Craving a quick bite? Tacos are the way to go. We stopped into East Coast Street Tacos located in East New York, Brooklyn. The restaurant has indoor and outdoor seating. Since it was a bit humid, we chose to eat inside. The colorful interior and zinc lined walls gave a chic on-trend vibe to the location. The digital menu board offered tacos, quesadillas, empanadas, bowls, burritos and nachos. The protein options included chicken, steak, shrimp, fish and falafel for the non-meat eaters. I ordered three tacos; shrimp, chicken and steak. My boyfriend ordered a quesadilla with falafel. Passion fruit juice and a cold Corona helped keep the heat at bay. The server brought a bowl of chips and salsa to nibble on while the food was prepared. Hot, spicy and garlicky sauces elevated the meal to another level. I was told for a long time that the food here wasn't good, so I avoided this place for way too long, and honestly that person could not have been more wrong. This review is strictly about the tacos, since that's all I ordered. I got the three street tacos and chose fried crispy shrimp, crispy fish, and grilled shrimp, and all three were amazing. They were very flavorful, super fresh, and prepared in a very timely fashion. My first time picking up my order, everyone was really nice and the experience was smooth. I did go back another time and had a slightly off experience where I had to wait, and I'm not sure if there was some kind of language barrier because the people there couldn't really communicate with me. They did go and get the person who was supposed to be at the register to give people their orders, which I appreciated, but after standing there for about five minutes no one acknowledged us or apologized and just asked for my name and handed over the food. It wasn't a major issue, just something that stood out. I can't comment on the rest of the food since I didn't try it, but I did have the Yucca fries and they were great, with a good portion size if you're ordering something else. Overall, based on the tacos alone, I'm really glad I finally gave this place a try and I'll definitely be back for more. read more

Came her after work for Taco Tuesday because it's in my neighborhood. 3 tacos for $12 bucks isn't bad; but certain proteins are extra $1 up-charge. So I opted for shrimp, grilled chicken, and fish: around $16 bucks not bad at all. I added the large frozen sangria for $15 yikes all together and came around to $34 bucks. The inside decor is nice with plenty of seating space. The service was quick, I ordered inside, and my tacos were brought to me outside. As I waited, I sipped on my sangria, and it was really good. I was glad I got the large, I only wished I had more of the orange instead of red; but it's hittin'. The grilled chicken taco is pulled chicken and not actually grilled but good. The fish taco was a huge piece of fish that is well fried, not oily, very light. The shrimp was also good.. all of the tacos had the toppings with a little bit of spice and good portion inside a corn tortilla, and I can not complain. I was hoping for a taco Tuesday deal, but the price of 3 tacos is doable. I will definitely go back, and this might be my new spot for taco Tuesdays. read more

This place was cute. The staff were all amazing! My date took me here for some tacos, and i was impressed. We ordered chicken nachos, carnitas tacos, and 6 empanadas which were steak and potato and one Buffalo chicken empanada. We also ordered two passion fruit sangrias. The restaurant was nice to give us chips and guacamole on the house!! Score!! It was such a dope vibe. We ordered our food then went into the seating area to wait and they brought it out to us. I'm a huge stickler on customer service and theirs is top tier. We were checked on multiple times, and the servers and cashiers were all very polite and talkative. The food was bomb! The nachos were amazing! Lots of cheese, chicken, beans, and some other stuff on there that I'm missing. The chips were hot and crunchy, you can tell they fried them fresh and the portion sizes are pretty big. It's definitely enough for two people. Between the chips and guacamole, and the nachos i had more chips than i could eat. The tacos were good. I prefer crunchy tacos tho. Idk if they make the tortilla here, but it sure did taste homemade. All in all i would definitely come back here. They have outdoor seating so it'll be cute for a spring day, or summer day. I love this local Mexican place. Their quesadillas as massive and delicious. My go to is the hanger stake quesadilla. I always order for pick-up however the location seem very cozy and great for picture and they also have outside seating. The service is always great and also their sangrias. What a horrible experience and what a let down of a restaurant this is. I ordered food online via their website for pick up around 8pm. We got a quesadilla, a burrito, a burrito bowl, a cachapa, their frozen sangria drink, & a passion fruit juice. We picked it up in a timely manner and everything seemed well so went home. When we started eating we found out that the food had undercooked rice with more raw pieces than cooked ones. The first bite into the rice was like biting chalk, it was that bad. Worst of all, the burrito was for a pregnant woman who literally started crying because prior to ordering we had read all the good reviews here. I was annoyed because my food was bad too, but I figured not a big deal, we can drive back to the restaurant and surely they'll fix it when they see how raw the rice is. LOL what a joke of service this place is! I showed the girl in the front the bad food and she apologized and asked to give her a minute while she went to the back to ask the cooks to make it again with fresh rice. At this point it was 9:20pm-- they close at 10. Now if you've ever been here you know "the back" isn't very private and you can see what's going on back there. She tells the gentleman the problem (in Spanish) as another lady is cleaning the back. Little do they know.. I speak Spanish! The lady who had NOTHING to do with the issue (she was just cleaning) starts yapping that it's closing time and she's cleaning because she's done for the day (she's done 40 mins before closing lol). The gentleman tells the young lady that he's NOT making fresh rice and that the rice is fine, clearly seeing that it's raw, his suggestion is to microwave it lmao. (How would I microwave a burrito or a bowl with pico de gallo and guacamole-- that's disgusting!) They start talking bad about "picky clients" in the back in Spanish, not knowing I understand every word. The girl comes to the front apologetic and says (in English) that because they're closing she can't do it again so if I want she can make me tacos. I'm annoyed at this for several reasons. 1) The cleaning lady in the back is complaining that now she has to make tacos. So I don't want her to go anywhere near my food if I accept this. 2) I have the food of a pregnant lady who wants a burrito, not a taco. There's a huge difference between both and if you've ever been around pregnant people you would understand. 3) we paid $15+ for the bowl while the tacos are 3 for $12 on top of the fact that I had to drive here and now I have to drive back and waste gas bc they're serving bad food. (Gas prices aren't cheap and my time is also being wasted!) I asked the pregnant lady if she wants some tacos and she starts bawling. I told the young lady no thanks just give me a refund and here's the kicker, instead of comping the whole thing for THEIR mistake and having to make me drive back and forth twice. She refunds only the two items in question lol. Forget that by this point the frozen drink is no longer frozen and the rest of the food is already probably cold AF! Soooo I'm out of food (bc now it's late), I'm out of money-- because ofc the refund takes a few days, I've lost gas money with all the driving, lost precious time out of my night in this HORRIBLE establishment and I have to deal with an upset pregnant woman who just wanted a burrito. Do yourself a favor and AVOID this place at all costs. The food is horrible and the service is even worse. Go to chipotle around the corner, their rice is properly cooked and the workers actually like their jobs and will treat you right. read more

