A random showing on my Instagram algorithm tipped me to this place and I have been curious about Venezuelan and Colombian cuisine so I made the trip to this location. Off the bat, the exterior seems kinda plain but the inside the area is themed just like how it would be coming into a brick and mortar South American restaurant. Latin music, treats and snacks from their country. Service was swift, steady and courteous as it took no longer than 5 minutes for my food to reach my table. My lunch for the day was the Grilled Chicken Pabellon Lunch Special, Chicken Empanada, Tequequava and Tamarind juice. When the pabellon got to my table I thought it was a little on the small side but it was surprisingly filling. The Grilled chicken, a bit on the salty side still had taste to it and it was a good mix to go with the rice and beans. I loved the texture of the Empanada I had and the Tequequava (Cheeze & Guava stick) was actually superb. Never thought Mozzarella cheese could mix well with Guava fruit, but it was a solid blend. The Tamarind juice was sweet and savory. That was quite a meal I've ordered yet came just under $30 so everything was reasonably priced. The place is on a seemingly sketchy area of Cypress Hills but it's worth a second visit because the food is good and the menu has a bevy of choices there. read more

I had the crispy chicken sandwich, it was excellent! All the ingredients were fresh and so tasty! I waited for 10 minutes which I thought was relatively quick. I wasn't sure what to get and the staff were very nice and suggested the sandwich and they were spot on! The restaurant inside is cozy and CLEAN! Cachapas, also known as a Venezuelan corn pancake, is really fantastic. The texture is crispy on the outside and soft in the inside and is just wonderful. I got it the beef one delivered to me and it still tasted fantastic- I can only imagine how great it would be right off the grill (I am assuming it is a grill I don't actually know lol). A generous amount of beef was included and the sauces were great as well, especially the green one. I also had a dessert (forgot what it's name is) that has cheese on the inside along with guava pasta and it is pretty tasty as well. Let's see. I walked in after reading the reviews and met Andris at the register. I asked him to advise what he thought I should get upon 1st time in. He advised I try a beef empanada and a shredded chicken cachapas. He said I should try the lemonade also. The set 3 sauces on the table to try and I definitely did even though usually only a hot sauce guy. The empanada was one of the better I've had and when adding the sauces it was terrific. The sauces were all so good that I started mixing with the hot and it set the empanada off. The cachapas, was the best I have ever tried. Absolutely delicious. So good that I had Andris introduce me to Nelly the chef and had to express that her cooking was absolutely fantastic and how happy I was to find the location today. I've had Cachapas Brooklyn bookmarked for a while now and decided to give them a try. I discovered my love for cachapas when I lived in the DC area and went to a food truck called Arepa Zone. I love the savory flavor of the beef with the slightly sweet taste of the corn pancake. It's kind of small inside and I don't think the ventilation is that good because I waited for about ten minutes and I already was smelling like the food. Anyway, I ordered a shredded beef cachapa with a cheese empanada and a passion fruit drink. The cachapa was okay, I never had it with ketchup--that's a no for me. It's not necessary, IMO and it takes away from the sweet corn pancake. The empanada was gross--I didn't even finish it--not worth it. The passion fruit drink was good, I would get that again. I'm on the hype train for Cachapas Brooklyn. This place embodies everything that makes South American food great plus everything that makes a burger great and combines them into delicious sandwiches and dishes. We ordered delivery directly from Cachapas BK. The order was delivered 35 minutes from when the order was placed. That's super fast service. The delivery drive gave us a call when he was around the block and made a quick, covid friendly drop. Easily, one of the best delivery experiences that we've had. Now the food. For better or worse, we certainly over-ordered. One item per person should be sufficient, especially if you order the cachapas. We ordered a yoyo - a sandwich with fried mashed sweet plantains in lieu of bun/bread - filled with lettuce, tomato, a sweet mayo based sauce and your choice of meat/cheese. We had the sandwich Dominican style which included thick slices of salami (pretty similar to thicker kielbasa) with fried cheese. This sandwich was ultra savory! We also had an arepa sandwich filled shredded beefs and the same fixins with the other sandwich. Again, ultra savory. Great crispiness coming from the arepa. Personally, I like the texture of the arepa more about you can't go wrong with either. We also ordered one of their namesake cachapas. We were pretty full by the time we got around to the cachapas but I had a few bites to try it while it was fresh. We had it full style with Venezuelan cheese which featured three shredded meats (beef, chicken, and pork). The shredded pork stands out amongst the meats. It prominently juicy and super savory. I was in the area and starving so I decided to check out Yelp to see what was highly rated nearby. Cachapas immediately caught my eye, specializing in Venezuelan cuisine. I ordered a couple of items including a shredded chicken yoyos (sweet plantain sandwich), mixed meat arepa, and a carne asada Venezuelan style burrito. Everything was delicious however the yoyos were the highlight. The combination of the sweetness from the plantain and the savory shredded chicken was perfect. The green onion and garlic sauce they have is literally crack and I had to add some to every bite. If you come here definitely try one of the yoyos as I've never seen this style of sandwich/arepa before. Service was also super friendly and the place seemed really clean despite the 'B' health rating. Highly recommended if you are in the area and looking for a Latin fix. read more

After reading the reviews about a sweet plantain sandwich I was intrigued and decided to try it for myself. This restaurant was located close to my neighborhood so I took the 10 minute drive as opposed to ordering via grub hub. When we got there it was empty and an older gentleman served us I am assuming he was the owner, the other workers they spoke very little English. We ordered two sweet plantain sandwiches, shredded chicken with everything on it, 1 passion fruit juice, 1 lemonade,and a slice of dulce de leche cake. It took a while for our order to be ready but we saw other people who came in after us recieve their order before us ( I am going to give the restaurant the benefit of the doubt of those orders being placed via telephone before us). We came home and dug in, the food was delicious the chicken was seasoned well, and the added sauces was very tasty. The juices were very tart lol The cake was delicious as well. Never had Venezuelan food before but liked it We were in Brooklyn, NY and nearby Cachapas, so thought we'd try it. We were happy with our meals and liked what we had. I had a steak and chicken chachapa and it was really good. My wife had a sandwich served on a giant plantain as the bun; it's called a yoyo. It was pretty amazing! I knocked off one star (but I would say I would rate them more at like 3.5) cause they forgot our side order of plantains, but we didn't realize it until we had gotten home and started eating. So I only had a 30 minute lunch window so I ordered early. The order came 15 minutes late so this means I only had 10 mins To not eat, nor to but swallow my food. This became a big problem. The delivery person didn't even have it in a hot cold bag he could have at least carried it in a hot cold bag so that when I received it it will be warm temperature what he did not.
