We love this place!! The location seems a little sketch heading back toward industrial shops/stores - but it's so great. They have great beers and a fantastic Moscow mule! Caboose also plays country music which creates the best vibe for a chill night with friends. Food was pretty good - got the Nordic pretzel and sweet potato fries. I wish you could order a gallon of the maple bacon aioli - seriously one of the best sauces I've ever had. The staff here is so pleasant and flexible - Grace even gave us a mixture of 2 beers for a little tasting that was delicious - and I usually don't like beer. Go here! So good!! read more

Thrilled to have a brewpub in Vienna! I tried the Hefeweizen, Brown Ale, IPA, and Stout. All were really tasty. The brewery is already dialed in!! The menu all looks fresh and tasty. Lots of fresh and local ingredients. The staff were welcoming and eager to help with any requests. The dining area is cozy and not too loud. I look forward to hanging at the bar or on the patio. God, this beer is good! I'd drink three or four but the Vienna police have me too scared for anymore than two. The burger is delicious and huge enough to share. That's good as its $15. Same for the kale salad, which again is huge and $11. Same for the cheese appetizer which are only about $5. The pork tenderloin and peaches ($15) was tasty. I was having second thoughts as we drove down a forlorn access road to an industrial zone hidden away in Vienna. But walking into Caboose made it worth the effort to find. A bright, cheery, well designed space with the brewery visible through huge plate glass windows behind the bar. Impressive! We were greeted by a friendly person, who allowed us to select our table, though the place was far from empty. We went over the beer selection and with the advice of our friendly waiter, made our selections. The menu of locally sourced food made our mouth water! It's a "small plates" concept. And each plate is just about enough for two people. We started with the appetizer board of cheeses, spreads, fruit, pickles, and a delicious, crispy, nutty flatbread. It was a nice sized portion for two men with healthy appetites. Each thing on the board was fresh, flavorful, with generous portions. There was a salmon spread that was amazing! We asked for more flatbread, which was brought immediately. We then went on to an order of the best homecut fries I've had in a long time, presented with homemade ketchup, followed by a chicken pot pie that was chock full of chicken breast meat and vegetables in a sauce that was more like a thickened broth than your typical gooey pot pie filling. I had one beer sampler and my husband had the IPA sampler. We liked all the beers, but the IPA sampler fell a little flat (many tasted the same). We really liked the gnocchi and Mac n cheese dishes. Top notch beers but I agree with other reviewers about the food side of things. For one they have limited food hours which seems odd considering the place is jammed every time I go there. And they have limited seating in the bar area. There's maybe 2 dozen bar stools and a bunch of rails to stand at. My wife and I have visited probably a dozen times and on a few occasions grabbed a beer and a growler refill then left because there was no place to sit. That being said, if you can score a table outside, one of their many excellent beers and sample their very good food this place is a hands down winner! read more

We've been waiting for this place to open for a while now. It's right off of the WO&D trail so we already have plans to run up there at some point and grab a beer! We were also hoping that this place will also open a bit earlier in the day at some point for lunch, as we do most of our breweries/wineries during the day when we are out with family or showing people around town when they come and visit. Right now it's 4pm. The beer) we really liked the beer. I'm getting more and more into micro brews. I like lighter beer and they have a good Saison and Hefeweizen. I'm not a dark beer drinker or IPA drinker, but my husband liked those.The Citra Wheat I was expecting a wheat citrus flavor but did not get that at all, I'm not an expert so maybe that's not what I was supposed to get. We frequent Mad Fox and I remember not loving them at first, but now they are one of our fav's, so we are gonna give this place some time and keep going back to support them! The food) we got the baked mac and cheese for the kids (yum!), the crab hush puppies, the fries and the pork belly. I do not like pork, but this was awesome! It was smoky and tender OMG...so good! Keep this on the menu guys and don't change it! The portion was perfect too! The crab hush puppies were OK the mustard sauce with those made them better and sprinkling crab on top. Just get the Mac and cheese..the kids didn't love it because it was baked but it's awesome! I want to try the deviled eggs next time and then cheese plate. The staff was SO friendly and be prepared the eating area is small, you may have to wait, but there is a nice outdoor area and they seem to be kid friendly which is key for us. A great beer selection. There's something for everyone. I tasted 6 of their drafts. Off the top of my head, I believe they had about 10 beers on tap. Really good selection of beers, with some of the best food I've ever had in a brewery. A tiny bit on the pricey side for bar food, but worth it. Definitely try the chicken liver mousse and the cod chowder. IPAs are definitely their wheelhouse - the Car Hopper, the Bandwagon and the Local Motion are all awesome. read more

