Arriving late,wrong measurements,months to give us a 100% finished project. Finally a good looking kitchen that starts to peel paint and looks old in a year. Obviously warranty won't cover anything because they know how to point the fingers back at us. So disappointed,$30000 down the drain. I recommend NOT using this company especially if you want a painted finish!Our new cabinet doors and drawers began chipping and peeling almost immediately. The problem has continued and the company will not honor their 5-year warranty. Because the finish does not hold up I believe the problem is in the company's manufacturing process that appears to impact the primer adhesion and quality of the Sherwin Williams paint they tout. By comparison, we have professionally applied Sherwin Williams paint on every paintable interior/exterior surface of our home including trim, walls, doors, and bathroom cabinets without the performance issues we have in the kitchen installation done by Cabinet Cures. We were accused of "abusing" our cabinets by their production manager who would not travel to Salem to further access the continuing problem. We are a retired couple that uses our kitchen very lightly and we keep our home in excellent condition. Their "abuse"claim is ludicrous. This was a waste of $18,000! read more

This is my second project with CC. I kept the same kitchen configuration except for relocating my refrigerator and having new cabinets built and installed where the fridge used to be. Everything came out to my satisfaction and then some. The owners communicated with me throughout the process and quickly resolved a few issues along the way. Very professional and talented staff. We did a full kitchen remodel over the summer. I played the role of "general contractor" and we worked with 9 different subcontractors on different parts of the project. Without a doubt...the most painful contractor to work with was Cabinet Cures. When you walk into our kitchen the cabinets project looks good on the surface (which is why they received 2 stars vs. 1). However, the horrific level of service and the amount of begging we had to do to get the project completed was unacceptable. We were introduced to Cabinet Cures through the Home & Garden Show in the spring of 2018. Julia (Jules) is the design consultant who we scheduled to do the initial bid. I took time off work to meet with her....nearly 30 minutes after she was scheduled to arrive she finally pulled up. No phone call about running late....and when she came in...no apology for being late (and it wasn't just a few minutes). In a day and age with phone access it's easy enough to call someone to give them a heads up. It wasn't even about her being late that was frustrating...it was that she didn't care about being late. Jules then invited us to the showroom and she provided me the hours. She indicated when she knows a client is coming in on a Sat. she's usually there between 10am and Noon. I checked our schedule and emailed her we'd be there on the coming Sat. at 11am so we could look at the showroom and she confirmed she'd be there. We went in on that Sat....Jules was a no show. Not the end of the world as there was another designer there and we simply wanted to browse. However, a pattern was now in place between her being nearly 30 minutes late to the initial appt. (with no apology) and then not being at the show room for potential clients when she said she would be. Next debacle....we put our down payment down and booked a week in advance to meet with Jules on a different Saturday at 10am. We had a full weekend of things going on and time blocked that time specifically to meet with her. On the Friday before our appt. (less than 24 hours) with her she sent an email (a phone call was obviously TOO inconvenient for her to make) and she stated "I need to reschedule our appt. Saturday as something has come up". I responded, "If you can't be there, that's fine. We're happy to start working with another design consultant. We will still be there at 10am tomorrow as it doesn't work with our schedule to do a different time." Jules response "If we must meet this Saturday I'll be there". (Excuse me? If we "must"?) Fast forward - cabinets were installed in about 4 days (which was 1 day shorter than they had quoted). Very nice surprise. When walking into the kitchen the cabinet refacing looked great! But when looking more closely at the "details"...tons of issues. Missing veneer strips, kick boards/base boards 1/4" inch short of covering previous ones, trim work not cut correctly to contour the wall around the cabinets, nail heads visible, etc. I met with the installer supervisor and did a walk through. According to him the owner would not authorize several things as it's up to "company standards". My response "when spending nearly $10k on a project what's more important? Company standards or the customers standards?" If I was trying to get additional work out of them for free....I absolutely get being stingy. But that was far from the case. After following up with them 5 times to get the punch list done they finally got most of them done...6 weeks after the initial portion of the project completed (kick boards still are not fully covering the previous kick boards...extremely tacky!!!!!). Jules then came and did a final walk through with my wife. Apparently Jules thought that arriving late (again) and wearing "clubbing attire" (overly tight and torn jeans with stiletto heals, etc.) was appropriate professional attire when meeting with clients in their home. We finally signed off on the project and paid the remaining amount due. But we are far from happy with the level of professionalism or the extremely poor customer service we experienced along the way. We are still disappointed there appears to be zero concern about the "details" when we made all of our payments on time and paid nearly $10k for a very "average" job. My belief is it is a direct reflection of the company ownership (especially based on what was shared by the lead installer when creating the punch list of things to be addressed). There are better options available for people to select for this sort of a large ticket project item. Don't be sucked in by a "good price" and sacrifice being treated in a professional and respectful manner. It's simply not worth the stress. read more

