When you aren't in the mood for a burrito bomb extending your stomach way past your normal waistline, they offer a Burrito Bowl completel with chicken fajita, brown rice, baja beans, cilantro, cheese, chipotle crema, mango pico, and guacamole. If reading the perfect medley of ingredients wasn't enough, let me just say they are each a proportionate addition to the dish and the sum is greater than the parts. Though the parts are pretty darn fresh and quality. Especially that chipotle crema. So tangy and zesty and not overbearing. The bowl is robust and each flavor profile shines while co-existing with all the fun stuff happening. The chicken is fresh and if you really are hankering for a big ol' 'ritto. They have tortillas made fresh right in front of you. The assembly line is a well-oiled machine that gets you your food fast, unless you want to sit and enjoy your time at Cabo Bob's - they do have a nice patio for when the weather is nice. When I moved to Austin after 20 years in SoCal I had a list of things I really missed that I wished I could get here in my new hometown. Thru the years that list has been whittled down...In 'n Out Burger, Trader Joe's, NY/NJ style pizza, etc. These days only two things elude me - authentic SoCal Baja-style fish tacos and SoCal style Machaca con Huevos burritos. There are plenty of good restaurants around that serve fish tacos and some of them are really tasty but they're not like the tacos I came to love back in San Diego. It took me 18 years to find 'da kind... Taking my cue from their Yelp review and their online menu I made my way over to Cabo Bob's on Shoal Creek Rd. the other day and for the first time I was not disappointed. Their #3 Baja Fish Taco plate (three) was as close to the fish tacos I left behind as I could wish for - fresh, soft corn tortillas, crispy fish with onions, picante, shredded cabbage and a sauce that was really close to what I remembered. These tacos tasted so fine to this ex-SoCal boy it totally made my day. But that's not all. I could see most everyone else was opting for their burritos which are prodigious and made with fresh-pressed flour tortillas and a long line of fresh-looking ingredients similar to Chipotle and Freebirds, looking every bit as good and tasty as can be. I've been missing my Baja favorites for so long that those Fish Tacos will be my first choice for a while but I will surely find one of these monstrous burritos on my plate soon enough. If only they had Machaca con Huevos burritos as well, Cabo Bob's would have crossed off everything left on my list. We love Cabo Bob's so hard. It is DELICIOUS and LOCAL. What more can you ask for? We don't tray far from the fish tacos. The are on par with any taco in Austin. Kid you not. The tortillas are VERY good (this is Torchy's downfall, they have garbage tortillas at Trochy's). The ingredients all have been delicious. NEXT LEVEL CHIPS. Thick, tostada-like chips, and pretty good queso for a fast-causal joint! The kid's menu items are sizable, which I really appreciate with a hungry 2 year-old. Fun fact, they do awesome catering. Great service. Was impressed with the staff and their suggestions and accommodations to make sure my kids got something they liked. I love how they make the tortillas to order and willing to even combo a few flavors for the guest in front of us. Enjoyed the taste of almost everything. The only disappointment was in their selection of fish: TILAPIA! Hang Ten! The surfs up at Cabo Bob's third Austin location on the corner of Anderson Lane and Shoal Creek. This is quality fast food, in a relaxed stress free California good vibrations atmosphere. They claim to have the best burritos and fish tacos in town. We have tons of Tex-Mex, but burritos and Fish Tacos are a rare find in these parts. When I walked in I was reminded of joints like Chipotle and Qudoba's. I almost walked out. The concept is the same, but the experience is even better. First of all, there were numerous people in line to help you, and each one asked me how I was. I wasn't expecting that. They waited for me to even answer! Talk about friendly. I have been down in the dumps these depressing dark Austin days, and their passion was like sunshine to my soul, they made me smile! That's saying a lot this month. They have a fun spacious seating area inside, and a neat outdoor patio. They also have a couple of large TV Screens. You need to walk around the inner seating area to get to the start of the line. You will walk by the bottled soda's you can grab out of the ice chests, or wait to fill up a glass with one of their high fructose corn syrup free sodas from Dublin Bottling Company. This is always an easy sign to me that this place believes in quality fresh ingredients. Everything here seemed freshly made from quality ingredients. I wish I could have tortillas. They have some unique in house made flavored tortillas that looked amazing for the burritos. Don't fear. This place welcomes food sensitive folk. They have so many different options to choose from. It is overwhelming, except the friendly people all made it easier. You can really build your dream here. A bowl with rice or salad, tacos, nachos, or burritos. Dream it, they will make it. Once