My band played a private party at Caboose. Nice atmosphere. Great beer. I drink a lot of Vienna lager and blue moon style beer. I was expecting sub par but I was pleasantly surprised in the taste of the beer. Service was good too. My complaint is the location in an industrial center and the entrance is hidden. read more

As a Vienna native for nearly 20 years, I'm mad at myself for not coming here sooner (yes I know it has been around for only a little while). I didn't make it inside BECAUSE, it was pup night so I brought my bully around to the patio which was so cute with little tables and string lights. I didn't eat or order more than just one citrus IPA but I was happy with the beer, the service, the crowd...and ALL THE PUPPIES. Cool hideaway pub with good beers. Waitress asked if I had reservations... I quickly scanned the room which had three customers, really?? We were seated and told they had a small plate menu. I discovered this means they charge big plate prices for putting the food in small bowls. We ordered the $22.00 cheese plate appetizer, which came with two small wedges of cheese, some liver, gourmet pickels and flat bread. This was a huge waste of $22.00. Came here for coffee. The layout was very cool and I hoped for the best. It was not crowded, but service was very slow. I kept going up to the barista asking for my coffee and the barista kept saying it was being made. It probably took about 20-25 minutes to get my $4.50 latte and when I finally received it, it had a burned taste. read more

After visiting here twice, I can say that service can be pretty sketchy. When I'm at the bar I feel like I have to visibly stare down a bar tender to get service. I know people are busy but it would be nice to at least get some acknowledgement. Service outside isn't much better. However, the food and beer have been consistently good. Got the Butcher Board Sampler last time which was great after a ride in the W&OD. I'll be back but hopefully the wait staff will improve so I can give 5 stars. read more

I was very excited to visit Caboose Brewing Company. When my friend and I arrived it was a little chaotic but I could tell they just had a rush of people come in at once. The staff was enthusiastic and friendly. Because this is a brewery, I will start with the beer. I sampled the flight and each of the beers were interesting. They were the standards you find at most breweries with punny names to accent the caboose theme. Our server explained the menu, stating how everything is local, freshly made and meant for sharing which is what most people want to hear, right? But when our $14 order of 5 chicken wings arrived I was expecting the most amazing wings of my life. This was not the case at all. They were warm at best, and the portion size was unacceptable for the price. The same was true for the mac n cheese, and donut holes. Northern Virginia is bursting with breweries and nice restaurant. I can understand the concept of both but in the case of Caboose Brewing Co I have to say I was disappointed. I would return to fill a growler but I have to say that I could not return for the food. This place is not a location for a restaurant, but a place for people to stop and enjoy bar food as a break from the W&OD. Hopefully as this place becomes more established they work out the kinks. read more

We just tried Caboose last night with friends and had a great time! The beer was delicious, the food was very well done and the service was above average. The place is tucked all the way down the street, which confused our uber driver, but we found it with little to no trouble. We ordered all the small plates to share between six people and it was the perfect amount of food. Some stand outs were the brussel sprouts, cauliflower, kale salad, pork belly and salmon tartar. Desserts were a bit disappointing, but also not their specialty. Love that all the food is locally sourced. Will definitely be back! read more