We knew we wanted "light and airy" but she really helped us bring that to life with her assistance in choosing colors, counters, backsplash, and hardware...along with answering the million questions we had along the way as first time remodelers. She has a great eye for choosing things we liked and was so patient with us. I highly recommend Cabinet Cures of Portland for their craftsmanship, quality of products, and customer care. Our kitchen has been completely transformed, and because they use 1/4 inch wood skins, rather than glued on veneer, you would never guess that they weren't new cabinets. Our kitchen was looking very dated and tired, varnished oak cabinets and doors, so we looked into the best way to have them updated. As we had granite countertops which didn't need replacing, we looked at several companies for a bid who specialize in cabinet refacing. We researched Cabinet Cures, they have several helpful videos on Youtube, their attention to detail and quality of in-house finishing of their products demonstrated to us that these guys know their stuff, and gave us the confidence to let them handle the job. Although theirs was not necessarily the cheapest bid we received, the big decider was the solid wood skins they use (no veneer), and the quality of finish of their products. We felt it was well worth paying just a little more investing in the best quality finish we could find. We were not disappointed, the maple espresso finish we decided on for our kitchen is a high quality look. The 1/4 inch maple wood skins which cover all outside surfaces look naturally grained, and match the maple doors and drawer fronts beautifully, and the espresso finish has a satin look (not shiny) clear coat for protection, which seems to be a tough hard wearing finish and easily cleanable with a sponge and water, no wood treatment or special cleaner needed. On the insides of the door openings, edge-banding is used with the same wood finish, which completes the illusion that the cabinet fronts are solid pieces of wood. None of the other companies we approached offered such a complete refacing product, which I think this makes Cabinet Cures stand out from the crowd in this industry. Our fitters were Jessie and Emilio, who did an outstanding job with the installation. Everything lined up beautifully, and the cuts and joints were clean and tight, I am a perfectionist in this regard but they fully met my expectations. Any visible joints or brad pins are carefully finished with putty and matched wood stain, so an "invisible" installation. We converted 2 lower cupboards from doors to 3 drawers for, which is a very useful and cost effective conversion to do whilst the cabinets are being updated. We also had 4 fixed shelves in the pantry cupboard converted to 4 pull out shelves. These simple conversions brought our storage into the 21st century and I would really recommend considering having these done, it has increased our available storage significantly, whilst at the same time saving our backs, no more stooping and reaching to the back of cupboards for heavy pots/pans, access is so much easier now. Throughout the job, Jessie and Emilio were friendly and polite, and happy to answer any questions or requests, really nice guys. Jessie I believe has been with the company from the beginnings of the company, and his craftsmanship in the detail of moulding and light valance work is plain to see. All in all, we couldn't be happier with the service we got from Cabinet Cures Portland, and do not hesitate to highly recommend them if you are in the market for refacing of your tired cabinets. It has been 6 months, numerous problems, moldings not installed properly- all handles not installed, one cabinet not complete- handles not installed and they won't come finish despite the contract that says they will finish in 5 days. Moldings are falling off- they have ruined our existing cabinets and they left a mess everytime they came and did work. No quality control and they refuse to finish our $38,000+ job! The owner Kelly, is very easy to work with and very accessible. His staff were very pleasant and professional and they went the extra mile to make it look the way we wanted and expected. Like all home remodel projects, something always comes up. We were having them do our solid oak cabinets--I know, travesty--and for whatever reason, someone thought it was ok to just do the exterior of the cabinets, but leave the inside with the original oak...I asked why on earth would someone want just the exterior and not the interior done as well and basically, the excuse was that I didn't ask for that and that it wasn't in the bid. I called the owner Kelly and he took care of it. No additional cost. :) So, in the end, they did the right thing and that is what matters. Would do business with them again. read more

We used Cabinet Cures per the suggestion of our general contractor. WOW ... are we glad we listened!. I cannot tell you how much help Jules was in designing and providing the perfect layout, products, etc. My husband and I had no idea where to begin or what we wanted. Jules did not know us but observed us in our home and came up with a plan. We did change things a couple times due to purchasing appliances, etc., and not once did she seem annoyed or charge us extra for design changes. The installers were super professional, timely and did a wonderful job. I would also like to add that EVERY single person who has entered our home (mostly professional construction folks) have commented how beautiful and what great craftsmanship! Jules is not only good at designing the layout, but she is wonderful with other aspects of creating the perfect overall design. d.b.a. Cabinet Crooks...promised what they couldn't deliver, when asked to do it right they always wanted more money, etc. They tried to get full payment before the job was finished. I refused until the job was complete, per the contract. At which point, they threatened to put a lean on my house. When that failed to work, they told their workers to reenter my house and take my cabinet doors and drawers to use as leverage to get the money out of me before the job was finished. I locked them out. I then got a series of threatening calls from their bosses. They tried to bully the money out of me; then stick me with an incomplete job. I believe that they were having trouble paying their workers before payday and needed the money. After a long struggle I was able to get them to finish. But it was very stressful and way over the deadline. As a side note, I've been advised in the future to consider installing new cabinets. If you have a granite counter top you want to save it might be best to refinish your cabinets...If workers try to pull the granite it will most likely break. Otherwise it costs about the same to get brand new cabinets. read more

We also had a similar situation as Mike T. And experienced the same feeling. We spent a fortune here having an entire large kitchen and three bathrooms done. It looked great when first completed however some of the staining on the island looks incomplete or worn/faded, some of the finish on the kitchen drawers has chipped off and all the rubber nubs on the "slow close drawers" work their way exposed or flat out on to the floor. So we have to move them frequently to avoid our drawers from looking tacky. Also after a year when we went to have the new counters set we realized that the bathroom counter height was not raised like asked so that not only pushed our project out we had to explain to the tech how to do it correctly to support a counter. There will be no customer loyalty or customer service with this bunch. After having all that work completed and have paid all that money to this company you would think that they would appreciate some repeat business and take care of the customer. Yeah well just the opposite, how about take advantage?! In the original quote I had considered replacing four small doors in the bathroom on a wall behind the entry door. At first I wanted to paint them but after a year I decided I wanted them to match the new vanity cabinet doors. The first quote was five hundred (slow close hinges, installed) then when I contacted them later I asked for just the doors no slow close hinges, no installation, just the doors and it went UP to 775. I wrote them stating that this must be a mistake and I was told I got a 50% discount if I would have done it with the original job. So not only does the math of 50% not work out I was literally offering to pick up four single doors, no hinges and install them myself and it was going to cost me 300 more. Beware their costs have no formula, its just how much can they get and what can they get away with. read more