you pick a base, then you are on to beans. They have three different bean options! Black, Pinto, or Baja Beans (Sautéed veggies and four unique types of Beans; Anasazi, Cargamanto, Navy and Black). I opted for Black to go with my greens. On to protein. Their meat options are Bacon & Ground Beef, Chicken Fajita, Shredded Pork, Sautéed Veggies, Crispy Fish, and Steak Fajita. The chicken is fresh, never frozen. The Steak looked amazing. Reason why? They use a green egg and natural oak charcoal to cook it! It tastes as amazing as it looks. I don't know if I will even be able to try the other options now that I have had the flavorful moist steak. The steak is also cut from the sirloin section of an Angus cow. Yep. Amazing. You can add additional protein or sautéed veggies for an upcharge. Next, are all the different toppings and sauces. The sauces and guacamole are made in house fresh each day. The guacamole is another small upcharge. But it's yummy! I added on some of their delicious queso; yes for an upcharge of course. So I've been here twice since opening and I realized I forgot to review them. Well, here goes. After one hiccup on my first visit to the Rio Grande location, I've always been a fan. The staff is always pleasant and the food is always good. But the Rio Grande location gets to be a bit of a madhouse. Between that and living less than ten minutes from the Shoal Creek location, I've been eagerly awaiting this opening. And guess what? It's every bit as good as the other locations. Yes, it's a burrito. Yes, you can get a burrito from several larger chains. But no, you won't get a burrito from a locally owned business whose staff and management actually care. I've never had a bad meal at Cabo Bob's and I've never had a special request they couldn't handle? Ask to combine meats and you'll get asked if you want a combination or if you want a double order of meats. Ask to get an extra side of salsa? Sure, no problem. As for the food, it's always stellar. And the "66 Red Extra Hot" sauce is an object of my dreams of spicy food. It's close to insanely hot yet still has flavor and adds flavor to each and every bite. I was absolutely shocked to find out this place was Local. I mean, it looks like it is designed to be a mass produced chain of mediocre crap that spreads across the nation. The design and aesthetic is super corporate and mass produced. Having said that, I appreciate Cabo Bob's for what it is. It's a very cheap, and very large, decent meal. It's not much different than Chipotle, Freebirds, or any other Fast Casual burrito place. The thing I liked best was that the tortillas are smashed and heated per order, so you know it's pretty fresh. That's kinda rad. The toppings were good, the meat was solid, the staff was friendly and quick. There's really nothing to complain about. It's a solid cheap burrito that feels like it really wants to go national. I have been visiting Cabo Bob's since they were only on Ben White. They have steadily made their way north over the last few years. I'm so happy they opened by my house! Basically you can get the fattest burrito with a delicious, fresh tortilla for $7-8. They have punch cards so that you get a free entree after purchasing 6. Unlike other restaurants with rewards programs they make a point of asking you about your punch card when you pay, so you don't forget. The value is phenomenal. The only problem with Cabo Bob's is they are not open on Sundays. :( read more

Love Cabo bobs they have a home run of a product and are of much better quality than their competitors But my one gripe is if I order guacamole on my dish, I expect it to be more then a spoonful of guac. I mean a table spoon of guac was put on my bowl and spread thinly , it took maybe 2 bites to wonder where the rest of my extra charge guac was.. Like I understand it's probably hard to turn a profit on guac because avocados are so damn expensive but come on at least raise the price of the extra guac to justify actually putting guac on the dish or take it off the menu because a table spoon of guac ain't cutting it chief. FINALLY! Cabo Bob's is open "up north". I say this because my love affair with this place started at their south Austin location (near 35 and Ben White). Drove down Anderson Lane on Tuesday and noticed their sign, and had to stop. Turns out, it was the first day open! I know a lot of people think "T's" (leaving out the orchy part) is some sort of life changing burrito. I'm sorry, its not. A Cabo Bob's burrito is. You can tell when you walk in the door--bright, clean, decorated and themed incredibly well. Tortillas don't come from a bag or a truck, they are fresh made daily and are just dough when you walk in, then pressed and cooked as you order. The meats are fresh, tender, and delicious. The ingredients are all fresh and the food temperature is perfect. Add their fresh made chips (again, not mass produced and delivered in a garbage bag but actually cooked fresh daily on site) and queso and a fountain drink and you're in for an amazing lunch or dinner. The prices are insanely low compared to the previously mentioned joint. Three fajita tacos here will set you back $7. Up the street, I paid double. I really want a surfboard