Food is yummy but do not come here without water if your mouth is kinda dry!! I ordered the vegetarian patacon and it was pretty hefty and ample. They were generous with the fillings but I do wish there was a more uniform layer of tomato (or maybe just more tomato) because while my bites without tomato were good, all the bites WITH tomato really elevated and added much needed brightness to the patacon. I wanted to like this place given all of the hype but it just didn't do it for me. reasonable prices, but the food doesn't seem that fresh -- I ordered a salad and the greens came from a huge bag that was on the floor, definitely nott freshly washed. Came here because I saw a tik tok saying they had the best sandwich in the world. I don't agree but definitely top two in the city in my opinion. I got the pabellon patacon. I 1st fell in love with patacon pisao when I found there truck uptown in 202 street many years ago. I'm pregnant and was really craving a great patacon so I traveled all the way downtown and I got there early but waited 20 minutes no problem till 12pm at the time the site says they open but to my dismay they were not. I still waited with my family another 10 minutes but there was no sign of the restaurant opening even at 12:10. No lights on, no food being being prepped and no workers inside, just a cold dark and hollow interior. How disappointing especially being that this is what I was really craving ,so I settled for El Castillo De Jagua down the block which was delicious BTW. With so many food options in the area it is a great shame that this establishment can't open on time and looses its long time customers all because they can't open on time. I like the hearty sandwich but I will try the BLA or another one steak or pulled pork patacon sandwich next time. I got my sandwich to go. Maybe next time I will dine in. But full disclosure the establishment is small but there is dining in stations for parties no more than 2. I would say at most 3 tables for 3 couples. The kitchen takes over most of the space. I met a young lady who had great things to say and mentioned they made the best patacon sandwiches in the NYC and their green sauce was everything. Omg!!! I've had this place on my list for quite sometime. So after a Valentine's Day that was later than the rest ended, lol. I decided to try this place since i was in the area. I got there around 1030 and they close at 11pm. That didn't stop them for turning out an amazing freaking sandwich! The cubano came with roast pork (my fav) sliced thick ham, fried cheese and pickles and it was smothered in a green verde sauce which they had on hand for dipping and was EVERYTHING!!! The sandwich was so big i finished half and the other half I'm about to heat up for breakfast. Absolutely delicious! The service was perfect for it to be late night and they were closing in 30 mins. The cashier was patient, she explained the menu and even brought our food to our tables. They ask for your name when you order, so when she does bring it to you, it's a personal touch. The prices aren't bad. They're actually spot on for the area (LES) and the portion size is worth it. I've paid around $11. I will definitely come back again because i want to try everything lol. One of my favorite places in the LES! I love love the fried cheese that they have and wish I could order it separately. My favorite GoTo is the Cubano which is full of roasted shredded pork, pickles, cheese, ham in between two tostones. It's a huge portion but not an at all unmanageable! Be sure to add all the 3 sauces or at least try a bite with each. Such a guilty pleasure. The yucca fries are also delicious and can be order loaded with onions and green scallions for sharing! They have about 8 seats and 4 tables, and there's options to order via the Qr codes on the table. I have loved this place when they only had their queens location and I still love this place now as the expand and grow. Love to see that happen with unique, phenomenal businesses. Began my love affair with Patacon Pisao during late night work thangs in Queens and they were pure bliss. Whether you order the Cachapas (which I recommend, get them all), or cubano or really anything, it's delicious. One shredded beef Cachapa usually lasts me 2 lunches or one big meal. Also, the prices have obviously increased over the years, but it's reasonable and like I said, this Venezuelan gem is a treasure. I wish I could eat here more, but it is on the heavier side, so I try to limit myself, but it's hard. I recently have been doing delivery from this LES location and it still arrives fresh, hot and once that savory and slight sweet from the cornbread hits you know you've made a right decision. Don't forget to drizzle their sauces of course and the queens location offers tres leches, which was wonderful.