Soooooo, This would be the second time for me & the wife to pick up tacos & loaded cheese nachos !!! The hanger steak fully loaded with all their toppings are definitely the real deal taco !!! I'm one of the few people who don't like tacos (I know I know) but with recent dietary changes and working in a food desert , I decided to give this place a try since they had some appealing seafood options. I ordered my meal via door dash and it arrived very hot. I ordered a shrimp taco and fish tacos with churros for dessert. Everything was delicious. I'm usually one to just eat the filling of tacos and toss the shell but everything about these tacos were so good. My favorite taco was the shrimp one. The fish tacos were good but I would probably stick to just shrimp if I were to order again. The churros were DIVINE! Glad I gave this place a try. I wish I was back here at this very moment! My stomach is growling just thinking about the delicious food I had during my visit. Honestly, these types of restaurants rarely impress me. I like tacos as much as the next person but I don't really ever crave them. But let me tell you, I have been craving East Coast Street Tacos' food since the day I went! Everything is so full of flavor and not at all lacking in the portion size department! The taco fillings were so juicy! No dry chicken or steak over here. The loaded nachos?! Oh my goodness. I don't even like ground beef, but I was told that was their top seller in the nacho topping area, and it did not disappoint! The sauces the food comes with are also so so good! Wish I could give an honest review of the food, but I never received any. My poor Door Dasher waited almost two hours for the food. When he inquired about an update, the woman working told him "5 minutes." Another half hour passed by and no food. Eventually, we had to cancel the order because (1) they made us wait so long we had to get food somewhere else, and (2) they robbed the Door Dasher of money he could have made fulfilling other orders. Shame on them. Really poor business practices. If you have too many orders to fulfill, shut down your delivery apps instead of wasting everyone else's time. That's what every restaurant I've ever worked at would do. Not sure why it's such a problem for East Coast Street Tacos. One star because businesses that screw over members of their community (such as food delivery workers) don't belong in New York City. I ordered a shrimp bowl and all I tasted was salt and mushy rice. I love salt so if I'm saying it was salty then it was bad. Empanadas, yuca fries, tacos all salty. I would never go back. Also, I ordered the food on their site to pick up an hour before and I paid in advance so that I wouldn't have to wait. They didn't start preparing my food until I got there because they needed to see my ID and credit card. What's the point in allowing me to order and pay online then? It gives a vibe that they have no problem making money off of the community but they don't trust the "community". I would not recommend this place to anyone. Go to Miti Miti in Park Slope for good ambience, food and service. Street tacos ain't it. If I could give less than one star, I would. I must say hands down their guacamole is fresh and authentic. I ordered 2 fried shrimp tacos and 1 steak. You can taste the corn in the soft taco shell. The fried shrimp is well breaded and was overdone which made-it dry. I should have ordered the grilled shrimp instead and would recommend grilled shrimp over fried which would have been more California style, along with being tender and flavorful. For topping, I expected more pickled onions and cabbage but it was not much at all. I looked for the pico de Gallo and there was none. There was loads of cilantro topping. They do give you a sauce separately which is tangy, spicy and adds to the flavor of the taco. Try the passion juice it is good. The service was very prompt and the wait wasn't long. The tacos and taco salad is on point... the flavor is unique. What I don't like is that they don't pay attention to detail in some cases I have request salad dressing on the side and they place it on the salad anyway super annoying because makes the shell soft and soggy. Definitely a hidden Gem! Food is amazing, I had 3 steak tacos, 3 choice of steak, chicken, and fish tacos, I had the yucca fries with the sauce was deff my favorite just because I love lemony goods. Had guacamole and chips, and Ofcourse had to try the sangria, you have the choice of frozen or regular. Service was great! The lady's in the front took the order right away and got my food in a few minutes. The ambiance is a must go to, delicately made and the space is great. I must say I will return!!!