My wife and I came to Caboose one Sunday for lunch and were completely blown away by the great service, excellent food and solid beer. In fact, I really consider their beers some of the best in the area - most likely due to their brewer's previous experience working with one of the area's larger, widely-distributed and well-established breweries. For lunch, my wife went with an assortment of small plates. She ordered their cheese board, which came with some honey comb and crispy crackers. Everything worked well together, and the board itself was a great value. She also ordered their Brussel sprouts, which were very, very good. They managed to balance the somewhat bitter flavor of the crispy sprouts with some balsamic, goat cheese and pine nuts - absolutely delicious. I ordered the pot pie. This - although good - was the most disappointing dish we tried. The pie filling could have been thickened up a bit and slightly better seasoned, but it was still tasty and I finished the whole thing. And then there's the beer. Oh man...the beer. And...let's be honest...that's what really matters here! The IPAs were well balanced and crisp, countering the resinous, piney hop flavors with good malt sweetness and juicier, citrusy hop notes. The Hobo Stout with vanilla was delicious, with just the right amount of sweetness and the thick, milky mouth-feel I prefer in my stouts (I took home two bottles). Even the Berliner Weiss was well made and completely drinkable, and I tend to dislike most sours. The staff was friendly, knowledgeable and very welcoming. They were busy, but still took the time to take us around their impressive - albeit tiny - brew house. I don't make it out to Vienna often, but I'm looking for an excuse just to go back to Caboose. Good food, great beer and very nice people...well worth the trip. read more

Great beers and good tasting food. It seems the normal customers come off the bike path so the plates of food are small snacks. Nothing that we noticed that looked like a burger or sandwich. Excellent for beer and ambiance. Food is mostly good. One comment on the beet salad, please refine or remove from menu. Being a lover of beet salads, I gave this one a chance twice, but both times, underwhelmed and ever so disappointed. Roast the beets! Maybe pickle it? Use different varieties/colors of beets? If the chef can do something more with it than tossing a few boiled pieces of beets with a huge pile of arugula, that would be great. Highlight should be on the beets. Until then, it's more of sad arugula salad than anything else. Also, 4 stars because price is too high for amount of food you actually get. read more

I seriously love this place- the food is truly farm to table and hight quality. I have visited quite a few times and have loved everything. Scallops, shrimp and grits the crab cakes, the burger, pork belly, kale salad, etc. Are some of my faves. The menu is different almost every time I go in. It's a season based menu and I like that. Having the refreshing cucumber saison right now and really loving it! I also like the hobo stout, boxcar brown, Vienna lager, the rye ipa is also one of my faves. Before they opened I was buying hardywood on the reg.... But now I support my local, amazing brew house! (Although I do still love hardwood) . :) I highly recommend this new gem of a place. read more

All in all, one of the better local breweries I've been to. Spacious, fun art, a friendly hostess.... bar seating is very, very limited, and for a brewery, they have more of a dedication to a table atmosphere than bar atmosphere. Weird, but still, one of the best interiors I've seen for a brewery based off the art/lighting. There's a fun outdoor area where we stood and waited with our beers to be seated. I do wish they were more accommodating to a bar-type vibe, which I think is a fair expectation for a brewery... they could at least put seats at the upstairs bar rather than making it a small table-seating space. If they're going for more a restaurant thang, well hon, check yourself on prices and portions.... coming up in the following paragraph Beer was alright, friend had Boxcar and Chocolate Milk Stout and said they were about the exact same to each other taste-wise, and that the IPA was just fine. The big issue is the food. While delicious, the prices were incredibly exorbitant for the portions. The waiter mentioned the food was, "tapas," style, but there was no excuse for the very, very meager portions given the prices. Any farm-to-table reasoning doesn't fly with me; coming from the restaurant industry, multiple restaurants in the area, there are a lot of spots around the DMV that source locally without the same incredibly steep prices. Risotto was probably the best deal, albeit essentially served in a plate, still, seemed to be the most volume of food for price. All in all very disappointing, felt so ripped-off given the portions, the enjoyment of the food was destroyed by trying to save it and slowly eat tiny bits of gnubi, individual cauliflower florets, and small forkfuls of risotto before the dishes were left empty. Mac 'n cheese served in a laughable tiny skillet. I can tell you as well, cheese/charcuterie boards were quite overpriced. Try Cheesetique. I'd rather this place just did as other breweries and had some food trucks parked out front. Service was just fine, hostess was very sweet, but wait time estimate was about half of what it wound up actually being. Good thing my pal and I were patiently waiting outside, watching deer and bikers pass by while (slowly) sipping our beers. read more
