Delicious vegan food! Was in the area for work a few weeks ago and felt like eating healthy. I travel for work on a weekly basis and it's difficult to find restaurants that serve fresh and nutritious food. The staff was very helpful and friendly. The entree selection is somewhat limited but the vegan burrito I consumed was pretty great - delicious and perfect for a warm summer afternoon (would definitely return for repeat acts). Our go-to place for anything raw and organic. The staff is awesome and they always prepare very consistent very good tasting meals. All smoothies are great. Bee Green is definitely my favorite. A bit pricey but again.. good and consistent. read more

Amazingly delicious raw, vegan food. The food at Cacao tree will satisfying even the hungriest omnivore, yet is designed with the raw food vegan in mind. Hearty, rich and satisfying dishes and crisp, light and healthy fare make up the delicious culinary treats at Cacao Tree. The service is terrible at best, though. As sweet and lovely as the staff are, efficiency is not their forte. Make sure you have at least an hour and a half for dine-in and a good 30 minutes for a carry out. read more

There are very few instances when I am able to order straight off the menu! I live a gluten free dairy free life. At Cacao Tree Cafe I was able to pick straight of the menu! I ordered the quesadilla and it was magic! The flavor was rich and amazing! While the food seems a bit pricy, the cafe is located in Royal Oak :) also, the quality was outstanding!!! All I can say is YUM, YUM, YUM! This place was amazing. I had the Chicken-less Salad Wrap and my sister had the Quinoa Salad Wrap. The food is high-quality and definitely worth every penny. This is a great place if you are trying out veganism or just want a healthier option. I personally love their breakfast shake and zucchini pasta. This rating is strictly on customer service. These folks never seem to be having a good day. Today, after walking to pick up my salad, I realized they didn't even put the beans on the White Bean Salad. (How do you forget the main ingredient?) I called, no apology, but they said I could walk back to get them, When I walked in, explained what happened, he then asked a male worker, what she should do. He responded, rudely (I'm not sure if it was directed at me or his coworker, either way, it was unnecessary.) to just give me the beans. The woman did apologize as I was leaving. Had the unchix sandwich and a beet juice drink. Very tasty "chix" made from sunflower seeds on a wrap. Gingery beet juice was just the drink on a hot and muggy day. I love this place! I'm still a transitioning carnivore but this place is so good. The soup, especially those cashew cream, mirapiox base soups are so good. For such a new place, this is the top of the line. It's exceptional. They are very busy. If you care at all about eating high quality food in Royal Oak, or nearby, this is the place to go. Cacao Tree is the real deal!! Great food. Raw, vegan options abound to tickle your fancy. Me and Bae tried several juices, wheatgrass shots, quesadilla wrap, and the raw cashew nut meat salad. Also the vegan queso. Everything we tasted was outstanding. Fresh. Real deal. They are sophisticated and know how to treat clientele! Yes I am a raw vegan most of the time, so this place will be a go to for me! The service was great. Unfortunately I have had experience where it seems some unenlightened people are surprised to see raw vegans of color. Time to move into the 21st century for those folks! No such nonsense here. Last time I went I wasn't that into the chocolate tart I had, but I think it was because it was sweetened with xylitol, which was not my fav. Definitely would recommend this to anyone that's in this area. I was in town just for the day for work and even recommended it to my client I met with that day. Enjoyed the adventure, hated the bill! My sister is a sometimey raw-vegan and decided she wanted her family and friends to experience a raw and vegan lunch. Cacao Tree Cafe is small and quaint. I can't imagine what would happen if more than 5 customers showed up and dined at this place - chaos. Suggestion: If you are new to the raw-vegan way of eating, come with friends and share a few items, which is what we did. We had a 1 smoothie, 1 wrap, 1 piece of strawberry cheese cake, 2 small cups of soup, and we shared that among 5 people. We got a chance to sample without having having to rob a bank. The wrap was good and I enjoyed the different flavors, but I felt like it was missing something - chicken (I guess that would not make it vegan or raw :-(). It needed some kind of protein, a different texture...maybe tofu? The Ambros smoothie was good, I thought the mint was a bit strange of a taste - not bad, just strange. The strawberry cheesecake was good, I thought the coconut was not good. I don't like coconut, so maybe that is why I did not like the coconut flavor? Our waiter, Matthew, was excellent. He was very upbeat, knowledgeable, and really excited about sharing his knowledge about eating foods free from pesticides and locally grown. Everything taste fresh and kind of earthy (if you know what I mean) - no processed foods here. Like I mentioned earlier, I enjoyed the adventure, I hated the bill - $36!
