She had picnic baskets, blankets available for use, and DVDs in the downstairs living area, with a computer set up for visitors, and a portable DVD player for those who just want to hide away in their room. There's candy bowls throughout the house. The hot tub was only a few months new (we didn't use it though), and she had extra flip flops, robes, etc for those who wanted to use it. The breakfasts were filling and delicious (Served at 9am every day). The drive into the B&B itself kinda transports you into a relaxing, country feel, with cows along the side of the property. There was a nice hammock for relaxing and lots of other benches and seating throughout the grounds. It was great, would highly recommend people stay there. There are 6 rooms total. read more

The b&b sits on a lot of land with a pond and beautiful views of the small valley. Very peaceful and relaxing. Shaun is an amazing host! She booked a kayak tour for us in roche harbor (so much fun) and massages. All in all it was the perfect get away thanks to Shaun for helping us plan the weekend and for her delicious breakfasts and fresh made cookies! I highly recommend this b&b. We stayed one night at the Trumpeter Inn B&B, and wished we could have stayed longer! We reserved the Sage, a nicely appointed room with a Queen bed, and two large windows facing the back of the grounds. The room and en-suite bathroom were clean, tastefully decorated, and full of extra touches for our comfort (such as the top-down, bottom-up blinds, the bathrobes, and what I think were 1000-count bedsheets). In addition, our room was right off the kitchen, which was stocked with not only freshly baked cookies, but also complimentary sodas, juices, and other snacks. Shaun was the perfect hostess - she showed us where everything was, let us know how to reach her if we needed anything, and then let us have the run of the house and grounds to enjoy ourselves. She even offered to drive us back to town when we checked out the next morning. (The inn is about 2 miles from the ferry dock in Friday Harbor, and we had hiked in and out.) I miss the Trumpeter Inn and daydream of it often. It was truly heavenly. The B&B was immaculate. You could tell that Shawn took great pride in her property. From the welcoming tour to the fresh baked cookies, I felt like we had stepped out of the chaos of the city and into a refreshing, warm home. Pros - AMAZING home-baked cookies, furry friends (including Shawn's sweet dogs and the alpacas and goats), refreshments and snacks all day, a hammock to relax in, an incredibly comfortable bed, the beautiful yard and home, Shawn's extensive knowledge of the island and willingness to help with your every need (i.e booking reservations, recommending hiking trails, getting you a cooler or picnic breakfast, booking a massage, etc.), your privacy was respected (Shawn lives in a completely different building next to the property but was available at any time), a delicious home-cooked breakfast (the tropical french toast was spectacular), relaxing but with things to do if you wanted to get out and about, a hot tub, a home away from home in a great location, and most importantly, LIFE SLOWED DOWN Cons - That we didn't stay longer! I had to cancel my reservation April 1 for a June visit of one night because of Covid19. I am being charged a cancellation charge and tax because of this:50.00 plus tax. We stayed here for two nights, it was absolutely fabulous! With apple and pear trees in the front yard, llamas and goats in the back yard, friendly doggies and professional host, my stay was pleasant and happy! Did I mention the Jacuzzi under countless stars, and the host complementary award-winning cookies fresh from the oven for your trip every morning? I stayed here July 13th and had a wonderful time. Me and my husband went for our 9year anniversary. It was our very first b&b and didn't know what to expect. First of all, me and my husband are 30 and we were a little nervous that the age group scenery would be a little older. It was, but that's ok. When we first arrived we walked in and immediately felt awkward. We had a cute note stuck to the door and went straight to our quaint room. The things that I loved is there was a shaving kit if you left one and make up wipes. Hotels would charge $5 for each one. It was a little weird that you can hear everyone so we did feel a little out of place. My husband said it felt like we were teenagers again and our parents were outside in the living room. But once we finally got settled and kept an open mind, it was amazing. I read a lot of reviews and one reviewer said there wasn't an iron in the room which is true but if you ask Shaun she has one available and she will hand deliver it. Another reviewer said coffee wasn't great and it was cold by the time breakfast was ready. I looooved the coffee and I'm a coffee snob. Another reviewer said there is no reception,well that's correct, But the whole island doesn't unless you have t-mobile. All the islanders will tell you that.it was a little slow but we were able to make calls. The second day me and my husband decided to ride bikes that are available for FREE to town. It was sooo fun. I haven't rode a bike since i was 12. It took us 10 mins to get to town. After being in town and exploring we came back with some wine around 6 and sat in the hammock and just enjoyed the serenity. My husband, I think loved the animals more but it's ok it was super fun watching him feed them. Another great part about this b&b is drinks and snacks are free!!!! I liked the breakfasts but my hubbys super picky.Hes more of a pancake guy and anything fancier is suspicious to him. All and all even with the the awkwardness in the beginning we had an amazing time. We would go back!!!! read more