table for my condo. The new location at Shoal Creek and Anderson Ln. is my go to spot for lunch. I really like the selection of food items, the choices in soft drinks are all local brands, and the customer service is awesome. They get really busy at noon to one so I usually order online unless I go early or late. The owners are involved in their business and you know their number one priority is customer satisfaction. Their power was out one day and they were in the parking lot passing out free entree cards for the inconvenience. Truly a wonderful example of going above and beyond. Their rewards program is really great, every sixth visit is a free entree. Needless to say I am always happy with my visits there. They also carry crispy white fish and vegan options for those who are looking for that. read more

Dining areas are comfortable and inviting, but we did takeout, which was convenient and competent. Kid got chicken, pinto bean, and cheese quesadilla-style and genuinely loved it. Excellent surprise for both of us! Guacamole is picky-kid-approved. When I got to enjoy my #7 (best steak burrito) in the ancho tortilla, every bite was flavourful and the perfect texture. Today a co-worker and I had the opportunity to have lunch at Cabo Bob's. It was FANTASTIC! The facility was clean and the staff at every point was ready to help and they were very friendly and very respectful! The food was excellent! The line moved forward with lightening speed. This was my first visit ever to Cabo Bob's and I tried three (3) different tortillas and different meats on my taco's. Each of them was totally delicious! I am a larger person with a large appetite and I departed full as the portion sizes are good and they piled on the meat! I have the opinion after today's experience that you can find nearly every combination of taco's, burritos, nacho's here! I had the opportunity to meet the owner as they had a promotion going on outside. What a wonderful person he is. I told him this was a first experience and he shared with me the other locations including that the team just opened a location in the Lakeline area. High marks in every category! This place used to be THE BEST! However, they just got a lot of new staff and one young female in particular was so rude it was actually astonishing. The rice has been crunchy more often than not I recommend this place for an affordable and delicious meal. I had high hopes here, and honestly, they didn't do too badly! We came around Sunday brunch time, a wee bit hungover from birthday celebrations the night before. For some reason, it was screaming kid hour, which was totally not their fault, but maybe avoid that time slot if your head is pounding. :) We waited in line, and got to pick our tortillas (flour are made fresh, and looked amazing, corn are just from a package, but my healthiness masochism made me get corn...). Then, you got to pick your meat and sift through a bunch of different toppings and sauces before they rang you up and sent you on your way to eat. Everything was fresh and tasty and I enjoyed the selection. Why the three stars? Two reasons. They had about 10 people on the line putting together orders and they kept making mistakes and tripping over each other and honestly, it took about twice as long because of it. Chipotle can get it done with like 3 people during a rush and it takes just a minute. I think it took about 10 minutes from my order until my tacos were assembled. Second, I wasn't a big fan of their house hot sauces. One was sweet, the other was just hot without much other flavor. Their SALSAS were great though. Now THIS is the Cabo Bob's I know!!! This is the way I Love My Burrito!!! Unfortunately the last time I ordered from here it did not come out the way I ordered online. Like I said last time, there could've been soo many different things that could've happened to have had my order come out wrong. But in the end, it was still good. Just not the way I would've liked it... Well the owner reached out and acknowledged the situation and invited me back to correct it... I went today and got the burrito My way and I was lucky enough to meet him today as well. He is very sweet and definitely a person who wants to make sure his customers are happy. We talked about what had happened last time and I had mentioned that I did order through the FAVOR Delivery App and he had mentioned that with doing that, that's where the problem could've been as well. That it is better to order on THEIR site rather than a delivery service. Which I can Completely understand. Like I told him, this was my first time ordering through that service from them. I honestly prefer to go inside and order. Not just because I see everything being made, but it's the staff as well. They're awesome people and I love when I get to see familiar staff members. Yesterday was my first time at acabo Bob's. My daughter loves it so I thought I'd give it a try. The first person who helped me was very, very friendly, nice and helpful. He explained the ordering process and even encouraged me to try different meats. I went all out and even tried different tortillas. The lady in the middle area was also very helpful and nice. I didn't realize there were so many choices to choose from. I ordered nachos and a 3 taco order. All looked so yummy. The cashier was also very nice. Over all the food was soooo good, so good. The reason I'm giving it 3 stars is because The plastic containers and plastic cups being used are very wasteful. Although I ate there, I was still served in a to go container. I understand perhaps is being done due to covid but many dine in restaurants are using their own dishes. As I approached the trash can, I saw many plastic containers just trashed along with the plastic cups. It's so sad to see trash piling up in nothing but plastic. Food is really good, decent for the price. Their chipotle crema is always so good. Service is a whole other story. There is one lady, I don't know if she's just always having an awful day; but every time I go she always harasses me and gives me some kind of stink eye. I ordered like normal, got berated over toppings when I asked for some pico de gallo (I repeated myself because I don't think she heard me or she ignored me), and then she told the cashier that I ordered double meat when I didn't, and it got to the point the cashier and this lady were arguing and me telling them to feel free to open my burrito to check for themselves. She's very condescending when I ask for toppings or just being plain rude. I think her tag said Veronica, but this person clearly does not understand customer service. I went there twice the last couple of days. On Saturday they were extremely busy, and I had to wait about 20 minutes to get my food. The problem with that was we tried to call and place an order but apparently, they don't take calls over the phone and do not even bother to answer when you call. We weren't by a computer, so we had to go in and pick it up. The second time I went in there which was today. We tried to call again to place an order, and no one answered. There was a much shorter line. But I ended up waiting almost half an hour to place an order because apparently, they were taking care of to-go orders coming in first over the internet as opposed to customers waiting. By the time I left there was a line almost to the door. Don't get me wrong though, the food in there is very good, but they just don't know how to run things properly. I know there are a lot of staffing shortages, but it sure did not look like they were short-staffed in there. There or two other issues. First, there was someone on their food line who was not wearing a mask, which is inexcusable with what's going on right now? The second problem was after I got home with the order one of the burritos was missing. So, I had to drive all the way back and try and get another one. The lady was nice but told me I would have to wait 10 minutes to get a replacement. I didn't feel I should have to, so I just told her to forget it. When you mistake an order like that, she should have put me at the front and told them to do it right away. I just really doubt I'll go back. Again, the food is very good but the customer service and the way they are set up to serve is just inexcusably bad. read more

I saw bad reviews on grubhub about how careless they were with their orders, but I thought, "That could just be a grubhub issue; maybe it will be better if I order directly from their website and pick it up myself." Nope. They left all of our salsas and sauces and limes out of the order, so my fish tacos, which I was so looking forward to, were just fish and cabbage on a tortilla. BLAH! And I'm stuck with 2 more I'll have to doctor up on my own to make them edible. We got a veggie bowl too, which was also missing its sauces. The squash was bitter and the poblanos tasted weird. So I come in around half an hour before closing and immediately already felt unwanted by the employees. I start ordering and while the girl attending me was getting ready, this guy near her is on his phone waiting while I get ready to order and already knew this was a red flag. The first girl was nice and sweet but as soon as I get to the other station with another girl, she's already annoyed by attending me and at the end of my order she says "is that all?" while rolling her eyes. I would love to give this restaurant 5 stars. The food is always very fresh. The line moves quickly. It's clean inside and there is plenty of seating in and out. The vibe is super cool and relaxed....like I should have a surfboard with me. If I go during lunchtime or soon thereafter, the staff is friendly and gives great service, even during a rush. Unfortunately, the last two times I've been it's been during late afternoon/evening and the staff just doesn't seem quite the same. They are put off, put together my bowl sloppily and rush you through the line. Both times I've felt shorted on something (lettuce,cheese...or whatever) and when I've asked for a little more I get a twinge of and eye roll and annoyance from them. It's keeping me from going there when I'm in the mood for it in the evening. If you're hungry for a great lunch go here!! Maybe find another location if it's evening time. read more

This is a fantastic option for burritos in Austin. Quality ingredients and too many options to chose from. The grilled chicken and beef are seasoned well and very tasty.
